CANDY & THE KISSES burst onto the Northern Soul scene with their first single, and all-time classic, “The 81” co-written and produced by the late, great, Jerry Ross. A number of their songs have found favour over the years including “Out On The Streets Again” and the rare promo B-side “Tonight’s The Night”, and now our OVO… “Are You Trying To Get Rid Of Me Baby”. This storming unreleased dancer first came to our attention courtesy of Kent Records and their 1986 Magic Touch album. The song was originally known by the Crystals on U.A. which has grown in popularity and value in recent times.
VALERIE SIMPSON is better known as one half of music bis. royalty Ashford & Simpson who need little introduction. She co-wrote our topside and “Mr Creator” which she demos here to great effect. The song was taken up by The Apollas on Warner Bros. and went on to become a Northern Soul all-time classic.

Carol Douglas is an American singer known for her contributions to the disco music scene in the 1970s.

During this time, she was signed with Bob Reno's Midland Records where she recorded a string of successful hits, including “Doctor’s Orders”.

This new compilation record showcases the best of Reno's four-to-the-floor 70s productions and remixes, remastered and pressed on fluorescent pink vinyl.

Bliss, the latest release of french producer Cezaire is an 8 tracks project blending hip-hop, funk and soul sounds.

Chelsea Wilson is a Melbourne based vocalist, songwriter, broadcaster and producer. Her highly anticipated new album “Chasing Gold” sees Chelsea move into rare-groove territory, fusing her love of early disco, epic pop and jazz. Produced by ARIA nominated composer/ bassist Ross McHenry (The Shaolin Afronauts), the album features lush string orchestration arranged by Ross Irwin (The Bamboos) and backing vocals by Jason Heerah and Thando. The debut single “Real Love” has garnered international airplay including spins on BBC6, Delite Radio, Starpoint, Mi-Soul and Jazz FM in the UK, hitting #12 on the UK Soul Chart.

Ches Was born in Barbados, and from that faraway small group of islands comes this outstanding piece of Caribbean Soul. Like many of the artists we love, Ches had his fair share of travels and troubles. He dedicated his whole life to music pursuing that ideal of living by the dream we all keep sticking to when it comes to soul music. After the teenage years spent listenting to the sound of the American Black Music legends of the times, whose frequencies made it to the radio stations in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, he decided to pack up and go big studying music in New York City thus finding he was gifted with songwriting, where he always puts soul, jazz and a touch of reggae music. Wirl label (West Indies Record Ltd.) was his recording home with which he released a number of tunes both solo and with his band The Outfits. He then traveled far and wide, spending a couple of years in Canada (another proof of Canada’s music industry solid ties with the sound from the islands), eventually ending up where Funk Investigators’ patrol member Yann Vatiste has found him and secured the license for this release. Stay tuned for more tales about this man, he might be closer to you than you think.

Unfortunately, it marked Chic’s final performance as their partner, Nile Rodgers’ partner, Bernard Edwards, passed away the day after this recording"

months’ Warm’s Ali Tillett and Micky Browne have been
discussing records and sharing insights into each other’s
record collections. Off the back of this RE:WARM is born as an
outlet to showcase music from both their collections that they
felt deserved to be revisited and shared with the world as a
lot of it had previously been overlooked or worse still,
undiscovered.

Born Bangalter in 1947, Daniel Vangarde is a French songwriter and producer. In 1967, he met Jean Kluger who became his publisher. In the 1970s, their tandem stood out in those fields, for a plethora of popular French artists such as Petula Clark, Claude François, Joe Dassin, Dalida, Régine, Sheila and Ringo. 1975 saw the birth of Vangarde’s label, Zagora, and his first and only solo LP. Later on, Vangarde and Kluger were responsible for a number of hit songs by The Gibson Brothers, Ottawan and La Compagnie Créole. With or without Kluger, Vangarde also wrote and produced songs that remained underground, under several monikers (Starbow, Who’s Who, Soul Iberica Band, Yamasuki, Rocky & Vandella…) and for various artists. Daphne Guinness somehow resists definition. There’s the close friendships with Alexander McQueen and Isabella Blow, the various collaborations with artists & designers, alongside well-respected ventures in the world of film, with Guinness’ name appearing on the back of the Oscar-nominated Cashback, which she co-produced, alongside a role in art film The Murder of Jean Seberg. Daphne recorded the album at Les Studios Saint Germain, Paris working once again with David Bowie producer Tony Visconti, also at the helm for Guinness’ previous two critically-acclaimed albums. As hinted by illusory lead single & title track ‘Revelations’ - couched in Visconti’s lush orchestrations, and for which Daphne cites both Gainsbourg’s ‘L’Histoire de Melody Nelson’ & J.S. Bach as inspirations. Subsequent single release ‘Deviant Disco’ also features in a new art-film project - nominated for this year’s Berlin Music Video Awards - created by Daphne with another of her long-term collaborators, David LaChapelle, who also oversaw the surreal clip for the single ‘Evening in Space’ lifted from Daphne’s 2016 debut album.

Love Is Hard Work is a continuous 29 minute recording and something that Sean Guering from De Lux has been wanting to make for a while
According to Guering: "Before De Lux, I used to write long songs, but never really
finish them. Written and recorded in mid 2021 for two months, it felt like a breeze
to make 'Love Is Hard Work' because I had been thinking and talking about it for
so long. Influenced by a lot of artists from '79-'82, like Peter Gordon, Electric Mind,
Evans Pyramid or Dizzy K, the track is intended to feel like a continuous flow of
dance music. Instead of a stream of consciousness in lyricism, this is more of a
stream of consciousness in instrumentation and songwriting; where ideas flow
from one to the other without too much thought.

"Let Me Trouble" by Deborah Haslam (a pseudonym for Italian singer Elena Ferre) is a true cult classic for
Italo Disco and Cosmic/Balearic enthusiasts.
Originally released in 1984, the track features produc(on by Gianfranco Bortolo, Mauro Farina, and
Giuliano Crivellente. It stands out for its hypno(c and more "down-tempo" atmosphere compared to
commercial Italo Disco, a quality that cemented its status as a staple in Afro and Cosmic DJ sets.
Beyond the original 1984 version, the track enjoyed a "second life" in 1987 when it was remixed with an
Afro-Funk vibe and featured as the B-side of the single "Hot Stuff."

Former Mind & Matter bandmates James "Jimmy Jam" Harris and Michael Dixon teamed up for 1978's gospel-boogie banger "You're All I Need" b/w "You're Everything" on the private Mad label.

‘A Hot Summer Night’ was recorded live on 6th August 1983, at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, CA, with an audience of 18,000 fans, during the second-leg of Donna Summer’s 1983 ‘Hard For The Money’ tour, which supported the recently released ‘She Works Hard For The Money’ album. This is the concert’s debut Audio-only release and therefore the makes its official release on Vinyl, making it a perfect sequel to 1978’s ‘Live And More’. The set-list includes ‘MacArthur Park’, ‘Love Is In Control…’, ‘Bad Girls’ Medley, ‘On The Radio’ and ‘Last Dance’, as well as performances with special guests Musical Youth, her sisters Dara and Mary Ellen on an extended showpiece version of ‘Woman’, as well as closing the show with her eldest daughter Mimi, performing ‘State Of Independence’.
The essay by noted US writer Christian John Wikane, includes newly conducted interviews with film director Brian Grant, executive producer Len R. Epand and internationally renowned choreographer, Dame Arlene Phillips.

Neil Morris, or DRMNGNOW, is a Yorta-Yorta man and musician with a purpose. DRMNGNOW (pronounced Dreaming Now) is a project which is firmly focused on raising awareness around Indigenous justice in a post colonial society. This work is complex and is as equal parts system challenging as it is celebratory.

The single Australia Does Not Exist has been re-visited featuring Kee’ahn, a proud Kuku Yalanji, Jirrbal and Torres Strait Island woman, exciting emerging artist, and intergral part of the DRMNGNOW live experience . Edwin Birdsong’s self titled album was released in 1978 on Philadelphia International Records at the height of the Disco craze. By this time, Edwin was a major player at PIR and a talented songwriter and producer as well. Birdsong’s vision hits the mark as the album boasts several gems that became dance floor classics, especially in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, LA and San Francisco. “Cola Bottle Baby”, “Kunta Dance” and “Goldmine” are all hard hitting funks gems that kick in hard and are ready for partying. Daft Punk sampled the hitsong "Cola Bottle Baby" in "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". The sexy “Lollipop” is years ahead of its time and the irresistible “Freaky Deaky Sities” and “Phiss-Phizz” both became huge club hits, despite not having charted on any of the Billboard charts. Even though the album missed the charts, it became something of a hot item for disco/soul music collectors. Originally released in 2009, Eliot Lipp’s album “Peace Love Weed 3D” covers a lot of ground in ten songs. The record’s style explores instrumental electro-funk, acid, fusion and even italo-disco sounds.

The album began as a collection of loose sketches made on various drum machines and synthesizers recorded to tape. This source tape was then cut apart, resampled, and enhanced with the addition of more samples and live instrumentation. Lipp chose to work for the first time with a studio guitarist. He met Guitar Ron in the subway station close to his studio in NYC. Throughout this album his efforts blend perfectly with Lipp’s exquisite taste in sound as the synth and guitar leads weave effortlessly in between thick chords and complex drums.

Peace Love Weed 3D was originally released on Eliot’s own label Old Tacoma Records January 27th, 2009 and now receives it’s long overdue, first ever vinyl pressing through frequent collaborators YHS Records.

Eloise Laws is the Texan born singer who began recording for Holland Dozier Holland, releasing several singles before singing her to their Invictus label. This 1977 soul album is produced by Brian Holland. Formed in 1969 as Silent Eruption, their members hailed from Ghana, Curaçao, Guyana and Jamaica. Precious Wilson, who joined Eruption in 1974, added an element to the band’s sound that led to their international success. While on the road in Germany, they were discovered by talent scout and producer Frank Farian, who is also known as the founder of Boney M., Milli Vanilli and La Bouche.

In 1979 Eruption released their second studio album Leave A Light, which contained their characteristic funky euro-disco sound. The first single release was a cover of Caston & Majors’ “Leave A Light (I’ll Keep A Light In My Window)”. The second single was also a cover version, this time the Sixties hit “One Way Ticket” by Neil Sedaka. The single led Eruption to the top ten in the UK and all over Europe.

with new sounds and musical structures from the ar'st who made the legendary '80s famous
worldwide.
"Midnight Girl" is a 1985 track by Noe Willer, which was very famous in France. The song was
