Gladio Operations launches its twelfth release, where the Spanish label returns to the various artists format.
Opening the pack is producer and Distrito 91 label owner Fabio Vinuesa. Under his newly created alias Protocolo Sysex, he gives us “NottheFuture,” a powerful track with raw bass lines — a benchmark for the dancefloor.

On the same side, we encounter Sinitsin. The Russian artist, who debuts on the label, leaves his mark with “Thinking Machine”. A track that reveals his enthusiasm for charismatic and effective melodies, very well sequenced throughout the track.
The B-side opens up by an acquaintance of the label, Jauzas the Shining. This time he is accompanied by Foreign Sequence, and together they have created “Enter the Body”. A track of dark aesthetics, served with dramatic vocals, very characteristic of the Frenchman who, of course, never disappoints. Another artist making his debut is Italian producer Teslasonic.
This fast-paced track titled “Chubby Bee” reveals a minimalist bass line, with subtle and delicate touches of the 303.
The EP is brought to a close by another Gladio acquaintance. Igors Vorobjovs returns with this track titled “For One”.

Orientated towards IDM sounds, the Latvian producer once again envelops us with a passage of deep and mysterious harmonies, which undoubtedly makes it a timeless piece.

Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain is the third studio album from the enchanting songstress, Raveena. Blending powerful storytelling with early 2000s pop, Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain sees music continuing to play the central role as both a catalyst and medium in her personal and creative growth. Am 6. Juni veröffentlichen Lifeguard aus Chicago ihr Debütalbum "Ripped and Torn" auf Matador Records. Das junge Trio, bestehend aus Asher Case (Bass, Baritongitarre, Gesang), Isaac Lowenstein (Schlagzeug, Synthesizer) und Kai Slater (Gitarre, Gesang), macht seit seiner Highschool-Zeit zusammen Musik, also fast ein Viertel ihres Lebens. Laut und direkt, kryptisch, aber mit Herz, lassen sie sich in ihren Songs von Punk, Dub, Power-Pop und experimentellen Klängen inspirieren und bringen alles in einem explosiven Sound of Now zusammen Das Album, das letztes Jahr in Chicago mit dem Produzenten Randy Randall (No Age) aufgenommen wurde, fängt eine klaustrophobische Verschrobenheit ein, die das Gefühl und die Energie von Hauspartys und dicht gedrängten Räumen heraufbeschwört, wo die Ohren leicht überwältigt werden und zerlumpte Improvisationen sich mit der gleichen Kraft verbinden wie melodische Hooks. "Layers of Afternoon" soll eine bestimmte Zeiterfahrung widerspiegeln - etwas Greifbares und zugleich Unbestimmtes, das gefühlt, aber nicht leicht beschrieben werden kann. Diese Momente tauchen oft in Mustern auf, manchmal mal kurz, mal lang anhaltend, aber immer prägend. Wir erkennen ihre Einzigartigkeit, und doch sehnt sich etwas Unbewusstes in uns danach, diese Muster zu erkennen und ihnen zu frönen. Vielleicht vermeiden wir es, über sie zu sprechen, weil wir befürchten, dass sie banal oder belanglos klingen, doch sie kehren oft in unsere Erinnerungen zurück und bieten uns kollektiven Trost. Für Keith Kenniff alias Goldmund kann die Sprache diese Erfahrungen kaum vermitteln; nur Kunst und Musik scheinen das, was sie besonders macht, am ehesten einzufangen. Kenniff erklärt: ,Mein Ziel für die Musik in Layers of Afternoon war es, diesen Zwischenraum zu finden und von dort aus zu schreiben, in der Hoffnung, meine Erfahrung der Welt als ideal zu vermitteln - frei von Zielen, musikalischer Ausbildung oder emotionaler Komplexität. OSTRANENIE is a collection of digitally manipulated, impressionistic piano miniatures — each named after blockbuster films and TV series. Improvised late at night as a reaction against passive media consumption, these pieces function as both homage and critique, navigating the space between classical impressionism and contemporary digital manipulation. They don’t just deconstruct traditional piano expression; they interrogate the emotional stakes of sound in an era where immersion culture flattens meaning and algorithmic logic erodes agency.

The album’s title references the Russian formalist Viktor Shklovsky’s concept of “ostranenie” (ɐstrɐˈnjenjɪj, estrangement/defamiliarization), a term he introduced in the early 1920s to describe art’s role in resisting the indifference of habitual perception.

Shklovsky saw art as a way to break through the anesthetizing effects of routine, stripping away the layers of habit that dull our senses. By making the familiar strange, art reclaims perception from the mechanical and the automatic. His argument wasn’t just a theoretical exercise — it was a response to a world rapidly consumed by industrialization, war machines, and the alienation of a technologically dominated modern life. In this context, he positioned artistic technique as something autonomous, distinct from mere social criticism or psychological reflection. Art seeks to remove “...the crust that the world of things deposits on our senses, with routine’s unending murder of the real.” Ben Ehrenreich on Serena Vitale’s Making Strange (The Nation, 2013)

This tension—between revolutionary/artistic and industrial technologies—defined the 20th century, and it continues to resonate today. The mechanization and automation that fueled the First World War’s devastation, alongside the social and economic turbulence of the 1920s, became central to the era’s self-conception. But just as technology was a source of alienation, it was also positioned as an agent of radical change. As the shock of modernity disrupted the human condition, it also became the driving force behind an ideological utopia — one that ultimately deformed into political totalitarianism — a paradox that remains unresolved.

OSTRANENIE plays within this contradiction. The music shifts seamlessly between an uncanny black MIDI dismantling of traditional piano virtuosity and moments of raw, fragile intimacy. The result is a work that resists automatic anonymity while questioning what it means to create in an era where the technological mediation of sound — and experience itself — is unavoidable: Art in the age of its technological constructedness.

Martha Argerich - eine Legende am Klavier
Der Begriff „lebende Legende“ trifft auf Martha Argerich zu, deren schillernde Mischung aus Virtuosität, Einfühlungsvermögen, Eklektizismus, Großzügigkeit und faszinierender Aura sie zu einer Pianistin von unvergleichlicher Faszination macht. Die in Argentinien 1941 geborene und in Wien ausgebildete Pianistin, die 1965 den Chopin-Wettbewerb gewann, ist zu einer manchmal schwerfassbaren Figur geworden, deren Auftritte und Aufnahmen mit Spannung erwartet werden. Martha Argerich ist zudem eine großzügige Mentorin für junge Künstler, insbesondere durch ihr ehemaliges Progetto Martha Argerich beim Lugano Festival in der Schweiz. Nun erscheint eine Auswahl ihrer berühmten Solo-Klavier- und Kammermusikaufnahmen auf Vinyl.

B.o.B präsentiert: The Adventures of Bobby Ray ist das Debütalbum von B.o.B, das ursprünglich am 27. April 2010 veröffentlicht wurde. Die Produktion für das Album erstreckte sich von 2008 bis 2010 und wurde von einem talentierten Team übernommen, darunter B.o.B selbst, Crada, Dr. Luke, The Smeezingtons, Jim Jonsin, Lil' C, Alex da Kid, Polow da Don und DJ Frank E. Diese erstmalige Vinyl-Veröffentlichung als 2-LP enthält nicht nur die mit RIAA Diamant ausgezeichnete Single Airplanes mit Haley Williams von Paramore, sondern auch Gastbeiträge von Bruno Mars in Nothing On You und Janelle Monae in Ghost In The Machine.

Was wäre, wenn wir beide nur einen Tag lang Tauben sein könnten? Manchmal kann ein Moment in der Zeit eine so große Bedeutung erlangen, dass er zu einer endlosen Welt für sich wird und alles außerhalb dieses Moments, vergangene und zukünftige Zeitpunkte, zur Folklore dieser Welt werden. Was wäre, wenn wir beide die Királyi Palota überfliegen und sie so sehen könnten wie diese Tauben? Eine schöne Kultur von ungleichen Winkeln als Eselsengel über dieser Stadt. Aber auch in der Welt des unendlichen Augenblicks können wir uns die Feder unseres Vogels nicht aussuchen, und die Taube mag sich danach sehnen, die Gans zu sein, der Esel die Taube und so weiter. Und während unsere Welt aus diesem einen Tick in der Zeit erblüht, ist sie für die eine Taube eine wirbelnde romantische Flut euphorischer Möglichkeiten und Faszination, für die andere ein minderwertiges Leben, in dem sie auf jeden vom Himmel aus scheißt, unbeholfen und beschämt, und sich damit abfindet, die elende Plage zu sein, als die sie von denen, auf die sie scheißen, dargestellt wird. So schnell wie unsere Welt blüht, so schnell ist sie auch wieder im Unfrieden und unsere Tauben sind verwundet, und wenn unsere Welt stirbt, sterben auch wir, und wir sind ausgestorben. Wenn wir uns doch nur immer wieder umbringen könnten, bis wir es richtig machen. So wie ein ganzes Musikgenre aus einem einzigen beschleunigten Zehn-Sekunden-Breakbeat geboren werden kann, so kann ein komplettes Symphonieorchester in harmonischem Einklang zusammenkommen, um diesen perfekten Moment in der Zeit zu erschaffen, so kann jeder Moment eine völlig neue Welt hervorbringen, und jede Welt kann den perfekten Moment beherbergen, und so wie dieser Breakbeat bis zur Unkenntlichkeit gebrochen werden kann, so kann sich das Orchester zusammenschließen, um ein dissonantes Sperrfeuer kolossalen Kummers hervorzubringen, und so löst der Moment seine Welt auf, und diese Welt erstickt den Moment unter ihrem Zusammenbruch.

U.K. progressive post-rock supergroup Crippled Black Phoenix is a musical collective that has featured nearly 30 members in it's rotating roster. The constant driving force is multi- instrumentalist Justin Greaves (Electric Wizard, Iron Monkey Se Delan), who formed the band in 2004 with Mogwai bassist Dominic Aitchison. Creating what they describe as "endtime ballads" to signify both the slightly macabre nature of their songs & the unusual blend of styles as the final evolution in music. The band have made live shows a focus by performing in unusual venues across the world as well as using Victorian-era instruments in tandem with more modern instruments, often involving more than a dozen members onstage. In 2006, Crippled Black Phoenix released their first album, 'A Love Of Shared Disasters', followed in 2009 by 'The Resurrectionists' & 'Night Raider', but it was their fourth album released in 2010 on Invada Records - 'I, Vigilante' - an album of uncompromising soundscapes that garnered the band & album widespread critical acclaim within the media worldwide. On 'I, Vigilante', CBP create songs that feel both sky-crackingly epic & intimate at the same time. "We Forgotten Who We Are" is an 11 minute thundering storm which powers through sections of head-nodding chugging guitars to a sunrise of happy melody & back, "Fantastic Justice" is a staggering display of songwriting, with twists & turns that make the band sound like a mini orchestra - horns, strings, crashes & swoons with Greaves the dark conductor. The spoken-word opening to "Bastogne Blues" is perfectly evocative for a genuinely troubled song, CBP's command of bleakness is at it's strongest here; cinematic doesn't come close to describing the song's emotional resonance. Die Leute machen heute dasselbe durch wie damals. Liebeskummer ist Liebeskummer, und Liebe ist Liebe. Wir sind alle Menschen, und darum geht es in den meisten meiner Songs“.

Sechs ins Ohr gehende Songs erscheinen jetzt beim berühmten Label von Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong und Blossom Dearie. Ein Kreis schließt sich und für den jungen aron! beginnt eine vielversprechende Musikkarriere.

Andrew Hill - Andrew!!!
Der Pianist und Komponist Andrew Hill stürmte die Jazzszene mit einem Ausbruch an Kreativität. In nur acht Monaten, zwischen November 1963 und Juni 1964, nahm er für Blue Note fünf bemerkenswerte Alben in unterschiedlichen Besetzungen (vom Trio bis zum Sextett) und mit durchweg eigenen Kompositionen auf. Das letzte dieser Alben war “Andrew!!!”, über das AllMusic schrieb: “Die Musik hat oft eine schwebende, hypnotische Qualität, die Hills Dissonanzen, ungewöhnliche Voicings und komplexe Arrangements noch fesselnder macht als sonst.”

Howdy punkè rocke fans, welcome to FORCED COMMUNAL EXISTENCE - the wonderful and frightening world of ALIEN NOSEJOB’s EP’s & singles. Anti Fade and Agitated Records are teaming together to bring you a paint stripping, mind altering, rare collection of EP and compilation tracks recorded in various Australian bedrooms and garages between 2017 and 2022. The sound of goofy obnoxiousness will soon be permeating your bedroom airwaves and perforating your eardrums. Kicking off this long player is an EP that was recorded by Billy from Anti Fade in his childhood bedroom in July 2017. The songs came to fruition while AUSMUTEANTS were on tour in Japan 2016.

There was a lot of ‘WALLABY BEAT’ / ‘MURDER PUNK’ being played in the background while seeing the sites of Mount Fuji and ‘Bar Fuck Yeah’. In between shows Jake was organising the release of DANNY GRAHAM and PLASTIC AND THE EP’S records on the label he co-ran XEROX MUSIC. Both artists played parts in the sound and ethos of the PANEL BEAT EP. The goal was to make the songs sound unapologetically Australian without pretending to be something they’re not. There’s no fake accents or songs about VB and mullets. Instead, there’s songs about every day struggles, like dealing with fickle fashion followers, having too many fucking records, playing PlayStation, resentment and manipulation.

500 copies were pressed and self released, with a photo slipped inside each copy at random. Next is THE DEATH OF THE VINYL BOOM which was self recorded in a shed in November 2017. This is the only Alien Nosejob release (besides this comp, smartarse) to feature a cover - Flyblown by Adelaidean arty weirdo band JACKSON ZUMDISH. The idea behind this EP was to incorporate the simplicity and scrappiness of the late 70’s DIY Australian sound, but give them the complicated structures of prog songs. Scum stats - 500 copies, self released. Several copies were smeared with Jake’s blood and had smashed pieces of vinyl glued to the front cover.

Now we have a cover of the DEAD KENNEDYS. The conspiracy theorist wet dream Government Flu. Recorded September 2020 during lockdown in one-man-band with a tape recorder fashion for a 20 minute unedited ‘live set’ video where all instruments were played one by one, sung and mixed in the space of a couple of hours. The HC45 7” was recorded at the same time as a disco 12” maxi, which I hear were originally meant to come out on the same day. Shit happens I guess? This EP came out in Feb 2020 and sounds somewhere between early GANG GREEN, DIE KREUZEN and the BEASTIE BOYS old bullshit. Self recorded on a 4 track with a broken pinch roller. Lyrically this thing is cynical and choc-a-bloc full of satire and hate. A year later a sequel was recorded the same way, on the same machine.

No fucking disco this time though. Cold Bare Facts is the most recent recording on this comp. Self recorded in Jake‘s bedroom 2022 It has the same mid paced tempo as DYS or SSD when they’re at their slowest (pre-Boston Curse, of course!). Both songs take a stinky shit on the Australian state police. 300 copies. Finishing the record is a cover by THE AINTS. Originally written by ED KUEPPER for THE SAINTS Eternally Yours album, but it sounded too similar to Lost and Found. Originally released on ‘ALTA’ cassette compilation during the lockdown.
