Fans of British guitar music were wondering what was coming next. Shoe-gazing had run out of steam, Madchester was over, and nothing had sprung up in their place. The scene was dominated by imported grunge music from America with Nirvana and Pearl Jam leading the way. The three biggest British guitar bands of the mid-nineties - Radiohead, Oasis and Blur - had yet to release their iconic albums which would shape the course of the UK scene for the rest of the decade.

Levitation recorded their second album, Meanwhile Gardens, in early 1993, and were set to release this ambitious and innovative work when the band split later that year. The recordings were shelved indefinitely. Had this album been released as planned, it would have had a major impact on UK guitar music, of equal importance as the breakthrough albums by the three bands mentioned above and pre-dating them by at least a year. Unfortunately, no one apart from a few dedicated fans trading low quality bootlegs were able even to hear it, and the moment was lost.
2015:
Flashback Records release Meanwhile Gardens for the first time in the original planned format. The album has been painstakingly remastered at high resolution from the original tapes and sounds as fresh and new now as it did in 1993. New artwork has been commissioned from original sleeve designer Cally at antar.

Eleven tracks have been selected by the band as the definitive version of Meanwhile Gardens to be released on 23rd October 2015 as a gatefold double LP and single CD. Three tracks recorded at the same time but not included on the album were released as a limited edition vinyl only EP on Record Store Day, April 18th 2015.

Fenster's EMOCEAN is the soundtrack to an adventure sci-fi film created by and starring the band. The epicenter of HÔN is Jesper Lidang, frontman and songwriter of The Rumour Said Fire.
When we asked Jesper to describe his new music we received a two-page essay enttled 'I vanish'. In
HÔN Jesper Lidang's personality vanishes into a universe where he can speak with multple voices and
identtes at once - a vast and larger than life universe. HÔN is a liberated pop-machine that hits the
ground running - a many headed creature that fnds nutriton and shelter in ever changing expressions
All songs are recorded and sung by Jesper alone. Nis Bysted (producer of Iceage, Cancer, Lower) has
produced and mixed HÔN together with Jesper and the result is a powerful signature-sound where you
can either plunge into the musical deep or let your body move to the music - or do both.

In March 2014 Australian singer-songwriter Carl Coleman and Danish producer and pianist Caspar
Hesselager started recording and experimentng together.
Numerous online media and indie radio have since then featured the frst two tracks from Palace Win-
ter and now, a year afer the band formed and with just a handful of shows played, Palace Winter has
signed to Copenhagen-based label Tambourhinoceros (Rangleklods, Cancer, Chorus Grant, CTM etc.).
Caspar elaborates on how the two work together: 'one of the reasons working with Carl is great, is that
his background is totally diferent from mine, yet we stll seem to end up musically in a place where we
really enjoy being. I studied classical piano, played a lot of jazz and ended up doing a lot of electronic
music and pop as well, but Carl's playing and singer-songwriter background is sort of a missing piece
in all that, something I never dived into myself apart from listening to it. We both like a lot of the same
music, and I think we just compliment each other well.'

freq_out has been a musical project since 2003 when Carl Michael von Hausswolff was invited to Copenhagen to invent a new concept for and install a sound-art installation. He divided up the audible sonic register into twelve parts and asked twelve artists, musicians, composers and architects to each accept one of the twelve parts and compose a sonic piece from it. The result became twelve compositions/art works that were simultaneously played on twelve different sound systems in the art space of Charlottenborg and by this becoming one piece.

During the following years freq_out has also been installed in the cities of Oslo, Berlin, Paris, Budapest, Chiang Mai, Kortrijk, Stockholm, Amsterdam and Marrakech.

The work is up and running in the entrance garden at the Skandion Clinique - a new hospital for cancer treatment inaugurated in May this year (2015) - in Uppsala, Sweden. It's accessible 24/7 and anyone that comes by the place can enjoy the work.

Here at Control Room Recordings we feature Analog only synthesizer recordings and "one off" and "special" projects. Our last release was from The Human League and we are pleased to be following that up with another titanic group from the 80's, Visage. Following the tragic death of Steve Strange in Feb 2015 Visage and Steve Strange's family are planning a series of events to honour Steve's life and commemorate the impact that he made on the worlds of fashion, music and style. One of those events is the fifth and final studio album from Visage. As a bridge between the highly successful fourth album "Hearts and Knives" and this future album we are pleased to be releasing a vinyl only special single.

On side A we feature an extended version of one of the highlights of the Hearts and Knives album the track "Lost in Static". This previously un-released mix will not be available on CD. It takes the moody, foreboding but uplifting original and extends it to a 10 minute synthesizer epic. The song was written for the 2013 comeback album and Steve's lyrics talk about a time away in isolation only to return once more into the fray. Robin Simons uplifting and shimmering effected guitar works in perfect unison with the foreboding synthesizer bass lines and progressive pad chord pattern.

On side B we are also pleased to feature an exclusive track made for the dancefloor, "Seven Deadly Sins Part Two". In 1981 Visage remixed their first single "Frequency 7" for the dancefloor. The rhythms were big, the PPG waves oscillated big and electro reigned. Several years later Visage again once again make a track for the dancefloor. Seven Deadly Sins again mines a deep electronic mine. It adds in driving System 700 bass, CR78 beats and darting synthesized riffs. Guest contributor then Mick Macneil dusts off his old Korg 770 for a solo reminiscent of his early 80s work with Simple Minds.

Visage History: Visage began in 1978 when Steve Strange and Blitz Club partner-in-crime Rusty Egan joined forces with Midge Ure to create a futuristic, synthesizer-led group where style and fashion were matched by experimental but accessible music. The group was soon augmented with members of Magazine (John McGeoch, Dave Formula and Barry Adamson) and Billy Currie. They recorded their first single Tar with Martin Rushent at his Genetic Studio in 1979 (shortly to become the birthplace of the Human League Dare album). Their breakthrough track "Fade To Grey" became a European hit and reached number 1 in eight countries in 1980. The band then enjoyed a series of hit singles "Mind Of A Toy", "Night Train" and "The Anvil" coming from a pair genre defying albums, the eponymous "Visage" in 1980 and "The Anvil" in 1982. In 1981 Ultravox now led by Midge Ure took off and in 1982 Midge and Billy left to concentrate on what would become one of the biggest bands of the 80's (Ultravox). In 1984 Visage made their 3rd album "Beatboy". As the public face of the band Steve Strange shot to stardom throughout Europe he continued to be active in hosting club nights (The Camden Palace, Club For Heroes) and in the fashion world. Be With Records are honoured to present the hyper-limited (200 for the world) farewell single from cult Balearic maestros Korallreven. We've been enormous fans since the beginning so we are delighted to be collaborating on this special release. As per the band's specific wishes, we have created a special one-sided, full colour 7" flexi-disc. Over to the guys themselves for their parting words:

"It has been a trippie trip, sort of a dream come true, sort of a dream become shattered. Kinda incredible how Korallreven, with this weird name in Swedish, snowballed from bedroom recordings in Stockholm into a headline US tour, festivals around Europe, amazing collaborations and all this love we have felt from all around. It's been magic. But there is a time for everything and an end to everything too, also with Korallreven.

So, enjoy this single, as you would the last drop of fresh water in the jungle. It sort of underlines exactly everything we wanted to do from the beginning but never yet achieved. Lifelovingness, big words and melancholy in three and a half minutes, for the last time.

Grund genug sich den Künstlernamen Chet Faker zuzulegen und die erste EP - Thinking in Textures' aufzunehmen. Cristobal and the Sea sind Alejandro Romero (Bass und Gesang, aus Spanien), João Seixas (Gitarre

The title of this English Electro-Pop duo's second album refers to programmer Andy Barlow and singer Louise Rhodes' dislike of Electronica's hallmark: a metronomic, foursquare beat. Accordingly, Lamb craft their music quirkily, freighting it with more nuance, musical and emotional, than most techno has.

Barlow also sounds inspired by the fiery side of Bop as well as more muted chamber music, from the dexterous synthetic bass andintricate drum programs on Little Things' to the restrained beats and orchestral tug of All in Your Hands' and Bonfire.'

The fourth track is not included on the album's track listing. It is a single struck chord which effectively ends the song B Line' preceding it. This deliberate omission is a nod to the album's title, whose sentiment is revealed in a deeper level throughout the album: unusual time signatures.

Simon Scott (b. 1971) is a British multi-instrumentalist who is currently based in Cambridge, UK. Insomni is his fourth album and his debut for Ash International and is published by Touch. His music is a fusion of digital signal manipulation combined with an aesthetic of compositional collaboration with environmental sounds and organic acoustic textures. He is inspired by his interests in sound ecology, music technology, the natural world, illustration, photography, composition and sonic art.

Below Sea Level, originally presented live in quadraphonic sound, was released on TOUCHLINE in March 2015, after 12k originally released the album in 2012 as an 80-page journal and seven track CD. It explores the aesthetics of active listening, sound ecology and the subjective distinction of compositional materials and sound timbres. Critically applauded for creating juxtapositions of analogue and digital timbres, the man-made and natural world sounds, captured in his local sunken landscape of The Fens in East Anglia, create a fusion of digital signal manipulation combined with organic acoustic textures.

Since the late 1990's Scott's solo work has been featured in a variety of international films, sonic art exhibitions, dance productions, television productions and digital multi-media projects.

He has toured worldwide since 1988 and he is the drummer for UK band Slowdive, who worked with Brian Eno on 1993 'Souvlaki ' album. His track "Für Betty" was included on the German label Kompakt's 'Pop Ambient' (2014) compilation series and his solo music has also been previously released on recording labels 12k, Morr Music, Miasmah, Sonic Pieces and Ghostly International.

Scott is also a freelance composer and sound recordist for film and television and recently appeared on the BBC program 'Springwatch Unsprung' recording aquatic wildlife and discussing his work with presenter Chris Packham. He has taught Music Technology and sound recording in Cambridgeshire and lectured at Cambridge University.

In 2008 he established the KESH recording label, releasing global artists audio and visual projects and he has also collaborated on various projects with Taylor Deupree, Nils Frahm, Machinefabriek, The Sight Below, Isan and James Blackshaw.

Peripheral Minimal is proud to announce the forthcoming 12" E.P., 'Mithra' by Philippe Laurent. 4-tracks of minimalist synth, that encompasses Kraftwerk style techno beats and electro dance rhythms that stay resolutely original, maintaining a subtlety of sound many contemporaries fail to capture. Complex electronic noises create a density, whilst synthetic almost robotic vocalisations filter into the sound-scape. The 12" will be limited to 500 copies and pressed onto grey vinyl.

Philippe Laurent is a plastic artist, musician and designer having been active since 1980. Whether working with graphic codes or digital codes, plastic arts or music, Laurent's approach is one of research, specifically having to do with people's perception of signs and symbols. As a multi-media artist, he has always been open to new technologies, whether he is composing musical works or creating graphic works.

'Double Trouble', released August 21st 2015, is the lead single and statement of intent from the 10th Public Image Ltd (PiL) studio album 'What The World Needs Now...'. Released on 10' vinyl 'Double Trouble' will be backed by 'Bettie Page' and also the additional non-album bonus track 'Turkey Tits'. Following on from the huge critical success of 2012's 'This is PiL', the band's first album in 17 years, PiL returned to Steve Winwood's Wincraft studio in the Cotswolds' to record the new album 'What The World Needs Now...' released on September 4th 2015. PiL will be on tour in UK/Europe/North America from September 2015. 'Double Trouble' is self-funded by PiL and released on their own label 'PiL Official'. The artwork for the single, partly inspired by Native American Hopi characters, was designed and handdrawn by John Lydon.

Amsterdam's Rwina Records is behind the new EP, which is Kenrick Connor's first release since his 2011 album Presents 'Kentje'sz Beatsz' on Planet Mu. That record laid out the young producer's 'Dutch bubbling' sound, which pairs cheap-sounding synths with sped-up dembow tracks, which earned comparisons to UK funky and reggaeton. Connor has gone quiet since, but with Kush In Da Sound he offers up six new tracks that further flesh out the Dutch bubbling sound.

London's Leaving Me is the fifth record by Nottingham, England's Lorna and finds the sextet offering another matchless collection of earnest, egoless indie-pop featuring the unmistakable voices of husband-and-wife songwriting team Mark Rolfe and Sharon Cohen-Rolfe. The nine-song album opens with "Like Alastair Sim" - a ballad in which gorgeous melodies steeped with heartfelt optimism unfold at a deliberate pace against a growing soundscape of strings, bells, and sparse electronics using the song's acclaimed Scottish actor namesake as its thematic guide. The single "Wayne Mills" follows with a summery blend of Scottish and indie-pop akin to Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura in which jangly guitars, analog synths, and languid, sun-soaked melodies are showcased as the Rolfes recount a tale about a neighborhood friend. The song features a guest appearance from Andy Mellon (Bellowhead, Damon Albarn) on trumpet. As a mid-album counterpoint to the densely orchestrated pop gems that precede and follow it, Lorna offers "Smothered In Hugs" - a stark interpretation of the 1994 Guided By Voices song in which an acoustic guitar anchors the Rolfe's richly textured vocals to create a marked contrast to the atonal low-fi buzz of the GBV original. London's Leaving Me closes with the Matt Harrison- (flute, guitar) penned "You, Me, and the Holy Ghost" - a reverie that captures Lorna's dual mastery of tunefulness and ambience as Sharon Cohen-Rolfe effortlessly coos melodies from the lips of Julee Cruise while patient, tremolo-infused guitars summon Angelo Badalamenti's work on Twin Peaks.

Dreamy Seattle band SEAPONY is returning this summer with their 3rd LP, A VISION, a self-released venture featuring some of the band's most fully realized songs to date, balancing wistfully crafted acoustic numbers with perfectly blissed out guitar pop jams. The Ramones' first three albums are indispensable artefacts of the late-seventies punk explosion with their venomous fusion of Alice Cooper, The Lemon Pipers and any other adolescent obsessions and college preoccupations. Ultimately, like their early live shows, these early albums are exhilarating formal triumphs. Their 31st January appearance at The Old Waldorf in 1978 enforced this with an abundance of energy and good vibes. Sweating American culture from every pore in twenty-six songs delivered with breakneck ferocity. Quite simply, it was a furore that challenged the pomp of prog and rock drawing on three albums with Rocket To Russia being the most recent. Their Waldorf appearance displays a formidable force of nature in action. Armed with guitars, drums and with the trademark '1,2,3,4..' assault, the band rip through their 1978 setlist, a near carbon copy of their more familiar January 7th NYC performance aired on the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Incidentally, Tommy Ramone would leave the band shortly after these shows to make way for ex-Voidoids drummer Marc Bell (aka Marky Ramone) to concentrate on producing. Fortunately, the records remain, but importantly, so do a handful of live recordings that can at least allow an appreciation of an equally vital part of their legacy.

Echoes proudly presents a rare opportunity to capture The Ramones at their explosive best and in their formative years when CBGB's was a minor backstreet haunt. Their appearance at The Old Waldorf on 31st January 1978, broadcast on KSAN-FM, personifies the energy and ferocity of the band as a live act and assists in securing their legacy not only as an iconic rock 'n' roll group, but also as the last true garage band. Fully re-mastered sound with background liners and rare photos.

Boa is 8 bars of drunk guitar and blistering vocoder drones. It's the debut single of Birds of Hell, a wretched re-imagining of the classic children's poem Boa Constrictor by Shel Silverstein.

Birds Of Hell is Pete Murdoch. Taking a break from Sargasso Trio, Murdoch is now exploring his darker side with songs about being eaten, dogging, and kidnappings.

Following on from last year's widely acclaimed fourth album, Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants to Leave, Scotland's The Twilight Sad today return with the news that a third single from the album, 'It Never Was the Same', will see a release on Fat Cat Records. It comes bolstered by the fact the AA-side will also include a cover of album highlight 'There's a Girl in the Corner' by The Cure's Robert Smith.

Following up on the experimental sounds of LP3 and LP4, RATATAT return to their core guitar-driven sound on Magnifique which was recorded over the course of four years in various studios in different locations including Jamaica (the country), upstate New York, Long Island, NY and their home studio in Brooklyn. The art for Magnifique includes a series of sketches drawn by Mast and Stroud during the recording sessions. What else can you expect on Magnifique: pedal steel guitar, the sound of a tiny 1940's guitar amp found in a thrift store in Guadalajara used on Intro,' a song named upon the discovery that the guys both had posters of a ' Countach' on their walls in junior high (the duo met in college), and a cover, their first ever, called I Will Return' by Springwater (aka Phil Cordell).

Saturn and the Sun is a new duo for electronic and psychic tension made up by Gothenburg residents Joachim Nordwall and Henrik Rylander. As core members of ritual rock band The Skull Defekts, they have toured the world during the past years and have released a hot line of records. As Saturn and the Sun, their common interest in harsh electronic music and deep drones is in the centre of attention.

Nordwall runs the iDEAL Recordings label since 1998 and is also found collaborating with people like Mika Vainio, Mats Gustafsson and Mark Wastell (as Oceans of Silver & Blood).

Rylander is crime scene photographer, conceptual artist and used to be the beat of the dangerous garage rock group Union Carbide Productions.

Am 07. August veröffentlichen HEALTH ihr neues Album DEATH MAGIC: Es ist größer, als alles

intensiv und heavy .
2006 gründet sich die Band in Los Angeles und veröffentlichten ein Jahr später ihr Debüt. Die Band
wird im darauffolgenden Jahr von Trent Reznor eingeladen mit Nine Inch Nails auf Tour zu gehen.
2009 veröffentlichen HEALTH ihr zweites Album.
2012 werden HEALTH von Rockstar Games dafür beauftragt, den Score zu Max Payne 3 zu
schreiben. Von der Gaming Community wird die Musik hochgelobt, später wird er als Best Score und
Best Song bei den Spike Video Game Awards nominiert.
Das Jahr 2015 beginnt für HEALTH damit, das Set der Eric André Show zu zerlegen und Musik des
neuen Albums DEATH MAGIC vorzustellen. Auf dem neuen Album ist auch der renommierte
Produzent und Künstler The Haxan Cloak zu hören (im Opener VICTIM).
Das Album nimmt sich der klassischen Kunst des Albummachens an und integriert einen dunklen,
neuen Sound und frische Visionen in den bekannten Bandsound.

2013 veröffentlichten MS MR mit "Secondhand Rapture" ihr Debüt, das in den USA Platz zwei Billboard Heatseeker Charts enterte und auch in Deutschland Top 50 chartete. Die ausgekoppelte Single "Hurricane" hielt was der Songtitel verspricht: wie ein Sturm fegte der Hit durch die alternativen Radiostationen und war 30 Wochen lang nicht aus den Top-Ten wegzudenken, außerdem wurde der Track für 65 (!) Sync-Koops weltweit verdealt! Zwei Jahre lang tourte das Indie-Duo unermüdlich um die Welt. Mit einem Paukenschlag melden sich Lizzy Plapinger und Max Hershenow nun zurück. Wie bereits das Debütalbum "Secondhand Rapture" offenbart auch "How Does It Feel" triumphalen, epischen, synthetisierten Alternative-Pop, glasiert mit zuckersüßen, eingängigen Hooklines und durchwirkt von bitterer Alltags-Lyric. Die Bässe und Rhythmen, die auch die Live-Shows der Band antreiben, sind berauschend und voller Wucht. Max' Produktion ist hypnotisch wie eh und je, verfügt aber über eine spürbar gestiegene Souveränität. Kein Zweifel: mit ihrem zweiten Album sind MS MR auf direktem Weg von der angesagten Hype-Band geradewegs in den Pop-Olymp.

Cold Showers, a band formed in Highland Park, California in 2010, fuse the brash power of their shoegaze pedigree with the smokey compulsions of post-punk and no-wave ancestors, they'd fit in well amongst their idols on the Factory or early Rough Trade back catalog, but blend in perfectly amongst the unique foliage found on the Dais Records roster.

After releasing singles on Mexican Summer and Art Fag, Cold Showers signed with Dais Records and by the late summer of 2012, Dais had released the band's debut album, Love and Regret, to a storm of industry praise and critical acclaim. After successful tours with bands such as The Soft Moon & Veronica Falls the members decided to take some time off to start crafting new songs in a more pop-oriented direction. These songs started to take form in a handful of singles and live cassette releases on Dais, until the band decided to hunker down in the studio to formalize and cement the tracks found on their new album.

'Matter Of Choice', their sophomore album, see's the band step up to the plate, with more pop sensibility under their belt, and it's this pervasive pop mode against which Cold Showers cast themselves, without ever fully relinquishing themselves from their signature piston-precision rhythms, and anthem laden synthesizer illuminations that came about within the band's formation.

Accidental Forever. The title itself captures the alienation that soaks through the music here. It could be the title of a creepy 1980's sci-fi television program directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski for the BBC, to which this album could easily function as a soundtrack. The album's sound is a unique take on Coldwave, New Romantic and '90s Pop music, built from raw, strange textures and straightforward lyrics sung in an ornately accented English casting shadows of desperation.
