Modern Talking released “Jet Airliner” in 1986 as the first
single from the album Romantic Warriors. It reached the top
10 in Germany, Austria and Spain.

The 12 inch Jet Airliner features the Fasten-Seat-Belt-Mix, Instrumental and Radio version of the single. It is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on translucent blue and red marbled vinyl.

Hammered is the 16th studio album by British rock band Motörhead, released on 9th April 2002. It was recorded in Hollywood and Motörhead was now a three-piece band, with Mikkey Dee on drums, Phil Campbell on guitar and Lemmy on vocals and bass.

Cassette tapes. Remember those? Those things with the dual spools and loads of wide brown plastic recording string that’d occasionally unravel and hang out of the shell, requiring a pencil and firm wrist to spin back into place? Yeah, well, once upon a time, old-school sound systems contained cassette decks for the express purpose of recording shows, and these “cassette” things were a standard part of every tour. Motörhead were certainly no exception, recording show after show. They contain gold, pure aural gold, and had for many years sat in storage. There were loads of them gathered, with the likes of Lyon, Liverpool, Hamburg and Chippenham (!!) scrawled in biro on the tiny labels alongside a date…and thus we are delighted to announce that this unique collection of live gems will now be heard by the world, via carefully digitized transfers, in this series titled The Löst Tapes. Volume four has been hand-picked by the increasingly deaf, but well-meaning Motörhead team, and sees the then quartet play a monstrous live set from the ‘No Remorse’ album tour, recorded at Sporthalle, Heilbronn, Germany on 29th December 1984. An album made of silences, space, slowness. A music that doesn't chase impact, but truth.

If his previous work, Mexican Alps (2025), marked the first time the German composer and producer created an ambient-electronic album without his instrument of choice, the piano, L'Écho de Bretagne emerges as a direct response to that absence. "It was exactly the lack of piano that brought about the need for this new record, which instead puts that instrument, so vital to me, at the very center, stripping everything else away," Niklas explains.

Born in 1994, Paschburg has shaped over the years a musical path deeply connected to travel, nature, and introspection. From his debutTuur Mang Welten(2016) toOceanic(2018),Svalbard(2020),Panta Rhei(2023), and the aforementionedMexican Alps— alongside soundtracks, remixes, and collaborations with artists like RY X, Hania Rani, Ásgeir, and Bryan Senti — his sound bridges neoclassical, electronic, ambient, and pop-driven composition.

WithL'Écho de Bretagne, the Hamburg-born, Berlin-based musician continues his exploration by seeking solitude in nature, much like he did onSvalbard, but this time with an even more radical choice: disconnecting completely from the internet, and switching off both computer and smartphone for a while, in order to fully immerse himself in his new music. "I rented an old cottage in Paimpol, Brittany, where I knew there was a grand piano," he recounts. "When I got there, I discovered that not only was the piano more than a hundred years old, but it was also of an unknown brand, never restored, and quite difficult to play. But that gave it a unique character, and I didn't give up. Sure, it was an instrument left to its own fate, I couldn't play anything too fast. But how fascinating was that? I'm convinced that setting limits, instead of giving yourself total freedom when composing, can become an extraordinary source of inspiration."

As for the decision to temporarily detach from a life that demands we stay constantly connected, Niklas describes it as both a creative and human experiment. "I had my laptop and phone with me, just in case, but I kept them turned off. That choice made me wantL'Écho de Bretagneto be a fully analog work, even in how it was recorded." A way of clearing the mind. "I don't think I've ever been as calm as I was during those days in Paimpol. Even though I was working on a very specific project and didn't have much time, that period was more relaxing than any vacation."

Not that it was free of hiccups. "I'd borrowed a reel-to-reel recorder small enough to travel with me, but after recording a session on the piano, I realized it wasn't working properly, the sound was distorted, full of crackles. I got worried, because I wasn't near any big city where I could find a technician. Luckily, I figured out the problem was the old tape reels I had brought along. That was the only time I had to go online, to order new ones. But it was just for a moment. I shut everything off again right after." At that point, Niklas was waiting for the new tapes to arrive. He found out, completely by chance, from a local UPS courier that they had been delivered to a nearby village. "Since my phone was off, I couldn't track the shipment. So one day I asked this delivery guy, who didn't know anything about it. But from that point on, we'd see each other daily and talk… That's what being disconnected also means: reconnecting with people around you, even strangers. It was thanks to that courier that I found out where the tapes had ended up. And he even helped me get them back, writing directions for me on a scrap of paper."

But there's another element that makes this new EP unique.L'Écho de Bretagnewas recorded entirely live; its tracks are all improvised, complete with their imperfections. This approach leads to a sound that is pure, profoundly organic, and deeply authentic, intentionally preserved to give the listener the feeling of a live performance happening in their own living room. The touch of fingers on the keys, the breath of the wood, the tension of the vibrating string, all become part of the music. There is no construction, only expression. "Even now, when I listen back to it, I feel that moment I gave myself to step away from everything: from reality, from words, from noise." The result is a collection of suspended melodies and atmospheres, reflecting a state of the soul. A refuge from the rush of time. A pause from the world.

In der ehemaligen DDR als Tochter der Schauspielerin und Sängerin Eva-Maria Hagen geboren, hatte Nina Hagen von Jugend an gegen ein bevormundendes System ankämpfen müssen. Trotzdem kann sie sogar auf einige dortige Hits zurückblicken. Die Situation eskalierte jedoch, als der Liedermacher und Ehemann der Mutter, Wolf Biermann, nach einem Auftritt in Westdeutschland nicht in die DDR zurückkehren durfte. In der Folge verließen auch Nina und ihre Mutter die DDR. In Berlin (West) gründete sie schließlich die "Nina Hagen Band".

Das selbstbetitelte Debütalbum traf den Nerv der Zeit und kratze an der Top 10 (#11) der BRD Charts, eroberte im Nachbarland Österreich die Top 25 (#24) und durfte (natürlich) in Ostdeutschland nicht verkauft werden. Kennen und lieben tat es die dortige Jugend dennoch. Nicht zuletzt durch das unerschrocken und wilde Auftreten der Sängerin, dem zeitgemäßen, innovativen Mix aus Punk, Rock und irgendwas zwischen Oper und Freistil, sowie der textlich von ihren ersten Westeindrücken ("Ist alles so schön bunt hier") geprägten Coverversion des The Tubes Kultklassikers "White Punks on Dope" („TV-Glotzer") machte die Nina Hagen auch international schnell auf sich aufmerksam und konnte neben großer Anerkennung z. B. auch eine Gold Auszeichnung für den Erfolg des Debut Albums in Holland verbuchen. Neben „TV-Glotzer“ liest sich die Titelliste des Albums mit „Rangehn“, „Unbeschreiblich weiblich“, „Auf’m Bahnhof Zoo“, „Superboy“ und anderen rückblickend fast schon wie eine „Best Of“.

Mit dem Nachfolge Album „unbehagen“, gelang was vielen Zeitwerken gefeierter Debüts nicht gelang, das Album schob sich mühelos bis auf Platz 2 der Verkaufscharts (und auch in Österreich auf den hervorragenden Platz 9). Als „Frontfrau“ besetzte Nina Hagen damit eine Position in der internationalen Punkszene, die sie auf gleiche Höhe mit Ikonen wie Patti Smith brachte. Noch immer ist sie weltweit für Ihre ganz besondere Art und Ihren außergewöhnlichen Stil bekannt.

Die Band wurde 1989 gegründet und aus dem EBM Umfeld entstanden. Im Laufe der Zeit entwickelte die Band sich mit starken Rock-Crossover Einflüssen zu ist einem der Pioniere der neu aufkommenden Dance Metal-Bewegung (Neue Deutsche Härte). "Wahrheit oder Pflicht", ihr 2004 Erfolg, war mit Platz 2 nicht schlechter im Rennen und konnte die Nummer 1 Position für die Single Auskopplung „Augen auf!“ verbuchen. Weitere Highlights des Albums sind die Hits „Brennende Liebe“ oder „Sex hat keine Macht“.

Das ebenso herausragende Album „Glaube Liebe Tod“ sorgte 2006 mit dem Single-Hit „Gott ist ein Popstar“ direkt für einen Skandal. RTL, als Sender für die damals noch nicht diskreditierte Echo-Verleihung verweigerte der Band ihren Auftritt ob des brisanten Songs. Die Ausrichter des von Stefan Raab imitierten Bundesvision Song Contest waren da nicht so zimperlich und die Band konnte mit der Album Single „Träumst du?“ den Wettbewerb gewinnen und einen weiteren Top 10 Hit platzieren.

Trotz des massiven Erfolgs war Mitte der 2000er vom Vinyl Boom noch nicht viel zu spüren und so ist bisher keine LP Auflage der beiden Erfolgsalben veröffentlicht worden. Die hier als Vinyl Classics zusammen angebotenen Alben sind somit erstmals und exklusiv in dieser Form als Schallplatte erhältlich.

Ornette Coleman, who died in June 2015 from cardiac arrest, must be counted as one of the most influential musicians in the jazz genre. His importance does not only lie in his ground-breaking recordings in the late Fifties and early Sixties, but lies more significantly in the educational effect of his work – in the fact that he always went beyond himself to the very end.

Just a little more than a month after his ground-breaking release "Free Jazz", Coleman recorded the present album, in which he perhaps distanced himself somewhat from the conceptual idea, but still guided his quartet to ever more richness of detail and creativity. "Ornette!" was the first recording with bass-player Scott LaFaro and Coleman, and the difference in approach between LaFaro and Charlie Haden is noticeable from the very first note of "W.R.U.". His playing is more direct and agile, and one can hear how he drives Coleman and Don Cherry actively onwards and more aggressively than Haden’s warm, languid phrasing.

The tracks, with titles that are taken from the works of Sigmund Freud, are all gems and serve as a wonderful starting point for the musicians’ improvisations. By now, Coleman felt himself comfortable in lengthy pieces, and neither he nor his fellow musicians had trouble in filling out time, never once lacking for new ideas. Ed Blackwell deserves a special mention – he shows himself here at his very best. "Ornette!" is a superb release and an absolute must for all fans of Coleman and creative, improvised music in general.

Paradise Lost formed in 1988 in West Yorkshire, UK, when vocalist Nick Holmes & guitarist Gregor Mackintosh came together with the idea of taking metal beyond the conventional styles of the time. They were influenced by acts such as Candlemass, Celtic Frost & Morbid Angel, & concocted a unique atmosphere of their own as a result. This was already apparent when their debut album ‘Lost Paradise’ appeared on Peaceville Records in 1990, & blended death metal with doom & some melodic elements, but it wasn’t until their follow-up album, ‘Gothic’, that the band truly made its mark.

Recorded in late 1990/early 1991 at the renowned Academy Studios in Yorkshire (responsible for classic albums from bands such as My Dying Bride, Anathema, Cradle of Filth, among many others), ‘Gothic’ was the album responsible for a whole sub-genre: Gothic Doom Metal, upon its release in 1991. Creating a more sombre & atmospheric form of dark extremity, with the introduction of Gregor Mackintosh’s highly distinctive & unmistakable lead guitar melodies, Paradise Lost established themselves as among the pioneering UK bands of the early nineties, becoming highly influential to a generation of subsequent greats.

This new edition of ‘Gothic’, marking the album’s 35th anniversary, is presented on limited corona vinyl, with remastered audio courtesy of Jaime Gomez Arellano at Orgone Studios. The release also includes a four page booklet containing recollections from the band on the period & the shaping of the album, as originally featured in 2021’s ‘The Lost & The Painless’.

The wait is over: With the 14th June release of One Hand Clapping, one of the most bootlegged live albums in musical history will finally receive a proper release. In August 1974, when Band on the Run was enjoying a seven-week consecutive #1 stint at the top of the UK album charts, Paul McCartney and Wings headed to Abbey Road Studios for the filming of a video documentary and possible live studio album – One Hand Clapping. Despite overwhelming demand for newly recorded material from the biggest band in the world at that time, One Hand Clapping was never officially released. 2LP- 50 years after their initial recording, the sessions for Wings One Hand Clapping will be released for the very first time. Discs 1 and 2 are newly mixed with 12 tracks that didn’t appear in the original film, including reworked extracts of Beatles classics. Seitdem arbeiten Peter Plate und Ulf Leo Sommer (zurzeit mit „Ku’damm 56“ im Theater des Westens und damit mit einem der erfolgreichsten Musicals der letzten Jahre in aller Munde) an diesem Stoff. Peter Schilling gehört zu den großen Stars der Neuen Deutschen Welle. 2023 legt der deutsche Sänger sein Debüt »Fehler im System« neu auf als 1LP auf schwarzem Vinyl. After living a number of years in the United States, GRAMMY® and ICMA Nominated Finnish violinist Petteri Iivonen returned to Europe where he became concertmaster of the Finnish Opera orchestra in Helsinki before moving to Paris to serve as concertmaster for the Paris Opera. Petteri's ability to play in many styles with sincerity and his natural lyrical facility with his instrument made him the ideal candidate to work with luminary conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen in Helsinki and now Gustavo Dudamel at Paris Opera.

Petteri commands his instrument with ease. While much of his playing is exceptionally beautiful, it is not beautiful for the sake of being pretty. I have heard few violinists with Petteri's ability to control color and timbre, and even fewer who use this ability for such musical and appropriate ends. Petteri plays a Ferdinandus Gagliano violin in this recording, built in 1767. We recorded this performance during a live concert in Alfred Newman Hall at the University of Southern California. We chose a legendary Austrian AKG C-24 stereo microphone with the original brass surround CK12 tube, Midwood vacuum tube preamplifiers and no mixer recording to Agfa-formula 468 tape. The signal path was as short as we could make it, with as few electronics between performer and final product as we could manage. We hope you enjoy the results.

The chaconne most likely originated as a dance in the New World which returned to Spain (along with much gold melted into blocks from irreplaceable Pre-Columbian art and jewelry) after the conquest of the Americas. This original chaconne offered a fast, sexy, syncopated rhythm. Composers treated this dance with increasing invention and gravity during the Baroque era. Henry Purcell wrote complex and chromatic chaconnes for violin. Bach's Chaconne, from his Partita No. 2, may represent the culmination of this genre. Petteri plays with authority and freshness in any environment, and this recording reminds me handsomely why Johann Sebastian Bach remains among my favorite composers of all time.

Pharoah “Farrell” Sanders was a leading figure in the world of jazz and his tenor saxophone playing earned him a legendary status among jazz circles.

This 2LP compilation Welcome To Love features the master saxophonist playing straight-up jazz ballads and includes the bonus track “Moonlight In Vermont”. Sanders is accompanied by William Henderson on piano, Stafford James on bass and Eccleston W. Wainwright on drums.

On his first solo album, 1981's Face Value, Genesis drummer-singer Phil Collins showed that he wasn't about to be left behind in the mire of classical-rock sludge. That LP boasted shorter songs and demonstrated that Collins had a true pop sensibility. Hello, I Must Be Going! continues that trend, with some familiar patterns emerging, wrote Rolling Stone's John Milward.

"First, there are the dramatic rock dirges that use drums as a lead instrument; 'I Don't Care Anymore,' with Collins' one-man band playing alongside Daryl Stuermer's atmospheric guitars, wins in this category. Then there are the buttery ballads, of which "Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away" is the best by virtue of a Beatles-like melody that buoys Collins' anonymously sweet voice. Both of these styles were already Genesis staples; it was Collins' uptempo soul tunes on Face Value and Genesis' Abacab that surprised old fans and found new ones. 'I Cannot Believe It's True,' with Earth, Wind and Fire's Phoenix Horns casting out clean lines, clobbers the other soul contenders on Hello, I Must Be Going!, especially his remake of the Supremes' 'You Can't Hurry Love.' Collins took the golden-oldie route on that song and the result isn't soulful, it's superfluous. Despite its trend-bucking boast of an 8-track recording, the album's rich luster is of the old classical-rock school. In fact, the LP sounds like stripped-down Genesis, ornamental but not too ostentatious. — John Milward, Rolling Stone (3 Stars)."

Paisley Park Enterprises, in Partnership with Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Records, announces expanded reissue of Prince & the New Power Generation’s multi-platinum album Diamonds And Pearls. This 12LP+ Blu-ray features 47 previously unreleased tracks and over two hours of live filmed concert footage in high definition.

Following the successful release of the 1999 Super Deluxe Edition (2019), and Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition (2020), the Diamonds And Pearls Super Deluxe Edition represents the third deep dive into Prince’s vault. It includes a total of 75 audio tracks across 7x CDs and 12x 180g vinyl records.

The set offers a newly remastered version of the album, plus 15 of the incredible remixes and B-sides from the era, including the never commercially released “Gett Off (Damn Near 10 Min.)” mix. The Super Deluxe Edition also features 33 previously unheard studio gems from Prince’s Illustrious vault, ranging from alternate versions of album tracks to numbers Prince gave away to other artists, and songs recorded while on the road in 1990.

Prince & The NPG previewed the Diamonds And Pearls Tour at Prince’s Minneapolis club, Glam Slam, on January 11, 1992. The sweaty, sold-out, last-minute show captures the sheer joy and sense of endless possibility that came to define this era. This previously unreleased live concert performance has been mixed from the 24-track master and rounds out the audio content of this 12LP set.
This same previously unreleased concert is also presented in stunning 2K video on the Blu-ray disc that accompanies both Super Deluxe Edition formats, in Stereo, 5.1 Dolby True HD, and Dolby ATMOS audio formats. The Blu-ray also features Prince & The New Power Generation’s performance at The Special Olympics at the Metrodome in Minneapolis in July 1991 (also in Stereo, 5.1, and ATMOS), as well as a previously unseen soundcheck.

The Blu-ray is completed by the long out of print Diamonds And Pearls Video Collection, originally released on VHS and LaserDisc in 1993. The 120-page hardback book which accompanies the SDE set features unseen photos by Randee St. Nicholas, and essays by: author & broadcaster Andrea Swensson; Archivist and Senior Researcher for the Prince Estate Duane Tudahl; British music critic and Prince expert Jason Draper; De Angela L. Retitled Queen I for this release, the front cover’s Queen logo, originally designed by Freddie Mercury, will be updated with the addition of the Roman numeral “I”. The original album was recorded in 1972 and was released in July 1973 on EMI Records in the UK and Elektra in the USA.

Subterranean Jungle is the seventh studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released by Sire Records in February 1983. The album appealed to a hardcore punk rock style rather than featuring several pop-oriented pieces; this is due to the fact that guitarist Johnny Ramone received more leeway with steering the overall genre with his hard rock influenced riffs.

Released in 1992, Automatic For the People is the eighth studio album from R.E.M. The reflective album, featuring the singles ‘Drive’, ‘Everybody Hurts’ and ’Man On The Moon’, reflects a soothing melancholy through the acoustic arrangement. Selling over 18 million copies worldwide, this release comes as a limited edition 140-gram Solid Yellow vinyl.

His first single Come On, Let’s Go was recorded in July 1958 at Studio B of the Gold Star Recording Studios. Phil Spector was also recording To Know Him Is To Love Him with the Teddy Bears, and dropped by Studio B to say hello to Ritchie. Released a couple of weeks later, Ritchie’s debut quickly became a number one in Los Angeles. The record went on to be named ‘Pick Of The Week’ in September’s issue of Billboard, soon reaching #42 on the national charts. Valens’ follow-up was Donna, which went to #2 on the charts in January 1959. Not only was the record a hit, it was almost eclipsed when radio DJs discovered the Bside, La Bamba, which Valens described as “an old Mexican folk song they play at weddings”.

This also became a hit, though it only reached #22 – although when La Bamba, the 1987 biopic of Valens was released, the title song went to Number One. From this point on Valens spent most of his time touring the West Coast and beyond, and also managed time for several TV shows and a movie appearance in Go, Johnny Go! Rodrigo Leão was one of the musicians and composers behind the extraordinarily successful Portuguese ensemble Madredeus. He was in the band for nearly 10 years before leaving to focus on his own solo career.

Yet, Madredeus was only one of the many stops of an incredible 30-year journey that has seen Rodrigo Leão invite internationally acclaimed singers such as Portishead’s Beth Gibbons, The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon or Tindersticks’ Stuart Staples to sing on his albums and live shows; and perform with Ryuichi Sakamoto or Ludovico Einaudi, with whom he toured in Portugal, Spain and Italy.
Rodrigo remains, though, the same quietly spoken, modest and talented Lisboner who started out as a bassist in indie-rock band Sétima Legião before moving into Madredeus’ chamber-pop, the neoclassical textures of his own early solo material and his own unique, wistful pop songs, with guest singers like alt-Fado singer Lula Pena, Brazilian star Adriana Calcanhoto, the São Paulo newcomer Thiago Pethit. This quiet man has extended his talents into new and unexpected territories over the past few years. While performing live in some of the most legendary venues of the world - London's Barbican Centre, Barcelona's Palau de la Musica, the Parisian theatres Alhambra and Grand Rex, Amsterdam's Melkweg, Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro or Washington's Kennedy Center, he has also found the time to create three major film soundtracks, including for Lee Daniels' Oscar-nominated historical drama “The Butler” starring Forest Whitaker.

For 2018, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his solo career, Rodrigo showed off the amazing versatility of his work, with the release of “O Aniversário”, a double-CD retrospective of his greatest hits and favourite compositions, and the reissue of “Os Portugueses”, the soundtrack he wrote for the Portuguese TV documentary series Portugal – A Social Portait.

At the same time, Rodrigo toured with a smaller band and started testing the material for his next studio project. This is “O Método”, his new album of all-original material being released worldwide by BMG.

“O Método” was co-produced by the acclaimed Italian composer and musician Federico Albanese, who helped Rodrigo find the leaner, cleaner sound he was looking for. More atmospheric and enchanting, while also simpler in its sound landscapes: mostly created around acoustic piano and electronic ambiences, with the presence as needed of a small string section, the 20-element youth choir of Academia Musical dos Amigos das Crianças, and assorted acoustic and electric instruments.

The album also features guest vocals from Efterklang’s Casper Clausen on “The Boy Inside” and Rodrigo’s regular violinist Viviena Tupikova on “O Cigarro”.

Rodrigo’s own daughter Sofia sings on the album’s first single “A Bailarina”, a gentle, uplifting lullaby sung in a made-up language, designed to fit in with the record’s more mysterious, spiritual sound.

For Rodrigo Leão, “O Método” is a new step forward in a spotless 30-year career and one of the highpoints of his musical development, an album that asks questions that may not have answers, but that helps the listener think, feel, become more human.

When Saracen released their debut album ‘Heroes, Saints & Fools’ back in 1981, the UK Rock scene certainly took notice. Their combination of Magnum-like melodies and Uriah Heep intensity and vocal stylings immediately endeared them to fans of the NWOBHM scene, and fans of classic British Rock in general.
All songs and lyrics were written by lead guitarist Rob Bendelow, who left prior to the release of their second album, ‘Change Of Heart’, in 1984. While this sophomore effort still contained a few Bendelow songs, the band had changed direction, moving away from the almost Pomp and NWOBHM of the debut for a more polished and Melodic Rock direction.
Unfortunately, this new direction didn’t resonate with the fans, and the band broke up not long after.
However, Bruce Mee of Now & Then Records had always been a massive Magnum and Saracen fan. Having already convinced Bob Catley to start a solo career in the late 90s, he also had very productive talks with Rob Bendelow. This great friendship resulted in the band reforming and the release of ‘Red Sky’ in 2003. Rob Bendelow and Saracen were back.
Later signing to Escape and releasing several more great albums, Rob Finally retired from the music scene a few years ago, but the band gamely soldiered on, keeping his songs and legacy alive for their many adoring fans.

In an instance of total cosmic kismet, that same Bruce Mee was also co-organiser of the inaugural ‘Tower of Fire’ UK festival, and in 2024 invited Saracen to play the event along with other well recognised names of the scene such as Nitrate, Remedy, Atack, White Skies and Gabrielle de Val. The event was multi-track recorded, and the results of the Saracen set were so good that it was decided to release a very first live album.

The title of the live album is taken from the name of their crushing opening song: ‘Crusader’. And in a further act of unbelievable karma, the magnificent album artwork and design are created by Sebastian Kozak, the very same creative artist responsible for the brilliant artwork on the band’s come-back album ‘Red Sky’ back in 2003.
All but one of the songs that day were from that incredible debut and those 5 songs, along with 3 others previously recorded live by the band, make up this totally amazing live album. Beide Original Alben sind zur Erstveröffentlichung quasi nur als „Promotion Gag“ in einer limitierten Miniauflage erschienen, die gegenüber den CD Versionen zudem abweichendem Titelinhalt hatten und für deren Exemplare aktuell über Sammlerseiten zwischen 95 und 250 Euro verlangt werden. Das wird sich vermutlich mit dieser Veröffentlichung ändern, denn die seitdem nur über den Sammlermarkt erhältlichen Titel „Geträumt“, „Halt mich nicht hin“ oder „Bruderlos“ im Vinyl-Mix sind hiermit für den Selig Fan erstmals seit 25 Jahren wieder erhältlich.

Selig selbst haben sich zudem offenbar bereits damals die Wiederauferstehung der LP gewünscht und im Eröffnungstitel „Regenbogenleicht“ absichtlich die Geräuschkulisse einer alten, abgenutzten LP hinterlegt. Die zu hörenden „Plattenknackser“ sind also gewollt und KEIN Produktionsfehler!

Inspired by the poetry of Alda Merini and her studies with composer Garret List, Italian violinist-composer Silvia Tarozzi turned to the song form after being involved for many years in contemporary music and free improvisation. Over the course of nearly a decade, Tarozzi practiced setting the poetry of Alda Merini to music and then replacing it with her own to reflect her own life experiences. As a result, Mi specchio e rifletto is a wondrous combination of baroque folk, avant-garde, and progressive music art-song that feels both poetic and earnestly autobiographical. Echoes of past masterpieces reverberate throughout: the gentle chamber explorations of Penguin Cafe Orchestra, the science fiction of Franco Battiato’s 'Fetus', the abstract free jazz flourishes of Maria Monti’s 'Il Bestiario', the sweetness of Caterina Casseli’s 'Primavera'.

As a solo performer, Tarozzi is a long time collaborator with composers Eliane Radigue, Pascale Criton, Cassandra Miller and Martin Arnold. In duo with Deborah Walker, and as a member of Ensemble Dedalus, she has worked with Christian Wolff, Jürg Frey, Michael Pisaro, Catherine Lamb, Sébastien Roux, and many others. Die 'weiße' LP GREATEST HITS" ist erstmals 1977 bei RAK erschienen und war nach einer Reihe von Top Hits die erste "offizielle" Best Of von Smokie.
Mit den Singles aus den ersten drei Alben, die für diese Kopplung ausgewählt wurden, sind schon reichlich Hits versammelt. Die zur Erstveröffentlichung bis dato völlig neuen 'Non-Album' Tracks sind dann allerdings für den Aufstieg der LP in den Legenden-Status verantwortlich. 'Living Next Door To Alice' wurde als erste neue Single ausgekoppelt und ein Welterfolg sondergleichen. Mit 'Lay Back In The Arms Of Someone' hat das Album zudem eine zweite neue Single, die ebenfalls zum Top-Hit avancierte. The supremely swinging pianist Sonny Clark hit the Blue Note scene in 1957 with a burst of creativity recording three albums in three months including the sublime Sonny Clark Trio, a six-song set of bebop themes and standards featuring bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Philly Joe Jones.

This stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket.

Die Formation „Lokomotive Kreuzberg“ hat im Grunde nichts mit Spliff zu tun, ist doch keiner der Musiker 1972 an deren Gründung beteiligt. Dennoch kann die Band als Keimzelle von Spliff angesehen werden. Durch verschiedene Besetzungswechsel treffen hier die späteren Spliff nach und nach. Zuerst stieß Manfred Praeker zur Band, ihm folgte Bernhard Potschka und schließlich Herwig Mitteregger. Der vierte im Bunde, Reinhold Heil war nach der Trennung von Lokomotive Kreuzberg gefunden, als die drei einen Mitstreiter für ein eigenes Folgeprojekt suchten. Die Zeit für Spliff war noch nicht gekommen, zuerst versuchte man mit der Sängerin Nina Hagen sein Glück, das den Musikern bekanntlich schnell zulief. Als Nina Hagen Band feierte man große Erfolge. Die Namenswahl führte allerdings schnell zu Spannungen und der Erfolg tat ein Übriges. Als Autoren vieler Songs wollten die Musiker auf eigenen Füßen stehen und nach zwei Alben war die Trennung vollzogen. Nina Hagen macht allein weiter, während „die Band“ zusammenstand. Die Gesangsparts wurden geteilt, das Talent war sowieso vorhanden, Spliff war geboren. Der erste Versuch mit dem Programm „Spliff Radio Show“ wurde wohlwollend aufgenommen, jedoch insgesamt weniger gefeiert als die vorangegangenen Arbeiten. Das änderte sich nach der Rückkehr zu deutschen Texten mit dem Album „85555“.

„85555“, nach der Bestellnummer des Albums benannt (eine Idee, die im Folgejahr mit „90125“ auch bei YES praktiziert wurde), war ein durchschlagender Erfolg. Das Album erreichte Platz 1, wurde mit Platin ausgezeichnet und verbrachte über ein Jahr (56 Wochen) in den Charts. Die Single Hits „Carbonara“ oder „Déjà vu“ klingen noch heute jedem im Ohr und sind auch schuld, dass die Band, die sich selbst eher nicht eingegrenzt gesehen hat, der Neuen Deutschen Welle (NDW) zugerechnet wird. Daran ändert auch „Das Blech“, ein weiterer Top 5 Single Hit von Spliff nichts, der aber dem Nachfolgealbum „Herzlichen Glückwunsch“ den entsprechenden Antrieb bis auf Platz 5 der Charts gibt. Auch der Titelsong und „Augen zu“ funktionieren als Single Auskopplung. Weitere Titel wie „S. O.S.“ oder „Glaspalast“ haben dafür gesorgt, dass auch das Album „Herzlichen Glückwunsch“ ein Dauerbrenner ist.

Beide Alben sind seit langem auf Vinyl vergriffen, aktuell wird parallel eine Sammler Edition von 85555 angeboten.

In my parents' living room stands an elaborately hand-forged copper kettle - my grandfather's masterpiece, hammered out of a single piece of copper. Growing up in a family of craftsmen, I have been familiar since early childhood with the attitude of perfecting a thing for its own sake.

The deepening concentration and slow maturing of execution, the craft shares with spiritual rituals, with arts, sports and the sciences. I am touched by the sight of almost ideal expressions of human activity, be it a forged piece, a perfectly build sentence or an athletic performance. I dedicate my album SKILLS to this fascination.

A branched succession of changing skills has brought mankind to the present day. The skills that were originally life-supporting grew into handy crafts and art. This development through the times reflects the enormous changes in ethics, aesthetics and morals. People describe this process in many shades, from culturally pessimistic dystopias to posthumanist utopias.

The music of SKILLS lives in this field - between hymn and melancholy.
