It starts off unassumingly, with a bright, airy beach boogie that's all gentle drums and trebly synth figurations, but it quickly turns its eye to the strobe-lit nightclub, first with 'Delusions of Grandeur,' an angular hypnosis of syncopated rhythms, then with 'Aerial,' a 130 BPM blitz with an epic build and an equally dramatic breakdown. Capping it off is '50 AM,' which, as the name indicates, is a woozy shuffle that'll help you land the plane nice and easy.

With a career spanning over 20 years worth of Djing, production and label work, Shlomi Aber has gradually cemented his position as one of the scene's cornerstones. His first outing for Figure sees the now Barcelona-based artist drawing on his many influences to deliver a tastefully rounded three- tracker. ‚Under two Worlds' grooves sublty aong a funky acid riff, while anthemic synths longilgy recall bygone moments of grandeur. This unique Aber-ability, creating a composition that is as elegantly understated as it is undoubtedly epic, also comes through on the record's B-side. Paced only at half-time and drenched in dubby reverb, the weighing beats of ‚Rumbles' engage with delicately shapedhead sounds for some seriously spaced-out head nods. ‚Matrix' is an tightly woven mesh of machinery insides, which Aber nevertheless manages to channel into a fairly straight- forward kinetic energy.

In time for the 20th anniversary of his label Hospital Productions, Dominick Fernow offers the first release of his Techno-focused moniker Vatican Shadow on Ostgut Ton, following up on his Berghain residency and joining Ostgut Booking in 2016 with his Vatican and Prurient projects.

The Cocteau Twins/This Mortal Coil-channelling, beatless widescreen opener 'They Deserve Death' and the two collateral club/dancefloor tracks 'Rubbish Of The Floodwaters' and 'Weapons Inspection' offset each other by reincarnating the tape manipulation that laid the foundation of Vatican's first
performances with analog hardware and minimalist midi-dissection. Produced in Los Angeles with Josh Eustis, Vatican Shadow's Rubbish Of The Floodwaters EP casts a full spectrum picture of where the project was born and where it headed.

Special focus was put on this EP's artwork, contributed by Berlin-based photographer Christian Vagt, taken from his Softex series. With Softex Vagt documents the military and police-run refugee camp located on the industrial diaspora near Thessaloniki. Vagt's photograph of Softex' concealing but sheer fence extends Vatican Shadow's recontextualisation of newspaper, military and religious quotes, cementing the sound storage medium of vinyl as a mixed media art object, colligating Vagt's motif from Softex with Vatican Shadow's 'media blackout/silence'.

While some of you might think of Planet Rhythm as one of those old labels from back in the day, it may not necessarily be the correct judgement. Not only is it a product of its past achievements, but it's also pushing things forward in the present time, with Woo York being one of a few new artists emerging from the imprint's recent catalogue. That said, 2014 starts with Ukrainian duo taking over Planet Rhythm headquarters as the label's proprietors and getting in charge of all of its future development.

First out of press is the duo's own EP highlighting their shift towards brand new, hardware-driven studio setup. From abstract TB-303-ish structures of Acid Rain, through the building peaks of Analogue Swamp, a perfect example of stripping functional techno, to Come Closer's uplifting trance-y melodies and the closing sequence of Strobe 1, this record is shaping up to be Woo York's strongest release to date.

An expressive electronic album filled with sadness, yet one with the sort of positive, stirring resolve that leaves you feeling utterly comforted, Bjarki's new album 'Happy Earthday' is influenced by his home country Iceland as well as environmental issues. Having released bodies of work on Nina Kraviz's label and his own label bbbbbb, Bjarki views 'Happy Earthday' as his proper debut album; he feels it's a more coherent and conceptual body of work that finds him offering up music he never thought he would release. 'You can consider this album a window into my head and even my soul,' says Bjarki. 'For me it is a bit odd, sharing like this to the world. As a very private person I am not used to opening my door so completely. It's a little scary for me. 'What if ...' I wonder, expecting all kinds of everything.'
There are skeletal rhythms with sombre chords lingering in the air, downbeat drums with heavy moods, and moments of more uplifting optimism along the way. Throughout the album - made up of comparatively short tracks that help the whole thing move at an engaging pace - Bjarki always manages to make his machines sing with real resonance; they ooze genuine pain and a stunning sense of melancholy that is comforting even when the tempo is raised and drums come to the fore

After releasing HVL's Away From Everything We Know 12" back in 2015, Organic Analogue welcome the Georgian producer back to present his long-awaited debut album. As a resident of the much-vaunted club BASSIANI, HVL conceived Ostati as a document of the sound of Tbilisi - centred on warm, outboard house and techno but with a noticeably understated mood.
The club tracks take a pared down approach that favours space and meditation over bold brush strokes, but between the teeth-gnashing bite of "Askinkila" or the rough and ready acid workout "Continuum," the sound is gutsy and dripping with character. Ostati spells out a space where dim lights and mysterious corners provide a playground for wild ideas to dart around in the dark. The overall atmosphere may appear subdued, but it's merely a cover for the fiery spirit lurking underneath.

Ekman returns to Bedouin Records with Tangent, a 4 track episode of grungy club-shaking Electro experiments. Conjuring up images of run down 20XX cityscapes, gloomy and rained-in. Ekman is the lightning in the rain, bringing in kick drums like thunder amid brazen and dizzying metallic synth lines fused to confrontational lo-fi hi-hats. Recommended for the nighttime urban explorer.

Erol Alkan returns to Phantasy with 'Spectrum' and 'Silver Echoes', his first original solo material in five years; two pure dancefloor cuts which perfectly embody Alkan's charismatic, psychedelia tinged and singular approach to DJing and production.

'Spectrum' opens with shattering live drums in the spirit of his celebrated band production work and culture as founder and resident of seminal London club, Trash, before his equally striking synthesis rises into the mix, building towards a pulsing, blissful acid house reveal. Maintaining an irresistible rhythm, Alkan interweaves between tension and release, physical raw percussion and driving analogue modulation.

On 'Silver Echoes', Alkan bridges melancholia with the natural euphoria at the heart of some of his finest reworks and productions to stunning effect. Diving immediately into the heart of a powerful melody that gradually flourishes, the track unfolds waves of blissful electro, each revealing subtle details.

A perfect summation of both past and contemporary influences, as well as a lifelong open-minded stance, 'Spectrum' and 'Silver Echoes', each capture a side of Alkan's always-evolving energy and technique, mixing his studio prowess with a timeless instinct rooted within the communal potential of the dance floor.

Prolific Manchester producer, Jozef K's forthcoming release, Dawn Of A New Era, showcases Afro Acid's introspective side, with a series of post-apocalyptic, shimmering acid landscapes - which are sequenced, notably, as a complete work.

After a slew of signings to some of the biggest labels in house and techno we are proud to present this ethereal record from Jozef.

The EP begins with 'I Felt A Presence', a both heartfelt & dystopian 303 cut containing an atmospheric vocal that alternates between undefined parameters.

'Between Two Worlds', Jozef's acidic ode to Twin Peaks/David Lynch, portrays an intricate interplay between dark and light, (which is an underlying theme of the show for non-TP fans).

There are also further meanings Mr. K wanted the listener to discover for themselves, a very Lynchian concept indeed.

Track 3 is the dreamy and pensive 'Agkistrodon Contortix'. Another shimmering sci-fi 303 cut.

The EP's title track would seem to be the EP's euphoric peak. A continuation of the isolated, sci-fi-esque 303 based introspection here.

New York's P.Leone debuts on Rekids Special Projects with four vinyl-only techno cuts this February. Debuting on Spencer Parker's Work Them Records in 2016, P.Leone has since launched his own imprint entitled E-Missions alongside label partner Caiazzo. Moving to Berlin last year, the American producer has quickly earned himself a name within the German capital, making regular appearances at the likes of Tresor and ://about blank, and now joining respected Berlin-based label Rekids as part of their vinyl-only series. Metallic echoes, robust kicks and breakbeat percussion lay the foundation for 'Rose Petal Breaks', before 'Noon Service' demonstrates crystalline synths and futuristic effects. On the flip, thudding drums and energetic claps form 'Hold Me Down' until the ominous 'Sometimes I Feel Strong' concludes the package with rattling components and a cacophony of intricacies.

X/OZ is proud to announce our newest addition to the family: Waage. Waage exploded onto the scene in 2017 with his debut release W which was critically acclaimed and sat on top of the Juno techno charts for two months before selling out. The EP was also selected as one of Juno's techno releases of the year. Now he's back with W2, a continuation of the W series. A rhythmic, haunting, yet danceable piece and a worthy continuation to his celebrated debut.

One of Jensen Interceptor's strongest releases to date, and no wonder, it's on Craigie Knowes! Everything that Jensen's followers enjoy in terms of his electro master-class is included here, and much more too. On this record his gaze occassionally drifts from his hard-hitting electro sound to land on 4x4 beats and acid flavours, in true Craigie Knowes fashion.

Amandra + Ovend = Ovandra. The two French artists team up for an LP on their joint label Ahrpe. "Retrofuture" is out on March 15th.

Since the beginning of the label, the two minds behind Ahrpe Records knew they would work together at some point, but things often take time. Away from Ahrpe, Ovend's productions so far have found a home on Tale Of Us' label Afterlife, whilst Amandra has appeared on the likes of Semantica and Tikita. Now, following two weeks spent in Amandra's studio in Warsaw, the pair's styles merge seamlessly into a well-balanced, stirring sound that blurs the lines between techno and trance.

The opener "Dolphin" sets the tone. Amandra"s infinitely-evolving grooves roll with restrained percussion and subtle developments, Ovend's trancey synth lines snake in-and-out. The tracks that follow offer variations on a focused theme; there's acid murmurs and driving beats in the more introspective, voodoo techno cuts "Souvenir Souvenir" or "Wet Sahara", and dreamy melodies on the title track.

Without ever leaning too heavily on nostalgia, the record's bright harmonics evoke the euphoria of the European clubbing heyday. "Retrofuture" emits an energy that exceeds its measured tempo, a blend of modern and vintage ideas. "Golden Vanilla" provides an epic high towards the end, where a synth lead glows like a ray of light through the hazy atmosphere. A pair of breathtaking beatless pieces complete a coherent and fresh LP which looks to stand the test of time and offer DJs something different.

Last Year Mannerfelt Contributed To Modeselektion Vol. 4, Now He's Back With A Set Of Four Tracks Following His Unique Strain Of Abstract Techno. - life Without Friction Is About Disruption As Well As Peculiar Moods And Rhythms, And Other Than Its Title May Suggest, There's A Lot Of Friction And Tenseness In These Tracks. For the third release 'Purify Records' presents the first solo EP of the cologne based label co-founder 'Tangram'. Having refined his craft for many years 'Circadian Rhythms' showcases his unique ability to create immersive and hypnotic soundtrips tailored for dancefloor usage and home listening pleasure alike. The Connection Machine is Natasja Hagemeier and Jeroen Brandjes. The CD-only original release from 2004 has been re-mastered and features nine tracks for this first-time vinyl version of the album. The Down Low label is a vital US resource for deeply personal electronic music that works both in bedrooms and DJ booths. It's a label that put out celebrated albums and EPs by the likes of Convexion, E.R.P and Dan Curtin, and played a key role during its first lifetime. Ten years after their last release they return with this double 180g vinyl version of the Painless album by The Connection Machine. It is an album made up of material made in the nineties that never saw the light of day and is full of achingly deep moods, dreamy acid house, down tempo electronics, ambient, and Detroit techno, all of which make it a lost classic from the Dutch techno scene. This is a vital reissue that not only re-introduces this forgotten classic to a whole new audience, but also the Down Low Music label itself.

Following the first of the 'SHIFT LTD' capsule collection by Xhin is an EP by Kirk Degiorgio with a remix from John Beltran. Full-bodied tracks fill in every frequency corner - 'The Nearness of Flames' as a headspin stomper, while 'Acid Symphony' weaves an acid line into a rich tapestry. Ambient producer John Beltran reimagines the original with a sunrise touch.

Paul Woolford returns to Hotflush with 'Mother & Child', his third solo outing on the label following the inescapable anthems, 'Untitled' and 'MDMA'.
'Mother & Child' sees Woolford explore a different style and more cultivated mood. Comprised of two variations on a theme, the lead cut combines both sostenuto and clipped strings in an overarching and evolving melody. There's a sense of menace and foreboding, yet the record's heart belongs, as ever, strongly to Woolford's home
turf - the dance floor. This newfound contemplative air is brought to the fore on 'Mother & Child Divided' as he strips back all rhythmic elements to leave a beautifully sprawling tapestry of strings and synths; alluring, dramatic and cinematic in scope. One hopes this mother and child find each other again...

Peter Van Hoesen launches his new Center 91 imprint with a four-track EP. Opal Balance is the inaugural EP on Peter Van Hoesen's new Center 91 imprint, which will host a series of releases in 2019. Via this newly launched platform, Peter Van Hoesen looks back towards his own experiences of the late 90s Belgian underground, extrapolating references from the intensity of the Brussels warehouse raves which continue to influence his practice as a producer, DJ and live performer. The Opal Balance EP features four hypnotic, disorienting techno cuts with a subtle nod to Belgium's classic rave tradition. Rapidly mutating sonic disturbances and frantic leads are driven forwards by angular percussion and sweltering sub bass. Whilst there are elements of nostalgia here, Peter keeps his aesthetic firmly grounded in the contemporary, applying his trademark high-end sound design to the microscopic details of each production. Opal Balance re-examines fragments of the late 90s techno scene, distorting their characteristics in expertly carved acoustic spaces to forge a highly effective package.

53 Degrees North marks SK_eleven s seventh release, as Setaoc Mass continues to add to his flourishing imprint; this time with a two-part EP release. 53 Degrees North Part One focuses its efforts on four-to-the-floor club-centric music the label head is renowned for. All four tracks are emblazoned with his signature, disparate pairing of light and dark sound palettes glued beneath rich, atmospheric textures and hypnotism - all the while keeping its muscular club chassis gleaming beneath. Part Two of the double release sees Coates revealing more of his experimental side. The second cut pays homage to past influences of the producer as he floats between ambient, IDM and electro cuts with ease, all rife with emotion and passion.

Shxcxchcxsh's Rosten label welcomes fellow Swedish producer Sissel Wincent for a smashing vinyl EP, 'Assorted Lights'. 2018 was indeed a busy year for Sissel, having released her second EP on Peder Mannerfelt's imprint as well as collaborating on his new LP. She also made a remix for Fever Ray and took part of the infamous Shape platform roster. With 'Assorted Lights', she pursues her unique blend of minimalism, gabber and experimental sounds to greatest effect. Machines squeal, squeak and hiss in the most natural way conveying passion and emotions with energy from start to finish. Four dancefloor bangers that showcases Sissel Wincent's talent to create dark, odd, yet cosy atmospheres of her own and some of the freshest dance music around.

Alexander Kowalski is someone you should know. Not only is he a resident artist at our club, but with uncountable EPs and several albums on Heiko Laux' label Kanzleramt and others, he has contributed more to electronic music than many others. To have a separate platform for the darker and harder productions of his, he created the alias D_FUNC. a while ago. When he approached us with the tracks that are now on the record in hand, we immediately fell in love with the Mills-like energy of them. Perfect drum programming, driving synth lines two perfect tools for any proper techno set. The Dirt Mix of Revalism which is included in the digital release package puts the original in a more modern jacket with its stompy beat - another proof of how well Alexander knows what the djs need to please their crowd.

Electronic Leatherette is back with third release. Internal reflection is 4 track split EP which contains two melancholical autumn-techno tracks from Exhausted Modern on incidence side and two acid athems from CCO as refraction.

With his new four-track EP, Gardens of God takes you in and keeps your body and mind in motion alongside its somber, yet fast-paced rhythmic flow. 'Blut' comes in with a feeling of impending danger which lingers throughout the higher-pitched title-track 'Rau', never cutting down the established tension. As the anticipation grows and the dark and steady 'Trys' lets you revel in its consistent beats, 'Red Is The Colour' takes in on the challenge to bewilder, remaining sharp and compelling before leaving the listener lingering on the ominous dreamscape of 'Rau EP'.

Inspired by the resounding contrast, the one that maintains the balance in between two concepts. It doesn't matter how distant they are.

Leiras delivers a new excursion on this new 12", exploring the wasteland and the hostile terrains, but somehow luminous, sometimes even pleasing. Under this apparent antithesis, the first part of "Turquoise Tundra" starts in a tipping point.

"Body Language" offers a mixture of the layers with arid and resonant sounds combined, in which atmospheres have also an important role, melting everything in a solid result.

Direct, dry, evolutive. Convincingly basic. This is "Atalaya". A tool necessary in case you get lost in the middle of nowhere. Pure muscle definition.

Continuing in the other side of the record, we discover one of the most visceral and raw exercises from Ownlife's boss. In "The Rebis", the bubbly sound of the bass, and the driving kick, make this track a defensive wall, like a scar on the terrain. A place where you can take refuge when it's necessary.

In the other extreme, the pure turquoise tone gives way to the breaks and more complex structures. "North State" resumes the sings of identity that define this artist. A narrative touch that builds the bridge to the second and last part of this project... TO BE CONTINUED.

Egopool gets back on Subdimension with a new single titled "Control". This time the German based producer used are a lot of analog gears, like Analog Rhythm, Prophet 8, Moog Voyager, Dominian and System 8 to craft a melodic techno track with enchanting arpeggios and warm basses.
The original mix is accompanied with two remixes signed by Kiko (already known for his releases on Get Physical / Noir / Suara) and Cumhur Jay, who provided their personal reinterpretation of the main theme. The first offers a drier version with huge percussions, the second gets in with a darker mood and a twisted bass arpeggio. Pick your favorite, and take control!

TV Victor was one of the first artists of Tresor Records where he became legendary with several of his ambient and trance productions including Trance Garden 1-3 and Trancecology Chapter 1. In 1989, he launched his first solo project: Moondance - The Magic Sound of the Moon, where he lay foundations for later explorations with experimental sounds fused with pop elements and anticipated an ambient excursion to be had in the future.

In the following decades TV Victor created impressive solo works that traversed between ambient and trance, he collaborated with artists like Moritz v. Oswald, Max Loderbauer, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Paul Browse and Tobias Freud. Contrary to common mainstream tendencies he created a very unique interpretation of both genres. In recent years Victor has concentrated on creating experimental and abstract sonic spaces for escaping reality, spaces that live through the imagination of the listener. Each piece, a segment of a larger musical movement; stands alone to create new sonic continuums. Otherworldy music that is in its own sphere.

30 years after the release of Moondance and 50 years after the first landing, Lullabies For Insomniacs revisit TV Victor's musical roots with 'Back To The Moon'. The previously unreleased works were carefully selected from his vaults and restored by Berlin based engineer Brett Olke (B Ashra), the album offers a glimpse into the future by creating a soundtrack for mankind's settlement of beyond in a conceivable hereafter.

NITZER EBB and Mute have announced details of the first in a re-release campaign of the band's catalogue on vinyl and CD that will cover the world outside North America. In 1997 legendary producer Orlando Voorn delivered two tracks for the Get Lost and Past-Present+Future compilations, as well as the idea of a full length album for his Ultra moniker. This was completed in 1998 shortly before the initial shutdown of Multiplex. Some tracks were scattered onto other releases, but this Planet Ultra EP is compiled of five previously unreleased compositions from the Multiplex album of the same name, plus the Barwork track - finally on vinyl after more than twenty years.

DJing since at the age of 12, he won the Dutch DMC championships in '86. Going on to produce a multitude of club bangers since the early 90's. Spanning many genres, his short lived Ultra alias was reserved for a deep electro vibe.

On ice for two decade these classic electro tracks reference the early UK breakbeat of the 90's as well as the obvious sci-fi connection. To that effect we kick off with "Teflon" and "Plasma", followed by the funky "In The Galaxy" which adds a touch of Herbie Hancock. On the flip side "Ultra Light" evolves to an all-encompassing, atmospheric trip, before the deep "Barwork" and finally "Open".

A Detroit ghettotech style of dancing is called the jit, which relies heavily on fast footwork combinations, drops, spins and improvisations. It originated from 'the Jitterbug,' a stateside dance style from the 40's that became a worldwide sensation by way of US soldiers spreading it during WW2, quickly getting banned by authorities on account of being rude, vulgar and against the interests of the war effort. The movements are characterized by a highly energetic and ecstatic movements, and the frenetic mixing style reflects the highly improvisational nature of the dance, and the DJ's who spin ghettotech wildly blend together chicago juke and footwork, jungle, miami bass, electro, hard techno. This is the first in a series of Jit compilations transmitted from planet Detroit and beamed directly into the ghetto of your mind. Line Explorations present its first release - a compilation consisting of six tracks by six national artists, producing under the names of T'iwu, HTL, PX, emme, AMSH and Mensaje Sanador, serving as a sampler for what's to come in the future on the label and the sounds the label will evoke such as techno, IDM, ambient, noise, drone and experimental vibrations from the further avant-garde,

The first track focuses on growing an organic and everyday sonic scape with the use of chords and melodies filled with light touch - reminiscent of clear skies and sunshine - which creates an ambient feel similar to that of daily vibrations of life as presented and explored by T'iwu.

HTL enhances the depth of the reflections of today's emotions one can feel by delving deeper into everyday surroundings and exploring the noise/drone side of the ambient musical styles by mixing melodic elements with the out of the ordinary effects which shock and ululate while shaping the musical texture into a darker and deeper atmosphere.

The following track, by PX, elevates the atmosphere into a more jovial soundscape full of '80's inspired electronica and sci-fi soundtracks. The beat rolls off and twists in a funky groove helping develop a danceable pace for the release.

On top of that, emme presents the fourth track - in the shape of techno meets breaks - where more classical elements of industrially influenced electronic music can be traced from yesteryears. The sounds engulf in warmly distorted melodic strings while flowing over and under the rhythmic structure.

In contrast, AMSH's ''Subway'' presents a downpour of heavy sounds, such as noise influenced synths and delayed infected percussion, along with field recording of trains help envision the movement of a manmade machine and its flow through the undergrounds of today's world.

The final piece, of the label's initial release, comes in the shape of a Mensaje Sanador or healing message. The track takes on the elements of the three titles that have preceded it and explores further the dynamics between current and classical sounds of the electronic dance music genres by delving deeper into sound synthesis, melodies and rhythm as to help one submerge further into exploring such sounds, their history and the future to come.

Rising star Ben Sterling has already garnered huge support from label co-founder Jamie Jones. Moving into 2019, the talented youngster makes his debut on Hot Creations, delivering three punchy, high-octane tracks this February.

The EP kicks of with Surrender - a track that shows no mercy with its heavy drums, hedonistic vocal hooks and a rolling groove. On title track The Energy, Sterling layers breathy vocals over a driving bass, perfect for those 3am losing your mind moments. EP closer, Apathetic Behaviour, is pure unadulterated after-hours fodder.

One of the original residents of Josh Butler's Origins series, Ben Sterling has had tracks signed to Butler's label of the same name where he joined greats such as Kerri Chandler, Groove Armada and Huxley. Last year saw the young DJ play at the infamous Warehouse Project alongside KiNK, Dennis Cruz, Patrick Topping, Richy Ahmed and Marquis Hawkes. He's performed at some of dance music's leading events including Paradise, Elrow and Kaluki. In 2019, Sterling shows no sign of slowing down with events already locked in for Printworks, Hideout and Snowbombing.

Third LP of Cabaret Contemporain, French band (featuring Fabrizio Rat on keys) who use acoustic instruments (piano, guitar, bass, drums, contrabass) to produce a « hand-crafted » club music infused with techno. Inspired by Jeff Mills, Robert Hood or Drexciya, the five members already had a career on classical scene; their idea is not to replay classical techno tunes but to create a new path for the electronic music. 2 tracks featuring with the label boss, Arnaud Rebotini.

« Ballaro », which opens Cabaret Contemporain's third album, begins with light percussions, which seem to turn on themselves, while being conveyed by reverberations close to dub. After a few minutes of convolutions, the piece gets out of hand, transporting the listener into a rich form of pulsating trance, irrigated by a soaring melody and punctuated by persistent piano tones. « La selva »; more subdued, has the same energy, the track ending in an even more powerful way, a kind of paroxysm.

Finally, the strangest and most minimal « Cactus », features a singular groove, which evokes the most brutal house from Chicago, or the sometimes obsessive techno from Detroit. Just like other tracks such as « Transistor » or « TGV », fuelled by sweat and trance, Séquence Collective bears all the intensity of a techno cut for clubs' dancefloors. The only difference being that their music is not played with synths, drum machines or software, but with acoustic instruments. Dual curriculum The band is composed of five musicians and a sound engineer: Fabrizio Rat on piano, Giani Caserotto on guitar, Julien Loutelier on drums, Ronan Courty and Simon Drappier on double bass and of course Pierre Favrez on console. They are all in their thirties and met at the prestigious Paris Conservatoire in the late 2000s. However, all the musicians in the band have a double curriculum and navigate freely between the institutional realm and the underground or pop music scenes. Through classical or contemporary music, jazz and improvisation, rock and experimentation, they share a common passion for the original and futuristic techno of the 1990s, that of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood or Drexciya, which they have decided to reinvent and further in their own way. Not as a simple stylistic exercise practiced by virtuoso musicians, but rather as a new path for modern music, and for their generation. « The original idea » they say, « was to make club music by hand, like craftsmen. Like in the early days of jazz, our band managed to transform itself into a kind of dancing machine. Our music is therefore functional because it is danceable, but also mental and abstract, while offering several layers of listening. You can dance and play, have a purely physical and sensory connection to the music. But you can also immerse yourself in its listening, perceive refined harmonies or more complex rhythmic superpositions »

If the tones of Cabaret Contemporain are truly unique it is because each member of the band has developed a very personal approach through the use ''prepared'' instruments. The strings of their piano, guitar or double bass may recall strange machines with literally incredible sounds, obtained using objects such as chopsticks, clothes pegs, foil, hangers, a tiny pie mould or many other utensils from a DIY store. A collective energy

Cabaret Contemporain is first and foremost a live band that has been performing in venues and festivals since its inception in 2012 (Nuits Sonores, Siestes Electroniques, L'Aéronef, Le Trabendo, Philharmonie de Paris, Gaîté Lyrique, Rewire, Dancity, Barcelona Accio Musical...), both at traditional jazz and contemporary music venues, and more often at electro music hubs. When facing the audience, the band, which plays each of its sets in one go, without a break, shows an intense physical presence, which competes with the musical power of DJs who share the stage with them. Their performance, full of tension and repetition, which requires maximum concentration and a state close to trance from the musicians, is sometimes, according to them, « a mental journey and a mystic experience ». A dimension that brings to mind the historical techno culture and its dancers who, communicating on the dancefloor, were carried until the early hours of the morning by the power of the beat. An album inspired by the stage Since their beginnings, their compositions on record have drawn their energy directly from the practice of their concerts, whether referring to Terry Riley (2014) or Moondog (2015), an EP and an album dedicated to the repertoire of the two American artists, the original compositions of Cabaret Contemporain (2016) and Satellite EP (2017), as well as this new album. Séquence collective can be listened to as a condensed transcription of their inventions and their live experiments. The tracks, more than half of which were improvised during sessions held in the former Vogue studios near Paris, were recorded in live conditions, « like an old school rock band » they say. As usual, they invited a new musician to join them in the studio. After collaborating with Étienne Jaumet or Château-Flight, Arnaud Rebotini, César winner for best film music, added a welcome synth touch on two tracks (Pro- One, Prophet 600), which boosted the group's formidable collective energy. The album ends with « October Glide », again performed with Rebotini, a lyrical and lively track, built on a powerful and slow progression of timbres and percussions, which would ideally find its place at the core of a techno party « peak time »

- Coming off Transmission, Death in Vegas's critically acclaimed 6th album which saw the band collaborating with Sasha Grey, are three unique remixes by Silent Servant and Rudolf Klorzeiger.

- Silent Servant delivers two stunning mixes of You Disco I Freak. In his first remix he elevates the discordant melody in You Disco I Freak and adds a sense of menace with a new sequence, taking the track in a more sinister direction. With his second version, he takes the heat up a notch with a brutal workout synonymous with his signature abrasive sound.

- Dopplereffekt, Drexciya, Arpanet, Der Zyklus, Japanese Telecom, Heinrich Mueller, Rudolf Klorzeiger: Death in Vegas are huge fans of Gerald Donald in all his forms. He choose to 'reproduce' Metal Box, keeping certain elements of the original field recordings, the sounds of the Steel Factory opposite Drone's studio, the incessant drones from the planes landing at City Airport and the dial tones of the studio's VHF radio and layered over these with his own sonic tapestry.

Genosha Basic artists, Ghost In The Machine make their Perc Trax debut !

Perc Trax returns to the dance floor after the political firestorm that was Perc's 'Bitter Music' with the debut release on the label from the Netherland's Ghost In The Machine. The Perc and therefore Perc Trax name stems from the word 'percussion' and these three drum-focused tracks sum up the label's name perfectly.

Rarely appearing away from their own Genosha Basic imprint this EP hits as hard as anything on Perc Trax in recent years and along with recent releases from Ansome and Scalameriya ushers in a new wave of artists and a distinct new chapter in the Perc Trax story.

'The Holy Grill' commands the whole of the A-side and charges forward until a Reese led breakdown gives you a moment to pause for breath. The B-side contains two percussive workouts that have enough movement and development to them to elevate them above simple drum tools. As B2 track 'PSKDT's locked groove loops endlessly (a first for Perc Trax), it is clear this EP is a hard-hitting statement of intent from a duo you should be hearing a lot more on Perc Trax in the near future.
