'Mass Hysteria' marks Doris Brendel and Lee Dunham's 4th joint album venture, following the successes of 'Eclectica' and 'Upside Down World'. The daughter of famed classical pianist Alfred Brendel, Doris' distinctive vocals were the driving force behind 1990s alt-rockers The Violet Hour, who were signed to Sony when they released their now revered, classic album 'The Fire Sermon' in 1991. Having become a firm fixture in the Rock and Prog scene, Brendel fans know to expect the unexpected and she is typically hard to pigeon-hole. 'Mass Hysteria' is once again a tapestry of pop, rock, prog and acoustic and World styles and features Brendel's signature Irish whistle. Each song marks a piece of a puzzle which combines to build a vast soundscape. For the first time the duo have used the same set of musicians for the entire album. Sam White on drums, Jacob Stoney on keyboards and Ewan McIntosh on bass, who have featured as the Doris Brendel band on several tours. Dunham (ex-Primary Slave) also decided to give the album to John Mitchell (Lonely Robot, It Bites) for mixing and mastering. This has resulted in a far more cohesive album which may surprise some of their existing fans. Mitchell, himself a big name on the Prog scene, has delivered a new scope and immensity of sound, thus adding the final piece of the jigsaw.. Doris Brendel is one of the most accomplished and exciting live singers on the scene. Apart from first-class musicianship, expect outlandish steam-punk costumes and even laser gloves. Ursprünglich 1993 veröffentlicht, hält Live Doro Pesch in einer entscheidenden Phase ihrer Karriere fest.
Die Aufnahmen entstanden während ihrer „Angels Never Die“ Tour Anfang der 90er Jahre und dokumentieren die außergewöhnliche Bühnenpräsenz, mit der sie sich bereits früh als eine der bekanntesten Stimmen
im internationalen Heavy Metal etablierte.
DORO erlangte bereits in den Achtzigern als Frontfrau von Warlock internationale Bekanntheit.
Mit Alben wie ”Burning the Witches” (1984), ”Hellbound” (1985) und ”Triumph and Agony (1987)”
erreichte die Band ein weltweites Publikum. Songs wie „All We Are“ und „Für Immer“ wurden zu festen Größen und absoluten Evergreens im Genre, während Warlock zu den ersten deutschen Metal-Bands
gehörte, die international tourten und den US-Markt erschlossen.
In einer Zeit, in der Frauen im Heavy Metal noch selten waren, wurde DORO zu einer prägenden Figur
für Female-Fronted Metal. Ihr Erfolg ebnete den Weg für nachfolgende Künstlerinnen und trug dazu bei,
weibliche Stimmen dauerhaft im Genre zu etablieren. DORO war 1986 die erste Frau bei den legendären
”Monsters of Rock”-Festivals.
Nach der Auflösung von Warlock setzte DORO ihre Karriere erfolgreich als Solokünstlerin fort und baute
eine beeindruckende internationale Fanbasis auf. Live spiegelt diese Übergangsphase wider, verbindet
Warlock-Klassiker mit frühem Solo-Material und dokumentiert die enge Verbindung zwischen Künstlerin
und Publikum.
Im Laufe ihrer Weltkarriere wurde DORO vielfach ausgezeichnet, Im Jahr 2022 wurde DORO mit dem
Lifetime Achievement Award ausgezeichnet, nachdem sie zuvor bereits einen Echo, den Metal Goddess

McCombs is one of the most highly regarded bassists/guitarists working today, known for his pioneering band Tortoise, his bass playing in Chicago"s Eleventh Dream Day, and his innovative instrumental group Brokeback. He has released albums with guitarist David Daniell, and collaborated with the likes of Tom Zé to Yo La Tengo, Stereolab to Daniel Lanois. In addition to being the touring bassist for The Sea and Cake, McCombs has somehow found time to form a new trio Black Duck with guitarist Bill MacKay, and percussionist Charles Rumback. Douglas McCombs" VMAKMcCombs" debut solo album is a mix of improvisation, textural explorations and recurring melodic themes. Taking after Brokeback"s classic Morse Code in the Modern Age: Across the Americas, "Two To Coolness" is a piece that McCombs refined through a series of improvised performances and features Calexico drummer John Convertino, as well as singer/guitarist/synth player Sam Prekop (also of The Sea and Cake). "Green Crown"s Step" was largely improvised working through melodies and patterns. The stately "To Whose Falls Shallows" reshapes three key themes that Tortoise and Brokeback fans will find to be signature McCombs, buoyed by fellow Brokeback member James Elkington (Tweedy), who also engineered and mixed the album. On the album, McCombs plays with spare instrumentation and primarily plays electric and acoustic guitars as well as the Bass VI, drawing out textures that stretch the scope of his instruments. McCombs" work is pastoral and expansive, his playing is refined and nuanced, and his melodies often bely his admiration for Ennio Morricone as his guitar imbues endlessly sprawling fields of the midwest with the same sense of magic. It is a true pleasure to hear him perform in such an intimate way. This is an absolute essential for followers of McCombs and newcomers alike, as the album lays bare his influence on each of his groups as well as firmly stakes McCombs as a force all his own.

produziertem Album befreit und selbstbewusst wie nie zuvor. Bekannt für
seinen zutiefst persönlichen Ansatz als Sänger und
Songwriter, in dem bedingungslose Offenheit und sein Gespür für
eleganten Minimalismus ineinandergreifen, gilt der Brite längst als eine der
aufrichtigsten und aufregendsten Stimmen des 21. Jahrhunderts.
Während viele seiner bisherigen Lieder am Klavier entstanden sind,
beschäftigte sich Dare für Milkteeth mit einem ganz neuen Instrument:
Der Autoharp, einer Art Kastenzither. Kaum hatte er sich damit
hingesetzt, sprudelten neue Songideen regelrecht aus ihm heraus - der
Albumvorbote "Silly Games" entstand beispielsweise in weniger als einer
Stunde. "Auslöser waren instinktive Gefühle... über die Kindheit und die
damit verbundene Unschuld", berichtet er. "Und mit der Autoharp hat
dann einfach alles plötzlich zusammengepasst: Ich konnte mit einem Mal
das ganze Album vor mir sehen."
Douglas Dares Musik verhandelt die großen, universellen Themen -
Liebe, Verlust, Kindheit -, indem er den Blick auf die eigene Erfahrung und

Recorded in 1970, it’s a mix of hard–driving psychedelic rock, heavy–blues and atmospheric ballads with big studio production. Flowing organs, powerful Doorsy vocals and hard–edged guitars. Nice orchestrations on some tracks which bring to mind Love’s "Forever Changes" or Johnny Rivers "Realization".

Beyond Colossal is the fulfillment of the promise 2005's excellent Through the Eyes of Heathens began to see through. The sound is that of the band pushing itself harder, writing stronger songs and compromising none of their edge or aural passion. You can hear it on "Exoskeleton (Part II)," truncated here from its appearance with "Part I" on a 2007 split with Iceland's Brain Police, at the 1:39-mark launching of "The Ventriloquist," on the more traditionally stoner "Grand Inquisitor" and even the quiet "Bound for Greatness" which closes out the album.
