Ukrainian duo Woo York mark their 5th release on Soma Records with the pulsing Blade Runner, backed by an incredible Zadig remix. The boys have made a welcome home on Soma Records as the continue to push their raw analogue sound upon the world.

Title track Blade Runner has all the hallmarks of a Woo York production. Uniquely structured sequences quickly give way to a straight up Techno groove. Subtly dubbed drums and sweeps compliment the ever evolving tonal aspects of the track allowing for greater depth.

Phantom comes out fighting as a well produced haunting effort from Woo York. Building gently, perfectly weighted drums are set to a rising dark of synth swells and pulses.

French Techno wizard Zadig steps up with a monster remix of Blade Runner to close out the EP. A Mills-esq 909 beat, enchanted pads and a subtle use of the originals sequences are drawn out by the Paris based producers as quick firing drum patterns roll out over a deftly crafted soundscape.

Recorded in the immediate aftermath of his last EP "Passed Me By", this new doublepack from Andy Stott features six new productions that are more desolate and exposed than anything on its predecessor.

Andy Stott’s classic bout of screwed, knackered House is a shapeshifting, hardy perennial whose crushing traction and atmospheric grip has only deepened in the decade (+1) since it was first issued, as part of a now notorious one-two in 2011 beside ‘Passed Me By’. Out of print for almost a decade, it’s now finally available again in a new edition that’s still sounding unlike pretty much anything else we’ve heard in the intervening years.

’We Stay Together’ was a proper watershed moment for Andy Stott in the nascent phase of an inspirational stylistic arc. While he’d spent the previous six years constructing everything from warehouse-shuddering deep house and dub techno to bare-boned dubstep, the arrival of a new decade paid witness to Stott turning inward, collapsing what he’d learnt from late night sessions with the Modern Love crew into a radical new sound that was arguably without precedent in its field.

The simple move of screwing the tempo to circa 100BPM would, in turn, open out his sound, prising room between the rhythms which he coloured with a palette of particularly bruised, processed outside-the-box textures gleaned from an array of guitar pedals and endlessly churned samples. There were, of course, parallels in DJ Screw’s codeine-infused treatments of classic rap and soul, and their influence on the contemporaneous “witch house” style, but few, if any, were doing it within a techno and club music context that hewed so close to the darker, gristlier underbelly and animus of Manchester’s warehouse heritage. This style of viscous, cranky chug proved fertile ground that would be explored in-depth over the next decade - you can hear traces of it on everything from Overmono’s sludge to Low’s acclaimed 'Double Negative’ - and trust when we say it’s the source of it all. But, still, nothing twats quite as smart or heavy as ‘We Stay Together’.

From an opening that uncannily echoes the rinsed-out empty warehouse scenes in the closing stages of ‘Fioriucci Made Me Hardcore’, the serotonin-depleted ’Submission’ triggers a side-chained momentum that helplessly drags users thru the gnarly mire of ‘Posers’ to the zombied lurch of ‘Bad Wires’ and its title tune’s ket-legged strut. He pushes the aesthetics to asphyxiating degrees on ‘Cherry Eye’, but not without a glimmer of hope in its underwater choral motifs that always buoys his best bits from utter doom, before ‘Cracked’ stresses the metallic tang of his textures with a bloodlust and vital, systolic throb whose effect has only been galvanised with age.

It's with great pleasure that we offer up our next release from Dez Williams. One of our favourite producers of recent years through releases on standout UK labels like SCSI-AV, Acruacree, Ai and many others, we had noticed an absence of new 12"s since his storming doublepack on Patrick Pulsinger's Cheap imprint in 2008. So to put things right, here's an end to the Dez Williams vinyl drought - 4 tracks of bonafide Holyhead magic to rock the floor.
Starting with the melting frequencies of 'Underground Persistent', acid is in control. Like an Emmanuel Top and Kosmik Messenger track if they'd ever collaborated, this combines swingy 808 drums and masterful Detroit strings to a searing acid-line that keeps going and going. Switching things into more straight-ahead acid territory on A2, 'Untitledacid 6' has pretty much one intention and that's to jack hard. Perhaps one of Dez's heaviest techno tracks to date, it's a perfect snapshot of many hedonistic nights spent at The Orbit throughout his formative techno years.

'Freedom' on the flip is a dense techno workout that joins a strong looped vocal and distorted percussion to swamping sound fx, in a rough but funky way. This time an expert pad progression brings the track to an unexpected but fitting finale. Finally, and showing what a complete supremo he is where dark floor-friendly electro is concerned, Dez turns in a blistering cut of sci-fi electro with 'Courtesy Call'. We could have made a number of records with the amount of great electro tracks that Dez does, but in this case we just picked our favourite of the bunch.

New release from label boss Valentin Corujo aka Kessell, half of Exium duo. Four tracks of modern techno pressed on limited colored vinyl in transparent green, clear & black mixed.

After 15 years of full time dedication to the deejing art, Kristina launches out herself with her own label Amsafe Records (12inch + digital).
The idea of The label was born at the beginning of Kristina's career as a mandatory necessity, and her vision to create her own productions.
Amsafe Records will launch, in a 6 month time frame, the 2 first eps. One of them, the 'TRAXX1' will be available to purchase in 30 days. Triple Vision Distribution (NL) will be charge in of its worldwide distribution.
'TRAXX1' will be composed of three cuts that taken as a whole is 12inch, solid and with retro reminiscences.
On the A face we will find 'Dark Sinhoutte'. It is a track materialized with a progressive and incessant acid sound, assemble in a 3X4 chachis that reminds those first Proper NYC discs productions launched by Steve Stoll in the 90'. On face B the cuts are introduced by themselves with some roots and influences of Dub.
On the A1, 'Absolute' keeps in itself such influence, more reinforced with delays and arrangements that sometimes, recalls to Retro-techno sounds to finally give way for an emotional and synthetic line that reveals Kristina's influences from Electro.

On the A2, 'Frictional x/mix version', it shows up as a more lineal track characterized by the subtlety of the changes and the dynamism that converges at the end as a track with minimalistic characteristics. Some Congas and Toms, embellishes this track A2, without hesitation, it is a very useful track designed for more versatile sessions.

The second of two remix EPs for Max Cooper's debut album Human - this one bringing one of the album's most talked about tracks Impacts for the first time, with an acid rework by Pitchfork favourites Factory Floor and Perc's insane, obtuse and uncompromising abstract version. This is also the first release of Harvey McKay's version of an earlier Max track, Von der Klippe Fallen - one long grinding techno beat that opens to the dramatic piano of frequent Max's collaborator Tom Hodge.

Soma present a special vinyl release from Glasgow based producer Petrichor. Fusing two tracks from his first two releases, Petrichor brings a unique and well-produced take on deep, melodic Techno.

Taken from the 2nd EP, Some Bara opens with a perfect melody of plucked synths working their way in over shuffling drum patterns, all taken deeper with perfect low end and sequenced with a very live feel to it. This is definitely a journey with Petrichor at the helm.

A firm favourite from Petrichor's 1st EP, Nukumori starts with more prominent percussion. Atmospheric synths come in to fill up the soundscape and the track slowly broadens out into an engrossing sound. The field recordings and vocal samples afford this track a unique, original quality. The end result is an invigorating and intriguing track that connects emotionally as well as sonically.

Daniel Stefanik is back on the track and it seems even stronger than ever before! After his cocoon album release confidence' and the associated remixes (by Mr. G, Adam Port, Legowelt and Matthias Kaden) Stefanik presents a true tech-house-monster as a dignified return to the label. With Twilight Zone' Stefanik moves away from his Detroit influenced background but stays true to his oldskool flavoured vibe. It is less dub and rooms here but more acid power that makes us move. Wild 909 beats and an overall atmosphere that is dry as a bone let this one communicate pure musical madness. This one rocks floors like thunderstorms. Label head and cocoon master Sven Väth proved this in his gigs over the last weeks and months as Twilight Zone' was one of his sets climax moments every time he dropped it. I Wonder' on the other side breathes the air of Octave One's Blackwater' merged with cool and dubby Basic Channel influences. Stefanik is back in his very own style based on his musical heroes and forms a big techn-house piece out of all the ingredients and influences. This one was made to be played in clubs, soon, at the next gig and loud...and often!

Finally Repressed!
Traumer aka Romain Reynaud has been plugging away of late with a string of fresh material surfacing in 2014, much of which has seen the blossoming producer pick up support from the likes of Mr.G, Franck Roger, and Doc Martin to name but a few. Here we see Romain join the roster of Loco Dice's Desolat imprint. Across the double pack we see Traumer skilfully explore a range of styles, opening cut 'Hoodlum' eases us in nicely with a bass-driven, funk-infused groove fuelled by jazzy melodies and gritty drum sounds. 'Insola', which delves into darker territories, follows this with distorted rhythms, swirling vocal licks and a Detroit tinged stab sequence. 'Shuttering' employs a similar aesthetic tipping the focus towards weighty percussive elements while the processed chord hits subtly drive the movement of the composition. B2 'Static Run' explores new territories as Traumer blends a hypnotic arpeggio with bubbling low-slung percussion and expansive atmospherics. Entering the second 12' we have 'Swish' which sees Romain opt for a more refined and minimalistic drum groove and classic dub tactics to create a blossoming seven-minute cut. 'Wasp' tips the vibe back to peak hours with a bumpy head-nodding rhythm construction, while a low-pitched vocal and evolving, resonant synth lines add a further mind-bending appeal to the record. The package is then rounded off with closing pieces 'Chord X' and 'Mobius', the first of which, as the name would suggest is led by insistent chord sequences and rumbling low-end hits, while the latter well and truly polishes off the package in style with meandering synth lines and a tripped out, unfolding feel.

Acid techno, oldschool minimalistic UK style... New Tune from A.symetric members... A project that tooks 1 year and a half to buil up... First track goes classic progressive TB303 style... Slow and with a clean round kick... Second track is a scout of acidcore, bringing a light and speed kick... B side opens on a superb mental acid progression, served by a dry oldschool kick, hypnotic. Last track defenitly reminds the Kill it style, with an electronica sound, a vocoder and some dirty kicks... Well, this is defenitly something different to any otehr acid record... A superb EP fully realesed for this project. ENJOY !

Here comes the third EP by our new artist on Echocord Colour, the super talented Roberto Clementi from Italy.

Roberto is one of the most inventive and creative electronic music artists currently making his name known in the underground scene at the moment.

Roberto is mostly known for his releases on Soma, eps + album. He has also been releasing on Brendon Moeller's label Steadfast Records, and labels like Baum and Kontra- Musik.

Both tracks are super powerfull Techno tracks, full of deepness, heavy staps and dubby elements, perfect for the dancefloor.

* This is the seventh Surgeon album.

* "While exploring new production techniques using old and unlikely hardware, the results were so unusual that I really had the sense that these pieces of equipment didn't actually create these sounds, rather they were in fact some kind of elaborate reception device that allowed me to tune into transmissions from Distant Galaxies. The music I could hear was actually the received transmissions of Pop Hits from those Distant Galaxies that were being played on their radio stations.
I quickly recorded all that I could before losing the transmission.

* I consulted with Dr Andrew Read, the astrophysicist with whom I recorded Guitar Treatments in 1999. He has worked on the discovery of the most distant galaxies and astronomical objects in the Universe. Together we came up with a possible list of where these musical transmissions may have come from."

Acid joys, a collection dancefloor perls, rather techno than tribe... Superb Drop Bass Style sounds.

SORN002 welcomes another experimental beat maker tot he fold. Asan is likely from another planet. His take on techno is like no other. Expect wild drum patterns, freaky synths and alien grooves. Synth Lord Steve Moore strips things back in a way only he can and creates an arpeggiated synth journey which you'd never tire of, even if it was 45 minutes long!

Viennese techno imprint Bare Hands is pushing its rugged, warm analogue sound towards new territories. Their third Release comes from Bedlam and is named ‚ (MIR) EP'. BEDLAM is an on-going collaboration between Bare Hands associates Daniel and Julian.

Dedicated to the fringes of the Techno universe, adding rough and energetic jams to the labels discography.
BUMERANG does what the title suggests and hits right in the head with it's relentless kick drum and intense, manic synth-lines. Followed up by the EP's most classic cut: ESHELONKA, an exploration of 90ies simplicity and jam feel. Fueled by uncompromising directness and simplicity, this one is a tool for the late hours.


Side B offers more experimental cuts Obvalka and Betushnye. Obvalka presents itself as a gentle slow mover, tentatively cooking up the audience yet playfully introducing rougher soundscapes. Betushnye however, the most fringy jam of the bunch consists of sophisticated, electroid drum patterns submerged by depressing drones and uncanny samples. Shivering down the spine to dissolve in the deeper regions of sonic exploration.

Bedlam - (MIR EP arrives in a limited run of 300 on 140g black vinyl and includes hand numbered postcard artwork on raw 180g paper.

Amsterdam's Indigo Aera label is back with part four of their Lost Archives series. The EP features two tracks, one by Befomo and one by label bosses Jasper Wolff and Maarten Mittendorff.

Befomo is a moniker used once only by Rotterdam's Benny Rodrigues, for an album of tracks that he produced some years ago called If One Day This Seems To Be The End. It was a personal project dedicated to his father, which was supposed to remain unreleased. However, following an email conversation with Derrick May, one of the tracks from the album is getting a release here. 'Hugs From The D', a broken drum based deep space funk with celestial pads circling round a jostling drum beat. It's an uplifting, intergalactic bit of music that has real soul at its core.

The flip side is 'Symmetrical', a track by Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff. This one is a seriously fast paced bit of supple and succulent techno with fantastic cymbal work, plenty of slap funk in the percussion and swathes of warming, dubbed out reverb. Once again then, two very special cuts from the Indigo Aera label.

It is a record which balances the deepest drum with the most celestial synth, weaving a legend of both menace and tenderness. Possessed of an underlying hiss, the title track surges to dampen its muscular beat with a fabric of warm melodies. The discerning 'Dimien Andesso' is the Tempered's partner, shuffling with a considered high-end and off-kilter pads. On the flip KR ramps up the pace in introducing the mendacious thumps of 'Nuis Octury', which he twists into a fever. But emblematically KR once more tempers. Closer 'Ezerb Altren' conjures the image and emotion of an underground lake: depth, resonance, and total, glacial serenity.

Following on from the first Amigos EP on which Spain's Paco Osuna mixed it up with his real life friends comes Amigos Pt. 2, another EP of studio collaborations. It's been a great year for Paco, picking up plenty of acclaim across the board for his sets, remixes and productions, not least from DJ Mag Spain who voted him Best DJ, Best Producer and Best Remixer in their recent awards. The first track, 'Art Confusion' is in conjunction with John Lagora and explores woozy, subtle synth lines, squelchy percussion and plenty of sci-fi cinematism as it slowly snakes from a to b, growing ever funkier with each bar. 'Ponsatu' sees Paco team up with Tamamovic to go deep into the stripped back realms of techno. Above rolling grooves and belches of swollen synths sit intricate percussive patterns and barely recognisable voices before the whole thing bubbles over into a tightly coiled rhythm that kicks like a mule. It's fellow Spaniard Uner who steps up to the controls with Paco on 'Paner' and together the pair explore clicky micro rhythms and de-humanised vocal yelps. Thick with swirling air currents and devilish sound design it's a heady brew indeed. Finally, 'StaBass' in collaboration wit Tony Rohr, is a busy drum workout. Punchy and techy, it twists and turns beneath beguiling synth colours and shooting fire fly like sounds, building to intense highs where tension is built and then released at will. As such, it closes out another far ranging EP that shows Paco's friends are as on point in the studio as he is.

Following the success of the 'Anipintiros Reworks', which was a remix double EP of Tripeo's 'Antipintiros' album featuring the likes of Mike Parker, James Ruskin, Blawan, Ben Sims, Cadans and Exium - Tripeo now returns with Sixth Trip.

Each side of the release feature different moods yet both equally suited for past the midnight hour. On side A, the track opens straight into full throttle. A thumping techno track with elevating high-hats and deep tones that will punish any dance floor.

Side B sets the scene for a battle across the supernovas, with a hypnotic over-drive and galloping notes, enveloping the listener into a mesmerizing state.

The 2nd Yes We Can is a collaboration between Broombeck and Patrick Kunkel, which generates a great & diversified Techno EP.

It is hard to believe that it has been a full three years since our great friend Paul Ritch last featured on SCI+TEC with his awesome Circus EP. Well, he's back and bringing us a truly epic new single... PULSE.

With its machine gun snare and omnipresent bass pulse, the eleven minute (to the second) monster begins. The firing rounds of the drum and intense single note synth spark a flurry of sound before the track drops again with Ritch creating a chasmic feel, greatly enhanced by the hollow bongo riff that seems to echo within the great expanse. 

Ron Costa takes on the remix challenge. Tightening the track with his thumping kick drum and vocal tricks, he creates a ripping groove that perfectly complements Paul's original.

Barely into their twenties, Clouds have rapidly evolved from world-class stadium-wrecking maximalists to serious talents featured in sets by techno heavyweights like Richie Hawtin, Chris Liebing, and Marcel Dettman. Their latest EP finds the Scottish duo absorbing the modern UK dance landscape, showing off their exponentially expanding range and proving they can produce bombs for the biggest rooms in virtually any setting.

For the remix, we turned to fellow United Kingdomer Truss, who has produced killer techno both as half of Donor/Truss (we're not entirely sure which), and as a solo artist, earning support and hot chart-love from the likes of Perc, Silent Servant, and Tommy Four Seven.

Drumcell is the founder of Droid Recordings and co­founder of Droid Behavior along with the Vangelis and Vidal Vargas of Raíz. Since the mid Nineties Drumcell has been a firm believer in the power of techno and over the past decade become one of Southern California's greatest champions. As a graduate of the Musician's Institute, a veteran performer at parties, and longtime
recording engineer Drumcell harnesses a strong musical background with a gifted sense of technological intuition. The delicate balance keeps him pushing the limits of his gear
continually as a way to develop his artistic express. Forming the Droid Behavior collective with the Vargas brothers in the early 2000's was another other major step in this ongoing development. In turn, the collective has helped expose other local artists as well as established DJs to the growing legion of techno fans in the Los Angeles basin. In the past five years, he's played alongside nearly every major DJ in the genre via the trio's signature Interface parties. This year he also did a mini­tour of the US which culminated in him playing the main stage at the prestigious Movement festival in Detroit. Drumcell 's constant push into the bleeding edges of music technology has earned him the title of product specialist for Native Instruments. He is out there pushing the limits of what current technology has to offer­ developing homebrew software as well as cutting edge hardware solutions to bring a fresh, innovative taste to his production and
performances. Innovations that blur the lines between live performance and a traditional DJ set up creating a thick blend of acidic techno and aggressive but funky minimalist
groove'. Drumcell is one of the few artists exploiting the full power of software like Traktor and Ableton run through state­of­the­art Allen & Heath mixer technology. In conjunction, the trinity is used to create a hybrid of flexibility and fidelity for the ultimate in electronic music performance. Drumcell uses this platform to highlight his own needles­in­the­red brand of aggressive, discordant techno. In fact, this summer's Droid Recordings release Cell Injection', with longtime production partner Audio Injection, crystallized this amped up testosterone booster meets Quaalude jack and funk perfectly. In turn, the release
captured the attention of many of the world's top techno jocks in the process - including Speedy J and Richie Hawtin. It's a sound born of musical menace and the kinds of wickedness that only the poisoned airs of LA can conjure. Recently, Drumcell has also had a string of additional successes including remixes of techno legend Chris Leibing on Leibing's own CLR label as well as the seventh anniversary of the now legendary Interface parties These gatherings have brought the best of the old school warehouse vibe together with intense new school multimedia presentations that defy explanation..
Octave
Octave is a Techno producer from France and the owner of "Silent Steps Records". He grew up within a musical atmosphere and had his first experience with turntables in 2003 and thereafter concentrated more and more on a minimal approach to Techno, and started to produce by himself in early 2007. After his first steps into the techno field with some releases in 2007­2008, he was chosen by Richie Hawtin to take part of the "Sounds From Can Elles" project, and saw one of his track released on M_nus by the end of 2008. Early 2009, he started to develop his own Live and to play in some clubs in Europe ­ including Tresor ­ with fantastic reactions to his sets on the dancefloor. Fall 2010, Octave creates his own imprint with the label Silent Steps Records, several
collaborations came out from this project already, with many talented artists from the Techno scene all around the globe like Drumcell, Audio Injection, Perc, Kyle Geiger, Ryuji Takeuchi, Luis Flores and many others. Since 2010/2011, Octave has the chance to play a lot of gigs every months around Europe ­ also in the USA with a tour in April 2012 ­ and sometimes alongside very good artists like Speedy J, Cell Injection or Perc, including in his own label nights. These days Octave continues to develop and is constantly evolving. His music combines a deep­rooted foundation of Techno underlined by stirring basslines and grooves, glitch moments, and hypnotic background atmospheres.

Alias of Audio Injection which focuses more on deep, raw techno ..
Since being introduced to electronic music back in the early 90's, Audio Injection has been hooked. At the early age of 15 he started Djing and playing out at local underground events and raves around the Southern California area. You would find him spinning various styles from house, acid, & techno to hardcore techno. After years of Djing he then decided to learn to produce his own music, which landed him releases on techno labels such as Monoid, Stimulus, & local label Droid Recordings.

Yan Cook
Yan was born in Kiev, Ukraine, 1991. At the young age of sixteen he was introduced to electronic music, more specifically Techno and his love for it was instantaneous! In just one year of dabbling around with software synths and teaching himself production
he had released his first EP on Beatport. Since then he has worked hard in fine tuning his stone cold, hard Techno sound and establishing his brand. Even though he has worked under a few different aliases as well as other production partners, he finally came to the realization that his musical career is a journey he has to pursue and build on his own. For that reason, in 2011 his global fan base saw the end of the Eigenes Rezept' moniker and
solely began producing as Yan Cook'. Besides his obvious talent for music production, Yan has completed some education in the culinary arts, hence the name Yan Cook'! Yan Cook's Techno is definitely a force to be reckoned with on the dance floor and his
signature haunting atmospheres and pounding basslines in his tracks definitely leave a lasting impression with his audience.
You can be sure to hear a lot more of Yan Cook in the coming years...

Following last May's label kick-off in the form of JSSL's 'Fake Facade' EP, FORMAT Records now invites Dutch prodigy Qindek for its sophomore release, which is backed up with an excellent remix by Swedish techno veteran Pär Grindvik. Having already released a slew of high quality cuts in the past few years, Qindek's definitely no stranger to the realms of deep and fiery techno. His delivery for FORMAT Records kicks off with 'Pigeon Dance', an intense and very hypnotic track built around deceivingly playful acid wobbles and a no-nonsense techno groove. Expect things to get nasty on the dancefloor when this one's dropped.
Pär Grindvik's rework of 'Pigeon Dance' is a slightly heavier affair that rips out the acid bassline from the original while taking things to new heights with its merciless big room techno kick.
Closing the EP is 'Everflood', another original Qindek cut that sees the producer popping in a beefy funk-infused bomb, with several layers of bass stabs and percussion bits creating a track that has 'peak-time' written all over it.
With this excellent second release FORMAT Records is set to continue its headstrong view on techno...

Three in a row... Stephen Brown's up for his third Indigo release already. Already in the game for more than 20 years, he always achieves a particular and distinctive sense of grooviness, funk and soul in his music that nobody else ever can. The fact that a lot of DJs still play Stephen's tracks from 20 years ago underline how timeless his music is. Right here Brown delivers an EP that's variously fulsome and funky, skipping yet seriously weighty and tripped out and intergalactic, whilst the Antigone remix is full of nerve jangling texture and drum driven brut force.

For our second release in our catalogue we are proud to present a neoteric collaboration between two artists that have blended their respective musical styles to forge a three track extended play that thoroughly underlines our notion of proposing forward thinking aesthetics On one side we have Wrong Assessment, a young Milanese artist that combines gritty synth lines with rumbling drum patterns, whilst on the other we have M_Rec boss Max_M, a well known and experienced purveyor of the genre that delivers his undeniable touch and contribution to the EP, locking down a solid conception of their take on Techno This three-tracker dictates a path that takes you from the spacey synths you nd on the A side's 'Toe Tag' where the two artists join forces, to the truly captive nature of Max_M's 'Nose Out' all the way to Wrong Assessment's 'Scaphoid' that sums up the three tracks with a dashing rhythm through a percussive use of synthesis.

Having caught the ears of Techno's great and good with their recently released Custom Illusion EP, Manic Brothers return to the Drumcode stable with this two-track release for Drumcode Ltd. Continuing the elegantly industrial aesthetic of the Custom Illusion EP, Komplex comes over dreamlike but purposeful with its linear groove and melodic washes morphing through subtle progressions as the intensity is steadily tweaked upwards. Indigo æra presents the first solo release from Takasi Nakajima known from the duo Different World which he formed together with Claude Young.

Takasi Nakajima has been DJing and producing since 1994 and working as Different World since 2005. The duo was responsible for the track "Think Twice" a much talked about inclusion on Marcel Fengler's Berghain 05 Mix­CD. The track with it's unique classic Detroit feel, eventually got a full vinyl release on Indigo Aera. As live­ and DJ duo Different World, Takasi also released on Kirk Degiorgio's ART label in 2011, has remixed Octave One and has released remixes and originals on Kevin Saunderson's KMS Recordings. Now focussing on solo work after Different World have suspended activity, this new EP finds him in fine form.

'Basicmath One' is seven minutes of delicate ambient, suspending in mid air. 'Basicmath Two' is a deep and supple techno groove with starry night skies unfolding over tom­layered kicks and 'Basicmath Three' then gets more propulsive with its soul infused synths, straight hi­hats and classic Detroit vibes. A remix of it from Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorff layers in a much heavier and more physical kick drum then 'Basicmath Four' drops into a more house leaning groove, but one that is riddled with lush pads, rainy melodies and futuristic atmospheres. Lastly, 'Solar System' is a perfectly spaced out sound world of intergalactic pads and scurrying melodies that is full of alien life but very human emotions. Blissful stuff from start to finish, it proves Takasi Nakajima is as fascinating when solo as he ever is.

Soul Jazz Records launches its new electronic music imprint Sounds of the Universe division with the first of two new albums by Hieroglyphic Being. 
Current Wire magazine front cover artist Hieroglyphic Being's debut album for the new label - The Acid Documents - is an album made up of tracks first released last year only ever available in a bespoke edition of 100 copies - in the form of a homemade CD-R - made exclusively for the Sounds of the Universe record store.
This album is now released officially as a one-off edition of 1000 copies on coloured double vinyl, CD and digital, fully remastered with artwork by Japanese artist 2Yang.
Hieroglyphic Being, aka Jamal Moss - who features on the front cover of Wire magazine's current issue - is a DJ/composer/sound artist who makes pioneering, experimental, boundary-pushing Afro-futurist electronic music. 
Born and based in Chicago, Moss's music embodies two of the cultural foundation blocks of the city's musical lineage: that of Chicago's original Acid House sound (c. 1986), of Frankie Knuckles, Phuture, Marshall Jefferson et al, alongside a rigorous experimental sound searching that taps into the cosmic musical lineage of pioneering artist Sun Ra whose Arkestra landed and was based in the city from 1946-61. 
This association with Sun Ra is by no means hypothetical, having just been in the studio with the Arkestra leader Marshall Allen and a host of free jazz players for the album Hieroglyphic Being & JITU Ahn-Sahm-Buhl's 'We Are Not The First.'
Similarly his relationship to Chicago's original acid house pioneers of the late 80s is no hyperbole. Originally mentored by artist/producers Adonis and Steve Pointdexter, Moss also now runs his own Mathematics label which has released music by foundation acid house pioneers Lil' Louis, Adonis and many others. To quote Moss, 'I am the last of the line of producers directly influenced by Ron Hardy (the pioneering acid house DJ) at the Music Box.'
Moss grew up in the south side of Chicago. After being thrown out of the home of his adoptive parents, he then spent three years homeless living on the streets of Chicago, living a nocturnal existence as a gigolo in Chicago's alternative clubs. He began his career as a DJ at the pioneering Liquid Love parties at Chi-town's legendary Power House (home of Ron Hardy's Music Box) around 1989.
What clearly defines Moss's music is that while sometimes pushing the limits of sound to an ear-splitting dimension of experimentation and DIY-electronics, the music is always clearly a progression of the lineage of black music. In the words of fellow Chicagoans, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, it is simply 'Great Black Music.' And yet in this uniquely defined sound, Moss somehow manages to draw into this world elements of industrial music, German electronic music (Cluster, Harmonia etc), Detroit's sci-fi techno artists (Atkins, Saunderson, Craig) and more.
(The second Hieroglyphic Being album on the new label, under his moniker Africans with Mainframes, will be released on Soul Jazz Records' Sounds of the Universe in January 2016.)

Marco Shuttle releasing his first solo album 'Visione' on his Eerie label. Having since released on Clone, The Bunker and Time To Express, this year has seen Shuttle hard at work at his first entry into the LP format. The resulting album marks a more experimental Marco Shuttle than the one familiar from his singles. 'Visione' is a cohesive and compact work, which draws on Shuttle's design background to unfold an audio narrative with a strong aesthetic approach. With a more abstract sound than his club-focused records, 'Visione' retains a cinematic scope while maintaining a common texture of sound throughout the tracks: the detailed productions were created with mainly analogue equipment with meticulously modulated oscillators, creating tracks that are by turns psychedelic, cosmic and sinister. Opening track The Chaos... And Then... features a guest appearance from Donato Dozzy, with whom Shuttle recently unveiled the collaborative project Anxur, with a separate EP from the duo preceding the album on Eerie. That track aside, this is very much a personal statement from Shuttle who drew inspiration from Krautrock, 70's psychedelic electronica, musique concrete, and norwegian avant garde jazz to mention a few. The release (2 x 12'- 180gms) comes in a lush package/cover design...very collectable indeed!

Randomer returns to L.I.E.S. with his second release for the label, a 5 track maxi-12inch jam packed with mixing tools to rip the floor. Granted these aren't your everyday mixers, Randomer went in and dug up some percussive nastiness and got all dynamic with it, dropping in and dropping out, heavy kicks and bells, these tracks will work the crowd and are suitable for all nite clubs around the globe. Club tested and approved, a classic in the making.

Earlier this year saw the launch of Jimmy Edgar's Fabriclive 79 compilation, and within it oscillated the robotic undertones of Submission - the latest collaborative project between Ultramajic and LA native Truncate (aka Audio Injection). Coupling Truncate's aptitude for mechanical DJ tools and Edgar's chunky synthetic elegance, Ultramajic will showcase the Submission EP on November 13th.

Submission's machine-gun hats, dissected by crunchy thunder claps, lay foundation to the clockwork repetition of an overbearing artificial intelligence. Truncate's rework applies generous reverb for a more dense spatial distribution, whilst Edgar retains the track's original minimalism, sparingly peppering additional synthetic tones over the top. Movement is then created in Kris Wadsworth's rework, infusing textures and synthesis for a more evolving composition.

"Touring intensively for the past couple of years, Syracuse's Antoine and Isabelle finally spent some time in a studio to record new songs as well as ones that were born on the road. Liquid Silver Dream is the result of these studio sessions.

From the opening track, Vapeurs d'Équateur, to the last one, Le Coeur en Naufrage, it seems that the whole album has been recorded in some secret cave under the sea. Maybe the hot and dry weather in Paris by the time of the recording and the fact that the studio was lacking air conditioning can somehow explain the urge to liquidize
every musical element - Isabelle's voice, the instruments - before pouring them into one of the six tracks of the album, turning each tune into a phial of intriguing essences.

Syracuse reminds us with this album that sophistication doesn't mean complexity. LOVE, for example, is a beautiful demonstration of this statement: the song has the genuine simplicity that any love song should have; the only ornament being an elegant opiate dub treatment given by a master of the genre, Iueke.

The first track on the B-side, Floating, allows you to take one last deep breath - somewhere over a still ocean where time has momentarily stopped - before 10 minute-long Liquid Silver Dream, a big acid wave slowly getting at you before wiping you out in a roar of synths and crushed claps. Finally, Le Coeur en Naufrage resonates in
your ears: you are lying on the shore while the sea gently skims your feet."

The Will & Ink label now hits release number 5 with an EP from Malin that features two new cuts and a remix from Yaleesa Hall. Amsterdam and Paris based producer Malin Genie has released some well received house and techno bangers in recent times, and runs his own label Oscillat. With a keen sense of heritage but one eye on the future, here he serves up two more intense and floor focussed cuts. The first is 'Deorbital Descent', a turbo charged and hard hitting techno track with overdriven kicks, big daubs of synthy hook and a real sense of urgency. The claps are hard as you like, and the drums are no less menacing, so think peak time warehouse tackle and you'll not be far wrong. Next up, 'Agaric Fly' is a much more stripped back and down low techno roller with hubby chords, groaning bass and rubbery kicks that seduce and hypnotise. The remix comes from Yaleesa Hall, who has released a solo EP on the label before now. The resulting track is a fulsome, scurrying techno affair with edgy stabs, hurried drums and a real sense of foreboding. Not only recognised as a magnet for the clubbing crowds, he is also credited for championing the sounds of Amsterdam's new school DJ and Producer generation and propelling the scene's visibility into the international club headlights with his six Amsterdam labels, of which he co-owns Intacto Records with Shinedoe.

After Jonas Kopp's well-received debut album 'Beyond the Hypnosis', released on Tresor Records in November 2014, the Argentinian returns to the label with a powerful and club-oriented EP, 'HHH'.

Over the past 10 years Kopp has explored and found himself confortable in many genres of music ranging from housey beats to hypnotic techno. This particular release nds itself comfortably in the middle of a dark and dusty dance oor.

'Khaa' opens the EP with a deep pumping bass as schizophrenic chords intermingle with hi-hats to form a stimulating composition full of energy. Conversely, 'Nahn' unfolds in parallel structure, cheeky yet with a smoother bassline to ease delivery in a more more melodious way.

'Hank' unfurls with a thunderous stomping bass which cracks upon each beat sending you into a frenetic march while sinister atmospheres appear overhead. Gale Talk and Unkle Fon bring us two huge dark techno tracks produced over really deep melodic and groovy elements. These songs generate a massive effect in the dance floor as they are based in very hypnotic sounds which make listeners get into the groove from the very first moment. The music on The Wind Collector/As Witness Our Hands' double cd remaster was recorded between 1989 and 1990: this definitive' edition on compact disc was compiled and sequenced by Alessandro Pizzin, the original studio producer and assistant on keyboards/arrangements. TIP!

Disc 1 contains the complete 8-track master tape including all the unreleased tracks plus 2 trio improvisations. Disc 2 was lovingly compiled by Alessandro from over 5 hours of demos, sessions & rehearsals taken from the original reference cassettes: they're far from perfect but they give a broader perspective of our work. We recorded this music in a basement ( Bunker' studio in Padua, Italy) under ideal conditions, no time or financial restrictions, we were allowed all kinds of facilities including a baby grand piano and excellent recording equipment so we were able to capture on tape ideas in real time. The music reflected our common purpose: mixing songs and harmonies with noises and experiments using both the electronic and the acoustic instruments. Unfortunately we weren't lucky with the distribution and acceptance at the time, but after 25 years it seems that there's an entire new audience for The Wind Collector', perhaps we were unconsciously ahead of our time... like a young DJ recently wrote: these pieces, which were made before the computerization of music, still are beyond the standard of the cold binary track.

Largely sequencer-based composition practices opened up Barera's usual hand-playing approach and allowed him to create rich and melodic, yet precise and powerful techno. "The Opportunist" conjures images of arriving in darkness, taking what you can, and leaving quickly to avoid detection. "Discipline" is Barera's full-on workout, with all the rushes associated, itself very much a product of discipline. "A New Future" suggests an optimistic if uncertain outlook, a world where anything is possible, while "Last Glacial Maximum," which refers to a period in the Earth's history when ice sheets were at their most recent maximum extension, represents a somewhat bleaker view. The musically kindred spirits behind Massachusetts-based Mentha Records are ideal partners in this project, warmly embracing Barera's wide-eyed techno concepts.
