Sit down in your comfiest jawn, strap those noise-cancelling jawns on and prepare for those jawns in your eye sockets to tumble out your head when you hear this collection of thumping jawns whipped up by Philadelphia's BPMF. One half of legendary electro duo Synapse with John Selway (who he co-runs the equally-esteemed Serotonin imprint with), BPMF has been churning out no-nonsense electro smangers and experimental techno since the early 90s. Currently he holds the title of Eastern Pennsylvania's premier live-PA electro dad while also running his own label, Schmer. Various Jawns is exactly that; four varied jawns packed on one plate. 'Tell Mommy Bye' is an electro ripper in the true American lineage while 'Trunq' and 'J'pn' are lighter, more noodling affairs. This plate's entrée, 'House of Jawn', is a fourteen-minute knob-twiddling trip through the twisted fever dream of a raver long past. Thankfully our esteemed producer has given us a respite from the beatdown about halfway through. Drop the needle there to start the adventure at the Lower House of Jawn if brevity is your thing, man.

I am fortunate to present the remixes of CAITLIN Freaks & Misfits by Victor Ruiz and myself on Electric Ballroom.
Freaks & Misfits is CAITLIN’s first solo release after years of producing electronic music and songs along side contemporaries like Noir, Patrice Bäumel and Thomas Schumacher.
CAITLIN and I have collaborated on the original three track EP released on WIR Musik as well as two of the remixes on this three track offering. (Thomas Schumacher)

Tough, to the point, no-nonsense machine music is a longstanding Midwestern tradition.
Drawing a line all the way back to the old guard, The Bunker New York's latest EP is Walk The Distance, courtesy of Mark Verbos, a techno veteran and New Yorker by way of Milwaukee who put together four pieces of heavyweight dancefloor artillery, informed by an intimate, inside-out knowledge of the machinery used in the production of these tracks.
"I've been doing this for a long time. In the beginning, there was only hardware, and it feels better to make music with physical objects. Plus, I make hardware, too," says Verbos, recounting his production processes. Verbos not only produces music, he also produces the hardware he uses to make music—his company, Verbos Electronics, manufactures Eurorack synthesizer modules with a vintage sensibility. When he's making music, Verbos says, "I try to get to know the devices I use well enough that whatever I imagine can come from them. Techno is machine music. When I'm recording, it's just me and the machines."
The music, however, speaks for itself. No punches are pulled here—the record starts in top gear with "Start Up Drive," a devastating techno bomb centered around a throbbing, repeating bassline and a meaty kick drum that builds to a massive climax in the span of five minutes. "In The Back Room" kicks the tempo up a notch, featuring spaced-out atmospheric synth leads floating atop syncopated percussion. "Just A Little Late" is funkier than the other two, built around a rubbery, insistent synthesizer groove that worms its way deep into your head and doesn't let go.
The aforementioned three tracks alone would comprise a solid techno EP suitable for any number of dancefloors. But the last track on the record—its namesake—shifts gears entirely. "Walk The Distance" is a moody, pulsing slow burner, introspective and emotional. It's a haunting listen that adds remarkable depth and complexity to the record. "Walk The Distance, the track, is a reference to the fact that music is not a career. Any advice you could offer someone on how to have a successful career doesn't really apply to a career in music. By that I mean to say, process is everything, and the results don't really matter."
Sage advice indeed, but judging by Walk The Distance, Mark Verbos has figured out how to produce results that matter.
Special remarks : 12' Vinyl +Downloadcode Tracklist 12: A1 Take A Moment A2 Action And Reaction B1 Eye Contact Info text: Dub and acid are the words as Marlon Hoffstadt goes deep on 'Simple Communication' the sixth EP in his Midnight Themes series. The Berlin producer has maintained a busy release schedule in 2018 and is intent on carrying through into 2019, starting with three tracks that fly the flag for his current sound: deep, dubby and subtly euphoric. Opener 'Take A Moment' is a finely tuned piece of weighty dubbed out techno with whiffs of vintage pool parties and a lonely acid line creepin'n'bleepin on the horizon. 'Action and Reaction' harks back to the 90s, rolling out waves of pads and melodies that ascend and descend while a mean old bassline keeps proceedings on track. Clocking in at 11 minutes, the two act play of 'Eye Contact' closes the EP on a blissed out note.
Inner atmos and next time – rain into rivers, rivers to rain.
Sequence is subjective, irrelevant – it’s where we stand. Out of order, we dissolve and reform, coming together to come undone. There is no first, no now, no next – just precision points in the wide deep sky.
Another bang, another – it’s the reading which is important. Repeating in parallel, the natural loop is healing; repair, resonance, return. We live in a fragment; soft light and clouds drift like dreams into memory, showing movement in the mirror.
“Here the performer becomes free like the playful clouds high above the world of pain, suffering, happiness, ecstasy, disappointment, greed and ambition of human life”
In this present, we are touched to have unreleased business from Memphis. In unlocking the stoic DAT tapes we open a direct channel from 1993 to this now; three tracks which are meditative, essential rhythm with direct, organic charge. It’s Dream Night Dance Music and Osram 509, with RHK, En-Trance, and Microgravity.
More poetry in remembering our first release was also Memphis. Big complex loops and inner paths. Who’s been here before? All of us, one of us, none of us.

Quiet Music is a collection of pieces created by Steve Roach between 1983 and 1986 in respect for silence. The gentle electronics of Roach's synthesizers mix with flute, electric piano and nature sounds flow like breath, enveloping the listener in a sustained, delicate and translucent atmosphere. Quiet Music was originally released as a three tape cassette series in 1986 on Fortuna Records and is now being issued as a complete series on vinyl for the first time ever.
After Structures From Silence was released, Steve was receiving invitations to create music for the emerging meditation yoga and healing arts community in Los Angeles. Quiet Music 1 was originally commissioned for a meditation video, which featured a collection of video images of lush forested areas, wild flowers and natural serenity. But by the time the piece was completed the producer passed away and the project was never completed.
Quiet Music 1’s direct connection to a distinct environment set the tone for the trilogy of albums. Quiet Music 2 was inspired by Steve spending a lot of time in deserts and was created as a natural progression from Structures From Silence, and the more nocturnal feeling of Quiet Music 3 were pieces designed for Steve’s personal healing practices.
The Quiet Music series was released in a timeline that is often seen as linear but this music was created directly along side the dynamic fully electronic albums like Now, Traveler, and Empetus. In the early 80’s Steve would be shifting between the invigorating sequencer-percussive driven music and then move directly into weightless drifts and contemplative spaces.
This way of creating grew naturally out of a desire to not settle into one place sonically and to nourish himself with a space that could be creative and fine tuned, creating a calm and renewing zone while living within the hectic pace of urban life in Los Angeles.1,

The elusive Berlin label MASK are back with another anonymous release featuring four
analogue driven tracks entitled ‘Cliff’.
Known for being purveyors of mysterious yet exquisite hardware induced tracks, MASK continue to
hold up their reputation following on from ‘Hunter’ that picked up support from the likes of Laurent
Garnier, Elena Colombi, Machine Woman, Anastasia Kristensen and DJ Deep. ‘Cliff’ involves four
people live jamming on analogue equipment in a Berlin based studio.
A1 begins with crunchy drums fused with revolving, modulated synths and obscure elements that are
soaked in acid flavours before the A2 focuses on an electro-tinged sequence in harmony with ominous
atmospherics and eccentric oscillations.
On the flip, sweeping pads balanced with intense kicks and washing synths take the focus on the B1
until the B2 rounds off this magical EP with wavering compositions, hard-hitting percussion and
unsettling sound design keeping the atmosphere intense yet truly absorbing.

Bionic Romance EP is Anetha's second release on Blocaus series following 2017's very successful "Leftover Love EP".
Once again, Anetha continues to play to her strengths and delivers four tracks - diverse and rich in the depth, texture and hypnotism of techno deep space explorations. On the A-Side, "Myiuki & Patrizia" starts the release as an intricate, atmospheric title track with warm synth lines; "Ultra Speed Dating" features a muscular four-to-the-floor beat and a perpetual stomp to devastating effect perfect for peak-time.
On the B-Side, "Silicon Desire" takes us in a slightly melancholic direction with its hypnotic pulses. "Virtual Ritual" closes the EP as no nonsense purified techno with a raw groove.
Absolutely essential!

Left for top, right for bottom, colours for every piquant taste your deepest thoughts dare to divulge,
your hankie tells tales, and orange tells the most. Anything, anytime, nothing is left off the table. An
open invitation to explore and excite. Looking for a ride
This is the story behind the third single and opening track from DJ Hell's critically-acclaimed fifth
album Zukunfstmusik, 'Anything, Anytime' pays homage to the handkerchief code, a unique flagging
practice most popular during the most critical creative explosion of club music.
Barbed, delicate, bittersweet and introspective, the 14-minute track's softness and gradual sense of
piano-laced theatre carries certain shades of a love song. In many ways, it is.... There's love in a brute
sense. Physical openness in its most honest and forthright form. But there's also a sense of romance
for the most sensational outburst of hedonism and pleasure that dancefloor music ever experienced
- the 70s gay movement wherein major metropolises throbbed awoke and boundaries and barriers
were challenged and shattered every night.
These lightning strikes of illicit freedom, carnal energy and momentary abandonment are the
deepest seeds of all forms of electronic music, sentiments that echo throughout Hell's unhurried,
unrestrained salvo. Percussive connotations of leather, the cavernous reverb conjuring open
industrial spaces such as you might find in New York City's meatpacking district at the time. The
palpitating heartbeat, occasional flashes of sense-blurring giddy physical fizz... Up above, down
below, choose your colour, while many love songs are babymakers, 'Anything, Anytime' is much
more of a bed breaker.
While the original wears orange with pride, the remixes wear their own colours. The first of two
remix packages, both Solomun and Argy come at Hell's original from contrasting sides. Solomun's is a
light blue. The molten bass and slinky electro breakbeats creating a sensual, slippery experience that
could lead to absolutely anything, it writhes and continually pleasures with every twist and turn.
Argy's, meanwhile, is bold jet black. Dominant, intense and unrelenting. It's 'straight outta hell' by-
line fulfilled with every sweaty arpeggiated peak and vivid flashing strobes, this is visceral, sweaty
techno and there's no release without the safeword.
Two more remixes will follow imminently while the original comes complete with its own stark visual
representation. In keeping with Hell's use of Tom Of Finland's cult visuals on the artwork of the
album's first single 'I Want U', 'Anything, Anytime' continues to reference seminal cultural
documents of the era. This time with its video, a stylised and provocative, black and white piece that
riffs on the ground-breaking 1980 Al Pacino movie Cruising. An exploration of the iconography and
stark fashion that visually represented progression, a celebration of overt sexuality but also a sense
of restraint and composure... The calm before any storm your handkerchief may cause. Let's go
cruising...

It’s more than a year since his last EP on the label but it feels like right on time to deliver his most powerful tracks up to date. He hasn’t been quiet all this time, with remixes and appearances on labels like Obscuur Records, Konflkt or Enotaktik, 2019 was a prolific year for the spanish producer.
Four dancefloor oriented cuts including a massive remix of the rising Irish artist and labelfriend Tommy Holohan. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what we call techno. From the driving bass of “Spontaneously” to the rave anthem “Die Suppe”, these tracks won’t let your feet stick to the floor.

Nathan rouses his Cambria Instruments label for his first album since 2017s ‘Providence’. ‘Blizzards’ is a returns to a clubbier sound, whilst keeping the melodic depth and rewarding narratives that have entranced his fans worldwide since his early records on Border Community and his seminal track ‘The Sky Was Pink’. Using a similar setup to his slamming live show, the album’s track were mostly recorded in one take with a deliberately limited hardware selection.

Words like soulful techno, real techno and true techno are easily thrown around these days but what really is a 'true techno' record? Arguably we could put Nu Era's debut 1994 "Beyond Gravity" album in that bracket.
"EVOLVE" follows in that footpath and in some ways goes back to an earlier techno sound, pretty hard to do that while still sounding futurist. EVOLVE does just that, its Nu Era still evolving without loosing formation. From the opening track "Metal Butterfly" the 909 drum machine powers through classic Marc Mac (4hero) chords and melodies, that 909 kick drum and baseline work in combination to deliver a more edgy techno belter on "Flying Colours".
The 4x4 kick is broken up on tracks and electrified on "Theme From Joe Smoke" the yin and yang forces provide a haunting but uplifting electro master class. "Closer To Mars" creeps into a fusion style tech workout, with jazzy, soulful keys and melodies intertwining, EVOLVE is complexed but simply soulful with big influence from Detroit and has all the hallmarks of a classic in waiting.

"Content" is the 9th album of the US based producer Ricardo Donoso.
Terry Waite was taken hostage in Beirut in the late 1980s, before ISIS, before smartphones, before the Internet as we know it. He endured a mock execution during the first year of his five-year captivity, which was spent mostly in solitary confinement. Years later, during a Q&A session, he was asked to identify the main thing he had learned from his ordeal. The answer, came as a shock—it was not the excruciatingly hard-won appreciation for life and loved ones that one expects to hear. “Contemporary humanity,” declared Waite, “has lost the ability to engage in productive solitude.”

On 1972, veteran producer and live musician Tobias Freund offers up four tracks of layered and meticulously-crafted techno using his extensive archives of tape recordings collected since childhood.
Referencing a mix of profound political events in German history
and esoteric meditation guides, the Berghain resident's warm, detailed sound edges beyond the floor toward brain-tingling home listening and wanderlust autobahn escapism. The EP begins with the titles track’s buzzing synths panning rhythmically across the stereo field like a hypnotist’s pocket watch, while a somber, sampled string melody pushes further into cosmic territory before concluding with a bi-lingual eulogy. “Schism” soars with a never-ending snare roll and sparse kicks – an entire track floating on a break that never lands.
On “The Wisdom Of No Escape”, Freund combines soft,
polyrhythmic bleeps with esoteric vocal samples on an inward
path of hallucinogenic internal discovery. EP closer “Electric Storm” makes a turn for the ultrastoned, with hats and writhing vocals disintegrating and reforming over a soft, round steady pulse.
Overall, 1972 features a sound that Tobias. has honed for over 30 years, having initially made a name for himself mixing various pop hits in the 80s and 90s while simultaneously producing experimental electronics under various pseudonyms including Metazone, Phobia, Pink Elln, and Zoon. On his own Non Standard Productions imprint he has regularly collaborated with the likes of Max Loderbauer and Ricardo Villalobos and most recently with visual artist Valentina Berthelon as Recent Arts. His releases and lengthy live techno sets with AtomTM continue to set the bar high for improvised electronics.

The first segment of the (limited to 300 copies) 12″, 140gr. polyvinyl chloride chunk, which extends to 9:22 minutes commences with muffled and fathomless pads. Then a three steps acidish build up subtely incises through like a reptilian sword coming out of an another dimension. The next track is in a similar vein, however, uplifted presence of cowbells and tight repetitive drums sways towards a house/funk guidance. Side B’s a staggering 12:19 minutes crepuscular descent into crying structures referencing to 90’s sci-fi universes. Additionally coming along with the digital download, is a downreaching, abysmal ambient track called «Cleavage». Yes, either in your confortable conapt or in a decaying, technological dystopian, space-cargo style gig, this will drive your audience to definitive brain melting!

Part curse, part declaration, part Rorschach test, Varg's new collection of EPs is a barely balanced inferno. Side by side, raw club burners arrive from the wretched plateaus levelled out by chaotic neurotransmissions, while sweet and soft anthems take the pain away. The first EP, Sky City: Even in the Heart of Heaven, Angels Can Still Feel Fear, affirms Varg's deft and agile take on techno. Here minimalism spars with blissed out programming, unafraid to pepper sedate hooks with intricate percussive rufige. With each track's eyes on the raving kru, Varg restates his permit to take it to the floor. It's foreboding, but it always has been--and Sky City: A Weak Heart to Break (Spit) makes this its method. Launching itself under the opening track's dazzling melancholic sweep, the EP loses its way in every direction at once by the last track's glitching gabber meltdown. Fair warning is required for the demonic and cosmically unhinged piece of rhythmic noise that begins the second side.

With 'Onto Duat' Maenad Veyl sculpts Dark Eroticism. Four tracks that encode a vibrating sensuality within the scope of an insistent staccato, enforce a radical cancellation of the smooth. 'Onto Duat' is an EP that will be released on Bedouin Records in late September.

Mark Broom’s ‘Z Beats’ follows ‘One Sound / Myth’ (June) and ‘King EP’ (September) as the third in a trilogy of EPs for EPMmusic and also includes a remix by Truncate.
The new EP opens with two superlative versions of the title track, ‘Z Beats’. Mix 1 is a stripped and deep minimal-techno drill while Mix 2 utilises a warm bass and variegated melody. Up next is a phat and phunky ‘Z Beats’ remix by Truncate, the alias used by Audio Injection (LA’s David Flores) to focus on a deeper, raw techno sound. While bringing up the rear is another treat from Broom; ‘OT’ is a glistening peak time stomper that closes the EP as it started.

Exalt Records is proud to present Paul Hierophant’s new release which sets out to further explore the outer reaches of space. Part One of the Utopian Dystopias series, released in 2019 was a retrospective affair, cut through with the fear of the unknown as we went further to explore the outer reaches. Part Two however bubbles with the sound of possibility, with brooding breakbeats, space and bass. The spaceships return with positive news for the uncertain times ahead.
Paul Hierophant has a long history of involvement with the music scene, stretching back to the late 80’s, which has included record shop management, DJing, club nights and record label manager. Paul has a blistering live set ready to roll and releases slated on several key imprints this year, including more Hierophant Dubs on his own label Hierophant Records.

Here comes the first release from the newly formed Memory Box label, spawned from the club night of the same name who regularly throw parties celebrating the influences of today's electronic music scene whilst encapsulating some of the most memorable moments in time, and inviting legends and icons to play. The Memory Box label comes from the same stable as Groovepressure, run by Robin Ball who is the main artist on this first release. Memory Box is about keeping the Acid House culture and vibe alive so it seems fitting that the first release is dedicated to the acid sound. Acid Stomp and Back in the Dayz are homages to Acid House, whilst Acid Duck is a slice of psychedelic tech-house and Sqolch brings a more contemporary feel to the acid house sound.

Originally released by Michael Simon & Shahin Moshirian back in 1996 on Master Maximum Trance Traxx, Silverplate is considered one of the best Hard Trance releases of all time, with the vinyl release becoming highly sought after over the years.
Following Michael Simon giving us his permission, this massive Hard Trance Classic is being repressed, 23 years later, in collaboration between Simon Cutmore & Underground Music.
Although the original DATs were no longer available, this has been remastered from uncompressed CD source, and sounds fantastic. The label artwork pays homage to the original sleeve & centre label, and comes in a generic sleeve.
We're extremely proud to repress this masterpiece!

Having released on Shifting Peaks with label mates such as Trevino, Youandewan or Mak & Pasteman, modular synth aficionado CutOff!CutOff! is finally delivering his first wax on the Berlin based TOYS imprint. TOYS' affection for UK club sounds is mirrored in the EP's title track "Shifted" that nods towards the British dance music tradition
with its ravey pads and vocal snippets amidst heavy hitting stabs.
The drone sounds and gnarly synth of "Volatile" delve deeper into a sinister atmosphere.
The relentless machine groove of this modern take on underground Techno is aimed at warehouses and basement clubs alike."--##" is the track on the EP that was most obviously born out of jam sessions that characterize CutOff!CutOff!'s approach of his improvised live sets he plays in clubs.
Demonstrating raw energy, it's an example of simple ideas constantly moving and evolving.

Fabio & Grooverider have been at the forefront of UK dance music for over 3 decades. This is the roots of their story told through music.
The 2 London DJ's are part of the DNA of the global Jungle / D&B movement and they have remained relevant, cutting edge, authoritative and essential to this truly underground art-form since it's inception. RAGE could arguably be the ground zero of Jungle. The party was started at London's cavernous Heaven club by Fabio & Grooverider in 1988, at the height of Acid House fever that was making it's way up and down the motorways, slip-roads, fields and warehouses of the M25 and further beyond every weekend, troubling the nation, the police, your parents and the press as it went. RAGE was a different beast, it certainly channelled some of that Acid energy but pitted it against the new and exciting sounds emanating from Belgium, Amsterdam, Detroit, Sheffield, Essex and Hackney and in turn created a new style, a new sonic attitude and energy in the process. Rumbling bass-lines, narcotic synth rushes and roughly chopped and sped-up breakbeats all merged into a style that we now know as Jungle. Nothing like this had been heard before, this was a brand new style and it was coming out of London's West End and Fabio & Grooverider were the people firmly behind it.
RAGE is approaching it's 30th anniversary. It's sonic and cultural legacy is still being felt today, Fabio & Groove are still shutting down raves and festivals every weekend all over the world with their superior DJ sets and musical knowledge guided by their pioneering spirit. This musical selection you hold in your hands, the first of 4 parts, sees them delve into their prodigious memories and record boxes to select a true musical representation of the very beginning of one of the UK's most unique and influential musical movements of the last 50 years. Across 4 x 2 x 12"s compilations we are taken on the journey through the sounds of RAGE, accompanied with track by track notes from Fabio & Groove themselves. This is the sound of the underground, from the inside out.
This is a masterclass in the old-school. The roots. There is no filler here, it's simply ALL killer. Lovingly selected and programmed by the masters - 'The Living Shock' & 'The Ladies Choice'. Produced in conjunction with Above Board distribution and Fabio & Grooverider. All tracks mastered from original sources and fully licensed. Mastering by Optimum, Bristol. Artwork and design by Atelier Superplus. 2019

Navigating between time and space, label head Foreign Material continues his historical journey with The Quest , a piece inspired by medieval legends.
Of Faith and Glory leads the way, an epic track which carries the knights' fervor and devotion through strong rhythmics and mystical eerie pads. American maestro Eric Cloutier provides a deep reverberating rework which brings us far underwater.
Of Flesh and Duty dives deeper into medieval madness with fierce rolling toms and hypnotic acid line. The track takes us along knights venturing deep into mysterious woods, accompanied by devastating celestial choirs into a glorious and deadly final. Deep techno craftsman A Sacred Geometry shares his vision with a strong remix that goes into battle frenzy with a powerful and mesmerizing reinterpretation.
At last, Of Fire and Fate (Digital Only Track) releases the rising tension and gives a relief after the storm with broken beats and shamanic vibes. This heroic conclusion underlines the impossibility of a far yet necessary goal leading only to death.
A bloody never-ending Quest...

Appearing on the latest Mnemosyne compilation, Hierarchy marks his debut EP on ASG providing a deep journey into rhythms and textures. Direct but still elusive, Matter/Space/Void delivers lapses of rarefied absence constantly driven by peculiar cadences. The pulsating and fragmented remix by label owner A Sacred Geometry showcases once again his diverse view of techno, constantly evolving into unexpected horizons.

Andrew Bowen & Dimitri Poumplidis, better known to the public as AnD, had accompanied REPITCH Recordings through its early stages of existence. Their two previous offerings for the Berlin-based label came respectively in 2012 and 2014, acting as cornerstones for Repitch, marking crucial points in the evolution and definition of its sound. It is only now, after a 6-year absence from the RR catalog, that the duo makes its return with ‘Beast Mode’, a five-tracker that shows no sign of giving way to softer or less energetic sounds. These are bangers: nothing more and nothing less than rave-ready, hard-thumping, bass-blasting club stompers. Ever championing of the hardest side of techno, AnD have prepared a pack of non-compromising menaces to quiet, capable of making the floor quake by means of pure, unadulterated four-to-the-floor thickness and synthetic stabbing power. This kind of attitude led them to form many kinships with similarly minded DJs and producers, the latest of which is hardcore maestro Alberto Guerrini AKA Gabber Eleganza, who turned ‘Emergency Procedures’ into an even harder affair, driving the mix into the red and turning the beat into a freakishly crippled juggernaut.

Epic link-up between two of the top live techno and house performers working today. After playing a few rare sessions with Juju & Jordash at Dekmantel Festival 2018 and Pittsbugh, Shawn Rudiman and Jordan GCZ spent a few days in Amsterdam laying the foundations for this collection of music. The tracks were transported to the Synthdrome in Pittsburgh and completed with love and craftsmanship. Spanning the gamut of electro, house, dub techno, and future jazz there is something for everyone. Enjoy this rare convergence of the creative energy of two masters.

Impromptu muscovite supergroup Lilipulu turn the needle neon with a quartet of unexpected killers for club cosmonauts, rainforest ravers, anxious insomniacs and giddy punks.
Unplanned, inspired and all the way live – the pin is glowing! Ever wondered why the Growing Bin releases sound so damn good? Well, it has more than a little to do with mastering magician Sergey Luginin, whose eagle-ears and technical know how have been a part of the process since GBR002. For the latest Glowing Pin powerplay, our man in Moscow joins some close friends on the other side of the console, letting the creative juices flow for ‘Four Amazing Tracks’. Luring Simple Symmetry brothers Sasha & Sergey and DJ & photographer Ivan Pustovalov into his studio with the promise of an afternoon stroll through the nearby Elk Forest, Sergey set the circuitry in motion and the quartet got lost in music. What begin with a plan for some simple edits and a woodland walk quickly became a full scale studio throw down, reimagining forgotten favourites amid a multi-instrumental stew of propulsive polyrhythms, low slung bass, cosmic synths and frazzled guitars. There’s techno-tribal hypnosis on the mind bending, brain blending A1, poetic post punk on the angular, janglier A2, outrageous Afro-cosmic on the freaky Floyd-in-Lagos B1 and languid ambience on the lysergic lullaby which closes the set. Recorded as they worked and presented in chronological order, this EP is a triumph of inspiration over perspiration - a snapshot of a moment which will last forever.

By now you must be already familiar with Qual being the solo project of William Maybelline, one half of the Lebanon Hanover duo. When William first stepped into the scene as an individual artist back in 2014, he declared the intention to explore the very grimmest areas in synth-based music. While Sable debut LP was unapologetically gothic in subject matter and sound, Qual's most recent and uncompromising outputs of Cupio Dissolvi EP and last year's album The Ultimate Climax merge the despairingly freezing properties of 90s EBM with the more aggressive sensibilities of industrial techno without ever diluting the intensity of either. Brand new 4-track EP Cyber Care is the perfect synthesis of both these aspects. On A side the slither of the title-track and the mechanical assault of Inject Your Mind will make you feel the hardest, most vicious side of Maybelline's creation. B side's I Have To Return Some Video Tapes and Motherblood will toss you into a ice-cold galaxy of paranoia and disorientation.
This is not an appealing world, as Qual is impossible to listen to half-heartedly - it will drag you by the jaw and butcher you in a dirty alleyway.

Robin Ball is back on his own Memory Box label with another timeless new single that comes with two alternate versions and a special remix from Saytek.
Ball has been involved in the dance scene since the age of 14 when he first started his own parties. Since then he has emerged as a singular voice with a discography that takes in essential cuts all the way back to the mid-nineties, most often on Groovepressure. A fine recent run of tunes under his own name have helped establish this label (and party) as a vital modern outlet with the likes of Nina Kraviz, B.Traits, The Black Madonna and Ben Sims all having supported.
Up first here is a remix from Saytek. After tearing up two Memory Box parties with his innovative, improvised live set, the UK talent lands on the label ahead of a third live set, this time at Corsica Studios on April 4th. He is, of course, a hardware master who speaks through his machines and has done so for many years to great acclaim. Amongst his many industry supporters, he has become a firm favourite of the legendary Carl Cox, who has released music from him and been extremely vocal in his praise, calling him “One of the UK’s freshest & most exciting acts”.
Saytek has also released on labels like Superfreq and KMS Records and is in fine form once again here. His offering is a pumping peak time techno track with vast kick drums, icy hi-hats and the sort of live and lithe synths that define this artist's sound. The whole track sweeps you off your feet, taking you on a true techno trip and showing why DJs like Derrick May, Sasha, Maceo Plex and Dubfire find his music so essential.
Then comes a 4/4 mix of Ball's 'Sheep Funk', which is a jittery groove with smeared synth landscapes in the background bringing the soul. The fantastically forward facing original is a high speed slice of slick tech-funk. The electro styled percussion and rubbery bass all bring real energy and vitality to the club. Ball then offers a remix of his own under his Robin Beats moniker, a pseudonym he uses for his abstract techno and breakbeat adventures, here he pairs things back and ups the sci-fi stylings with deft sound designs all colouring the restless and elastic techno synths and crisp hits.
This is another innovative offering from the always on point
Memory Box.

Standards & Practices returns after an extended hiatus with its first release for 2020 and the label's first-ever compilation. Showcasing six exclusive tracks from a variety of musically like-minded allies both new and established, "Out Of Practice Vol. 1" finds some of the most talented artists currently working in electronic music refining their sound and pushing their craft in exciting new directions.
Stave and Grebenstein's "Rack 4", their first collaboration since 2018's acclaimed "Live From Frankfurter Strasse", kicks off the proceedings with a view into a bleak, dystopian sonic landscape, while Italian producer VSK, known for his excellent EPs on Mord and 47 (among others) delivers "Pendulum", one of his best tracks to date - a visceral, unrelenting, broken-beat behemoth. Closing side A is Chicago native Todd Mattei 's contribution, "Lake Charles", a beautifully textured Frippian soundscape.
Kristian Jabs, better known to most as Pessimist, opens side B with "Rut", a sleek, stripped-down, techno track that positively drips with moody atmospherics and tension. Overlook and Karim Maas's contribution, the dense and claustrophobic "Chalk", is an ultra-heavy breaks track with hoovers and enough sub-bass to shatter blocks of granite. "7th Recording 29", an ambient piece which represents Jonathan Krohn's first recorded collaboration with long-time friend and associate Benjamin Mjolsness since their work together in the group Male - closes the compilation.

The first release on Optimo Music founder JD Twitch’s new compilation-focused label Cease & Desist will be a collection of pioneering turn-of-the-90s British “Bleep & Bass” techno tracks curated by author and music journalist Matt Anniss.
Join The Future: UK Bleep & Bass 1988-91 is a partner product to Anniss’s critically acclaimed book on the foundations of British dance music’s ongoing love affair with sub-bass, Join The Future: Bleep Techno and the Birth of British Bass Music. The book, which was published by Velocity Press in December and features a foreword by JD Twitch, documents in vivid detail the previously untold story of the Yorkshire-pioneered style and the impact it had on the development of UK dance music.
The compilation is the first to focus on Bleep & Bass since the sound’s heyday in the late 1980s and early ’90s. It features a mix of historic cuts, period classics, overlooked gems and unreleased material. It was mastered for release by Warp Records co-founder and Forgemasters member Rob Gordon, a producer, remixer and studio engineer who arguably did more than anyone else to define the sub-heavy sound of the style.
Gordon also contributed a previously unheard version of Alfanso’s “Dub Feels Nice”, a near mythical track he produced in 1991 that has never received a proper commercial release. The cut has been a secret weapon for a handful of Sheffield DJs for almost 30 years, most notably Gordon’s fellow Forgemasters member Winston Hazel. Fittingly, the compilation also includes the original unreleased instrumental version of Tuff Little Unit’s Steel City classic “Join The Future”.
Many of the other tracks on the compilation are rare, hard to find or have not been issued on vinyl or digital since their initial release. It opens with Unique 3 and the Mad Musician’s “Only The Beginning” – the 1988 A-side of the first ever Bleep record – and also includes tracks and remixes from fellow scene pioneers Ital Rockers (an early alias of dub hero Iration Steppas), Nightmares on Wax, Cabaret Voltaire and DJ Martin and DJ Homes, the previously unheralded Chapeltown duo behind the influential Leeds-based studio and record label BASSIC.
Elsewhere on the compilation you’ll find Birmingham producer Demonik’s sought-after debut single “Layrinthe”, a hard-to-find cut from Bedford-based men of mystery Original Clique, two classic cuts from the vaults of influential Midlands label Network Records and a glassy-eyed slab of Bleep/deep house fusion from 100 Hz.
Join The Future: UK Bleep & Bass 1988-91 will be released on double vinyl and digital download. The 10-track vinyl version features an insert with extensive liner notes by Matt Anniss. It also comes with a code to download the 12-track digital download version. The compilation will be released by Cease & Desist on March 25th 2020.

First release of 2020 for Auxiliary comes in the form of a six-track EP of slower grooves by ASC. The emphasis is purely on analog synth sequences and drum machines. Cryogenic opens proceedings, with a heavy kick drum, backed with a weighty bass for maximum effect. Monomachine arpeggios are the order of the day here and are used to devastating effect. Following on is the laid back synth swells of Erosion Of Time, which leads into the more pronounced hits of Anthe, which tops off side A with a heavier crescendo. Meridian starts off the flip side in melancholic fashion, with it's half-time beats and pads that pluck at the heart strings. The final two excursions up the sci-fi notch a little, while ASC demonstrates his prowess with film score-like textures and sound design.

The next chapter for Haŵs actualises itself in the form of Dawl’s ‘Break It Down’ EP, a warehouse-ready, bouncy and charismatic record channelling insatiable vigour from beginning to end.
‘Break It Down’ on the A-side is a relentless jackhammer of a track, pumped full of rich breaks and clipped acid lines. ‘Subject 91’ flattens the gas pedal even further, with a gated, spectral synth levitating hazily above the militant drums that heave the whole track forward.
On the B-side, the brawny ‘Proton’ returns to the acidic burn of the opening track, except this one is occupied by chirping synths and oscillations of noise that seem to rise and fall with a trippy authority. Finally, high-flyer and man of the moment Kosh employs his natural gift of the gab on the closing remix of ‘Break It Down’ with a raucous rhythm and a regurgitated bassline that never dwindles on its own gusto.
Despite the substantial weight and pugnacity of this 4-tracker, the staple Haŵs euphoria twinkles through. There’s no shortage in complex drum sequencing, breaks samples and all the other frills, yet the final output is compact and neat. As Haŵs increases it's vision more extensively to dance music from across the board, it seems that the best things might at times come as contradictions, and this record’s tone certainly fits the bill.

Pugilist steps up on Trule with a four track EP of sound system club heaters across various styles and BPMs. From the broken UK garage of the title track, the crunching breaks of Untitled with ILK, the dub wise Junglism of Adversity with Tamen, and the techno dancehall variation of Portal. Rocko Garoni knows what a techno dance floor wants. He’s learned it through countless hours spent on the floor himself as a punter, and through DJing at some of the best clubs and festivals in his hometown Berlin and all over the world. He knows exactly the type of productions that thrill crowds, and he brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to his third EP for Second State, Ammoniak.
The title and first track ‘Ammoniak’ drags you straight into the zone; a pounding, take no prisoners cut laced with stormy synths creating a vague sense of paranoia. ‘Gece‘ cranks the energy up with trancey, bouncing synths and a cool, clipped female vocal. Instantly, you’re pulled into the very sort of club that Garoni knows so well. ‘No Border‘ is the kind of expansive track that seems destined for huge warehouses or vast festival dancefloors. There’s an insistent, brooding bassline, robotic repeated vocals and a mid-track shift in tone that will send the crowd to a heightened state of reverie. The blend of post-punk vocals and eerie beats on ‘It’s All Yours‘, a track featuring Cook Strummer on the vocals, is at once highly unusual and completely compelling. It’s the track to play when the crowd are losing themselves in the best possible way. Closing the EP is ‘Helio‘, another completely different track that showcases the extent of Garoni’s range. Faint, echoed chanting lends the track an almost holy atmosphere. Combined with tunnelling synths and spindly percussion FX, the effect is euphoric, acting as a delicious palate cleanser between heavier tracks.
Put simply, Ammoniak is another first-class EP from a dynamic act who’s fast becoming a Second State star.

It's been 3 years since the last Basic Soul Unit EP on Lab.our and the label co-head is back to top form! Loose, melodic and funky, the Toronto producer stretches his legs across 4 tracks in this kaleidoscopic gem of an EP.
On A1 is 'Behavoural Issue', a frenetic, crunchy and off-kilter number that will have you contorted in distortion with all arms and legs on the dancefloor.
'Rising Over The East' marches in next, a deep jacking head trip to the Orient opium den with its endless arpeggiators. On the B-side, the heavy broken club banger 'Propulses' harkens back to the glory rave days without mimicry. A Basic Soul Unit interpretation with his undeniable footprint in the mix.
'My Heart Skips' turns the dial down several notches into deeper house terrain. The soulful ride begins as an easy cruise before deftly lurching into an odd rhythmic fractal workout that the producer has become known for.
Sealing an untouchable reputation in the world of broken soulful lo-fi techno, Basic Soul Unit casts an even wider net to captivate audiences with this must-have EP.
Chino from Krakow is one of Poland's most distinctive players when it comes to providing a good amount of darkness into your nightlife experiences. With the Radar crew he's hosting some of the wildest nights of Underground Dance music in Poland. When producing he has a knack for ice cold rhythms and sharp synth lines. His ever-changing, gear-heavy live sets have earned him a reputation as a tour de force in electronic beat music. After EPs for S1 Warsaw, Recognition or Holger he has finally delivered an impressive five-tracker for shtum out of Dresden, a city he maintains a well-established connection to. From the hard hitting rhythms of "Kolaps" to the gloomy sound excursions of "Plattenbau", you'll feel in every note that this music comes straight from the heart. These are tracks that are interwoven by everything that surrounds Chino, whether it's friends, drum machines or FM synths, architecture or just the mighty Tatra mountains. Dance the pain away.

For their 9th offering, ae Recordings have a various artists release. What all these artists have in common is that they have undoubtedly been leading figures within the local scene for the last 25 years.
A-side features a long lost remix which Thor made for GusGus back in 2002. There has been loud demand for this one to appear on vinyl, so the waiting is now no more. Its a balearic, tasteful and will certainly be a regular in the DJ bags this season. The B-side starts with a minimalistic and dubby anthem from Thor. A solid composition as expected from the label honcho himself. A timeless dub techno remix from Sanasol of the Icelandic electronica wizard Biogen completes this 12" - a track that first saw release back in 1997.
ae Recordings, the infamous sublabel of Thule Records, has been a hub for techno talents in Iceland since 1999. The label was, and still is, known for bringing in fresh winds into the scene and this release doesn't stray away from the concept at all; although this time we're offering a delicious slice from the older times.

After publishing in labels like Semantica, Hara, Stale or Jealous God, Irazu exposes his vulnerable flank in Hooded Records in a record with great healing power for the nightlife-damaged minds. The precious melodies and soothing titles Lavender Mist, Just Breathe, and the homonym Last Rays, manage to tame the Shimmering Substance(s) and to overflow the broken ravers souls with pure, uncut love, while freeing them from the fears and anxieties usually attached to the comedown of an over-extended, masochistic, polydrug fueled sesh. We could say that the work is seeded in a Burialesque music for after the rave kind of feeling, but its root rather emerges from Berlin’s spacious techno soil and the purest, uncut human emotions. The vinyl comes in a classic 4 tracker EP format and the digital adds on Bandcamp two ambient pieces making the whole thing a sort of lifejacket Mini-album for the sinners.

Three solid tracks from Stockholm-based Matilda, a space zoo of techno with plenty of nerve and tension, layering drones and field recordings over ever evolving drum patterns. This is the duo's first full EP together, but they are far from rookies. Vicky Zissou has been making waves for years both as a producer and as one of Stockholm's most interesting DJs, and Hampus Bogren aka Skóll already has a couple of highly acclaimed releases to his name.

Mule Driver presents: Rainshadow
Imagine yourself on a deserted bank of the dead sea, a day after the end of days, taking part in the RainShadow tribe’s ceremony, chanting and thanking the spirits.
On this new EP, Mule driver delivers four post apocalyptic tribal tracks with a dystopian feel, fusing obscure techno with dark spiritual rhythms, driven with crushing beats with a hint of disco.
Tel Aviv based Mule Driver / Harel Schreiber has been highly active in the underground techno / electronic scene of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv for almost 2 decades with releases on his Los Jubilee & Confused Machines imprints, Parallax records and many more.
His full analog live shows are constantly evolving and are not to be missed.
Rainshadow is Mule driver’s ultimate treat to date and it was worth waiting for.
Riku Sugimoto,as know as a member of ATM which plays live set with electronic devices based on Tokyo, starts his own label named ‘chatty chatty mutant ‘. His first release includes four original tracks influenced by early Detroit techno,Chicago house,90’s UK house and a lot of music.

For the first twenty minutes of the album, Laporte unleashes the monster he dreamt about, a golem made out of rusty bike chains and broken glass, providing some tracks for nightmarish dance floors with the dirty electro tunes. Dispositions and Sound 23 and the degenerate footworkish track, Ossature. You have to wait for the last two tracks of the record to finally find some semblance of serenity: Vitre, a synthetic ballad, and Tunnel, Stéphane Laporte's stirring hymn for a generation of desperate ex-ravers.

Trip 006 is an album constructed with the songs of a varied collection of artists, fast and furious rhythms at times exceeding 140 bpm, live cuts, tracks with a song structure. The idea behind the album was born the other night from a very broad conversation I (Nina) and Tombo had on the way people form their opinions and criticisms. That opinions are reflecting the inner world of the people who criticise and an opinion should be based on something what it depends on and how this process has to do with growth, knowledge, self assurance and self improvement. That all things are relative and all eyes are different. That in the end it's important to grow and shape your opinion, make up your own mind. This was the point of inspiration for Tombo - his artwork representing two worlds and two young boys who are affected by the 'outside', controlled and manipulated. One manages to escape by shaping his own desires, growth being a matter of choice. Learning that what enables one to see and understand more, is the freedom from anyone's opinion but your own.
Trip 006 continues the tradition of gatefold double EPs as conceptual album. All tracks are selected around a particular story, a trip, and presented as a continuous sonic landscape. All tracks are structured in a way that they can be mixed one with another an endless amount of times making a continuous loop, a trip, that needs only end when the party stops. Kraviz works without release dates or deadlines, enabling her to achieve a certain sound bank to shape the story, unmasking the thoughts and unravelling like a dream.
A1 Bjarki - Bæpolar
The recent bass heavy work of prolific Icelandic artist is an interesting hybrid of IDM and drum-n-bass with Bjarki's
incredible ability to create signature atmosphere on the edge of minor and major keys, and place them around
weightless perfectly incorporated sounds. As always, recorded in just one take this work reflects duality. Good and
bad, simple and difficult. A problem of choice, personal bias that is also known as bipolar syndrome. Recorded in
February in Iceland, exactly at the time the story for this album was evolving.
A2 Nina Kraviz - Don't Mind Wrong Keys
This is a 5 minute cut of a live recording that I made in February using a simple set up of Volca drum machine, Yamaha
piano and a reverb. I am not musically trained but like to fool around with keys recording whatever comes out of it. I
love edgy keys that are about to jump off piste but change their mind last second keeping the nerve naked' The
wonky keys capture Nina's mood in February perfectly. Barely edited it perfectly represents the label's antiperfectionist
approach with the biggest value in music human feelings.
B1 AFX - P-string
The alias of Aphex Twin aka Richard D. James, this track was recorded when he was only 19 or 20, around 93-94. It first appeared on Aphex Twin's second session for John Peel in 1995 as 'Untitled'. The strong and extremely emotional work combines signature robust rhythm juxtaposed with the dreamy melodics.
C1 Bjarki - Naked Naked
A furious, emotional quick recording that captured the artist at a challenging moment. Struggling with adversity, Bjarki channelled all his anger in this furious quickly made melancholic, yet optimistic beat with the female vocal urging naked naked'..
C2 Barcode Population - Temple Ball
One more previously unreleased ruff live cut from probably one of the most mysterious electronic project from the 90s affiliated Subvert label. So far Trip released 3 excellent cuts to Trip 002 and Trip 004. This new one seemed like a perfect fit for the new story.
D1 Biogen - Untitled
Sigurbjörn Þorgrímsson was an electronic musician best known under the pseudonym Biogen. A pivotal figure in Iceland's electronic music scene, whether it was during his early forays into electronic music as a member of the legendary hardcore techno band Ajax or through the many collaborations and side projects he was involved with, Biogen had a personal hand in shaping the last two decades of Icelandic music. Untitled' is a previously unreleased work, probably from late 90s period, the records of which are mostly missing (perhaps deleted by the artist himself). Biogen was suffering from Bipolar syndrome that resulted in him taking his own life in 2011. Like most of the tracks on Trip 006 album the track is a unedited live cut, that starts and suddenly ends, just like that..
I was blessed to have found it on one of my visits to Iceland and to it really feel like it was just sent to me. Bjarki, Exos and I went to take some pictures outside of Reykjavik before our South American tour. It was freezing cold with an eerie vibe, like nature was talking to us, blowing a strong wind relentlessly moving our weightless bodies from one side to another. It was very inspiring and I was constantly thinking on the next album and the missing track. Heading back by car, we encountered wild horses by the road who blocked the way and posed for my camera. Astonished by the encounter, with a memory card full of crazy images and completely frozen we rushed back to the car. Exos was driving and asked me to find something in his large cd bag to listen to on the journey. Plucking a random cd somewhere in the middle of the bag, the first track was this amazing minimalist cut that fitted everything like a perfect soundtrack. I asked what was it and Exos told that this was an unreleased Biogen. The missing track.'
D2 PTU - Taorak
PTU are a Russian duo from the city of Kazan- Kamil EA and Alina Izolenta. PTU's music is a blend of related genres, an abstract joint where bass music meets techno with this mixture being spiced up with break beats, acid lines, pads, futuristic concepts and sounds. Abbreviation PTU means "Professional Technical School' -a term born in the former Soviet Union, where the musicians grew up in the 90's. PTU was a kind of alternative for young working class people unable to attend a university. PTUs are - technically - educational facilities providing general education of the third degree. It is a Soviet social phenomenon, a clichéd concept and a cultural ghetto, but also a kind of a refuge for people when there's nothing to do and you feel free before doing the military service or getting married - ideas and values imposed by the state machine. The structure of the track and name Taorak' is inspired by a character from Greek Mythology-uroboros- an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating it/s own tail. PTU wanted to find a snake name and they came out with the fantasy Taorak. Surprising is the way PTU work meticulously with Space in between sounds in a way that silence is making itself a vivid element of the song and creating an unfinished dramaturgy.

Detailed, smart, commanding, groovy. These are just a few words to describe the Assorted Pieces 2 compilation. This strictly in-house production by Friendship & Decadence contains tracks from such producers as Kade, Mirage Man, Poly Sone and Waltteri. Which is a intriguing mixture indeed.
Poly Sone’s “Home killing is taping music” is a rugged and fast paced take on nordic techno. As the track was recorded on a four track cassette recorder the saturation on this cut is immense, yet pleasant. Definitely not your everyday cheapo lo-fi tune.
Deep, quirky and playful bottom heavy roller, “Calm” by Waltteri has a hint of spanish roast in its blend. Waltteri’s debut on the imprint can be perfectly paired with a fun loving crowd during midnight or even around early mornings. Psychedelic multipurpose tool.
Kade’s raw and unconventional track “Sanko” is a treat for the adventurous mind. Haunting arpeggios and vocal chops will give you the creeps, while the unrefined saturated rhythms will sooth you into a trance. Eccentric and hypnotic dance music.
“This track never starts” by Mirage Man lives by its name as it is a slowly unraveling and cinematic number. Regardless of its thick lower end, in the club environment this track might send the restless to acquire a beverage from the bar, but for the grounded minds who enjoy ambient this just might be the ticket. Play it yourself and see what happens.

The first track is a mesmerizing progressive house tune with a future retro hi nrg bass line and a hypnotic dreamy arpeggio worth of the early 90’s italo techno & house heritage, in the style of artists like Mystic Force, still with a contemporary attitude both in the house groove and in the sound choice, truly uplifting! “Trail Of Bones” is a badass ravey jam with a crazy and prominent fat bass line going all along the track, inspired by some old school acid trance aesthetics with a funkier feeling
On the flip side “Nove Code di Cristallo Grigio” sounds like an intergalactic trip to some other techno galaxies lead by uncoordinated synthetic structures. “Gattonero” closes the ep with its quirky mood, essential and with a bouncy groove that makes it a super efficient tool for the floor.

Respected techno figurehead DJ Spider drops 'Democide' - his first album on a label other than his own - via illustrious New Jersey-based event series and art collective Green Village.
Also from New Jersey, DJ Spider has long been one of the most respected figures based out of the East Coast's electronic music scene. Co-founder of Plan B Recordings, Sublevel Sounds and founder of BTU Music, Spider has released four albums and over 40 EPs. He has fomented a distinct techno sound, one where sludgy synths and a sense of urban dystopia make for unsettling atmospheres; with elements of industrial, ambient and a masterful way of drawing tension and darkness out of his synths, he has one of the most unique sounds in techno. This new album proves that once more across twelve spellbinding
tracks.

If Galaxy Lane’s first EP didn’t send the portals of time and space upside down, then the second EP will throw you down a vortex of hypnotic grooves juxtaposed with eerily erratic rhythms built in outer space.
The first of two EP’s to be trusted in the hands of Lone Romantic, ‘Night’ and ‘Later That Night’ will explore the concept of capturing moments in time.
Maybe Galaxy Lane can best summarise…
“I want people to really feel the mistakes in this music, the dirt, the rough and raw approach, the ‘sitting on the floor surrounded by wires at 3am messing with synths’ approach. That to me is the magic of this music, the interaction of man and machine, to hear the nuances, the tweaking of knobs and pushes of faders. I think we have lost that somewhat with digital technology, and have lost a lot of feeling in the process”
‘Night’ will propel the listener into ethereal textures layered over rough and raw beats, as outlined on opening track ‘Deep Space Nine’. If that sets you up for thinking this will be a dreamy ride, ‘Communication’ hits hard at the rear of the spaceship, coming at you with intergalactic bleeps, zaps and back cracking rhythms made for getting down.
Side 2 sets off on an exploration of wild eyed boundary flexing in the shape of ‘Enter The Light’. Pushing the machines to near breaking point whilst just hanging on, it’s a track that shows what can be done when the spaceship is left to drive itself, you can do nothing more than go with it and and see what happens.
‘Snow Day’ is perhaps the perfect way to round us back in. A more calmer, smoother ride, it’s unmistakable polyrhythms soothing the soul and setting us up for the next chapter…
Repressed !
The Argentinian team brings the power of their knowledge back to our imprint with this split EP, a six track musical journey from drones to heavy kicks, with a bunch of intelligent techno in the middle.
The release starts with Jonas Kopp's "Grey Area", a floating intro exploring the deepest frequencies in the sound spectrum. Next comes "Intelligent seeker", with grooved synth toms, sharp hats and a naive oscillating sequence that runs free in the arrangement. Profound and aggressive at the same time.
The following number is "Akut": dry kick, reverberated and panned continuous sequences, spiced with classic 909 workout.
Pfirter provides his intro with "Another Dimension", a dreamy ambient piece to warm up for what comes next: "Euritmia". Based on distorted kicks and sequences, "Euritmia" creates an obsessive rhythm that grows alongside the white noise washes during the whole track.
Closing the release is "Rising", which starts with a cleaner beat approach, and once again works with white noises and modular lines to create tension and expectation. Micro percussions run along the groove, nicely adding spice to the hypnosis.
L/F/D/M is from London and studied art with Dom from Factory Floor, who encouraged him to work on music production. But his musical influences range from jazz, exotica, afrobeat, disco, post punk - you name it.
'I guess all the music you soak up just filters through one way or another. Music production is often about exploiting chance and about decisions made in that moment. I'm always trying to reach that magic point where you can remove yourself from what you're making, and the music starts to trigger an emotion rather than just being blocks of colour on a computer.' - L/F/D/M
* Straying away from the standardized charts of dance music, Metalized Man's debut album for newly established label Foul-Up operates in the gap between strictly visually-evocative audio spaces and more abstract realms, trimming its tech-y ambient apparatus right to the bone.
* After two iterations on the Copenhagen-based Infinite Waves, Lasse Bjørck Volkmann delivers a first long-player rich of a spectrum that extends from the murkiest shades to the brightest hues with a zest of trancey tropes, exploring both extremes with a manifest attraction for offhand live dynamics. Whereas it deploys its own sensory experience, 'Losing Your Virginity: Metalized Boy's First Adventures in Manhood' reacts and evolves like a steady biotope submitted to diverse levels of pressure, constantly shifting scales and tempo - from a deep green palette of organic drops and crackles to the sleek vibrancy of multi-faceted synthetic layers - punctured by paranoid ostinatos that ooze nothing but stress and insecurity. As its title suggests it is an initiatory hand-to-hand with the unknown - either a beginning or an ending, but anyhow a fully conscious descent in the most secret nooks of a troubled inner being in search for answers.
* Just like Edward Artemiev's elemental soundtrack to Tarkovsky's masterpiece 'Stalker' played an essential role in enhancing the film's highly empirical experience, or Badalamenti's iconic contribution to David Lynch's utterly hypnotic, trance-inducing body of work, 'Losing Your Virginity...' shines with a similar poise for setting up its own deeply evocative cinematic playgrounds. Images rise to the surface in a deftly-manoeuvered chaos of sound, elusive like sand gliding from one's hand but haunting like a first time. There is frailty and strength, despair and also ecstasy but more importantly, there is a bigger-than- life quality to this fine collection of mazy proto-tech and drone slabs, that seems to not only emulate concepts for what they are but also what they go against. Proposing rather than proclaiming, questioning rather than answering - moving feverishly as we all do, unsure of what tomorrow holds but well avid to disclose its omens.

"made of CONCRETE" founders Andreas Pionty & fumée grise celebrate the label's second anniversary with a special release, that aligns their soundscape to palpable, material coordinates in a near- synesthetic output. Joining forces as Rebar, a moniker nodding to the label's name itself, their debut EP consists of two original tracks and two remixes centered around geo-relevant, field recorded elements.
Named after a district in Dresdener Andreas Pionty's hometown, opening track "Prohlis" is a straightforward exploration of industrial elements with an impersonal, functional atmosphere. "Kaputt" labelhead Coeter jumps in on the rework, adding more groove to the track through rhythmic distortion.
Breaking off from the homogenous structure of the first side, "Hansaviertel" unfolds as a more traditional composition. Using live recordings from the eponymous district in Berliner fumée grise's home base, an area well known for its modern architecture, the track evokes the same minimalist and cavernous ambiance as the area itself. Known for his upright techno antics, "Credo" main man Alex Bau puts forth an atypical dub tech remix. Retaining the initial groove and spacious attire, we're enveloped in a more laidback, minimalist interpretation of the original.

HRDvsion – Stroke implies different things. Different strokes for different folks. Not to spoil, but there is a Luke vs. Darth dynamic here. So let’s just keep it at that. Bring it on Death Star!
Joannes – Ow_kay, Joannes got that Wagwan thang going on. Rolling thunder under the hood, sprinkled with some breaks and reverbed. Yeah, it’s that hands in the air moment. Package includes a big phat breakdown.
Orson Wells – If War of the Worlds had a contemporaneous soundtrack, this would be on it. Electro-breaks, tunnel vision, planets colliding. Do not fear us, we come in peace.
Rydim (Part of ItaloJohnson Trio) – This got that nasty boompty. Think of Derrick Carter remixing Gemini remixing Derrick May. Can I have a bump, to straighten things out? Mit ein kleines bisschen acid?
The second vinyl release on Manjumasi comes from intriguing Swedish producer Karl David Ola Sabel, aka Birds ov Paradise. A master of darkly shining brilliance, his work is at once deep and murky, yet textured and detailed.
The A-side, Köpp, is an insistent and slowly building journey. Shimmering metallic synth tones float over a staccato bassline that develops powerful energy throughout the track’s crescendo.
On the B side are two very complementary selections. Bosse kicks off with a hard-hitting broken-beat groove that is punctuated by potent bass hits. Up top, space is created by a wafting layer of haunting and ethereal atmospherics. Next up is Gubben, with some of the darkest sounds on the EP set amidst an energy that manages to simultaneously feel both sinister and playful. Reversed bass tones and punchy percussion set the mood, making way for the track’s incredible and eerie vocal elements.

When Max Ravitz created a few tracks under his new alias Pizzaboy, they were never meant to be released. One friend passed them on to another, until the tracks were in the hands of Mike Servito — quickly becoming regulars in his rotation. As the name aptly suggests, Deep Dish is a body-ode to Ravitz’s upbringing in Chicago. Known for his varied production aliases and prolific releases as Patricia, Ravitz finds a vehicle for some of his earliest midwestern influences in this debut release for The Bunker NY.
An avid listener of booty house in his youth, Ravitz gravitated towards the genre’s quintessential jacking energy, but couldn’t relate as much to its lyrics. He says, “I’ve always loved it, but didn’t totally connect with some of the messaging, so the first song I made was me trying to flip the archetype and make consentfocused lyrics.” Deep Dish is an expression of Ravitz’ love for the genre, though he refashions and recontextualizes some of its central characteristics. For example, lyrics from “No Affection,” subvert the standard, sexualized vocal tropes; instead we get “Face up, ass down / Let me pull out your chair / I’m a different kind of man you see / I’m more self-aware.” Deep Dish is booty house for 2020, envisioned through a different, perhaps more sensitive lens. Despite Pizzaboy’s alternate take on booty house, these four supreme cuts are still built for peak-time floors. Baked with just enough acid and heat, Deep Dish is primed to be a dance floor classic, feeding both body and soul.

Rory St John returns to Voitax with "Excommunication", a hyper-deep, futurist take on classic dub techno. Skillfully assembled, each of the four tracks hypnotically morph and evolve, forgoing the cheap tropes of today's 'rise and drop' techno for a more immersive listen - one gets the feeling that each and every sound is wielded with precision, and exists exactly where and for as long as it should. Reacting to the increasingly harder-edge sound that proliferates today's techno, Rory St John strove to push his sound in the opposite direction. The result is sombre and introspective - a slick, reverberating antidote to mainstream anthems. This release is markedly different to the abrasive stylings of his previous "Run Your Mouth" EP and reveals yet another side to the producer's sonic palette.

This is the 12th release on RIOT Radio Records, an independent techno label based in Scotland.
Dez Williams expresses himself through his machines. He's very much unconstrained and has no urge to conform within any ideal or aesthetic, and thus his electronic music is pure self-expression. His tracks can range from driving techno, to melancholic and dark synthesizer orchestrations, ghostly deep listening, straight up electro cuts and beyond. Sometimes simple, sometimes complex, within his sounds are vast amounts of detail for the listener to decipher. Emotions transmitted through mathematics and code.
This 12" has three original tracks and two remixes by Binny and Shredder respectively. The first track definitely sets the pace for what's to come on the rest of the release. Step by step, beat by beat, the music will lead you along the path to 'Retribution'.

Hot Creations is home to some of the industry's most valuable players. Next year, Darius Syrossian will make a welcome return to the label with his heavy hitting two-parter, Moxy, following on from 2013's Who's The Douche EP.
Kicking off proceedings is Moxy. Six minutes of pure, raw, industrial bass littered with a smattering of high-hats and a break down that will leave you begging for more. The flip side serves up more peak-time goodness with Hi, It's Me. A driving, throbbing bassline thumps over wobbling synths with a female vocal stating that she does not do VIP clubs or bottle service bullshit!
Darius Syrossian has made quite the mark on the industry. He began releasing music in 2009 and his proceeding career has seen him release a slew of dancefloor hits on labels such as VIVa Music, 20/20 Vision and Get Physical Music, as well as collaborations with Steve Lawler, Josh Butler and Sidney Charles. He's also held down residencies at some of the world's most influential clubs and has become an essential part of the Ibizan summer seasons.

Shed Remix – This one is made for cardiovascular shit. Best used in dark basements, group gatherings, fire-dances (think Rothschild Surrealist shindigs), but can do wonders for your lower back and thighs, if surrounded with thugs and nasty guys. Reformed Society Remix – This goes down the threaded path of classic Motor-city tech. That famed conveyer belt gave us the best combination of man and machine. And here it works quite well, might we add. Cruise-control on.
Almost one year after the acclaimed first release, vinyl only label Kvalia Records is back with its second edition. This time with an uncompromising, three track EP dedicated to the foundation that make up the label; deep and hypnotic techno. Contributing to the release is UK duo Abstract Man with two original tracks and Icelandic producer Exos with a rare acid remix. Second vinyl release of ukranian Subself records is called Reward and made by Brendon Moeller, dub techno warrior worldwide known as Echologist. One track and three remixes from Juho Kahilainen, Shaded Explorer and label's main submarine Animous. Dubby murky soundcapes with more or less straight kick and 1/16 swingy mutant percussion are designed for helping fog machines doing their job. One can say Basic Channel did that 300 years ago but this song is really not gonna end, why would it if it tastes so good

Ersatz Olfolks signs new Singular, cat number 10 with Strobes & Smoke ep.
Singular Records comes back this February with mysterious French producer Ersatz Olfolks.
2017 is going to be a busy year for Singular Rec and it starts with a full analogue trip. Tough at first with the driving Srobes & Smoke' till the deepness of Alkaest'. Ersatz Olfolks makes no compromise and deliver a superb combination of force and depth throughout these four cuts from live sessions. The all thing got a 90's sound treatment by master Scan X.
Enjoy!
Marcelus.
An outstanding artist since his earliest productions, Pablo Mateo now fully joins the ranks of Figure for his first album. On this versatile LP finally expands his complete creative vision of what techno music truly means to him.
Weird Reflections Beyond The Sky is an album that is accessible to all audiences. When engaged with actively, it holds narratives deeply connected to personal experience, going beyond what words or even images can describe. Confronting the listener with their own complexity and emotions is both its feat and feature. A beautiful use of technology and synthetic sounds as a means to journey far within.
An open invitation to drop all expectations and simply let the mind wander, creating an immersive soundtrack for each individual to explore.
OMEN Recordings is off running to the industrial techno races againand this third release has already been gaining traction around the globe with high anticipation and support from many respected producers and DJs alike. The Puppetskin EP written and produced by German and French artists RENDERED with remixes by American producers BLACK ASTEROID and AXKAN is off to a great start. RENDERED starts off strong with the title track Puppetskin" (A1), with strong breakbeat kicks, thrashing snares and rich synth lines that are melodic and spacey. The dancefloor will surely love the Charles Manson samples. Nightmoves' (A2) also heads the pack with shuffling kicks while rich, minor-tuned pads take you on a persistent journey. About half way through, you will be moved by a 4/4 pattern that sneaks in and will be a favorite for the dancers. BLACK ASTEROID's remix of Puppetskin' (B2) does not disappoint as signature Black Asteroid textures and rhythms come alive in this rendition. Although it has rounded, full soundscapes that sound perfect for a large venue, its pumping, hypnotizing bass lines and screeching sirens keep you pulled into the darkness. AXKAN stays in the pack with his earthshattering remix of Puppetskin' (B1) by starting slow with a profound intro to then push the audio boundaries with his powerful kick and bassline, to gain more and more strength with vocal samples, distorted drums and FX. AXKAN uses every stem of the original in such a creative way to help win the race. This EP, soon to be available on vinyl and digital formats, exceeds the expectations of sound design and techno together. No matter what time of night it is, these tracks can be played in a versatile way. While still employing darker textures, a breath of light creeps its way in. Listening to this EP start to finish is definitely worthwhile.
Roman Poncet back on full form, delivering his next EP for Figure. These four tracks are testament to his mastery of many styles while working as nuanced and meticulous as ever. Each track inhabits a singular drive or momentum, outgrowing the confines of pure techno tools.
Take opener He Comes For You, a muscular example of a dynamic and spacious building block, keeping the energy leveled and ready to move wherever it may be needed. Coming in a close second, Taal nods towards housy structures, clocking in a fast and playful attitude within a strict techno‘s framework.
Sofra is harnessing the anthemic power of trance-style synths while not overplaying the old school card in favor of letting Poncet‘s slick sound design do its work. Finally, dubbed-out beauty Focal ushers this record out smoothly, its echoing chords glistening effortlessly atop a powerful low-end bassline.

The fouth and final limited edition Delicacies 12" this year is, in an slightly counter-intuitive twist, not taken from the forthcoming SMD album, "Welcome To Sideways". It didn't quite fit in with the flow of the track selection on the album, but we felt it really warranted it's own separate release particularly because of the ace Matrixxman remix. Both versions are driving, minimal techno, scattered through with melodic bursts but Matrixxman's LSD rework pushes the BPMs and frenetic energy to new levels.

TAMBURI NERI’s WORKS 2 is the first LDDLM release of the new decade. Following their acclaimed EP on Optimo, Claudio Brioschi (aka Brioski) and Andrea Barbiera further their exploration in stripping down their psychedelia. There is a long tradition of slo-mo tribalism in Italian dance music, cosmic or not. But Tamburi Neri dissolve the tribal decorum, focusing on the beat-as-heartbeat, and on Italian language as incantation.
INDIO, the faster paced track, has been a staple in our DJ sets, pure raw energy for when things get settled in darkness. RELIGION REBEL is an exercise in menacing trance-funk, whereas IL VORTICE puts the vocal forward, a track and a story.
We have been a fan of Marco Passarani for more than two decades, a man constantly reinventing himself and rewriting the history of Italian electronics. He here remixes RELIGION REBEL in some kind of power-balearic anthem, a record for, yes, ecstasy and sunsets.

Tripeo raises a voice for change on his new album “Green Is the New Red“ (BASLP03). “The great thing about (electronic) music is that it’s the most universal art form there is“, says the Dutch producer. “It transcends lingual and cultural barriers more than any other cultural expression and can be a catalyst for change.“
The sound of the coming revolution is manifold: Starting off with A1 “Hope in the Dark“, a soft melody unfolds. B2 “Shifting the Overtone Window“ stands out as the most bass-heavy track, with techno as its musical blueprint. Further into the album, C3 “Fridays For Future“, the artist openly states his sympathy with the global youth movement. His vision for the protest is lo-fi in sound and courageous in mood.
Never angry, this album creates urgency without uttering a word.

You may remember the closing of Space, Ibiza with Carl Cox when he played a bootleg of Total Confusion.
Barry Obzee Hobbs (Rising High A&R) spent a lot of time trying to locate the Remixer and finally did a few months ago. We have now signed the remix which will be released on vinyl in May and on digital in July. The story goes like this: Carl Cox has been playing the version at most of his shows including Tomorrow Land, Kappa Future Fest and Timewarp ( see video clip below) but this is where the story becomes more interesting. The Remixer, ROD Malmok from Rotterdam aka Benny Rodriguez, who is a very established DJ Producer playing for Loco Dice in Ibiza etc and releasing on Ben Klock's imprint Klockwork, Chris Liebing's imprint CLR, Adam Beyer's imprint Drumcode and many more was inspired to remix the track through a conversation with Dubfire, Rod gave him a rough copy the following day. He played it to Carl Cox at Space, Ibiza and Cox begged him for a copy - see video below
If you've been around the scene for a while you will know that Rising High Records was one of the first labels to shape Techno, Hardcore and Breakbeat in the UK and was huge!
Celebrating three decades of KMS-flavored Techno, 'KMS30' demonstrates both the genre's evolution and enduring relevance in today's musical landscape. Comprising three cuts from Kevin Saunderson & KiNK, Dubfire and Marc Houle, this array of club-stomping sounds paves the way for more phenomenal years to come.

Charles Duff and Daniel Fisher have known each other since well before their respective forays into dance music. They serendipitously crossed paths at some point in the early 2010s with mutual friends in the NYC club kid scene. Shortly thereafter they realised they both were keen to ditch the vapid hipster bullshit that had fueled their early careers thus far in order to pursue something pure: techno. Mind you, this was at a time when it was not terribly cool to be into underground dance music. If anything, they both were greeted with massive skepticism from their peers but that didn't ultimately deter them. Both went from relative obscurity to regular slots at Berghain. And for two American kids musing in a pathetic bedroom studio, this was nothing short of a dream come true. A prophecy had been fulfilled.
The two tried their hands at numerous attempts at collaboration over a 5 year period but nothing seemed to stick. Most of it sucked horrendously according to them. But not on this occasion. The stars finally came into alignment and they were able to execute a concise group of tracks that finally made sense together. Which brings us to Threads.
Threads, an homage to the uber-dystopian BBC docudrama from the 80s, sums up their dynamic approach to tracks. It's an alienating, sinister take on techno that somehow manages to not fully lose faith in dire times. Much like life today.
