Second release in a series of four of this Ann Aimee compilation series, featuring a diverse selection of techno tracks.
Part two of the four-part Inertia sampler again serves up four heavy-hitting techno bangers from different artists of the new-school techno generation. Again, each of the tracks is previously unreleased.

First up is Frenchman Marcelus who offers a heavy house and techno fusion, before London's Sigha goes deep and ominous with 'Finding Myself.' Redshape and Area Forty_One close out the package with frozen, static coated sounds and textured techno respectively.

Reading like a who's who of the day's most pioneering techno producers, Inertia #2 is another connoisseur selection.

Four modern techno tracks on this first release of an Ann Aimee compliation series.
The first of 4x4 vinyl releases from the Ann Aimee compilation, Inertia, this opening volume includes cuts from Time to Express Chief Peter Van Hoesen and Fachwerk's Roman Lindau as well as fellow label recruits Delta Funktionen and Sawlin.

All four new and exclusive tracks deal in techno urgency. Delta Funktionen goes deep and dramatic, Peter Van Hoesen offers up his usual dub-wise textures, whilst Lindau pairs icy hi-hats with a heavy stomping beat. Sawlin offers the trippiest techno with his delightfully dishevelled 'Excipidial' and closes out what is an essential piece of vinyl.

Lowtec returns to Nonplus with his second release on the label and smothers us with his sonic art yet again.a) Lowtec 'Coldred' This piece of steel strong Berlin edged Tech house pumps along from the outset, leaving no doubt that this is one to get on and enjoy. As the title suggests, the cold dark eerie sound is built for warehouses and masterfully grows into a 'Lost for words' type tune.b1) Lowtec 'Darrynane' 'Darrynane' is the first on the flip. Uncomfortable jittering beat compression is sketched into a subtle shift of swirling synths and vocal samples that drive this tune along on a hypnotic groove.b2) Lowtec 'Twizel' 'Twizel' is an attention grabber from the outset. The woodblock sounds and the evening session is in progress...then the synths lead and drift into a massive sound bomb of uber lusciousness, leaving the beat behind temporarily. Upon its return, the tune lifts into a late night heads down shoulder twisting groove monster...and when the Harpsichord drops, say 'hi' to the hairs on the back of your neck.

Top disco/house producer Mark E delivers his third remix for Far Out - a distinctive, mesmeric slow-burning mix of Azymuth's 'Meu Mengo', taken from the legendary samba jazz-funk trio's huge new album 'Aurora' (FARO157CD/LP).

Pal SL returns with another highly playable yet artist orientated 12" from L.D.Nero (aka Alex Cortex) who returns to the label after a nine year hiatus. His fantastically received Nite Out 12" for sister label Trelik showcased the more subtle depths of his production style whereas "Washback" grabs the bull buy the horns with an infectious analogue bassline, bold upfront percussion patterns alongside Perlon-esque guitars and organic synth washes. "Simple" picks up the pace with a more mathematical soundscape, driving the speakers whilst teasing with intermittent vocals. "Give Credit" completes the package tipping its hat to the early UK acid sound showcasing retro sound design, lo-fi vocals and historic drum loops against a deep synth and bass back-drop. After some challenging an experimental offerings last time out, secretive musicos Purple Maze are to release their second offering, the Rave EP, in December 2011. It comes from equally low-key producer Yør, and is a release that operates a little closer to the dancefloor than maze 001...

As an ally who has been with us from the start, we are delighted to be releasing our first full E.P. from The Third Man. Often recognized for his harder-edged techno output, here he blends some of his warmer and more soulful tracks with some of his darkest.

Oxford/London/Leeds based newcomer Graphics is responsible for the first release on the long gestated Granholme label. Brian Eno was once quoted as 'not wanting to contribute to the glut of CD's' in the world. Granholme's ambitions as a label are modest, but if we can do anything to detract from the glut of painfully beige electronic music available in 2011 then that will be considered a small victory. The title track crossed our path in February of this year and was the catalyst for finally making the label a reality. It's blend of intricate percussion, pounding kicks and swamp voodoo atmospherics are bound together by a relentless forward momentum rarely heard. Were we not embarrassed by such brazen hype building we'd say it fuses classic techno to the jungle derived energy of early Big Apple releases. Shit, it's happened again. 'Name This' reigns in the most unhinged flailing of it's predecessor and revels in a focussed chain gang swing. Heavy on Dub'ish atmospherics and sweeping chords it's a more discrete animal than it's other half with methodically intensified tension threatening to swallow the arrangement whole. Exclusive to the digital version is 'D-Transition'. A listless voice unsuccessfully self interrogates as decaying minor chords mount a further assault on the listeners good humour. As things threaten to get overly oppressive a heavily dampened 4/4 kick leads into a rhythm section that gradually comes to the boil before locking into a series of percussion and bass led drops. Finally we have the Zoltan remix of D-Transition. Due to be used as a promotional tool in 1 the weeks leading up to release, it takes the original and adds some hefty drum programming along with a gloriously queasy new melody for the 4am push towards daylight.

Hugo Barritt was a promoter at London's infamous 'Egg' venue, during which time he focused his attention on Robert Owen's residency at the club. A friendship was struck up and when Hugo finally decided to leave to concentrate on production he could think of no-one better to provide the vocal's to 'You Are' than the most recognisable voice in dance music, Mr Owens himself. Befitting such a wonderful coupling, Efdemin heard the track and agreed immediately to provide the remix, and a splendidly slick ride it is too, taking the merest hints of Roberts vocal whilst injecting a melodic feel for a blissed out ride through the early hours. Contrast that with high octane thrill's of murmur regular Tom Demac's remix - dispensing with the subtleties of the original in favour of a power house ride of beats and bass, warping Robert's vocal into something altogether sleazier.

"Relativismi" is the latest three track release from Sonic Groove artist Dasha Rush.

Holland's deep electronic specialist Conforce is to release his next full-length work, Escapism, on Delsin Records in November 2011.

Opening up the first of two Wicker & Steel remix EPs is CLR's Tommy Four Seven, a producer whose own debut album came out to a great response earlier this year. Tommy switches Start Chopping's 4/4 rhythms for his own broken beat foundation and adds a whole new world of bass to the track. The original's pads echo around the soundscape as each break brings back a tougher version of the beat.

Next up are Warp/Dust Science/Soma legends The Black Dog. Keeping Gonkle's beating heart in place they add subtle synths lines and pads to add a melancholic edge to one of Wicker & Steel's tougher tracks, without ever losing any of the original's impact.

On the flip-side we witness the first ever collaboration between London producers Sigha (Blueprint/Hot Flush) and Truss (Stroboscopic Artefacts/Perc Trax). Combining their love of techno with a
bass music mentality the duo serve up a jackin' semi-broken groove topped off with all manner of drones and rhythmic effects.

Finally ASC, one of the stars of Instra:mental's Nonplus stable makes his Perc Trax debut, cutting up the now familiar industrial drum assault of 'My Head Is Slowly Exploding' into an Autonomic style 170bpm stepper. A move away from the typically smooth Autonomic sound this is something completely new. Industrial -tinged D&B that is a world away from the apocalyptic No U-Turn sound of the mid to late 90's.

Nonplus+ label owners Instra:mental have been working away on solo projects in 2011 with Al Bleek working under his Boddika alias and Kid Drama as Jon Convex. Here we have Boddika's first output on Nonplus+ after his debut on Naked Lunch in 2010 and prior to his forthcoming EP on Swamp 81. His work has been supported by DJs across the board such as Benji B, Oneman, Scuba, Shy FX, Martyn, Ramadanman, Joy Orbison, Leofah, Skream and Zed Bias amongst many others.a) Boddika 'You Tell Me' 'You Tell Me' takes us back to the 80s with its electro tinged thumping drums and freaky synths. What at first seems to be a pretty straightforward track slowly mutates into an ugly beast with its pitch bent lead and warping drum grooves that slowly swing so far out and eventually re-sync with each significant transition. Not for the seasick.aa) Boddika 'Breezin' On the flip Boddika provides another striped back dancefloor warmer but here he comes with a 4×4 drum pattern. With very few elements he exploits them all to their limits and the track moves with an everchanging undercurrent of acid bass coated with subtle synth melodies that work their way around the bass in a mesmerizing arrangement. Another example of Boddika's talent for working sound to maximum effect and keeping it simple but effective.

Manchester duo A.n.D. are at the heart of Manchester's thriving electronic music community. Releases on labels such as Horizontal Ground, Inner Surface Music and Project Squared have solidified their reputation for finely honed and darkly swung techno. Here they present two weighty cuts for Bristol's Idle Hands label. 'Hydrothermal' is a stripped back 4/4 excursion with rattling hi-hats and lots of bass. 'Lights Down Low' rolls along on a syncopated techno beat, with deadly snares and a droning, almost industrial feel bringing to mind the work of Regis and T++.

Autoreply offshoot Stuga returns with a highly playable 12" that's perfect for the outdoor party season. For this release we welcome back Ben Rourke who has previously recorded for Autoreply, his Blue EP collaboration with friend Pier Bucci having sold out instantly and going on to receive critical acclaim. His tracks effortlessly build without the aid of well known formulas always using high end sound design but never forgetting that house and techno music is essentially meant for dancing. "Tahiti" is one of those tracks that's perfect for the big room or after-party alike featuring bouncy percussion, an analogue bass-line that will properly drive the sound system and one of the most infectious synth-sequences of the year. In fact the man's developed a whole new genre, "Desert Island Techno" ! "Sharpie" explores the deeper realms of dub driven techno with a very liquid approach just so slightly tipping its hat to the 90's Detroit vibe and still very much aimed at the floor. Enjoy.

In addition to the "Best Of Ambient" compilation from John Beltran, two remixes are made to honour one of our favourite electronic music producers of all time. The a-side gives us a reinterpretation of "Brilliant Flood" from rising star Kassem Mosse together with his studiomate Mix Mup. This remix smoothly pimps up the track whilst leaving the atmosphere of the original intact. On the b-side, Sven Weisemann made a composition as a tribute to John Beltran, which contains elements of different original cuts. The result is Sven's Glorify Tribute Mix, a dreamy epic adventurous nine-minute masterpiece in three parts.
