Marcel Dettmann's letzte 12' für Ostgut Ton, die - Translation EP', ist nach über einem Jahr noch immer auf den Tanzflächen präsent. Dettmann festigte im letzten Jahr seinen Status als einer der gefragtesten Techno-DJs weiter und liefert hier erneut beeindruckendes Material für sein Stammlabel Ostgut Ton ab. Die vier Tracks der - Range EP' beweisen wieder einmal, dass Marcel nicht nur bei seinen DJ Sets auf innovative Sounds setzt.

Die düstere Atmosphäre des ersten Tracks - Range' verströmt mit Hilfe von gezielten Akzenten und Sounds eine Stimmung, die aus einer fernen Zukunft zu stammen scheint. Die Reise geht mit - Iso' in subterrane Tiefen weiter - ein unerbittlicher Beat zieht stoisch seine Bahnen und gibt den einzigen Anhalt in der fauchenden Dunkelheit.

Auf der B-Seite - Push' schraubt sich ein vielschichtiges, artifizielles Vocal empor, das von strengen Beats und HiHats langsam aber sicher in den Wahnsinn getrieben wird. Zum Abschluss der EP präsentiert Dettmann das für seine Verhältnisse eher leichtfüßige - Allies', ein Track der schon auf dem neuen Fabric-Mix von Ben Klock zu hören war. Marcel kontrastiert hier einen jackenden Groove mit melancholisch gefärbten Harmonien, die dieser kompromisslosen EP einen ruhigen Ausklang bescheren.

In the beginning of 2013 K. Soublis (aka Fluxion) met Jamaican vocalist Teddy Selassie in NY.After a brief discussion they started exchanging music and lyrics and by the end of 2013, the "Broadwalk Tales" album came to life. It's an album of musical pieces that visit the roots of reggae and dub music with the distinct Fluxion production aesthetic, combining them with more ambient atmospheric tracks as well as techno and more experimental productions.It's this broad musical palette that K. Soublis keeps broadening without loosing his uniqueness.In the words of the artist."I wanted to make something more than the usual dub techno tracks with a hint of manipulated voices every now and then.Teddy Selassie came in and gave a breath to the whole material, made it more alive, broadening the journey. I also wanted to explore the cinematic perspective over repetitive structures. I try not to repeat myself, and always try something that feels challenging.

Each track is based around the idea of giving the dj and listener alike a piece of music that will endure in the most occult part of the self proclaimed cosmos and astros that lies within each individuals mind. Pressed Friends is my brand new vinyl label. The idea is to invite a like minded producer/friend on board to make an original track for a one sided vinyl split with myself. The friend is encouraged to stretch into new territory for himself. Here we see Myk Derill push forward into his own brand of that kind of Dub that sits right in between House and Techno. It creates a versatile record that both the house guys and the techno guys - and everyone in between - can jam out to.

After his debut on Affin last year with Busker, Chris Page returns with the Used EP. While the Busker EP played around with dubby chord stabs, Used is an altogether darker beast. The slowly-building, gentle acidic groove of the title track sets the tone of the release. Tatoo follows up proceedings with an overdriven bassline, which simmers away underneath convulsing distorted stabs. Finally, Affin welcomes Mattias Fridell. Third in the Gynoid Audio Limited series is a strong and driving, dubby techno release from Antonio de Angelis, with super deep and hypnotic remix by Raffaele Attanasio.

Three years after his last full-length album on Delsin, tireless techno producer Mike Dehnert is back with another one to be released on March 17th 2014. The 104th release on Delsin, entitled Lichtbedingt, counts 12 tracks and is yet another subtle evolution away from the chord driven, functional sound he has championed before now.

Since his last album, Dehnert has continued to steer his Fachwerk label through the techno undergrowth and it has now amassed more than 25 releases in all. At the heart of the label's output has been Dehnert's own increasingly experimental techno and this new album is testament to the producer's continued exploration of the form. Where Framework was, in the words of Mike himself, 'focussed on the heavy techno form', this album explores broken bass, swinging house and beatless electronic experimentalism amongst other things.
'I love to release music. I still enjoy the album writing process very much,' says Mike, before adding, 'I have noticed that sometimes the success of a track depends on the light at club, which is why the album is called Lichtbedingt, meaning 'depends on light!''

The album starts off with a suitably sombre intro that features cold, slowly shifting synths. They set an uneasy and moody tone before 'Construction' settles into a fat, swaggering. From there you get lost in broken, ruptured, malfunctioning bits of hardware that spit out random hi hats, bleeps and gurgles and then eventually get spat out the other side into a cantering bit of dubwise techno with paranoid vocal snippets.

Moving along, the album throws plenty of diverse influences into the mix: 'Movement' is freaky and dynamic, skipping and pumping, ducking and diving through all sorts of occult synth sounds and shadowy vocal loops then 'Single Action' is like a sledge hammer groove run through with harmonic elements that glint and glisten like diamonds in the rough. Classic sounding Dehnert tracks like 'ReRe' remind us where this producer has come from, whilst the breezy house swagger of 'Emlo' show us where he might be headed.

Key to this album and Dehnert's output as a whole is, besides the killer grooves, the production: crisp and clean, full blooded and always outstanding, it makes his tracks leap out of the speakers and into minds, bodies and souls without relying on the usual tropes or same old cheap tricks.

Chance McDermott native of Kalamazoo, halfway between Detroit and Chicago (the birthplaces of techno and house music) grow up listening to radio hot mix tapes from DJ's like the Wizard(aka Jeff Mills) to Farley Jack Master Funk, although resources were limited in Kalamazoo it was only a matter of time before he was on his way to synthesisers, drum machines, and sequencers. He started creating his own sound, a unique style of Detroit hard minimal funky techno with a Chicago deep soulful sound of house. He quickly began to garner attention in 1994 as Chancellor on Black Nation Records, which caught the attention of labels in Europe such as Missile, and Sativae Recordings. Chance continues to release music all over the planet that inspires others keeping the legacy alive.
