As technology consumed the Antikytherian Empire, the council of conjunction had no choice but to take desperate measures: Probe 2187 was launched into the event horizon of Markarian 335. Its mission was to find an escape route into an alternate reality. A hazardous mission and as the orbit failed, the probe made one last transmission before it was submerged into oblivion. The Phantom Regiment, with their time manipulation abilities, managed to capture these signals. Trusted sources claim transmitters 1200 & 1210 are the only reliable outputs for these remnants of a technologically advanced society. The Antikytherian Empire, believed to be the first cosmic empire, was never heard of again

Raw electronix all the way from Medellin, Colombia. It's Retrograde Youth making his debut on Radio Matrix. By serving us three different kind of tunes, he shows us he is definitely an artist to keep your eyes and ears focused on. Where the first track shows his more melodic side with a grimy twist, the darkness really starts to unfold on the flip. 'Love Fantasy' will fill the room and leaves no escape with its haunting bassline, flanged hihats and Earth shattering leads. And on the B2, 'No Time' is the one for the dark basements, straight up acid for the tough kids! And this is only part 1...

No Static / Automatic kick off their 2025 schedule with a new release from a lynch pin of Northern Spain’s electronic music community as Fanzine’s Roi joins the roster with a relentless EP of raw, rave-drenched Electro built for sweat-soaked warehouse floors. Giving us a real feel for how Roi channels the untamed spirit of A Coruña’s rugged landscape, Arise EP is powered by kicking and deep sub-bass and pure raw, untamed energy.

A co-founder of Spain’s much respected Fanzine collective, these tracks were originally written for his live set at the 2023 festival edition. Known for pulling from a wide range of influences, Roi works through a dynamic range of hard-punching rhythms on Arise, ending with a crescendo of dense melodies in closing track Spite.

Label heads Decoder and Jay York return to Toca with their second release, a split EP titled "Distant". This new collection of tracks aims to resonate with home listeners and DJs alike, offering a profound journey that balances introspective depth with dancefloor functionality. Techno tastemaker Enrico Sangiuliano returns to his influential NINETOZERO label with his bold new Transcendence EP featuring two very different but equally powerful sounds; one track is to dance to, the other one to listen to.

This new release caps off an impressive year for the Italian underground icon. Coming just a couple of months after his Interconnection EP and a packed season of headline shows, it marks yet another subtle evolution of his always hard-to-classify sound. The EP is a collaboration with psychedelic trance pioneers GMS, who have been making their mark since the 90s. The award-winning pair have had their music used in a trio of Tony Scott movies and have dropped several vital albums and EPs.

“GMS and I met many years ago in their studio in Ibiza and spontaneously cemented our relationship through our passion for sound”, says Enrico Sangiuliano. “They are a pillar of psytrance, and collaborating with them to interpret the concept of Transcendence was the perfect way for us to finally merge our creative visions. With this release, we transcend our individual musical paths to create something entirely new. We explore the theme of elevation, challenging ourselves to move beyond the tangible. Here, music becomes a portal, expanding consciousness and providing an escape from material reality. Together, we shaped our sounds to build an immersive experience, with a guiding voice to lead you through it. Transcendence is an invitation to let go, release mental constructs, and flow with the sound. It's a journey into a timeless realm where what you feel and who you are become one. To transcend is to connect with your deepest self—and beyond.”

Superb opener 'Transcendence' is a sleek and futuristic soundscape with dynamic drums that take you up amongst the stars. The smeared pads bring a cosmic atmosphere, the lush arps layer in plenty of trance-tinged emotion, and smart spoken words add a cinematic feel to this most escapist track. 'The Inner World' is then a suspenseful two-minute synthscape with wise spoken words that muse on inner strength. It is a rousing piece of emotional electronic grandeur.

The Transcendence EP is another strong statement from the forward-looking creative mind of Enrico Sangiuliano.

Following up, Discodancer leans into a driving techno groove, laced with acid lines and a bass built to shake big systems. Flipping to the B-side, Nothing Changes delivers a hypnotic techno tool, weaving between emotional pads and eerie leads, all carried by a relentless 4/4 pulse. Placid aka Paul Wise is the chief operating officer at ‘We’re Going Deep’ – an online community and record label, born out of a lifelong love affair with the many shades of electronic rhythm and an obsession for collecting records since 1988. With a mission to share and release new music via his We’re Going Deep and We’re Going Back imprints: you’ll find only the best in Acid, Electro, IDM, Techno and Deep House for the dance floor and your listening pleasure.

Kicking off 2025, the next WGD release welcomes the sounds of self confessed stateside Techno poser Troy Anderson to the imprint. A core part of the much treasured Down Low crew from Texas, he has previously released some mightily excellent records as Cityboy and Waverider way back when, both of which were recently re-issued on We're Going Back. As DFD, Anderson first appeared on Down Low Music compilation 'Satellite Cities' back in 2001. However, it took until 2024 for his first full EP to materialize. A somehow wonderful glitch in time, DFD productions fit easily into the early 00s canon of purist machine made magic, harboring a timeless resonance that emanates equally from a future dimension. Bringing an all important touch of human feeling to his work that is as essential as it’s comes.

Offering up 3 original cuts alongside a top shelf rework from E.R.P. (aka Convextion), the A Side kickstarts with an all encompassing, yet subtly acid inflected Electro jam. As gently sweeping rhythms breeze into your consciousness, a deftly programmed 303 creeps underneath a bubbling lead that takes center stage. Wave after wave of chorded atmosphere builds as the track takes shape, it bursts further into life as glorious high notes add another simmering layer to the mix. A wild yet sumptuous ride, this is craftmanship of the highest order. Accompanied with a remix from the original Texan space cruiser ‘ERP’, the remix injects a touch more pace to the original and drifts fully into realms of photonic fields, drenched in cavernous reverb and outerworldly effects.

On the flip side, B1 ‘Evening At Kokopelli’ orbits back towards earthly plains as Anderson veers into swirling melodics and lushly stringed elements, all powered by a solid 909 rhythm structure and bubbling acid line. A display of playful prowess that is as hypnotising, as it is enchanting. The soundscape is invitingly warm and shifts your optic over to a whole new dimension. Ending out on the pacey 2 step beat of ‘Metallic Dreams’, Anderson opts for a sparser approach as splashes and layers of filtered pads take their course, as melodic elements rise above powerful FM bass tones and fill the void with perfect measure. On this evidence, the music has most definitely been worth the wait and on this form – DFD is a name to keep sight of in the years ahead.
