Specimen Records continue their exploration into the deeper reaches of electro with an EP from Berlin based Richard Easel, featuring remixes from close collaborators Datawave and Federico Leocata. The EP comprises of 3 distinct styles in one release, Easel with intricate sublimation and experimental modular sounds of the Buchala. Datawave’s remix of Exterreri, with his trademark spatial depth charged electro and Federico Leocata with his unique funky-minimal approach, which renders his darkly mysterious sound unlike Metaphysix underpinning a sound suited to Specimen.
Richard Easel is the electro project of Berlin-based DJ and producer and Italian born Riccardo Sbardella. He derives his sense of style out of the various IDM and Hip Hop projects he has created throughout his production journey. Richard Easel is an artistic endeavour that serves as an outlet for his own interpretation of Electro. The word Easel comes from Buchla Music Easel, as a tribute to his passion for modular synthesisers, and especially for West Coast Synthesis.

After the Primal Scream, Janzon is about to bring Germany's motorcity Stuttgart back to the map of real quality techno with a bunch of stories - hidden in mysterious soundspaces. Twisted Dust faces the evil and the brave into two trippy and energetic primetime tracks with futuristic aesthetic on the A-Side, as well as the magic of funkiness and dark rituals on the B-Side. A coherent EP, between different atmospheres on the dancefloor and emotions in the art galleries.
It didn’t always crave mayhem and destruction. There was even a time when it knew peace.
For centuries, its home was safe. Hidden away in the wintery recesses of MACS0647-JD, Alania provided peace and plenty. But that was before The Invasion. Before the Caucasians desecrated all that was sacred in their campaign for intergalactic dominance.
As one of the chosen, it was taken and forced to endure the horrors of captivity. Every memory and allegiance to its former identity was mercilessly reprogrammed. Forged in the fires of greed and death, Bad Robot was reborn.
Now, blinded by rage and bound to a power-hungry master, it leaves only blood and bones in its wake. One thing is certain: no one is safe. Bad Robot is coming for you.
After his successful debut the spanish producer Nuclear Waste returns for the second release on Impakto Records, the Unusual Systems subdivision focused on early/mid 90s underground club/warehouse music sounds: techno, trance, acid, bleeps, breaks...
A side contains two dancefloor nuclear weapons. "Nuclear Acid" with cured killer 303 basslines, sonic bleeps and chaotic sampled vocals to rave the world. "Pastillas de Freno" Fat bass and bleeps on this one with craziest spanish sampled vocals, remind us to the Sheffield's bleep techno golden era with an electro touch.
"Living in the junk" opening the B side with 80's drums, an eclectic arpeggiated melody and reverberated bleeps. "Goodbye" close this killer EP with electro to techno drum patterns changes and spacy bleeps.

For its second release of 2023, Marginal Returns presents its most anticipated - and largest - output to date.
Levat is a decade-plus friend of the label, and like us, has always believed that good things come to those who wait. It has been an absolute pleasure seeing his musical career come in full blossom, with an all hardware, fully bespoke live set that is still the talk of each and every town it has visited.
Live Cutz collects some favourites from the first couple of years of live performances: an all bases covered selection of functional club music providing every angle of “our” groove. From side A’s tougher, peaky moments, the mood switches directly to B1’s technicolour explosion ‘Vai’ and the introspective, grooving B2 ‘M-City’.
C1’s ‘Re-Merge’ is a contemporary reimagining of electroclash. C2, ‘BL9’, is a collaboration with the infamous Bruno Schmidt - resulting in a textured, heads-down, tracky roller. Side D strikes a more pensive note, with the acidic infinity of ‘Ice’ and melancholically melodic sign off ’Luv 22’.

The Remixes series continues to shine, and attempts each time to bring remixers that have never been previously featured. This time we have one of the oldest and most original statesmen of the scene - the one and only Nookie, remixing an old skool tune in an old skool way, and it is beautiful to behold. Meanwhile Dj Beeno reworks Luna-C & Saiyans epic track, Innercore smashed an IOTB tune, and Paul Bradley reworks the classic 2 Pumpin by 2 Croozin.

Master of the Polish underground, Chino returns to the Pinkman umbrella with a new solo EP on the Mindri sublabel. Following on from his 2021 debut as one half of Radiation 30376, Chino turns up the dystopian dancefloor energy with a 4-tracker of dread-laden apocalyptic funk. A relentless drive of twisted arps weaving their way through thunderous drums, the crazed tension builds and builds and doesn't let up from start to finish. The perfect soundtrack to an ill-fated cinematic getaway drive that leaves you with only one final conclusion: there is no escape.
"We Are Power", Galaxian's first album in over a decade, cuts a new path. On this Foul-Up and Shipwrec joint release, Kastner presents a rumination on the confrontation and power clash between humankind, nature, the spiritual and mechanistic industrial growth societies. What is authentic power? What is granted power? What is innate natural power? How is power accessed, wielded, utilised, felt? On this album the blistering beats and razor-edged rhythms that characterise the Glaswegian's productions have been softened, the menace melted, the angst soothed (well almost.) Across eleven tracks, distinct audio vistas are surveyed. The human form takes centre stage from the opening monologue of "Out of Balance" with the entire record searching for balance between humankind, nature, orthodox culture & the machine. At times the machine wins. "We Are Power" is a corruption of voice, samples chopped, sliced and fed into controllers and sequencers to produce a dense decibel wall. That wall grows ever higher in the terrifying drone of "Anatomy of a Modern Lie." At other points, a perfect symmetry between artist and tool is found. The racing interchanges and pulses of "Universal Truths" give rise to dawning reprises and warmth. For those after an electro fix, Galaxian abides. The speed snares of "Messianic Delusions" or dripping drums of "Fields of Meaning" are soaked in the history of machine music, yet they are grander in their delivery and more nuanced in their composition. Fresh territories are explored, the playful solar dreams of "Without Form" or the cinematic grandeur of "In Reverse". This album is unmistakable Galaxian, it marks a high-point and brings with it a culmination of intense expression.
Protean producer Jaymie Silk returns to Shall Not Fade with an intensely club-driven LP. On "The Rise & Fall Of Jaymie Silk & Rave Culture" a range of vocal samples tell a story over assertive rhythms that switch rapidly so that hard-hitting acid becomes breaks before melting into sleazy, low-end bass techno. Strap in!
It"s not easy to anticipate how any release from the Paris-based Jaymie Silk will sound. A self-proclaimed musical nomad and a real jack-of-all-trades, his artistic identity is defined by its undefinability. With this release - a follow-up from "The Legend of Jack Johnson" EP released on Shall Not Fade last year - Jaymie references the kaleidoscope of sounds which inspired him to make music in the first place.
Sampling an iconic Malcolm X speech, the force of which is bolstered by giant synth swells and clattering percussion, "Freedom For Everybody" places the album in the context of diaspora and resistance - themes that run ever-present through Jaymie's music. With "The Heat", he pays tribute to late '80s dance music, with a classic Lyn Collins drum break sample and diva-esque vocals. The hard-hitting acid-tinged techno of "Start Swinging" sees the album at its most assertive before "Bad B" takes things camper with deep bass pulses and
pitched-shifted vocals which affirm "I'm a bad bitch, yeah you heard about me". "Cats Love Drums" offers another direction completely with polyrhythmic percussion and real meow's before the two closing tracks leave a taste of sentimentality, with a major-key vocal melody and a giddy 150BPM pulse ("Waiting For The Day") and an intimate slow burner ("Take Time To Breathe").
The Rise & Fall Of Jaymie Silk & Rave Culture LP drops 6th May via Shall Not Fade.

Fukuinn's 3rd release on vivid blue color vinyl. A1 is edgy electro sounds from Bristol's "Lost Signal" resident trackmaker Fazack. A2 is a deep and floating track by Relaxant. He's released an EP on Florklang Records and is one of the hottest young artists out there. On B1, Böhm, known for his acid and bleep sounds, surprises with an acid-heavy masterpiece. His successes and releases in recent years have been very inspiring. Lyon's genius, Foreign Sequence, played the best bizarre sound with pleasant melody on the last track.

Portland based act Dancing Plague has been a steady presence in the dark/cold electronic music scene for quite a few years now.
Since 2016 Conor Knowles’ solo project has been putting out one constant flow of independent releases on multiple formats such as vinyl LPs, EPs, tapes and CDs, creating one sonic palette rich with Ebm, goth, industrial and synth influences.
On their 5th studio album, Dancing Plague continues to flesh out and perfect their unique brand of crushing darkwave.
Elogium explores themes of loss, regret, rebirth and growth coupled with throbbing basslines, rave synths, and pounding drums. Knowles balances aggressive waves of electronics with enough pop sensibilities and catchy hooks to be inviting to those new to the genre.
His skills can be clearly appreciated on tracks like the first single Fading Forms which explores the somber feeling of the years passing you by. Knowles’ emotive baritone crooning paints a melancholic picture of the slow fading of time as you feel like you’re fading with it. The words fall like snow onto cold fields of pulsing 80s synths and pounding drum machine rhythms that bring forth nostalgic familiarity but feel fresh at the same time.
Fans of classic icons such as Depeche Mode, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails as well as contemporary torchbearers Cold Cave and Kontravoid do not sleep on this.
Plenty of disturbing beauty to be found in the depths of the underground
