La Peste war Bostons erste echte Punkband und hat die Lücke zwischen der einflussreichen Proto-Punk-Szene der Stadt in den 1970er Jahren und dem College-Rock und Hardcore-Punk der 1980er und 1990er Jahre gefüllt. Diese Sammlung will die ganze Geschichte von La Peste erzählen und zeigt die unveröffentlichten Studio- und Loft-Aufnahmen der Band zusammen mit den beiden offiziell veröffentlichten Tracks. Diese Tracks stammen aus der Studio-Session, aus der die 7"-Single ,Better Off Dead" (die einzige offizielle Aufnahme der Band) hervorging, aus ihrer Session mit Ric Ocasek von The Cars aus dem Jahr 1978, aus einer Session in den Electro Acoustic Studios aus dem Jahr 1978 und aus 4-Spur-Loft-Aufnahmen, die 1977 von den Bostoner Punks Billy Dafodil und Dave Cola gemacht wurden. ,Wenn du dir ,I Don't Know Right From Wrong" anhörst, wage ich zu behaupten, dass du nicht mehr aufhören kannst, sobald du angefangen hast - stell dir vor, diese Songs wären verfügbar gewesen, als La Peste sie aufgenommen hat. This is not the first release of Sickfest, and we could already appreciate his talent as a producer in other music styles on vinyl and netlabels, but this is his first venture in the realm of hardcore-techno, and he turned to mars assault for that: here we have two uncompromising fast hardcore-techno tracks that shows how well Sickfest understands and masters this style, with a very accurate studio production brought to light by another great cut at the legendary dK mastering studio. After Rhose & Bloodhole last year, Mars Assault Limited is definitely back and Sickfest do not disappoint !
The third track is from Sh6b6r6, a collaboration between Sickfest and his mate Havuza, resulting in some kind of downtempo electronic metal/breakcore, allowing us to take a breath after/between all these uptempo tracks. Cut in 33/45rpm for optimal sound quality, 300 copies limited, full size UV print on the flip side.

What happens when Bristol's noisiest export BENZO QUEEN decides to fight themselves? You get this split record - a double-headed beast of post-hardcore fury and experimental noise. Side A delivers "NO GODS NO MASTERS NO SLEEVES" - BENZO QUEEN's sophomore album captured raw and bleeding after months of destroying stages with Mclusky and Whores. Twelve tracks of controlled chaos recorded live on New Year's Eve in Bristol - because why not start the year by breaking something? Side B introduces BENZO AND THE QUEENS - this iteration emerged like a bad rash at Bristol's annual Dean Lane Hardcore Funday. Nobody asked for more, so naturally they recorded an EP. Within Tiga’s stripped-down electronic funk and Hudson Mohawke’s grandiose beats exists a common thread; an idea Tiga expresses as “hardcore romance”. Recorded in Los Angeles over the last few years, these commonalities ebbed and flowed through various recordings, culminating in their debut album - L’Ecstasy. Turbo revisits the album with a set of club-driven remixes, bringing together Keinemusik’s Reznik, Montreal masters Priori & Patrick Holland as Jump Source, and Berghain stalwart Quelza. Pressed loud on a stunning 12” picture disc, featuring imagery from none-other-than Wolfgang Tillmans.

Especial welcomes new artist DJ 1985 to the label. As so often, the idea of pushing new music has been the raison d'etre of the past decade. An EP of a love for Acid, from the breaks anthem of the title We Trippin’ to exploring the ethereal and even mind-melting Ambient House and Balearic of how the Roland TB-303 has become a fundamental element in the history of electronic music.

Soviet born; Belgrade exile Stanislav Grishchuk is DJ 1985. A man of many monikers, came to House later, originally progressing from Breaks, Hardcore and onto Drum and Bass as DJ Saint Man, a Mixmaster in the truest sense, switching it up to include Ghetto House and Booty, DJing led to producing, finally seeing DJ 1985 emerged to encompass Acid, Bleep, Breakbeat, Chicago and beyond.

A DJ supreme from the old school – check his Boiler Room mix for live vinyl dexterity – his productions nod to Aphex Twin and the Rephlex / UK lineage, the Techno. Electro of masters Underground Resistance and Drexciya and on to Italo, Italian House and early 90s New Jersey and New York’s golden period and of course the masters Kraftwerk, all influence the sounds of this debut EP.

Starting as 808 and 909 Electro and Techno jams, all the tracks are recorded live, MPC, synth and drum machines, no computers involved. We Trippin’ is built around the “Think” break, with trippy 303 line, some 808, synths and off we go “we trippin”.

Dolphin and Sirens was inspired by the Boka Bay dolphins of Montenegro, near where the recording was made. A flotation bath of warm dreamy acid beats and aquatic found sound, fast, shifting breaks, the Adriatic Sea of Croatia and beyond beckoning.

Catland’s title is a nod to Stanislav’s love of all the feline, but the breaks’n’303 cut is an endlessly uplifting spark, celestial, a cosmic evolutionary odyssey.

DJ 1985 completes his debut EP with the aptly titled The Last One. Spherular, mysterious, this rise of spatial breaks is a reawakening of symbolic music that is touched by both East and West. Stanislav’s music intersects, trans-national, almost spiritual and psychedelic. Live jamming, more hearted, the snap electro percussion, dream-laden pads are twinned with an ethereal otherness via the endless possibilities of the TB-303.

Kick starting 2024 with intent, Berlin’s Pure Hate Trax starts the year in style with a pure power 4 track EP by Tripped. Hailing from Belgium, Francis Jaques started his journey at the tender age of 15 and quickly become A key figure in the underground rave & hardcore scene and up to now has celebrated over two decades of relentless dedication to the industry. While deeply rooted in Hardcore Techno, Tripped style is not limited to a certain genre. Always staying true to his gut, he keeps innovating his sound by using both analog and digital techniques, often with a wink to the pure and raw sound of the 90’s, dark, moody and kick-drum heavy. His label Madback Records, an outlet for his own productions has also seen contributions from the likes of Slave To Society, The Outside Agency, KRTM, Waldhaus, Mickey Nox and Umwelt. ISLAND APES is a British band, formed in the East Midlands around 2018. The current line-up consists of ex members of Bivouac, Force Fed and Fudge Tunnel; guitarist/producer Dean Selby, drummer Antronhy, vocalist MKJ and bassist David Ryley. Their roots lie in anxiety, ritual and underlying melody. Call it what you like. Answers on a postcard to God Unknown. So the Germans call English football fans Island Apes? I guess they don’t know about the punk band of the same name. ISLAND APES features a lineup of UK underground punk legends. Antronhy, the drummer, was Nirvana’s infamous dancer at their Live at Reading performance. David Riley was the bass player in the legendary UK noise rock band Fudge Tunnel and current bass player in doom masters Conan. MKJ was in Forcefed and Meatfly; two early 90's influential UK hardcore bands. They have paid their dues and have produced a wild, lo-fi trip into an alternate punk universe where they tame audio chaos and explore the psychedelic side of consciousness. It’s grungy and grimy, guttural and grating, and even dubby, all in the most beautiful way. Their debut self-titled record is available on limited vinyl copies via God Unknown Records. To keep it punk the album will be released on vinyl only. Limited to 300 copies.
