In der Rock-Mythologie traf Robert Johnson 1930 an einer Kreuzung auf den Teufel und begründete damit den Rock'n'Roll. Fast hundert Jahre später, im Mai 2024, steht Dirty Sound Magnet vor seinem eigenen Schicksal, als es an der Zeit ist, ein neues Album aufzunehmen.Zum ersten Mal in ihrer Geschichte hat das Trio nicht den Luxus, jeden Schritt des Aufnahmeprozesses sorgfältig zu planen. Seit 2022, nach der Veröffentlichung ihres vielgelobten Albums DSM-III, spielt die Band 120 Konzerte pro Jahr und managt alle Aspekte ihrer Karriere selbst. Daher ist es 2024 für das Trio die einzige Möglichkeit, ein neues Album zu produzieren und aufzunehmen, indem es seinem Instinkt folgt. Me and My Shadow ist das Album, zu dessen Entstehung die Band bestimmt war - ein Album, auf dem alles auf elegante Weise zusammenkommt.Wie immer in der Rockgeschichte war die Tragödie nie weit entfernt, und das Album wäre beinahe nicht entstanden. Zwei Wochen vorden ersten Aufnahmesessions entgeht Stavros nur knapp dem Tod durch eine versehentliche Vergiftung. Auf einem Krankenhausbett, halb bewusstlos und umgeben von aufgeregten Ärzten, tauchen die Themen des Albums in seinem Unterbewusstsein auf. Inmitten des Geflüsters der besorgten Ärzte, die um sein Leben fürchteten, wuchs in ihm die Gewissheit und Klarheit: ,Das kann unmöglich das Ende sein - wir müssen noch ein Album aufnehmen." Dieses Licht, das ihn aus den Schatten zurückholte, ist dasselbe Licht, das vor hundert Jahren Robert Johnson und seitdem unzählige Musiker inspiriert hat.

Reissue of Monster Magnet’s Cobras & Fire

The original line up of Monster Magnet are pleased to announce a new album 'Test Patterns: Vol. 1' on God Unknown Records. It will be on 180gm black vinyl and housed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve, with acid blotter insert. The track Tab was originally released back in 1991. This is a 2021 mix of the original track and the never before released 1988 demo version, with both tracks being over 24 minutes each. It's viewed as an influential track with psychedelic / heavy psych / space rock and stoner rock fans and will sit nicely alongside Sleep's 'Dopesmoker'. Julian Cope described the original release as distilling Hawkwind, Sabbath and The Stooges into a lysergic soup of brown acid and bathtub meth, and ultimately cultivating a “Altamont vibe”; that is, the negative end of the psychedelic spectrum. 2004 saw the release of Monster Magnet’s sixth studio album Monolithic Baby, the follow-up to 2000’s “God Says No”, which cemented the Red Bank, NJ rockers in the world of space rock and roll. This 14-track journey of masterful hard rock features 11 ripping originals and three cover songs recorded in true classic Magnet style, including covers of The Velvet Underground, David Gilmour and Robert Calvert. Monolithic Baby is being reissued on August 19th via Napalm Records on orange vinyl with white and black splatter, as well as in a limited glow in the dark vinyl variant! Auf "Body Prophecy" verschweißt Mastermind James Hammontree die frenetische Vitalität von Post-Punk und Energie des Metals mit treibenden synthetischen Club-Beats, maschineller Gewalttätigkeit und verführerisch starken melodischen Impulsen. Tracks wie "Floating in Nothing" und "Violent Mechanix" bieten sowohl intensiv eingängige Hooks als auch hämmernden, brutalen Lärm. "Sold Me Sad" ist ein leises, gestörtes Wiegenlied mit atmosphärischer Wendung. Das pulsierende, drogengeschwängerte "Incubate" im Manson/Reznor-Stil wird am Ende des Albums von Szene-Legende Justin K. Broadrick (Godflesh, Zonal, etc.) in einem komplett neu interpretierten und erweiterten Club-Remix präsentiert.

The Distillers are excited to announce that the physical version of their 2018 single "Man vs. Magnet" b/w "Blood In Gutters" will be released on February 14, 2019 via Third Man Records. This vinyl 7', pressed at Third Man Pressing in Detroit, is the first chance to own new music from The Distillers in over 15 years.
To call The Distillers simply a punk band doesn't do justice to either the band or the word "punk'. Guitarist, lyricist, and vocalist Brody Dalle, uses her medium as a platform for a higher plane of visceral lyricism and independence. Few modern day punk icons have not only embodied the genre so truthfully but also transformed the depth of what it can mean so thoroughly. Originally formed in 1998 in Los Angeles, the energetic band, with Dalle at the helm, released a string of damaged and powerful albums, EPs and singles with California punk labels Epitaph and Hellcat, then released their third masterpiece of an album, Coral Fang, on Sire before going on an untimely hiatus and ultimately splitting in 2006. After breaking a 12-year silence on social media late last year, these two new tracks from the group are a triumphant return for their rabid and devoted fanbase.
'Man vs. Magnet' kicks off with crashing drums, thumping bass and melodious guitar, before transforming into a rough-and-ready punk anthem. The b-side 'Blood in Gutters' is full of a wistful, wild energy from start to finish, with Dalle's raw vocals gleaming as the chorus hits. Third Man is honored to be a part of The Distillers' continuing legacy by releasing the physical version of this single.
