A Strangely Isolated Place was responsible for releasing some of the most beguiling and magical music of 2016, including superb full-length excursions from 36 and Merrin Karras. Predictably, this full-length from regular collaborators Christopher 'Lav' Landin and Ludvig "Purl" Cimbrelius is rather good. It was inspired by a large number of field recordings Landin made while holidaying in Greece back in 2014, which Cimbrelius combined with his own pianos, beats and electronic textures. After some to-ing and fro-ing, they ended up with a set packed full of evocative ambient and electronica pieces that match melodies and chords to the gentle rhythms of nature.

Each of Shades' three LPs features suites of tracks that, considered alone, comprise their own distinct, unique worlds. Disc One opens with "I Know The Face, But Not The Name," an unabashedly plaintive trip through classic electro rhythms; flip it over for "The Words Are Only Sounds," a haunting affair for synthesizer and voice. Disc Two's "The Electric Eye is Upon Me" swirls endlessly, while "Shiba Inu Dub" is cut for the floor and coy as its namesake. Disc Three's jackin' "Feel Your Body" will cause you to do just that; "German Friendship" sounds like D.A.F. on dissociatives.

Ever since their initial singles were released in the mid-1990s and became international calling cards for the Chain Reaction label, the Porter Ricks duo of Thomas Köner and Andy Mellwig have represented that crucible point in which techno music leaked into new social environments and became the background music for cutting-edge cultural critique.

Their submerged 'scuba' sound, presented in dark tone colors and reverberating to infinity, is now instantly identifiable as one of the 'soundmarks' of Berlin club culture. Just as importantly, it is still a palpable aftershock of a pre-millenial genre explosion that saw deep dub, shimmering post-rock, abstract hip-hop and art-damaged noise all drinking from the same well of inspiration.

For proof of Porter Ricks' enduring legacy, look no further than the fact that 'dub techno' is now a stylistic movement that has expanded far beyond the confines of Berlin and the Basic Channel / Chain Reaction label alliance (where Mellwig's mastering skills also played a starring role). Lurid traces of PR's aesthetic can now be found in the work of producers like Andy Stott and Miles Whittaker, showing the potential for the duo's unique 'aquatic' techniques to be applied to a variety of different musical contexts.

Their new LP on Tresor, Anguilla Electrica, may be their first full-length release in seventeen full years, but it radiates with confidence and with a clarity and intensity rarely seen in a world so oversaturated with communications noise. It's made clear at once that it's a continuation of a sonic ideal rather than a tribute to what has already been achieved: the duo is not idly sitting back while their newer acolytes do their talking for them.

This new LP is well worth the wait and is a life-affirming one in an uncertain and perilous time, drowning out daily anxieties like a rush of incoming surf - yet it is far more invigorating than relaxing. True to the Porter Ricks tradition, it will be just as exciting hearing this music as it will be to experience what new cultural mutations it leaves in its wake.

Yding is a groovy crossover track which fits well in the world between techno and house. Watch out for the phat funky bassline.

For the second part of Osiris' 50th release celebrations, we get another new track, 'Regret Was Never So Sure', from head honcho Simon Shreeve in his Mønic guise: a piece that nods to his past but looks firmly to the future of bass-driven music.

The track then gets some very special treatment on the B side from Regis, who blends its core textures with his own unmistakable percussion, before Mønic returns to close things out with 'Forbidden Memories': an ambient piece with high-hats that seem to dance delicately on ice, and claps layered with reverb in true Mønic style.

Last year, Hieroglyphic Being (producer of astral electronic explorations touching house, techno, industrial, avant-jazz and noise), percussionist and producer Sarathy Korwar (who fused traditional folk music of the Sidi community in India with jazz and electronics on his debut album Day To Day' released by Ninja Tune in collaboration with The Steve Reid Foundation), and Shabaka Hutchings (the highly respected British saxophonist and co-founder of Sons Of Kemet, Mercury-nominated The Comet Is Coming and Shabaka & The Ancestors) - recorded a 100% live improvised session at the iconic Lightship95 studio moored at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London. They recorded over 2.5 hours of music across 2 sessions, with 90 minutes streamed live via NTS.

After 2 successful, reputation forming EP's (The Descent Chapter I & II), enigmatic musical entity Pact Infernal re emerge with their debut LP 'Infernality' for Horo. Equal parts horror and simmering mysticism, the Pact Infernal sound has collected a base of devoted listeners including musical contemporaries like Lucy, Samuel Kerridge, Trepaneringsritualen, & Oake.

'Infernality' is an accomplished coming of age for Pact Infernal, a conceptual LP that brings together the elements that worked so well on both their EP's into a robust, coherent statement. Beckoning, sinuous rhythms combine with smoky ambience and subtly anthemic riffs. The haunting percussion that has been a highlight of their past work often takes the lead, and in 'Death & Rebirth', Pact Infernal have come up with their most infectious music so far. Album closer 'Rites Of Passage' is a time capsule Pact Infernal track, perfectly combining their stylistic signatures into an essential bookend.

'Infernality' marks the beginning of another chapter in the Pact Infernal tale as they undertake their very first live and DJ performances, as well as firmly establishing they have carved out their own singular stylistic patch within electronic music, tenuously tied to many strains, but ultimately incomparable.

After the timely and well received reissue of 'Upekah' in 2013, son.sine is back with new material for the first time in 15 years on the Delsin label. A maven of slow release, organic dub techno, these new tracks prove son.sine still has plenty to say. Up first, 'A Candle' is a super deep and seductive track with big hits, bouncy drums and rich, rounded synth stabs that hypnotise and warm for nine great minutes. 'An Island' is then a more heady and atmospheric track with propulsive, lumpy percussion, vinyl crackle and textural static that sooths the brain and lowers you into a more reflective state of mind. Finally, 'A Room' is the most techno of the lot - with wobbly synths, clacking drums and lots of horizontal pads it rolls on and on, deeper and deeper as distant pads evolve from feeling rueful to the edge of unease. It's a masterclass in tension and long form dub music that proves son.sine should have never gone away in the first place.

Atmospheric and ambient dub master Yagya serves up Stars and Dust, his seventh full length album and second on Delsin. It finds the Icelandic artist perfectly pair melody and minimalism to create ten more tender tracks that will sooth both body and mind with a range of very real emotions. Electronic but organic, it is another complete work that encourages you to lay back and get lost in sumptuous sound.

Jacob Long's newest recordings under the Earthen Sea moniker deepen his compelling synthesis of shadowy rhythms and opaque atmospherics, drawing on the most potent qualities of melancholic ambient and dub techno.

An Act Of Love' follows 2015's Ink,' released via Ital's Lovers Rock imprint,
and was inspired by internal tribulations and the experience of exploring an empty nocturnal metropolis. Careful waves of tones drift and decay, beats materialize and pulse across twilit landscapes, a noir mood reigns.

Given Long's background as bassist for revelatory tribal-punk trio Mi Ami, An Act Of Love' showcases a musician in the midst of transcendent redefinition, crafting an immersive language of texture and motion.

This record was made over the course of the most emotionally difficult and stressful year in my life thus far. As such, it is both a reflection of that experience and also something that gave me space to begin working through issues to see a way forward, to a better place both psychically and physically.

An idea that was also central to my thoughts while creating the album was the concept and reality of being out in the city at night, wandering around a large urban area after dark - the contrast of empty streets but with life still going on all around, and the openness and possibilities that can bring. This music was an attempt to capture that feeling.

Swayzak returns with Gestures of a Sycophant. After a back catalogue of severely epic proportions (The seminal album Snowboarding in Argentina for example), A legendary Fabric residency & Mix CD, and a relationship with Tresor that spawned epic gigs and an LP, not to have released a record since 2012 is nothing short of criminal. 2017 then sees Beatnik Boulevard deliver two long overdue tracks of those big room stylings that has become synonymous with the name Swayzak . Even as you succumb to the bass pressure, the oceans of detail and programming flourishes that only come with decades spent in those worldwide techno bunkers bring to mind the pedigree of this release. It was once declared that Swayzak is a Techno Dinosaur - looking back that seems a justified moniker to go with the guttural, brobdingnagian sounds of these compositions. Slow moving though the spawning may have been, the monster has once again awakened.

In the midst of a busy year, full of wildly-varied accomplishments, David Lieske (aka Carsten Jost) has surprised us all with an unannounced 11-track full-length album on Dial-- his first since 2000's "You Don't Need A Weatherman..." In the interim he's kept busy curating countless releases on Dial, the label he co-runs with Peter "Lawrence" Kersten, celebrated a 15 year label anniversary with an all-encompassing 2LP/various artists'

compilation, released a gallery-edition album of his black ambient collaboration Misanthrope CA with Robert Kulisek, "Deathbridge" and launched a new magazine project (also with Kulisek) named after the speed of light i.e. "299792458m/s". All this activity, even after his recent trans-atlantic relocation from Berlin to New York City, mainly to open the American branch of Mathew Gallery has surely taken us all by welcome surprise.
Out of all of the Dial house and techno artists, Carsten Jost has always represented the most precise brand of exquisitely doom-laden house, laced with equally strong doses of melancholy and beauty. Here on "Perishable Tactics", Lieske runs through his distinctively stealthy low-slung beat-mospheres, leaning towards a decidedly low-lit and sultry space, but mixed with a fresh, gently arc-ing feeling of romance and dare I say itLove() Tellingly he's seen it fit to include 2007's "Love"-one of his best e.p. tracks from a split release with Efdemin. But while "Love" represents a climbing and yearning towards a place where love might reside, the remaining new tracks debuting here seem to represent a place where this love actually exists. This feeling is woven into his deep, medium tempo, detroit-inflected house rhythms, accented with crystalline keys, disembodied voices at times and gently soaring strings. While anger may be less in the forefront here it is important to notice that these tracks are ripe with the balance of joy and unease inherent in house. There is definitely a newfound languidity here that feels particularly like a moment shared by two (perhaps amongst many) but the atmosphere still remains decidedly pensive. See "Ambush" with it's strolling beat, moody yet sweet chords and chilling atmosphere later joined by thunder cracking in an almost-approving-manner a safe-distance away.
Of course diehard fans will find satisfaction knowing that Lieske's delectable angst hasn't completely abated. Title track "Perishable Tactics" takes a disarmingly peaceful setting and rolls a heavy fog over it to herald a sure-to-arrive fate that awaits us all. (See also "Army Green".). But with "Dawn Patrol" the whispering hi-hat and gently clanking rhythm offset by rolling strings marries the old and new Carsten Jost most successfully. All of this atmosphere bookended by ambient intro and outro tracks by Misanthrope CA make for a perfectly foreboding, elegant and deliciously dark new album release by Carsten Jost.

One month after the release of 981 Mb RSD EP, we are glad to introduce you to the new Molecule's album: 60° 43' Nord (Deluxe Edition). Some would associate the sounds of the waves to heat and relaxation and rest assured, we're part of them. After the last release in november 2009, Resoe has decided to relaunch Baum again. In the last couple of years Resoe has been really busy, and did not have the time to take care of the label. He has released his debut album and 12"s on Echocord, Echocord Colour, Pattern Repeat and Curle recordings since the last release in 2009. Resoe has decided that 2012 should be the year to spend time on his label again, and to do that he decided to use some of the old artwork, and redesign the design concept of the label. The future music profile of Baum will still be Deep Dub Techno, but there could come some releases that would fit under another genre. Cottam returns to the eponymous label that started his musical journey with a couple of first for the label - more than two tracks and a step away from the reworks that have usually characterised this label to more original work with a minimum of samples, all with a nod to Paul's continued struggle with illness.

Raising the temperature, Heat Stroke has a dub techno vibe, mixing classic house drums with crunchy percussion and disembodied voices for a tripped-out old school Chicago feel.

Lymph Nodes drops the pace and drops the bass, an almost unmasterable bassline mixes with far-easten strings and percussion for a heavyweight head-nodder that builds an unsettling vibe, proper haunted house.

Wall of Sound is nothing to do with Phil Spector but is a real builder, starting like (proper) minimal house and working the percussion & effects, with warning shouts, ghostly cries and ethereal voices that spin in &, out of the mix. Introducing Klorin, a collaboration between Kenton Slash Demon and Norin, also known as the lead singer of Swedish synth-pop trio Lust For Youth. Their debut EP 'Noncompliance' floats inbetween industrial hypnotic techno and dark ambient, created in a number of early morning sessions in Kenton Slash Demon's Copenhagen studio. Philippe Hallais returns to Modern Love with a new album, the first under his own name following his label debut as Low Jack with Lighthouse Stories in early 2016.
It's by some distance his most important work to date, setting aside the squashed dancefloor productions of his Low Jack Alias for an album of emotive, indefinable ambient pieces.
After working through different subcultural musical languages as Low Jack, this time Philippe takes inspiration from the TV biopics of high-performance athletes for an album of exceptional
emotive impact; somewhere between pastiche, tragedy and electronic futurism.
Fascinated by the sports documentaries mass-produced by the US TV channel ESPN, Hallais transcribed and amplified its dramatic recipes. These form the material of tearful soap operas
which develop the same narrative ad nauseam; the rise to the top, the betrayal, decline, salvation, comeback and, ultimately, nostalgia and regret. The TV formatting reduces the life of these high level athletes to a generic tale, transforming them into impersonators of their own lives through extreme use of editing, slow motion and musical themes.
Divided into four sides (and eleven tracks) acting as parts in a greek tragedy, the album delves into the dislocations of the mythology of sports and its achievement in mass entertainment; whereby the hero becomes a dispensable and mimetic body. Hallais delves into this unusual portrayal of triviality and disaster, naivety and cynicism that make the real life and ordeals of the hero indistinguishable from their scripted form on TV.
This obsession with storytelling and the creation of bigger than life characters forms the narrative of 'An American Hero', a parable for our times.

Edwin Oosterwal and Joris Voorn's GREEN imprint has always been an artist platform free of boundaries and restrictions. As comfortable with ambient beauty as they are sweat-inducing techno the label has always promoted a creative freedom for their artists. For their latest release GREEN welcome Reggy Van Oers, who follows up his recent remix of Ian Pooley on its sister label Rejected.

Mavie and Loctivity both follow RVO's trademark sound. Deep, dark and with a bewitching dub-touch, the focussed pair are brilliant examples of the Dutchman's talent.

Hemlock founder Untold is back on the label with his first vinyl EP since 'Doff' on sub-label HBLK back in 2015. This release follows appearances on last year's #savefabric compilation, and more recently on 'Magic City III' compiled by Mixpak boss Jubilee.

HEK029 follows a rewarding period of A&R for Hemlock that has so far delivered EPs from Bruce and Parris, with several more scheduled to drop throughout 2017.

This EP's two winding tracks are a natural progression from the fiercely textural drum work of Untold's previous singles and album 'Black Light Spiral.' Here the material is given more space to breathe and released from the grid creating a lighter more footloose feel.

'Tear Up the Club' carries the weight of DMZ era half-step using a loose web of elasticated breaks and builds to reveal a striking melodic line.

On 'Watton Res' exotic tones are further compressed and expanded in sequence, encasing drum machine, keyboards and guitar work within a delicate shell.

South Africa's Escapism Refuge returns to London's Smokin' Sessions with the On The Fence EP, following his previous effort for the label - the highly acclaimed 'Vol. 31'.

A-side and title track 'On The Fence' is an understated and subtle effort, carrying with it an introspective and moody set of harmonies and chord progressions. It's a quietly uplifting start to the EP, and the track's lead melody will remain stuck in your head for days. The B1 - 'Almost Eight' - does things differently by incorporating elements of classic Ruff Sqwad-era grime with an updated and crisp set of modern day production techniques. The EP's last track, 'Dust', uses a deep and propulsive bass line, which is augmented by Escapism's now signature use of fleeting vocal samples. It's a powerful ending to a heavyweight and emotionally-charged EP from Escapism Refuge.

But Detroit is also a feeling, a sound, a philosophical home for those who connect with the futuristic, dystopian sounds of Detroit techno and electro on a deep level.

Those tendrils of connection reach far and wide, bringing people from all over the world into orbit with the people and sounds of the city, connecting through the snap of a snare, the wiggly groove winding its way through the beat, the beauty in the sound of strings, the anger in a bubbling bassline.

On this label collaboration between two modern purveyors of techno and electro, Detroit Underground and Detroit Techno Militia have brought their game face and also connected Detroit with producers from elsewhere who've long been tapped into the techno and electro zeitgeist.Activating legendary techno mystery collective Scan 7 for the leadoff title track Direct Effect, they take us on a high speed chase, a desperately frenetic percussion jam crunching its way through the bass bedrock for maximum damage. DTM's T.Linder then slams down the accelerator on a brutal remix, kicking up the stomp and reversing the bass for a subtle melodic turn, while the ride cymbals cut deep enough to draw blood. Romania's Andrew Red Hand, known for his fierce electro production, does not disappoint with his remix. He drops down into the classic low slung bass and snare rhythm, letting the metallic bass bubble up like a submariner surfacing with soundsystem intact.

Rounding out with a cave dwelling minimalist stomper are extant techno legends Teste. Originally from Hamilton, now based in Berlin, Teste bring their hypnotic sensibility to a hammer beat to end the remix lineup with a bang.

Packing much sonic variety into four tracks, Direct Effect shows that Detroit's heart is still beating strong, collecting people in the path of its sound, mapping out a line between techno soldiers far and wide. It's what made the city great, and why it remains the spiritual home of techno.

We are very proud to announce that we have signed Arovane aka Uwe Zahn for Echocord. Uwe is in our world a legend within the electronic music scene.
He started to do releases on the old Berlin labels DIN and City-Centre-Offices. He is known for being one of the best producers ever within the IDM & Electronica scene.
Back in the 90's he listened to the music of Basic Channel, Maurizio and Fluxion a lot. This sound is timeless. In the summer of 2015 he started to record a couple of dub sounds and beats beside his collaboration work and the production of his new album.
He talked to Fluxion and told him about the growing project. He liked the tracks very much and connected it with Echocord and The Modul Ep was born.

Hailing from a small village near a mountainous place where the borders of three nations encounter, the machine loving Jens Tozzberg now arrived at Fachwerk Records. With his background as club and festival promoter and wih travels through different musical experiences in the wide range from Drum & Bass to Dubtechno his newest project at Fachwerk contains an eclectic live act with influences from Germanys earliest rave culture, chain reacting echoes and heavy bass techno. Also after many years as world traveling DJ he keeps on searching for new ways of DJing, channeling his approach as a producer into his peaktime nightclub performances.

In this outstanding 12', STK drops two beautiful analog jam moments in stu-dio. The tracks are deep, raw and soul. The B side is an amazing re-interpretation of High Tech Soul by Detroit veteran hero, Gari Romalis.

We often dream to be There, in a perfect place, where we, as we believe, must be, escape from ourselves and try to start a new life. As a result, we chance to be Somewhere, and this place doesn't meet our expectations. Then it occurs to us that there is Nowhere to find it, and the only thing we can live for is something we have Here and now.

With SA012 Dadub carefully collate legacies of philosophical thought and transpose them into a brilliantly deep EP. The vinyl opens with 'Perseverance' a slick slice of bass that writhes and twists around a syncopated core. On A2 'Temptation of Maya' seizes at the act of perception and what is captured is perfect for the mellow confusion of a Sunday morning. On the flip side the search for transcendence goes further with 'Beyond the Veil' which crackles towards a sense of enlightenment. The EP closes with a golden moment of contentment, 'Moksha'. The track titles hint at the search for revelation, which is rendered in countless experimental layers and finely wrought details. SA012 is a peek into the conceptual framework that Dadub engage with to create their vision. And just as their central image, Maya, is intangible in the perceptible universe, the tracks seem to erupt from an equally mystical place: molten, dark and fathomlessly deep.

As Anstam he has been at the forefront of dark beat science, touring extensively with the likes of Moderat and Thom Yorke's Atoms For Peace and has appeared at festivals ranging from Mutek and CTM to Sonar and Dimensions. 'Annothek' is his second EP for Macro. The three tracks build on the same set of sound sources and offer three different views at their glowing core. Elastic basslines pierce through a bed of sweet and warm chords, surrounded by sizzling noise percussion. Definitely on the more introspective side, the three cuts offer a special emotional depth while maintaining a bit more than just enough oomph to get the action going. Late night and early morning are the possible settings. It's a declaration of tender love that comes with a gentle push towards the closest darkroom.

French artist based in Paris, BLNDR is an emerging figure of the contemporary deep techno scene. When it comes to his productions, He has his own characteristic deep sound : deep rhythms and atmospheric elements have always played a major role in his music. The mood is often sinister, the pace set viscously slow. But whether it's deep and dubby, driving or gurgling with acid abstractions, the music's strong magnetism never ceases to impress.

Melbourne-based Mosam Howieson writes and performs electronic music; hypnotizing crowds with his immersive, textural, experimental live techno.

An unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with beautiful reshapes by cv313 (recorded and reshaped from 2007-2016) This is where the sound of cv313 was realized, culled from cassette tapes recorded live (1995-2000) with nothing but analog/digital hardware, no computer in sight (excluding our Commodore 64 midi sequencer, which is still alive and well today). The radius project has been absent since the final release in 2001, the first 12" appearing in 1996 (limited white label run of 100 copies pressed at Acme pressing in Canada) after revisiting these works we realized there was truly some magic here. This project was initially sent to Rod Modell & Mike Schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001. They were incredibly kind in saying it was the best demo they had ever heard and passed it on to Octal records for release, sadly, that didn't materialize and since then these masters have been collecting dust in our cassette rack for nearly 20 years now. We've spent months doing our best to restore the old tapes from our Tascam 688, an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. (that is of course, if you can get past the tape hiss) We've had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life, it's been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting these masters.

Written and produced by radius (1994-1999) restored from analog tape. reworked and reshaped by cv313 (2006-2016) mastered in echospace. We truly hope you enjoy reliving these magical times of music, very inspired by all that was happening in those years, there was just something in the air, an undeniable energy, long may it live on...

FOUR313 is a Detroit group of Deejays, musicians and producers from the 1st wave of the Detroit techno dance movement. Blake, Eddie, Santonio & Thomas have joined forces as the unit FOUR313, a group name with meaning and purpose, and that is to preserve Detroit's "true" history in dance music and support the DJ culture through vinyl releases. The debut album of FOUR313 will be released with the launch of their new record label called "Ther Label". FOUR313 will collectively release special limited edition vinyl of brand new recordings starting at the beginnning of 2017.

We welcome a new artist on Echocord Colour, the super talented Roberto Clementi from Italy.

Roberto is one of the most inventive and creative electronic music artists currently making his name known in the underground scene at the moment.

Roberto is mostly known for his releases on Soma, eps + recently he released his first album. He has also been releasing on Brendon Moeller's label Steadfast Records.

The track Bonton is a super powerfull Techno track full of deepness, heavy staps and dubby elements. Concolor is a heavy Dub-Techno trip also perfectly for the peaktime hour.
