Vor der bis heute anhaltenden Reunion durch Sänger Katon DePena im Jahr 2000, nahmen HIRAX aus Los Angeles nur ein Album, zwei EPs und ein Demo auf. Letzteres zeigte die Band noch stark von NWOBHM Acts wie Jaguar beeinflusst. Das Debütalbum „Raging Violence“ (Metal Blade, 1985) polarisiert bis heute! Es dürfte 1985 eine der extremsten Platten gewesen sein, doch dies ging auf Kosten der Songs und einem tighten Zusammenspiel. Man bekam zwar auf der folgenden EP „Hate, Fear And Power“ die Kurve, doch es kam nie zu einem weiteren Album. Nach einer weiteren EP im 7“-Singleformat war diese, heute teils kultisch verehrte Phase von HIRAX vorbei.

2013 nahmen gleich vier Mitglieder „aus den alten Tagen“ fünf HIRAX Stücke mit Sänger Rob Perkins auf. So gelangt auch der Demotrack „Born In The Streets“ erstmals auf ein Album, mit dem damaligen zweiten Gitarrist Bob Savage an Bord. Doch warum diese Neuaufnahmen? Dass sie absolut Sinn ergeben erklärt Bassist und Gründungsmitglied Gary Monardo: „Der Grund, warum wir die Hirax-Songs neu aufgenommen haben, ist, dass die damaligen Aufnahmen schneller waren, als wir es beabsichtigt hatten, was die schiere Härte der Riffs verwaschen hat. Wir wollten, dass diese Aufnahmen tight, sauber, präzise und extrem heavy sind. Da Katons Gesang von einigen Fans als polarisierend empfunden wurde, wollten wir, dass die Fans die Songs mit einer ganz anderen Gesangsdynamik hören.“

Die drei neuen Tracks zeigen, dass man nichts verlernt hat. Die Riffs von Scott Owen sind und bleiben „Signature“. Die Band zerschlug sich vor einer möglichen Veröffentlichung im Jahr 2015 und nur wenige Fans wussten von den Recordings. Aktuell sind die Musiker wieder in Kontakt und wer weiss, was in den nächsten Monaten passiert…

Raimundos is the first album by the Brazilian hardcore punk band Raimundos, released in 1994 through Banguela Records.

Following the deluxe vinyl release of David Sylvian’s solo albums, Brilliant Trees, Alchemy – An Index of Possibilities, Gone To Earth and Secrets of the Beehive this February, 29th March will see the release of the cult classic, 1991 album, Rain Tree Crow. Featuring David Sylvian, Steve Jansen, Richard Barbieri and Mick Karn, Rain Tree Crow also features contributions from Bill Nelson, Phil Palmer and Michael Brook. The majority of the material on the album grew out of group improvisations. There were no pre-rehearsals; the improvisation took place in the recording studio and much of the finished work contains original elements of those initial performances. Rain Tree Crow is pressed on 180gram vinyl and contains a download card.

This 1995 concert for Germany’s famous ‘Rockpalast’ TV series, which was originally released in 2013, followed Ritchie Blackmore’s departure from Deep Purple and the reformation of Rainbow with a new line-up.

The band was in top form as they performed tracks from the highly acclaimed “Stranger In Us All” album alongside classic Rainbow and Deep Purple songs.

April 17th, 2020 sees the re-release of this energetic performance that left the audience speechless.

Rainbow was formed by Ritchie Blackmore in 1975 after he left Deep
Purple at the height of their fame. With Rainbow, he was no less successful and they released a string of hit albums in changing line-ups until Blackmore broke up the group to join the reformed Deep Purple.

“Live In Munich 1977” features the line-up including vocalist Ronnie James Dio and drummer Cozy Powell. Due to trouble with the police after a gig in Austria two nights before, the Munich show needed to be postponed and took place one day later than planned. But this only seemed to give the band additional motivation to perform a truly remarkable concert. Available on Double CD Digipak as well as on for the first time ever in the original performed song order on vinyl!

Frank Nuyens, alias Rainman, was the guitarist for bands like Circus and a founding member of Q65. His solo debut album from 1971 is a slice of psychedelic folk & rock sounds and features fellow Q65 member Jay Baar, Dick Beekman and Eelco Gelling (Cuby & The Blizzards). Rainman is a very rare and hard to find album from the Dutch psychedelic
70’s era. The album is part of Music On Vinyl’s Behind The Dykes series, which comprises rare and sought-after albums from the Netherlands.

Rainman celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2021. This release includes an insert with song lyrics and is available as a limited individually numbered edition on transparent green vinyl.

Born out of revelry and resolution in a redwood cabin tucked into the California coast, endowed with a spirit simmering in wanderlust, and ornamented with the rich traditions of the Louisiana bayou, 'Lonesome Highway' marks the resilient return of Irena Eide, aka Rainy Eyes. These are eleven songs of triumph, punctuated with perseverance and perspective, here to sober up the soul and send it back stronger onto the blacktop. If Rainy's 2019 folk-infused debut, 'Moon in the Mirror', revealed the truth, 'Lonesome Highway' tells poignantly and poetically of the consequences.

'Lonesome Highway' was written as Rainy reflected on the juxtaposition of her circumstances. While she basked in the joy of her recent entry into motherhood, she was simultaneously confronting a troubled relationship that had turned toxic. "Songwriting was my therapy. It was basically how I dealt with the pain and the trauma. The music helped me heal," says Rainy. "This album is about how I had to help myself. To take that pain and use it. For it not to destroy me, but to make me who I am."

The sound is monumental yet subtle: subterranean drones coil beneath spectral chants, decaying harmonics ripple through ancient cathedrals of reverb, and slowshifting textures create a space where the listener floats between the sacred and the surreal. There are echoes here of Lustmord's somber gravity, Thomas Koner 's icy isolationism, and the ritualistic depth of Inade or Desiderii Marginis, but it's RAISON D'ETRE's singular spiritual voice that rises from the abyss. The artwork by Kati Astraeir perfectly captures the album's meditative darkness - fluid forms, organic decay, and transcendent abstraction - while the layout, also designed by Andersson, reinforces the ritualistic purity of the listening experience.

The band, made up of brothers Tim and Tom Leyman along with Hannes Cuyvers, proved over the last year that they were ready for bigger and better things. With 2021 appearances at Crammerock, Lokerse Feesten, Rock Ternat and many other shows in Belgium and the Netherlands, Ramkot firmly established their "ramrock" reputation in live settings.

On the already released singles 'Am I Alright Now' and 'Fever' the band sounds stronger and more danceable than ever, luring essential airplay for them on Studio Brussel, Willy, NPO 3FM and KINK.

'What Exactly Are You Looking For' reminds you of a mixture of stale beer, cigarettes and sweat (really, a lot of sweat), with nods to Millionaire, Soulwax, STAKE and De Staat, who sound just like the name implies. In the run-up to the release shows on December 1 and 2 at Vooruit (in Ghent) the band will be eagerly touring throughout the Netherlands and Belgium.

Subterranean Jungle is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released by Sire Records in February 1983. The album appealed to a hardcore punk rock style rather than featuring several pop-oriented pieces; this is due to the fact that guitarist Johnny Ramone received more leeway with steering the overall genre with his hard rock influenced riffs.
40th Anniversary of the seventh Ramones album. Subterranean Jungle marked a return to the roots of the band. Includes "Time Has Come Today.

Ramsay Midwoods Debütalbum "Shoot Out At The OK Chinese Restaurant" erscheint erstmals auf Vinyl - über 25 Jahre nach der ursprünglichen CD-Veröffentlichung bei Glitterhouse Records im Jahr 1999. Labelchef Reinhard Holstein beschreibt das Werk als seinen persönlichen Favoriten unter rund 800 Veröffentlichungen. Midwoods Werk ist kein Mainstreamprodukt, sondern ein eigenständiges, zeitloses Album mit Tiefgang und Charakter.

Hit Reset is their 4th studio album. They have been together for 20 years and
played their 1200th show recently. The band originally raised the funds to record
through Pledge and reached 100% of their target in 6 hours. Following a 2 year
hiatus, the band are back and all albums are now being re-issued on VinylFor fans
of Capdown, Rancid , The Clash , Less Than Jake , King Prawn, King Blues,
Sublime, The Skints

Kapt. Kopter and the (Fabulous) Twirly Birds is a 1972 studio album by Randy California. This album was recorded and released following Randy California’s departure from Spirit. Spirit’s fourth LP, Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus MOVLP555, reached the charts but took an inordinate amount of time to receive attention. The album would eventually be certified gold by the RIAA in 1976. Following the departure of Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes in early 1971, Spirit recruited John Arliss (and later John Fine) on bass and resumed playing live shows in March 1971”. Randy California, however, was also growing disenchanted in Spirit and left the band in July 1971, along with bassist John Fine.

Randy spent much of his time afterwards in jam sessions with various musicians in Topanga Canyon clubs, particularly a club known as The Corral. Some of the musicians who appeared in these jam sessions, along with Noel Redding (under the pseudonym ‘Clit McTorius’), Leslie Sampson (the drummer from Noel’s band Road, under the pseudonym ‘Henry Manchovitz’) and Ed Cassidy (as ‘Cass Strange’), would end up working with Randy when he started recording solo material in 1972. The resulting album featured numerous covers of the works of contemporary acts such as the Beatles and James Brown, with less emphasis upon original material by Randy.

People just stood there with their eyes and mouths wide open.” To hear Randy Holden describe the audience’s reaction in 1969 to his solo debut performing with a teeth-rattling phalanx of 16 (sixteen!) 200 watt Sunn amps is about as close as one will get to truly experience the moment heavy metal music morphed into existence. However, at last Riding Easy have unearthed the proper fossil record. Population II, the now legendary, extremely rare album by guitarist / vocalist Holden and drummer / keyboardist Chris Lockheed is considered to be one of the earliest examples of doom metal.

Though its original release was a very limited in number and distribution, like all great records, its impact over time has continued to grow. In 1969, Holden, fresh off his tenure with proto-metal pioneers Blue Cheer (appearing on one side of the New! Improved! Blue Cheer album and touring for the better part of a year in the group), aimed for more control over his band. Thus, Randy Holden - Population II was born, the duo naming itself after the astronomical term for a particular star cluster with heavy metals present. “I wanted to do something that hadn’t been done before,” Holden explains. “I was interested in discordant sounds that could be melodic but gigantically huge. I rented an Opera house for rehearsal, set up with 16 Sunn amps. That’s what I was going for, way over the top.” And over the top it is. The six-song album delves into leaden sludge, lumbering doom and epic soaring riffs that sound free from all constraints of the era. It’s incredibly heavy, but infused with a melodic, albeit mechanistic, sensibility.

Troubles with the album’s release bankrupted Holden, who subsequently left music for over two decades. It was bootlegged several times over the years, but until now hasn’t seen a proper remaster and has yet to be available on digital platforms. “The original mastering just destroyed the dynamics of it,” Holden says. “They flattened it out. Now we got a really nice remaster that should be the closest thing to the original recording.”

With songs that run the gamut from heart-breaking to satirical and a host of unforgettable film scores, Randy Newman has used his many talents to create musical masterpieces widely recognized by generations of audiences. After starting his song writing career as a teenager, Newman launched into recording as a singer and pianist in 1968 with his self-titled album Randy Newman. Throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s he released several acclaimed albums: 12 Songs, Sail Away, Good Old Boys, Little Criminals, Born Again, Trouble in Paradise, Land of Dreams, and Bad Love.
Good Old Boys is the fourth studio album by Randy Newman, released September 10, 1974 on Reprise Records. It was Newman’s first album to obtain major commercial success, peaking at #36 on the Billboard 200. Good Old Boys was initially envisioned as a concept album about a character named Johnny Cutler, an everyman of the Deep South. Newman made a demo of these songs on February 1, 1973; they were released as the bonus disc for the 2002 CD reissue, titled Johnny Cutler’s Birthday and are now being included on vinyl for the first time in this Run Out Groove deluxe edition.
In addition to his solo recordings and regular international touring, Newman began composing and scoring for films in the 1980s. The list of movies he has worked on since then includes The Natural, Awakenings, Ragtime, all four Toy Story pictures, Monsters Inc. and Monsters University, Seabiscuit, James and the Giant Peach, A Bug’s Life, and Meyerowitz Stories. Randy Newman’s many honors include 7 Grammys,® 3 Emmys,® and 2 Oscars,® as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013—the same year he was given an Ivor Novello PRS for Music Special International Award. Newman was presented with a PEN New England Song Lyrics of Literary Excellence Award in 2014.

of tireless Los Angeles experimental punk duo No Age, Sound Field Vol
2020, continues the iconoclastic weirdo ripper's series of audiovisual
urban excursions in a contemplative set of ambient compositions
exploring the abandoned expanse of pandemic-era Los Angeles
"Vol. 2020 is named as such (and not 'Vol. 2') because of the massive psychic
shift that occurred at the beginning of the global pandemic and subsequent
lockdown," says Randall. The project took root in the earliest days of lockdown, as
the absence of perennial, man- made din revealed the secret lives and hidden
contours of the world without us: The cacophony of birds on empty boulevards;
the rhythmic click cycles of unmanned escalators; PA announcements
reverberating back into themselves across abandoned transportation terminals;
nocturnal choruses of wildlife reverberating across hillsides under a planeless
sky.We listened inwards, too, recontextualizing ourselves as we reckoned with an
abrupt and collective halt never thought possible in our lifetime, as if someone
had pressed mute on the world. Little did we know what would come. With no
choice but to confront the present, we gave ourselves over to a brief moment of
fear mixed with wonderment, alone, together.

Indie rockers The Ordinary Boys, team up with ska vocalist Ranking Junior
on brand new single ‘Legacy’, a poignant yet jubilant tribute to Murphy’s
father the late Ranking Roger, front man of legendary
Birmingham band The Beat.
This limited edition 7” single also includes “Jump and Skank” on the flip side.
The Ordinary Boys first met Ranking Junior way back in 2005 at a festival in
Japan, when Junior was performing with his father as part of The Special Beat,
a band made up of members of 2 Tone heavyweights The Specials and The
Beat. The Ordinary Boys were fresh from chart success following the release
of their celebrated single ‘Boys Will Be Boys’.
After sharing the stage and performing together, the two bands bonded over
their love of ska, rock and being on the road, sparking a close friendship between The Ordinary Boy’s front man Samuel Preston and Ranking Junior.
It was when Junior called Preston to inform him of his father’s death on 26th
March 2019 at the young age of 56, that they decided to get into the studio,
both feeling the need to pay homage to Ranking Roger and mark his passing
by working together on new songs.
The result is ‘Legacy’, a catchy and accessible track that is both deep and euphoric in equal measure, that perfectly showcases Ranking Junior’s powerful
vocal and highlights the songwriting skills of Samuel Preston, who had been
penning hits for artists as diverse as Cher, Enrique Eglesias and Liam Payne
prior to recording.
Ranking Junior comments: “This song is a celebration of my father’s life and it
seems a fitting tribute to release it on the anniversary of his passing.”

RAT BOY have recorded in Los Angeles with T im Armstrong of Rancid, played festivals as far afield as Japan and China, and toured North America with The Interrupters. Yet for all those globe-trotting adventures, there"s no place you know quite as well as home. That"s the central topic that R AT BOY explore on their upcoming third album "SUBURBIA CALLING", which will be released on October 4th via Hellcat. "SUBURBIA CALLING" sees RAT BOY exploring stories from their roots in Essex. It"s the land of wheeler -dealers and dodgy geezers, and home to nosey neighbours, rowdy clubs and Joey Essex. For readers outside of the UK, it"s the land of Blur, Depeche Mode and The Prodigy: a place not so far outside of east London, but in other ways it"s a world away. And it"s not only an immense font of inspiration for RAT BOY, but the place where ever ything happens for them.. Just outside of Chelmsford sits a converted barn where the band can jump in and be creative whenever the mood takes them - a HQ that is a recording studio, a rehearsal space, an art studio, a storage space and a hangout spot all-in-one. Frontman Jordan Cardy says, "I wanted to sing about Essex. Essex is where we live and when you"ve grown up somewhere you notice things about it. There"s so much to draw on. Essex is really close to London but it"s different in a lot of ways. We"ve got a lot of freedom here, we built a place where we can record and rehearse and hang out, somewhere you wouldn"t be able to have in London." RAT BOY - completed by Liam Haygarth (bass), Harr y Todd (guitar) and Noah Booth (dr ums) - approached the making of the al - bum in unorthodox fashion. They recorded a home demo and a live performance of each song, which were then sent to producer Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur) to edit together like a tapestry puzzle.
