By the time The Second Album was released in 1966, the Spencer Davis Group had exploded onto the British music scene thanks in no small part to the incredible talent of its young organ player and singer, a kid named Stevie Winwood who had already begun drawing comparisons to some of the greatest R&B singers in history of music. The LP, again produced by Chris Blackwell, included their first No. 1 hit, a version of Jamaican singer Jackie Edwards' 'Keep On Running', which allowed the young Stevie to finally purchase his own Hammond. He has signed few of the early records in the stellar catalogue of West End, the most prominent label in the history of dance music, intimately connected to all the dancers and music lovers from the world over.

The 2-LP set features Chicago's live performance from Aug. 28, 1970 at the Isle of Wight, where they co-headlined with Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. It features extended free-form versions of their early landmark tracks, 'I'm A Man,' '25 or 6 to 4,' 'Introduction,' South California Purples' and the 'Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon.'
 Available on vinyl for the first time, this concert was featured in the Six Decades Live box set released earlier this year. It includes 2 LPs in a gatefold jacket.  

The band took off at the end of the 60s from the encounter between Graham Field and Dave Kaffinetti, that, after the arrival of Steve Gould and Mark Ashton, decided to call themselves the Rare Bird. Their keyboard dominated-progressive rock style was immediately noticed by Tony Stratton-Smith with whom the band signed one of the first contracts of the eclectic label Charisma Records (the others were Van der Graaf Generator and The Nice). Rare Bird is the band's debut album released at the end of 1969, that includes, among the striking tracks, the worldwide chart hit Sympathy, that at the time sold more than one million copies.

flutter, and decimate one's sense of time and place. The album is a collection of microtonal pieces where the
pitches were derived from acoustic instruments, and processed woodwind and brass recordings. Both
represented new directions for Wynn, and the results are pieces that are more dynamic and full-spectrum
than his previous body of work. They explode into walls of distortion and recede into quiet acoustics.

American composer and multi-instrumentalist Alvin Curran has remained one of the great emblems of experimental music for the last half-century. In 1966, along with Frederic Rzewski and Richard Teitelbaum, Curran co-founded Musica Elettronica Viva, a seminal gesture in collective free improvisation. In the early '70s, his solo work would become a crucial bridge between minimalist traditions on both sides of the Atlantic.

Canti E Vedute Del Giardino Magnetico, Curran's solo debut, was recorded by the artist himself and issued on Ananda, the small Italian imprint started by Curran and fellow composers Giacinto Scelsi and Roberto Laneri. The piece itself was put together in the winter of 1973 and presented for the first time at Teatro Beat 72 (Rome's The Kitchen).

Encouraged by the work of Terry Riley, La Monte Young, Charlemagne Palestine and Simone Forti, Curran binds the listener to aberrant notions of place and time: blending field recordings (wind, high-tension wires, beach waves, etc.) with simple and often primitive instruments. Across two sidelong tracks, Giardino Magnetico forms a lyrical collage of synthesizer, glass and metal chimes, plastic tubes, brass and the composer's alluring voice - converging in an immersive realm of Curran's inner / outer experiences.

This first-time vinyl reissue is recommended for fans of Harry Bertoia, Michel Redolfi and Lino Capra Vaccina.
