Following his debut EP for All Caps at the end of last year, Idle Hands is proud to present Alex Coulton's next outing on wax. Both tracks are tough and low house rollers: all swollen basslines and driving percussion. Support so far from Pinch and Addison Groove.

Four track instrumental EP from LA producer Devonwho. Sun-drenched synths and G-funk vibes are the order of the day here; 'Strangebrew' and 'Sleet' zip along with their low-slung bass and melodic purple keys while on the flip 'Cactus' takes the pace down a bit. Slow jamz with a fast feel, these three rolling 4/4 workouts are rounded off with a fresh rework of the title track from fellow West Coast funakateer B Bravo (Frite Nite, Brownswood). Expect to get lured into the Purple Maze with this third release by the Dutch imprint, once again by mysterious producer Yør with his 'Modern Slaves Of Contemporary Contexts EP'. Again it will be a shadowy and esoteric dancefloor experience like few others.

The EP starts with 'ABCM', a dystopian landscape of buzzing machines, ticking percussion and raw drums that builds and builds until eventually coalescing into a foreboding and roughshod house groove. The sound of circling space ships, dangling glass tubes and other odd effects flesh out the groove into something really quite intense.

'Dystopia' continues in Yør's tradition of contrary titles, because it's in fact a soothing cut doused in ambiance that relaxes you after the agro ride that went before. There are some bumpy beats underneath the whole thing but the large spaces above are what mostly occupy your mind, before 'Fear And Desire' comes over like a deep, spare Redshape cut: searching synths, a fine grain texture and plenty of disheveled Detroit vibes.

Closer 'Phaedra's Love' is a scuffed deep house kicker with delicate tambourines, somber buried melodies and a only the faintest sense of optimism muffled in its concealed core... Modern Slaves Of Contemporary Contexts, then, is another great EP from an unordinary sonic world.

Here we are with the first Curle of 2012, after a lengthy but refreshing hibernation. To wake up slowly but surely, we picked out these two fine dubby techno tunes. The A-side is kinda housey even. Man at work is Resoe from Copenhagen, a fixture on the Danish Echocord label. He is also a part of Pattern Repeat and runs his own Baum imprint. We will release this one on limited transparent green & white mixed vinyl.

Toby Tobias has been honing his production skills since the mid nineties. By the time he released on Rekids in 2006, Tobyís work was already of a high calibre ñ and he's now decided to share his unique sound with us. In his first full release for Quintessentials, ìOne night on mare streetî, Toby blends his love for House and Disco and shows again his true class. What counts for Toby Tobias counts for the remixers too: they have their own sound!
