Unter der Regie des Produzenten Chris Cohen und mit Gast-Beiträgen unter anderem von Buck Meek und Tenci, weben die organischen und doch akribischen Folk-Klanglandschaften und tief empfundenen Texte auf dem Debütalbum von Le Ren aus Montreal einen reichen musikalischen Wandteppich. Mit der Veröffentlichung ihrer Secretly Canadian EP "Morning & Melancholia" im Jahr 2020 hat sich Le Ren den Vergleich mit der Musikalität und den kargen, eloquenten Texten von John Prine und Neil Young verdient. Auf "Leftovers" zeigt sie uns die lebendige Tiefe ihres klanglichen und thematischen Spektrums und schreibt mit einer kühnen Klarheit, die sie zwischen klassischen Ikonen wie Joni Mitchell, Vashti Bunyan und Karen Dalton sowie einer neuen Klasse von Folk-Ausnahmekönnern wie Adrianne Lenker, Jessica Pratt und Laura Marling beheimatet. "Leftovers" präsentiert zu gleichen Teilen Melancholie, tiefe Liebe und Heiterkeit, um die Trauernden aufzumuntern, während es ein Patchwork aus persönlichen Liedern über verschiedene Beziehungen zusammennäht: die, die wir mit Müttern, Liebhabern und Freunden teilen. Auf "Leftovers" destilliert Le Ren jahrelanges Material zu zehn straff ausgeführten Tracks, die durch das schwelgerische Zupfen ihrer Gitarre und das kristallklare Timbre ihrer Stimme vereint werden. Im April 2021 traf sie sich mit Chris Cohen in einem gemieteten Haus in Portland, Oregon, wo sie warten mussten, bis ein Nachbarsjunge aufhörte, draußen Lärm zu machen, bevor sie aufnehmen konnten. The Leaves’ sophomore album weaves blues, folk and garage together through kaleidoscopic shards of psychedelia to bring listeners All The Good That’s Happening. On translucent chlorophyll green vinyl! Fired by youthful exuberance and a well-rounded repertoire of musical fashions, The Leaves, by all rights, should have turned into major stars. Despite the fact the band’s second and final album, “All The Good That’s Happening,” parented no winning singles and isn’t quite as potent as the first disc, the platter remains terribly underappreciated. Tracks such as the moody stupor of “On The Plane” and the ping-pong pulsations of “Lemmon Princess,” which carries a chaotic circus-like air, are decorated in psychedelic decals, while “Twilight Sanctuary” features some hard-driving harmonica blowing chained tight against giddy blues rock jamming.

The band’s blues influences additionally prevail on honest recyclings of Jimmy Reed’s raspy-throated “Let’s Get Together” and Buffy Sainte-Marie’s candidly cryptic “Codine,” along with “Flashback (The Rhythm Thing),” a retooling of John Lee Hooker’s “Crawling King Snake” that morphs into an intense boogie woogie instrumental. A copy of Manfred Mann’s “The One In The Middle” weighs in as another blues based item, and “To Try For The Sun” is a stark and haunting folk ballad. Snapping guitars, compounded by strong and solid harmonies give the album a strutting garage rock edge, where smatterings of offbeat arrangements and curious effects zone in on the freakier side of The Leaves. To call the album trailblazing would be stretching the truth, but there are enough amusing and exciting ideas to keep listeners awake and interested. Personnel issues, paired with lack of promotion prevented “All The Good That’s Happening” to be heard, resulting in the end of a band that died on the vine (pun intended) way too soon.

Lee Aaron ist im Aufwind. Die preisgekrönte Songwriterin, Produzentin und kanadische Sängerin kehrte 2016 (nach einer zehnjährigen Pause, um ihre Familie großzuziehen) mit einer Fülle von Originalmaterial und mehr Feuerwerksenergie als Künstler, die halb so alt sind, in die Rockszene zurück. Seitdem hat sie 6 neue Veröffentlichungen herausgebracht, darunter eine "Live"-CD/DVD, wobei ELEVATE die neueste und vielleicht coolste Ergänzung zu diesem neuen Kapitel ihrer illustren Karriere ist.

ELEVATE wurde während des Covid-Lockdowns geschrieben, aber anstatt zuzulassen, dass diese Isolation die Band in eine negative Richtung drängt, buchte Lee einen Studio-Lockout für den Herbst 2021. road-worn Birmingham, Alabama band has built a reputation as being

While the Glory Fires have spent a decade propagating what the New York Times
calls 'pandemonium with a conscience,' they've long talked about wanting to
make a classic record'not a transparent document of their playing live with the
occasional embellishment'but a record. So, that's what they did. They contacted
Athens, Georgia's David Barbe, whose work with the Drive-By Truckers, Sugar, Son
Volt, Vic Chesnutt and countless other artists has earned him a legendary
reputation amongst Southern independent rockers, and they agreed to set about
bringing this vision to fruition. While tackling such lofty political, historical and
philosophical concepts, the album is also the band's most intimate, vulnerable

The mid-to-late '60s were strange days for Lee Hazlewood. Having struck gold as songwriter and vocal foil for Nancy Sinatra, he signed up to MGM as an artist in his own right, and between 1966 and 1968, produced three ambitious solo albums that were eclectic, idiosyncratic, and most of all, unpredictable.
It was a happy time for Lee, his music was hot on the charts, he was fully immersed in his collaboration with his muse, Suzi Jane Hokom.

The second of his MGM trilogy-1967's peculiarly named Lee Hazlewoodism: Its Cause And Cure-took on countrified French ye-ye ( The Girls In Paris'), a tale of a young bullfighter built on Spanish guitar and choral cowboys ( Jose'), a string-drenched song about the passing of time ( The Old Man And His Guitar'), and a western epic about a Native American tribe ( The Nights'). And that was just the first four tracks. Elsewhere, the honky tonk madness of Suzi Jane Is Back In Town,' the Byrds-like jangle of In Our Time' and-in the bonus tracks-an instrumental named Batman' confirm this to be one of Hazlewood's most far-ranging, far-out LPs ever.

It's the result of two main factors: ambition-to top Phil Spector, primarily-and cash, which paid for orchestras, plush studios, and the inestimable talents of arranger Billy Strange. I think the big sound of those records came out of the Spector thing,' says Hokom, in the new liner notes. If you can have a big sound and you have money to burn... it was a flamboyancy.'

Released before the Nancy & Lee LP-a bona fide hit for Reprise Records-Hazlewoodism was a tougher nut to crack, a record that confused by combining po-faced delivery with unabashed comical touches. By 1967, Hazlewood had founded the LHI imprint, and was busy building his own empire-one we've been lovingly archiving for the past few years. We now present this missing link in the story, plus predecessor, The Very Special World Of Lee Hazlewood and follow-up, Something Special. Welcome to Hazlewood's magnificent-and mad-MGM years.

Just as the plucky, two-headed chick emerges from the egg on the cover, so too begins a fresh start for the band’s creative energies. Once again, generations of fans both young and old get to lean in, listen and expect the un-expected.

Legião Urbana is the self-titled debut album by Brazilian rock band Legião Urbana. It was released on 1 January 1985.

Though the band was not a punk outfit, their first album shows the influence of British punk bands from the same time period, particularly single "Geração Coca-Cola", whose fast-paced acoustic guitar rhythm is heavily reminiscent of Buzzcocks. The album was not successful as whole upon release, but it spawned several hit singles, namely "Será", "Ainda É Cedo" and "Geração Coca-Cola". Synthesizer-laden ballad "Por Enquanto" is one of the band's most covered songs, as is "Será".

In 2007, the Brazilian edition of Rolling Stone magazine elected Legião Urbana as the 40th greatest Brazilian album of all time.

So auch mit ihrem neuen Album „Songs For The General Public“, das am 1. Mai via 4AD erscheinen wird. Der Nachfolger des gefeierten 2016er Debüts „Do Hollywood“, sowie des ambitionierten 2018er 15-Song-Coming-of-Age-Musical-Epos wurde von den Brüdern im Frühjahr in ihrem Heimstudio in Long Island geschrieben, aufgenommen und produziert, mit weiteren Sessions im Sonora Studio in Los Angeles und im New Yorker Electric Lady Studio.
