Ministry of Sound's Masterpiece series has so far produced a collection of mixes that are already considered timeless by many. With dance music luminaries Andrew Weatherall, Gilles Peterson, Fabio & Grooverider, Jazzie B and Francois K taking the Masterpiece concept and curating seminal mix compilations.
For the latest instalment in this inspirational series, Ministry of Sound have employed the services of a Techno leviathan, a man who hails from the Mecca of Techno, Detroit and someone who not only grew up with the sound but is considered to be one of the foremost pioneers of the genre, a Grammy-nominated visionary and an artist who has consistently pushed the envelope when it comes to making and performing electronic music. Carl Craig is his name and we are very pleased to have such an esteemed member of electronic music fraternity contributing to the Masterpiece series.
With his label, remixes, original productions and collaborations Carl's list of achievements is endless, indicative of a man who never stops working and whose depth of musical knowledge is unsurpassed. The concept is simple; a mix of what Carl is playing now, what he's listening to and what he's been inspired by. Truly an exciting prospect when you consider Carl's history, his A&Ring for Planet-E and his dynamic DJ sets. Expect an eclectic, diverse selection of influences from The Temptations and Erykah Badu through to underground heroes like Kyle Hall.
Breaking new ground is in Carl's nature so to complete the album he is creating an exclusive composition that will be comprised several 'acts', a Masterpiece first.

Love OD label boss Per Martinsen AKA Mental Overdrive returns with his first vinyl release since 2010's piano-driven beauty 'My House'. Since then he has released a series of digital-only EP's and a Bandcamp-exclusive album, and the title track on this new vinyl release, 'Monster', was originally included on the 'Everything is connected EP#2' - released through Love OD in 2012. The reworked and remixed '12" version' featured on this new release is severely beefed up, and presents a fine slice of 'rave disco' (if that ever was considered a genre in its own right), and might please both those who like big music in small, dark rooms or big music in, well, big rooms. The B-side features the bouncy, percussion-heavy and organ-driven journey 'Ritual'. This has long been a crowd favourite when dropped in Mental Overdrive live-sets and might resonate well with those who share a deep love for the music from the city of Detroit - like Martinsen does.

After more than two decades of behind the scenes collaboration Juan Atkins & Moritz von Oswald present Borderland - their debut collaborative album to be released this summer on Tresor Records.
*The album - made up of 8 sequences, which seamlessly blend the styles of both masters - was recorded at the beginning of 2013 over various studio sessions in Berlin and will be released as a series of three 12"s and a CD album.
*Together with a live show being debuted in May at MUTEK festival - the record gives common voice to two independent yet mutually supporting musical journeys, achieving a singular expression of club-orientated electronic music and the freedom of organic musical experimentation.

Berlin/Zurich based label Tardis is back, enthusiastically dancing out of the studio into the dawn of a much wished-for summer. For their second release, Tardis has enlisted Paul Mac aka Jorge Zamacona who hoists in not one but three rough house killers. Picking up the trail he left fifteen years ago on his "Mosaic Efforts" mini-series for Steve O'Sullivan's Mosaic label, the veteran producer portrays dazzling acumen: Bursting with the sheer power of clever drum programming, "Cut Twice" is an offering that will make people lose their heads on dance-floors: Jagged, massive, irresistible. "The Mood" ventures into deep, silky house territories, while "Stacked Team" delivers another burning cut of dancefloor-euphoria: House! A time capsule in his own right, this EP is still firmly embedded in the now: Paul Mac produced all tracks in 2013.

At last ! The final instalment of the prestigious remix series from Regis and Ruskin's Post-Traumatic Son project. This limited first edition comes housed in an extra-special printed card sleeve with an extended spine giving enough room to fit all four 12"s from the series (bp030/30.1/30.2/30.3).

Qu keeps showing how the house sound can be streetched in ways you didn't think possible, or at least probable.

Hot on the tails of his much discussed contribution to the latest edition of Tectonic Plates Volume 4, 'Talk', and following up from his debut EP on Tectonic last Autumn, the eponymously titled 'DECiBEL EP', Jay Fotaine, aka DECiBEL, comes correct with a powerhouse duo of techno-infused 140bpm cuts.

'Whirl' takes a giddying tone from the offset as it's fast, percussive drum machine hits build pace to militant and forceful effect - like a turbo-charged, mid-90s Richie Hawton cut, re-imagined by fresh ears. Woozy snare rolls crash in over the weighted subs, instantly lighting the dance floor on fire upon impact. Flip then for 'Poke', which retains the techno-retro themes of 'Whirl', layering up the percussive parts to dramatic effect as acid lines flit and flirt around them. The heat rises and builds, then drops to nothing for a brief, deceptive moment - crashing in again with off-kilter momentum. Both sides are wonky, woozy techno cuts at the 140bpm dubstep tempo - bursting with strange energy.

For the 13th release from Paris' ghetto club label, ClekClekBoom turns to Coni, the man who released their sophomore effort in
December 2011. The EP also marks the start of a new artwork series featuring futurist portraits of the artists.
Coni's 'My Secret Diving' shows a distinct progression in the young Parisian's sound since 2011's highly popular 'Luz in the Pool /
Suma / Crush'. Whereas the former was aimed at peak-hour clubbing with upbeat house rhythms, 808s and big bass lines, 'My
Secret Diving' takes a more relaxed and confident approach.
On A-side, 'My Secret Diving', Coni goes subterranean with velvety analog synths, atmospheric crackles and muffled 4x4 kicks whilst
a seductively calm voice repeats something just incomprehensible to create a space that is at once both hypnotic and personal. B1,
'Flip' steps into harder hitting territory with high-passed, distorted claps, skippy rides and squelchy, percussive synths for a grooving
Chicago House Tool. The final track, 'Feels Like Home', uses pitched toms, distant rides, serene, floating chords and a retro-
sounding mix to construct a euphoric piece of dance floor nostalgia.
This second outing from Coni demonstrates a sonic maturity, evidenced in the patience and confidence of all 3 tunes that will surely
make it a go-to record for any DJ seeking to construct blissful tranquility in the early hours.

Another visionary Dub-Techno album from Berliner producer FENIN. He is a SHITKATAPULT artist since the label's existence and always experimenting with musical soundscapes, echoes and beats. A journey through ten years of producing is to be found on his last release MAXIS AND MIXES, containing classics like DONE and clubhit NONE OF THEM. With his new album HEARTWARE he opens a new musical chapter of his work, which is Dub/Techno influenced and evolves from there. Lars FENIN manages to create tracks like the album opener ES GIBT SCHLIMMERES which works with a massive bassline without any HiHats, bassdrums or clicks. Chords and echos are moving around the bassline, filling it with soul. The beats come in with PICKING UP and takes the album through a jungle of sounds. Highlights are also the afrobeat track WINDSURF or the hit RECEIVER, that Lars produced with the singer POLY, both timelessly beautiful and totally FENIN. On HEARTWARE it's the sounddesign and mix that makes the album so special, often rather developing towards an ambient-mood, rather than dancefloor-mood. The various style can also be heard in clubtracks like TONES AND DROVES, SILENT TRAIL or RESTLESS. Towards the end of HEARTWARE we find proper Dub again: DOWNHILL begins groovy and dubby and looses itself in the end in echoes and dissolving beatstructures, overlaying each other, slowly fading away into open spaces. SAME PICTURES comes up from there with the wonderful voice of WYANNA FRIEDRICH sung over atonal chords, discosounds, broken beats and a crystal-clear chorus. Is this pop music after all

"BEHIND" is his longplayer debut on ORNAMENTS and is a mirror of all his influences from dub
techno, ambient, downbeat, Detroit techno and house music. Never before has Martin incorporated his
music so much in analog hardware, field recordings and hidden messages.
He has invited orchestral musicians to collaborate on the project and one of his main ideas was to use
no samples and generate every sound with a range of classic analog instruments using modern
techniques of the year 2013 without loosing the old spirit.
Guests vocal collaborations from around the world include Robert Owens, Brothers' Vibe, Delhia de
France, Keter Darker and Bajka. Each of them adding their unique character to the album indulging
the listener into new mystical directions.

Many friends of "Echtzeit" appreciated his "cl versions 1 - 4" of the sixth
melted recordings release, so some of them did their own interpretations of
one of the themes. These 10 tracks come on two releases: already released
"part 1" and this new "part 2": again melted label owner and manager "ka.pe
with an endless light sound together with clear and straight drums. Madera's
redub I is deep and dub techno with a little kind of funk. "meridian six", an
unknown project with a light, hard but also melodic and rhythmic electro
sound. And finally "insect o." of "etui records" performes a long upbuilding
melodic deep techno hymn.

Titan's Halo Records presents its second reference, made by Madrid techno veteran producer DJ F. This EP titled Calma includes four oneiric techno tracks that gravitate around the concept enunciated in its title

Leipzig turns up the filter once again: Time for a new vinyl-only release on OR*S.

By contrast, Krink, the young hit machine from the Audiolith entourage, has the synthies glow with his piece For You.
Third in this league is RJ who comes wheeling round the corner with a 100-bpm disco track.
The slickly fielded vocals casually sprinkled with a German accent of 'Fresh Blaize' make Daft Punk look like a support band.
The release is rounded off with one out of three artist offset prints by Nora Heinisch, Felix Schneeweiß, and Florian Seidel.

Genre bender Phon.o finds new perfection in merging UK bass music with techno, garage and even house music. Not in a wild mash-up kind of way, but very organic and natural sounding. After last year's dystopic debut, 'Super Strength EP', rising Parisian Cédric Bros AKA Marcelus returns to Tresor with something a little more deep and shiny in 'Emerald'. Once again Marcelus conjures up the spirits of Detroit and Berlin techno, moulding them here into dreamy modern house incantations—an inspired blurring of the lines the well-versed Frenchman has been rehearsing over the last decade. It was two astounding first releases for DJ Deep's Deeply Rooted House imprint that made the underground dance community sit up and take notice, records that emitted an unprecedented level of craftsmanship for a fresh-faced newcomer.
*He has continued to impress on follow up releases over the last few years, meanwhile proving to be a flexible and intriguing sound designer, playing with numerous styles and yet always turning in something distinctly 'Marcelus'. 'Emerald' is no different, but instead of tough and rushing euphoria, he delivers something altogether warm and frothy, revealing yet another side to this prismic producer, as well as adding a lighter node to the Tresor catalogue.

It's been 4 years since labelboss Darko Esser released an EP of his own on Wolfskuil Ltd. The focus as of late has been on his Tripeo project, resulting in two vinyl only Trips to critical acclaim. All the studio activity led to a whole bunch of other music as well and a few of his favorite sessions are bundled on this conceptual EP.

We all can relate to the feeling of being Out Of Context, that we have lost touch with our environment and the people around us or are simply just lost for words. Darko translated these abstract feelings into a soundtrack in three parts (Space, Time, Translation) as music is sometimes a better indicator of how we feel then words. Not suprisingly the result is a soundtrack that is quite moody, hypnotic and multi-layered. It's dub- and detroit-techno, Esser style. Recognizable but at the same time very distinct and personal, melodies wrapped in abstract sound design, the atmosphere both happy and sad.

Ambiguity and introspection have always been a big part of his work, this EP just takes it to the next level.
