Following a recent UK tour with Editors and a US string of dates supporting Peter, Bjorn and John, Talos will return to North America to support Aurora on their tour in early 2019. Full tour details below. Talos debut album Wild Alee was originally released in April 2017 and was re-released in June 2018 as a special deluxe reissue on BMG. Wild Alee was hailed as 'a spectacularly assured debut" (The Irish Times), while The Independent called it 'stunning,' and The Line Of Best Fit raved that the music 'will leave your hairs standing on end.' Some of the earliest fans in the States included The New York Times Magazine, which praised the songs' 'taut, chilling complexity,' and The FADER, which swooned for their 'swirling splendour'. Y La Bamba has been many things, but at the heart of it is singer-songwriter Luz Elena Mendoza's inquisitive sense of self. Their fifth record, Mujeres, carries on the Portland-based band's affinity for spiritual contemplation, but goes a step further in telling a story with a full emotional spectrum. Coming off Ojos Del Sol, one of NPR's Top 50 Albums of 2016, Mujeres exhibits the scope of Mendoza's artistic voice like never before. 'Soy como soy,' Mendoza says, and that declaration is the bold— even political— statement that positions Mujeres to be Y La Bamba's most unbridled offering yet. Mendoza forges new narratives from old stories of heritage and family, tracing history while forging modern chicana feminism. The raw honesty of Mujeres is in fact the raw honesty of Mendoza. Armed with the emotionality of traditional música mexicana and the storytelling of American folk, Y La Bamba's artistry is not just their musical ability but Mendoza's search for unadulterated truth. It is in an ancestral journey in which Mendoza comes to terms with the influence and limitations of her upbringing. While there is a celebration of the Mexican creativity that has informed Mendoza's life, there is a darker side to reconcile with. But it is not just Mendoza's story. Challenging a narrative and dealing with the emotionality of that effort— that is everyone's story. Mujeres was recorded by Luz Elena Mendoza and Ryan Oxford at Color Therapy Studios and Besitos Fritos Studios in Portland, Oregon. Mixed by Jeff Bond, with Grace Bugbee on bass, John Niekrasz on drums, Margaret Wher Gibson on keys, and Ed Rodriguez and Ryan Oxford on electric guitar.

Swapping oscillators for guitar strings and synth filters for dusty amps this side project continues exploration of blues music through electronics. Originally started as an experiment in programming styles with a release on Bluecid a few years back, these songs continue the droning tones and a variety of tempos that fill the six tracks. All songs were played live on machines while being captured at the crossroads of crossed wires.

No guitars were harmed, held or harnessed in the creation of this electronic project following up the Bluecid 001 release a few years back.

Spearheading the burgeoning DIY Leeds scene, 'Plastic Front' sees Treeboy & Arc release their first single of 2019, adding to the ever-growing stream of exciting singles they've released so far in their short time as a band. Opening with a jangling guitar riff, the track soon bursts into life as it crashes into a darker, more sinister tone.

'Plastic Front' came about after James from the band made a trip to Poland. He explains 'I visited Gdansk for a short but sweet 26 hour and 10 minute trip. I was on my way back to the airport and I saw someone crash going about 60mph on the hard shoulder of the motorway. My immediate thought was that they must be dead, but after 7-8 Polish men and myself running over to check, we found the man to be alive and ok, just in a lot of disbelief and confusion. People pushed the car off the road as I helped clear up broken bits of plastic and glass, then everyone just headed off as if nothing had happened.'

Speaking about where the lyrical inspiration came from, James explained 'When I was on the plane home I was more aware than usual of all of the images and constant warnings about what to do in the instance of the plane crashing. Whilst reading through it all I wrote the lyrics to Plastic Front as it all just felt like a pretty weird and odd experience.'

Having received many plaudits from the likes of DIY, So Young, Clash, BBC Introducing and more, 2019 set to be a big year for Treeboy & Arc.

Multi-platinum singer songwriter Hozier has today announced his much-anticipated new album Wasteland, Baby! set for release on March 1 on Island Records.

The album also follows Hozier's recent Nina Cried Power EP. The EP, which features Multi-Grammy award winning artist and performer Mavis Staples and instrumentation by renowned Grammy Life Time Achievement Award recipient Booker T. Jones, has been streamed over 26 million times since its release in September last year. The title track of the EP also opens Wasteland, Baby! and has already proved incredibly successful for Hozier. Barack Obama included the song in his favourite songs of 2018 playlist and the track was the subject of the Song Exploder podcast's first episode of 2019, which you can listen to here.

Icons Karen O and Danger Mouse unveil their debut recording as a duo, 'Lux Prima,' today—listen here. The song, out today on BMG, is the first to be released from a forthcoming joint album.

'Lux Prima is the first song we wrote for the record,' says O. 'After making music for the past twenty years and embarking on making this record with Danger Mouse I knew a couple things: one was that the spirit of collaboration between us was going to be a pure one, and two was that the more I live the less is clear to me. When you create from a blurry place you can go places further than you've ever been. I think we both were excited to go far out.'

As with most DE we will have stock early and will ship as soon as it arrives. SECOND LAYER was a side project of ADRIAN BORLAND and GRAHAM BAILEY, members of post punk band THE SOUND. The project was born from early punk band THE OUTSIDERS, which had both Graham and Adrian as members. Second Layer featured the voice and guitars of Adrian mixed with the bass and pioneering electronics of Graham. The music was bleak, detached, and desolate, but very beautiful. Honest songwriting and a harsh sonic backdrop set them apart from their peers. The band's first two singles were released by Tortch label. The first was Flesh As Property EP in 1979 and the second State Of Emergency EP in 1980. By 1981 Second Layer had found a home on London-based label Cherry Red and released their debut album World of Rubber in November of that year. Full of hard mechanical sounds produced by Adrian's guitars and Graham's homemade drum machines, the album actively engages the listener. Songs are manic and twisted, pervaded with haunting subterranean atmospheres. Adrian's anguished voice tackles lyrics that are politically charged and morbidly fixated. Metallic guitar riffs, moody basslines, and Wasp synthesizer beeps are set to the band's cache of processed tape loops. They are a homegrown electronic garage band that sit alongside their contemporaries Joy Division, Cabaret Voltaire and Public Image Limited. This deluxe 2xLP edition features the complete recorded output of Second Layer plus 5 unreleased demos from 1978-80. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. Each LP comes in an exact replica of the original metallic sliver and black jacket from the 1981 issue with a never seen before fold out poster made by the band in 1980 with liner notes, photos and press clippings. To celebrate 25 years of unparalleled influence, the iconic Skunk Anansie have announced the release of a new live album, 25LIVE@25, showcasing their incomparable Live presence over a career-spanning collection, to be released on 25th January 2019.

Morrissey is never one to do things the accustomed way, instead throughout his career he's carved a niche in the musical landscape which only he can occupy. And his decision to curate a brand new compilation at very short notice ahead of his tour dates, with new liner notes and a few surprises in the tracklisting, shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.

So here it is, This Is Morrissey. A collection of studio classics, live tracks and the alternative Mael mix of the ever-popular 'Suedehead', all chosen by the man himself. He explains all on this brand new interview for tremr, with this neat little summary of the tracks he's chosen:

The album is so full of life, and worthy questions, and great choruses, and quite playful.'

Housed in a standard single CD jewel case, with a four page booklet and brand new liner notes by author Fiona Dodwell, there will be two versions of the CD product, a twelve track version for the world outside of North America and a ten track version for North America, final detail of which will be confirmed on a separate note at a later point. The digital version will reflect the twelve track CD release.

There is also a thirteen track vinyl edition, with the additional track 'Angel, Angel, Down We Go Together', complete with identical liner notes only this time written in French, another of Morrissey's little curio's.

'Gallipoli', Beirut's fifth album, started life when
Zach Condon returned to his old Farfisa organ, the
same one he used to write his first two albums,
'Gulag Orkestar' (2006) and 'The Flying Club Cup'
(2007). After stints writing and recording in both
New York and Berlin, with time for Zach to recover
from a broken arm factored in, band plus producer
Gabe Wax (Speedy Ortiz, Soccer Mommy, Adrianne
Lenker / Big Thief) headed to Puglia in Italy to
finish the album.
With the remote rural setting 'the right amount of
isolated,' an intense month of 12 to 16-hour days
in the studio with day trips around the coastline
followed. Inspired by the surroundings, 'Gallipoli' is
unintentionally more visceral than Beirut's more
recent albums, alive with an energy that is further
enhanced by every creak and groan of their
instruments, every detuned note and all amp buzz
and technical malfunction being left in the cracks
of the songs.

Elena Tonra, guitarist, vocalist and lyricist of
Daughter, announces details of a solo project.
Running parallel to Daughter, she's assumed the
pseudonym Ex:Re (pronounced ex ray) for her
eponymously-titled debut solo album, a deeply
personal record that was made with both a sense
of urgency and a cathartic need. Just finished, it's
being released with equal speed.
Tonra's candid solo songs document the time after
a relationship ended and are written like unsent
letters to herself and others. Taking on a creative
moniker, she chose Ex:Re to mean 'regarding ex'
and also 'X-Ray' as a way to look inside and see
what is really there. Writing took a year but the
recording process lasted mere months, turning to
Fabian Prynn (4AD's in-house engineer and
producer) and composer Josephine Stephenson on
cello to help bring Ex:Re to life.
Elena said of the album, 'Although the record is
written for someone, a lot of the time it's about
the space without that person in it. In every
scenario, there's either the person in memory or
the noticeable absence of that person in the
present moment. I suppose it is a break-up record,
however I do not talk about the relationship at all,
and he hardly features in the scenes. He is only
felt as a ghostly presence.'

'Sometimes it's hard to say how you feel,' says songwriter-vocalist
Jade Vincent. 'These songs are vulnerable stories for me to tell -
they're things I couldn't say out loud. But I found that I could sing
them. And then I closed my eyes when they would listen.'
Listening to Vincent's songs were her partner - producer/composer
Keefus Ciancia - and DJ and producer/composer David Holmes.
Together, Vincent, Ciancia and Holmes make up Unloved, the musical
project that evolved out of a late-night Hollywood bar in 2015,
releasing a stunning debut album the following spring and this year
crafting the soundtrack to Phoebe Waller-Bridge's acclaimed new
series 'Killing Eve'.
Introduced to Ciancia through soundtrack work, Holmes found
himself invited to DJ one night and to curate other nights at the
Rotary Room. To invite Holmes to DJ is to unleash a kind of whirling
dervish of musical enthusiasm but through those nights the trio
discovered a shared love for 60s girl groups and French pop and film
noir soundtracks, Brigitte Fontaine, Shuggie Otis, George 'Shadow'
Morton, Bruno Nicolai, Lee Hazlewood and Jack Nitzsche, along with
a tremendous desire to work together.
Their debut EP - 'Guilty Of Love' - and the full-length, self-titled
album that followed in the spring of 2016, offered a quite remarkable
thing: a sound at once hauled out of the silty depths of the past and
simultaneously wholly modern. There was the soft hiss of a lo-fidelity
recording - the murky crackle of sample, beats and half-remembered,
long-lost favourite tunes. However, much of the songs' success
belonged to Vincent's sublime voice and lyrics, both possessed of an
aching, rich-smoked tone of loss and love.
Unloved's second album, 'Heartbreak', is about love. The album plays
out each song like a vignette of nothing but love. The songs that rose
up were in some ways surprising, but also felt insistent. 'They're real
feelings and real experiences that I had the guts to finally say, but
always ambiguous, this is very important to me,' she explains, 'and
always about love, one way or another.'

Together with producer Thijs van der Klugt (Douwe Bob, Sue the Night), a deepening was sought without losing the characteristic Son Mieux sound.

'Rehab Doll', recorded largely at Seattle's Steve Lawson Studios., bridges the gap
between the taut, punky energy of 'Dry As A Bone' and the bigger drums and thicker
riffs that were coming to dominate rock in the late 80s. This new edition of 'Rehab
Doll' includes a version of 'Swallow My Pride' recorded to 8-track at Endino's
Reciprocal Recording, which features a more accurate depiction of how the band
sounded when they played live. 'When I listen to these mixes, I think, 'This is how
we actually sounded - this is the kind of energy we had,'' says Shumway.
Green River's place in American music history is without question but these
recordings paint a more complete picture of the band - and of rock in the mid to late
80s, when punk's faster-and-louder ideals had begun shape-shifting into other ideas

answers, Deerhunter's eighth album is a science
fiction album about the present. Exhausted with
the toxic concept of nostalgia, they reinvent their
approach to microphones, the drum kit, the

captures the Manchester-based audio/visual duo -
comprised of Dutch artist Ebony Hoorn and British
vocalist Ellery James Roberts - at their most musically
raw and visceral.
The band wrote the album in Manchester before
traveling to Los Angeles to record with producer John
Congleton, known for his Grammy-winning work with St.
Vincent, Swans, Explosions In The Sky and Sigur Rós.
Congleton also introduced the band to Swans drummer
Thor Harris, who plays on the record. 'We were without
a drummer or a real band,' explains Ellery. 'I just
concentrated on writing the songs rather than making a
sound. We turned up in LA with that as our starting
point, this collection of Guitar & Piano demos that I'd
sent through.'
Those demos included some of the most accomplished
songwriting of his career to date, such as momentous
album closer 'For The Wild'. 'I started writing that song
years ago almost as a pastiche of trying to write real
this rock 'n' roll saviour,' he reminisces. 'The rock 'n' roll
revolutionary feels such a culturally irrelevant cliché
now, we're living in a mechanised world seemingly
indifferent to the longings of the human soul.'

M.Ward releases his ninth solo album, 'What A
Wonderful Industry', via M.Ward Records, available on

Over the last decade Ward has released a string of
acclaimed solo albums, as well as six LPs with Zooey
Deschanel in the duo She & Him. Ward is also a member
of the group Monsters Of Folk alongside My Morning
Jacket's Jim James, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and Mike
Mogis, as well as a producer on albums for Mavis
Staples, Jenny Lewis and Carlos Forster.
Via Ward: 'This is a record inspired by people in the
industry I have known - heroes and villains in equal
measure. There's some beautiful moments when you
travel for a living, and I'm grateful for being part of an
industry that's taken me around the world so many
times - but you quickly learn there's a perfectly
imperfect balance of coldblooded and warm-blooded
animals in the zoo. This record visits the most
memorable characters. There's a lot of very inspirational
people I've had the pleasure to work with but there are
also a few I wish I'd never met. It all tragically ends
with an imaginary Griffin Millinspired murder ballad. This
album is a reminder to keep your friends close, your
enemies closer and don't let the ones that just need an
extra couple hours of therapy bring you down. Anyway I
hope you like it. All names have been changed to
protect the innocent.'
Recorded in Portland, OR, the album was produced by
M. Ward, engineered by Mike Coykendall and Adam
Selzer, mixed by Rob Schnapf and features guest vocals
from Jim James.
