Serge Gainsbourg, the French synonym for cool, brought the French tradition of chanson and rock music together in a unique and hip amalgam. Serge Gainsbourg wrote and composed not like a writer or a musician but like a painter. He used words, notes and instruments as one would use colours, brushes and paintbrushes. Dark or bright, tender, cynical, exalted, pastels, lively, warm or cold, pacified or violent, his poetic images impose themselves on us as if they had been painted. Chant du Monde have brought together a specially curated collection of songs from the zenith of Gainsbourg’s career -

In 1964 and 1966, when Serge Gainsbourg participated in the two public recordings at the “Maison de la Radio”, he was undoubtedly the outstanding protagonist of the evening. It was at this moment that his, according to his own words, “blue period” came to an end. This period was characterized by left-bank songs, tinged with notes of jazz and exotic rhythms.

Gainsbourg remains the master of chiaroscuro, double meaning and a true poet with caustic irony.

In these eight moving songs, Gainsbourg adopts the figure of the disappointed lover as well as the one of the cynical disillusioned man, accompanied by notes of piano or by a guitar and a double-bass. These original recordings perfectly summarize the first decade of his career.

The albums recorded by Serge Gainsbourg between 1958 and 1968 were all originally mixed in mono - in the 1960s, that was the standard for sound. In order to respond to the evolution of listening standards, these discs were subsequently subjected to stereophonic mixes. Stereo has therefore replaced mono and, over the course of the various reissues, mono has completely disappeared. It was therefore no longer possible to listen to Serge Gainsbourg's songs as they originally appeared. This lack has now been repaired, thanks to this sublime 180 gram vinyl box set in mono mixing. An essential figure in the fusion between jazz and bossa nova, pianist/composer Sergio Mendes, who passed away on the 6th of September (1941-2024), recorded over 55 releases under his own name.

This release presents the complete original album 'Voce Ainda No Ouviu Nada', (literal translation: You Still Haven't Heard Anything), originally released in the US as 'The Beat of Brazil'.

During the hiatus of System of a Down their famous frontman Serj Tankian released several records as a solo musician. His second solo record Imperfect Harmonies is a beautiful blend of rock and orchestra music, together with influences from jazz and electronica. He takes many ideas from his first album Elect the Dead and perfects them by infusing the songs with his new musical directions. It is less rooted in rock and consists of many contradictions, lyrically, sonically, and musically. He’s creating a new identity in all directions. “I have been calling the music ‘electro-orchestral-jazz-rock’ because it has all of those aspects in prominence within the songs,” Tankian says. “A few are more stripped down, but the majority of the songs have this huge wall of sound presented in a way I’ve never heard before. It’s not common to have a song that is both electronic and orchestral since one is synthetic and the other organic, but I found a way of meshing a lot of these colors together.”

Back in the early Sixties, the Basso Valdambrini Sextet represented without doubt the best Italian Jazz example. Under the direction of tenorist Gianni Basso and trumpeter Oscar Valdambrini, we had a super-dynamic combo featuring a bunch of young, expert musicians such as Dino Piana - trombone, Renato Sellani - piano, Giorgio Azzolini - bass and Lionello Bionda - drums. As winners of the 1962 "Best Modern Jazz in Italy" contest, they released this album that can be easily considered as a landmark record in European Jazz. A fresh and ultra-swinging program based on fine renditions of classic tunes by Jackie McLean, Benny Golson, Dave Brubeck, Junior Mance and a couple of originals including a heartfelt tribute to master Coltrane.

Multi-Grammy nominated singer, Seth MacFarlane, announces his 7th studio album, Blue Skies. The 14-track collection of swinging tunes showcases acclaimed arranger and conductor Andrew Cottee’s deft take on an uptempo album full of modern big band jazz orchestrations. ouisville’s finest, Beatmaker Dr. Dundiff presents his very first band project called SGJAZZ…

After last year’s very successful collaboration “Cool” with Otis Jr. and his standalone project “Muneybeats”, Dr. Dundiff and Jakarta Records team up once more for the beatmaker’s next project called SGJAZZ, a supergroup formed and crafted by Louisville’s finest musicians.

Dr. Dundiff (done different) is a Hip-Hop/Neo-Soul producer based out of Louisville, KY. Producing music since 2010, Dundiff has released a lot of music. Most known for his ongoing collaboration with Otis Junior and their their debut EP “1moment2another” on Jakarta Records receiving wide daytime airplay and recognition from French tastemaker Radio NOVA, as well as 1.500.000 Mio. Streams via Spotify.
SGJAZZ however is a Neo-Soul/Jazz project: All single members and particpants play together as well as they have their own projects. The group spent off days at Dr. Dundiff’s studio in Louisville, KY, playing around and creating the first foundations of the record. Idris Frederick laid down multiple chord progressions over a course of a few days. Dundiff then chopped and arranged these progressions and played drums over them. From there on everyone else wrote their parts to rest of the music. This process was quite quick and efficient and the album was recorded within a few months already. Dundiff then reached out to up and coming vocalists J.Lamotta and longtime collaborator K.Raydio to each write to a song. Though this album is primarily instrumental, these two features further establish the vibe SGJAZZ effortlessly creates.

All of which also applies to ‘Human’, where Maestro’s outgoing, highly-communicative
band with fellow Israeli Ofri Nemya on drums and Peruvian bassist Jorge Roeder becomes a quartet with the inspired addition of US trumpeter Philip Dizack.
Shai’s expansive pianism is well-matched by Dizack’s alert, quick-thinking approach to
improvising. And, as ever, Maestro is taking the music forward while also respecting its
sense of tradition. Near the end of a programme comprised almost entirely of Maestro
originals, exploring a range of temperaments, the quartet offers its own take on Duke
Ellington’s “In A Sentimental Mood”, while Shai’s tune “Hank and Charlie” pays tribute to
the musical empathy shared by the late Hank Jones and Charlie Haden.
‘Human’ was recorded at Studios la Buissonne in the South of France in February 2020,
and produced by Manfred Eicher.

Stil war gestern, Transformation und Genrevielfalt sind heute! Mit seiner bestens eingespielten Formation Shake Stew, die sich aus zwei Bässen, zwei Schlagzeugern und einem edlen Bläsertrio zusammensetzt, bietet der österreichische Kontrabassist Lukas Kranzelbinder ein intergalaktisches Roadmovie für die Ohren und "good vibrations" für die Seele. Auf dem Debütalbum "The Golden Fang" wehen schamanische Klangschlieren und böllern kolossale Beat-Architekturen, während energietrunkene Bläserstimmen Schlangenlinien fahren. Stimmungen werden smart einer langsamen Metamorphose unterzogen, Soli elegant in ein atmosphärisch dichtes Klangbild eingehüllt. This Moment' - Shakti's first new studio album in more than 45 years - is
a work of immense depth and radiant optimism
With John McLaughlin (guitar, guitar synth) and Zakir Hussain (tabla) joined by
vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan, and percussionist
Selvaganesh Vinayakram, the Shakti of now is a powerfully dynamic collective,
defined by deft interplay, dazzling unison passages, extraordinarily dexterous
improvisations, and the ability to draw from a vast well of global traditions and,
miraculously, put them in conversation with one another.
As a cornerstone of what is now called World Music, the vision and virtuosity of
Shakti has inspired generations of musicians from around the world to explore
sonic hybrids once thought impossible. Born of the musical and spiritual
brotherhood shared by the revolutionary British guitarist and bandleader John
McLaughlin and master Indian percussionist Zakir Hussain, Shakti's soulful,
organic intermingling of Eastern and Western musical traditions has proven
transformative for both the band's members and its listeners. Fifty years after the
informal conversations and jam sessions that sparked the band into existence,
their music continues to resonate and evolve.
Despite the large gap in their studio discography, Shakti has persisted
intermittently over the years as a live proposition, releasing several concert
recordings. "Shakti is very much a 'live' band, " explains McLaughlin. "A part of the
problem with making a studio recording has always been the fact that we live on
different continents, and we all follow our individual careers – in addition to
working together in Shakti. 'This Moment' is the result of me calling everyone in
the fall of 2021 and persuading them to use today's recording technology to
realise it."
Recorded and mixed in the U.S., Monaco, India, and Great Britain, This Moment is
nevertheless cohesive, bound by the deeply held bond shared by the players - a
bond that is audibly apparent across the album's eight tracks.

Darauf interpretierte die Kultsängerin, die am 11. August 2025 im Alter von 96 Jahren verstarb, in ihrem
unnachahmlichen Stil, nur begleitet von einem Gitarre-Bass-Schlagzeug-Trio, ein Dutzend Jazzstandards,
darunter eine brillante Duo-Version von Bobby Timmons’ Hard-Bop-Klassiker “Dat Dere” mit dem jungen
Steve Swallow am Kontrabass.

THE COMPLETE ALBUM + BONUS TRACK - 180g VIRGIN VINYL - LIMITED EDITION. 2-3-4 was not a typical album for Shelly Manne who was primarily associated with West Coast Jazz. For this session though he flew from Los Angeles to New York by arrangement with producer Bob Thiele to be reunited with pioneering tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins and pianist Hank Jones, both of whom he had recorded with at various times in the 1940s. In an unusual session lasting through the wee hours of the morning, Manne ended by recording one tune as a duet with Hawkins.

Manne sich hier im Duo, Trio und Quartett präsentiert. Dabei kommt es unter anderem zu einer Reunion
mit zwei Musikern, mit denen er zu Beginn seiner Karriere in den 1940er Jahren in New York zusammengespielt hatte: dem Tenorsaxofonisten Coleman Hawkins und dem Pianisten Hank Jones. Neben fantasievoll
interpretierten bekannten Standards präsentieren die Musiker auch zwei lakonisch betitelte Originale: “The
Sick of Us” und “Me and Some Drums”.

Recorded live at the Black Hawk, San Francisco in September 1959, At The Blackhawk 1 is the first of 4 volumes released in 1960. Featuring six cuts, Manne (drums), is joined by Joe Gordon (trumpet), Richie Kamuca (tenor sax), Victor Feldman (piano) and Monty Budwig (bass). This new edition of the album is released as part of the Contemporary Records Acoustic Sounds series and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl pressed at QRP with (AAA) lacquers cut from the original tapes by Bernie Grundman and is presented in a tip-on jacket.

Considered by many one of the most gifted and outstanding players in the Electone community thanks to his fresh, energetic, rhythmic and sometimes humorous style of playing, from 1975 to 1977 Shigeo Sekitō released a four-LP album set titled Special Sound Series for the iconic Nippon Columbia. On the first chapter of this series, Sekitō revisits, in his own colourful style, compositions such as "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" by Stevie Wonder, "Oh, My Love" by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, "Andalucia" by Ernesto Lecuona, alongside some of his own composition such as "My Sweet Girl" and the title track "Catch In Alice", creating a blend of easy-listening jazz with funk and soul influences. „Cherry Blossom Baby“, Shigetos erstes Album seit 2017, entspringt einem kollektiven Tauwetter, ist ehrgeizig, kollaborativ und vollendet. Der in Detroit lebende, japanisch-amerikanische Musiker, DJ, Mitbegründer des Portage Garage Sounds-Labels und langjährige Ghostly International-Künstler übernimmt die Rolle des Produzenten und Komponisten. Der kühne und absichtsvoll kultivierte Sound ist eine Hommage an die Traditionen von Electronic Music, Jazz, R&B und Hip-Hop - eine Fusion, die zu seinem Markenzeichen geworden ist und heute lebendiger denn je. Zach Saginaw und eine Gruppe von Gästen und Musikern präsentieren eine Momentaufnahme, eine Feier der Selbstliebe und einen Ausdruck von Vitalität, der eindeutig in Detroit verwurzelt und von der kulturellen Geschichte seiner Familie geprägt ist.
