Seattle punk rock 'n rollers The Drowns are proud to present their brand new live album Live At Rebellion, on Pirates Press Records. This is the band's first foray into recording a live performance, but it has been an idea on the table from very early on. While the band are rightfully acclaimed for their studio albums, the first thing anyone in the know talks about is their electrifying live shows. "Within the first year of starting the band, we saw the reactions we were getting from people live, and we had the idea to record a live album," says guitarist and singer Rev. "Almost a decade later now, we felt like the time was right." While a live album recorded during the first year may have captured the raw power of a hungry band kicking off their momentum, Live at Rebellion is the sound of a seasoned band playing in front of a veritable army of international fans on their largest festival stage at Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, UK - fans that they have earned one by one, sweating it out with relentless transcontinental touring. "Rebellion has always been a highlight of our year, and we love the performances there because the energy from the crowd is raw and visceral," explains Rev. "That's why we made the choice to do it there in Blackpool." While far from a "Greatest Hits Live" preserved in amber, the setlist features selections from every era of the band's career and was determined by the band's knowledge of what songs get their audiences fired up - all killer, no filler, as the saying goes! The gritty attack of "Them Rats" exemplifies the band's streetpunk influences and lyrical calls to unite against abusive authoritarian power. Meanwhile, the vital ass-shaking boogie of "Live Like Yer Dyin'" was a direct result of the band fully embracing their collective appreciation of the energetic joys of both 70s glam and original 50s rock 'n roll! Their choice of cover song - "Ballroom Blitz," - truly hits the Sweet spot, if you'll pardon the pun, as one of the foremost glam-proto-punk-bovver rock masterpieces. It is executed here in masterful hands by The Drowns. The band acknowledges Daz Russell & Daryl Smith, the organizers at Rebellion, for backing the making of the record. David Casey (Success, One Step Beyond) helmed the boards to capture the recording, mixing and engineering was done by Evan Douglas Foster (The Sonics, Boss Martians), and the final master was produced by Seattle legend Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden), who also recently oversaw the re-master of The Drowns' debut album View From the Bottom. "This album was a cumulative effort between people who still believe in rock 'n' roll," sums up Rev. "We couldn't be more proud."

The Ember, The Ash is 鬼 from Unreqvited’s post blackened death metal project that explores the heavier, darker, deeper and weirder sides of the DSBM genre. "Throughout all of Unreqvited’s manifestations, 鬼’s roots in post-hardcore ring out in the form of bright, building riff-walls that welcome the dawn of a new day. More of a DSBM artist through his general emotional intensity that escapes the prison of despair, Unreqvited becomes a candle in the depths of darkness. Surely, there needs to be a place to store overwrought feelings in order to arrive at a place of hope, and that’s where The Ember, The Ash comes in. 鬼 has added the new band to his list of rock and metal ventures, and it is arguably the gloomiest yet. While his songwriting still very much mimics the building of a staircase, it is one that aims steadily downward to the pits instead of upwards to the heavens." - INVISIBLE ORANGES

The mood is dark to melancholic, but also majestic and epic. Hailing from Rome, THE FORESHADOWING are something like the musical equivalent of the city they come from. Founded in 2005, the group can look back on a successful and eventful history. Listeners of gothic, doom and dark metal are very familiar with the quartet's work. THE FORESHADOWING gained popularity in the international scene with four acclaimed albums released between 2007 and 2016: "Days of Nothing" (2007), "Oionos" (2010), "Second World" (2012) and "Seven Heads, Ten Horns" (2016). In 2023, THE FORESHADOWING ended a forced break of several years with the EP "Forsaken Songs" and a European tour with Saturnus and In The Woods. Now, "New Wave Order" is the group's fifth full length album and their debut on LIFEFORCE RECORDS. The formation from Rome emphasizes its strengths on the album and offers cinematic tracks of dark music that is nevertheless immensely catchy and mood-enhancing. While listening to "New Wave Order", you are whisked away into a world full of secrets and allusions. The path is THE FORESHADOWING's goal, which manifests itself in all-encompassing, organically developed musicality. The Gates of Slumber return with a new album out in November on Svart Records “I never intended to pick up with The Gates of Slumber ever again in 2014. While I did start the band and wrote most of the first album it was never intended to be a one man show.” -Karl Simon, 2024 Indiana’s True Doom Metal legends The Gates of Slumber return with their sixth album out in November via Svart Records. The self-titled album is the band’s first full length offering since The Wretch from 2011. The Gates of Slumber was formed by Karl Simon in 1998. Various people were in and out of the group between 1998 and 2001, when the Blood Encrusted Deth Axe demo was recorded with Jamie Walters aka Dr. Phibes/Athenar (Boulder, Midnight) on drums and bass. In 2003 Jason McCash took over the bass duties and was a long-time member of the band until his untimely demise in 2014, after which Simon decided it was time to call it quits. That was until 2019 when the renowned metal festival Hell Over Hammaburg wanted to bring the band back on stage to perform at the festival’s 2020 edition. Simon reformed the band with its original member Chuck Brown on drums and Steve Janiak on bass and got back to work. “We’d been asked several times to play Hell Over Hammaburg. But there was no “we” to play. The germ of the idea started. We started re-learning songs from the first LP. It wasn’t too long into the rehearsals that we started coming up with new songs.”, states Simon. After a reunion tour was finished, Covid kicked in to slow down the process. Half of the album was already written but the remaining half took its time, and the songs were left to stew in their juices. With bastard heavy songs honoring the Doom Metal greats Saint Vitus and Penance, straight forward bangers, lyrics inspired by the Black Death and John Carpenter’s The Fog, The Gates of Slumber is a truly crushing album and a must listen to any Doom Metal fanatic. Having toured with Pentagram, Reverend Bizarre, Cathedral, Slough Feg, Earthride, and Weedeater in addition to getting praised by Decibel Magazine such as “The Gates of Slumber have quietly gone about the business of becoming one of the best heavy metal bands in the world.”, it’s safe to say The Gates of Slumber play some of the heaviest metal on this planet. The early incarnation of the band featured a much more death & doom metalbased style than the more atmospheric rock & experimental music they became
known for over the years, having enjoyed a highly successful career globally over
a 20-year period. The band recorded 2 demos initially before making their studio
debut with 'Always…'. 'Always…' was The Gathering's debut full- length album.
Originally released in 1992 , it is a prime example of classic atmospheric death/
doom metal with brutal vocals & slow funereal riffing influenced by bands such as
Celtic Frost, as well as the implementation of keyboards to accentuate the dark
ambience. Now released on Peaceville for the first time, a track from the release
was even featured on an early Peaceville Records compilation, 'Volume 4', with
the track 'In Sickness & Health'.

The Netherlands' premium progressive gothic metal artists The Gathering caught live on the stage of the legendary Paradiso in Amsterdam, 1999. The Svart Records official reissue comes on 180 gram vinyl, wrapped in a heavy gatefold jacket. "It is a very good representation of where we stood back in 1998/99. We also didn’t do any overdubs so what you see is what you get. It’s a very honest document of what THE GATHERING was like in 1999", says Hans Rutten of The Gathering,"It's very pure and I'm very proud of it, especially to see it finally reissued on vinyl after a first, very limited run in 2013."

Satte 10 Jahre haben sich THE GATHERING, die mit Alben wie "Mandylion", "How To Measure A Planet?" oder "Souvenirs" zu internationalen Ikonen atmosphärischer Rockmusik wurden, für ihr neustes Werk Zeit gelassen, denn nach über 16 Jahren im Hamsterrad von Tourneen, die sich mit Albumaufnahmen abwechselten, um dann die nächste Tournee zu bestreiten, und dem Weggang ihres langjährigen Bassisten Marjolein Kooijman in 2013, brauchten die Musiker einfach mal eine Pause, um ihre Batterien wieder aufzuladen und sich um ihre Familien zu kümmern.

Ihr 25jähriges Bandbestehen 2014 haben THE GATHERING dennoch mit allen aktuellen und ehemaligen Bandmitgliedern im Doornroosje Club in Nijmegen groß gefeiert, um sich danach wieder in ihre selbst auferlegte musikalische Klausur zu begeben.

2018 dann war die Band wieder startklar. In Hugo Prinsen Geerligs, der bereits von 1989 bis 2003 die vier Saiten bei THE GATHERING bediente, fand man einen neuen Bassisten und die Gruppe begann, neue Songs zu schreiben und Konzerte zu spielen, bis 2020 die Pandemie zuschlug und alles um weitere zwei Jahre verzögerte.

Das 11.Studioalbum von THE GATHERING knüpft stilistisch an den Vorgänger "Disclosure" von 2012 an. Acht Titel, im für die Band typischen, satten Electro-Rock-Sound - auch als Trip Rock bekannt - , getoppt von wunderbaren Gesangsmelodien und der warmen Stimme von Sängerin Silje Wergeland machen "Beautiful Distortion" zum wahrscheinlich dynamischsten und melodischsten THE GATHERING-Album in ihrer über 30jährigen Bandgeschichte.

Produziert und gemixt wurde "Beautiful Distortion" von Attie Bauw (u.a. Judas Priest, Scorpions), der bereits bei den THE GATHERING-Alben "Home" und "How To Measure A Planet?" an den Reglern saß. Für das Mastering zeichnet Maor Appelbaum (u.a. Faith No More) verantwortlich.
Die Musik wurde von der Band im Arnold Muhren Studio in Volendam (NL) eingespielt, alle Gesangsparts wurden im Bergen Lydstudio in Norwegen aufgenommen.
"Beautiful Distortion" wurde in Dolby Atmos gemischt und kann auf allen Plattformen, die Dolby Atmos Mixe anbieten, gestreamt werden.

Sämtliche Bandmitglieder waren von Anfang an am kreativen Prozess und den Aufnahmen beteiligt, sowohl einzeln, online, als auch persönlich und gemeinsam, wann immer es möglich war. Es war zwar eine Herausforderung, während der Pandemie und den damit verbundenen Maßnahmen ein Album über zwei Länder hinweg zu schreiben und aufzunehmen, doch THE GATHERING haben auch dies mit Bravour gemeistert.

Mandylion ist das klassische dritte Studioalbum der niederländischen Band The Gathering. Es wurde am 22. August 1995 von Century Media Records veröffentlicht. Es ist das erste Album der Band mit der Sängerin Anneke van Giersbergen. Mandylion ist das bis heute meistverkaufte Album von The Gathering. Strange Machines, eine unerwartete Hit-Single in den Niederlanden, wurde im holländischen Radio viel gespielt und ist immer noch oft in diversen All-Time-Listen zu finden. Das Album wurde zwischen dem 1. und 16. Juni 1995 in den Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Deutschland, aufgenommen und gemischt, und zwar unter der Leitung von Siggi Bemm und Waldemar Sorychta.

On an early morning in November 2015, THE GHOST INSIDE was involved
in an accident that claimed the lives of their driver, the lives of everyone
in the other vehicle, and resulted in multiple injuries for all of the band
members
Jonathan Vigil (vocals) suffered from a fractured back, ligament damage, and
two broken ankles. Zach Johnson (guitar) has since had 13 surgeries for a femur
injury. Andrew Tkaczyk (drums) ultimately lost his leg. The future of the band was
very much up in the air throughout 2016, as everyone struggled to recover.The
road to recovery was both mentally and physically extensive but THE GHOST
INSIDE were determined to get back to doing what they love. Nearly four years
later, the band did just that, returning to the stage July 2019. Originally meant to
take place at the historic Shrine Auditorium, tickets sold out so quick that the gig
had to be moved to the parking lot, selling double the venues capacity. Over 8000
people witness this return to the stage. The accident will always be a defning
moment for THE GHOST INSIDE, but never what defnes them.

Born from their shared love for heavy music and 20 years of experience in playing together, THE GORGE consists of four jazz musicians who use the project as a creative outlet besides their day jobs as session musicians and music educators. Triangulating the chaotic yet groovy energy and the guitar masterclass of Botch with the riffage of Mastodon and the nimble instrumental intricacy of Animals as Leaders or Intronaut, Mechanical Fiction is an immensely ear-pleasing collection of tasty riffs and complex compositions that are nonetheless free-flowing like a river smoothly carving its winding path through a rugged landscape. They created an album that was true to their legacy whilst maintaining a crisp and modern sound.

2020. The year of the corona-pandemic, when the world was forced into a standstill, five
old friends put in motion an old idea that had been lingering - and what eventually was to
become a new band: THE HALO EFFECT.
The members of THE HALO EFFECT are masters of their domain, pioneers of the Gothenburg
melodeath scene. Lead guitarists and melodic death-slingers Niclas Engelin and Jesper
Strömblad, lead singer and lyricist Mikael Stanne, supported by the solid backbone and
foundation of bassist Peter Iwers, and his partner in crime for twenty plus years, hard-hitting
drummer Daniel Svensson.
Having known each other from an early age back in the late 80’s, the members started playing
together in various projects during the 90’s, before forming In Flames and Dark Tranquility,
two truly iconic bands who would go on to dominate the Gothenburg scene. Both bands
were notably major forces behind the melodeath monicker: The Gothenburg Sound. A sound
that would echo far and wide across the world and influence countless metal bands during
the 90’s and early 2000’s.
This was also the initial thought behind THE HALO EFFECT - to go back to the roots and
explore what groundbreaking metal sounded like then, before adding the experience and
skill of what the members could bring to the table now. The result is an exceptional album and
real tour de force to fans of melodeath where the echoes of the Gothenburg Sound is evident.
THE HALO EFFECT delivers the goods in a brutally efficient display of heart pounding beats,
melodic mayhem and furious growling at its best. Raw, yet melodic, and in your melted face.
Guitarist Niclas Engelin explains: “There was no exceptional plan or overthinking when it
came to the creation of the music, except for being ourselves and to play like we always do,
let it all come naturally and have fun while doing it. And I think we had just that - fun!! We all
really love playing together and after nearly 3 decades of full on Riffage & Thunder in the
name of Gothenburg Sound/Death Metal we still feel it!”
This labor of love started out at Peter´s place. He had the haunting opening part of ”Gateways”
going, a section that yearned for a huge chorus, which provided the perfect foundation
for a song. ”Gateways” was like opening a jar of magic, and the rest came naturally, songs
like ”Shadowminds”, “Days Of The Lost” & “Feel What I Believe” started to take form. The
key to their songwriting process is based on a trust that allows them to have fun while creating
something that they find exciting.
They don’t interfere in each other’s playing - the magic has to come from the heart, it has
to be honest and fun. Once the song was demoed, it was time for everyone else to add
their own flair, from Daniel’s dynamic drum grooves and Peter’s direct and thunderous bass
playing to the undeniable riffing of Jesper and Niclas. It didn’t take long for this to become
something glorious.
Niclas and Jesper had been trading riffs and song structures back and forth as they had the
privilege of Crehate Studios & Oscar Nilsson (studio owner/producer) at their service day &
night that made it easy for them all to record and keep the process flowing at any given time
of the day. After the magic touch from Jens Bogren and Fascination Street Studios, they had
created an album that was true to their legacy whilst maintaining a crisp and modern sound.
The focus and goal of the album was to go for the vibe of how it was when they started out
way back in the early 90´s, being total Metalheads and misfits in a world dominated by
Alternative Rock. That attitude of ”Fuck you, we do what we want to do” was essential to
them and still is to this day! It’s really important for them to have a focus and a goal when they
are writing an album and when everyone is locked in on the ideas, that is when something
truly great can happen.
Mikael was committed to the cause, dedicating months on end into his lyric writing, to ensure
that every word carried the weight that they should. There are vocal hooks in almost every
line, the sign of a master at work.
For the special guest on this album, the band chose their mutual friend and Gothenburg metal
afficionado
Matt Heafy from Trivium. His love for the genre and his passion for all things melodic death is
beyond evident. It was a great experience for the band, collaborating on this song with Matt
and he did an incredible job.
Seeing the artistic interpretation of their music through the eyes of incredible artist Adrian
Baxter (singles and album covers) was as seeing their creation come to life in multiple dimensions.

Was wäre, wenn man sich für die nächste Veröffentlichung nicht nur alleine aufnehmen, sondern auch die Songs alleine schreiben würde? Je ein Song pro Bandmitglied. So entstand das Konzept zu Solitaer, was “einzeln lebend” bedeutet und somit das Antonym zu gregär darstellt. Social-Distancing als Songwriting-Konzept. Die Meinung der anderen Bandmitglieder war zwar erwünscht, brauchte aber keinen Einfluss auf das Schaffen der drei Musiker zu nehmen. So sind drei Songs entstanden, die zwar alle typische Merkmale erkennen lassen, die Teil der Hirsch Effekt-Rezeptur sind, sich aber doch vom typischen The Hirsch Effekt-Material unterscheiden. Das Ergebnis klingt nicht nur nach einem extrem spannenden Experiment, sondern eben auch sehr extrem. Abgerundet wird Die Solitaer EP von einer Bandversion des Songs “Gregaer”, der ursprünglich als Orchesterversion geschaffen wurde.
