Mid Price Campaign! This is the ultimate mini-album that can proudly be called LIP CREAM! “9 SHOCKS TERROR” has remained timeless since its original release in 1986, embodying incomparable speed and a level of perfection that defines Japanese hardcore. Opening with ‘TERROR,’ which goes straight into reverse audio and needle skips, the song structure charges forward relentlessly, shaking off the catchy, humorous, and approachable vibe that had previously defined LIP CREAM. Naoki's noisy yet melodic guitar, Pill's wild drums, Minoru's heavy yet high-speed bass, and JhaJha's intense shouts that still allow the lyrics to be clearly heard—all these elements fuse together to create powerful tracks that have reached an unprecedented sound. Recorded at Shinjuku JAM Studio, ‘9 SHOCKS TERROR’ was composed primarily by Minoru and Naoki, with lyrics and artwork by JhaJha. JhaJha's hand-drawn jacket illustration was a parody of THE FUZZTONES' album “Cinderella”. Additionally, an English translation of the lyrics is included for this RELAPSE release, helping English-speaking listeners understand the unique world of LIP CREAM. Interestingly, the title “9 SHOCKS TERROR” was revised to “9 SHOCKING TERROR” on the 2007 CD reissue by ONI Label. This revision was made after illustrator PUSHEAD, who has a long-standing relationship with LIP CREAM, pointed out a grammar error. However, the original title has been restored out of respect for the original work for this RELAPSE reissue. Following the release of this album, LIP CREAM launched their self-managed national tour “BLOODY SUMMER TOUR,” and fans who bought the album rushed to the gig. Additionally, during a show at Doshisha University in Kansai in the autumn of the same year, torches were brought onto the stage and Jha Jha set them ablaze, causing absolute chaos (footage of this incident can be viewed in the video “LIP CREAM ONLY”).

It’s the first long play, and the third major release from this melodramatic astronaut. The album captures fragments of bitter sweet memories - unrelated separately, but tells a story of one’s search for comfort in solitude when put together.

Composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist Yoshiharu Takeda's long-awaited first album, released in 2018, is now available as a Cassette Tape.
He plays various instruments himself, including piano, clarinet, pedal steel guitar, and percussion.

A Larum, the debut album by singer and actor Johnny Flynn, was recorded in Seattle and is one of those rare albums that immediately creates its own world - Originally released on Vertigo Records in May 2008, this re-issue faithfully replicates the original 2LP release's pop up gatefold sleeve and is pressed on 180g vinyl Backed by his band The Sussex Wit, the album's songs were likened to the work of Fairport Convention and Bert Jansch by Rolling Stone.

Flynn has been described as "a musical prodigy turned Shakespearean actor, with the soul of a poet," and his songs offer a sweet gentility in an increasingly loud time. Close mic'ed and intimate, Flynn cast his eye over romance, religion and celebrity. A Larum became something of a beacon for the burgeoning folk scene at the time, with fellow travellers such as Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling and Noah and the Whale. Since A Larum, Flynn has carved out a singular path as both a critically acclaimed musician and award- winning actor. He has released a string of celebrated albums including Been Listening, Country Mile, and Sillion, continually evolving his sound while maintaining his signature storytelling. As an actor, he's earned accolades for roles on stage and screen, notably portraying David Bowie in Stardust and starring in films like Emma (2020) and Netflix's The Dig. He also composed and performed the beloved theme song for the BAFTA-winning series Detectorists, where his evocative music became inseparable from the show's gentle, melancholic charm. ...

The second release on Samurai Music sub label Saibai welcomes Italian sound-world-builder Pianeti Sintetici for a richly rendered foray into dynamic electronica that moves like a set of vibrant ecosystems.

Davide Perrone has developed his Pianeti Sintetici ('synthetic planets') alias to explore the idea of creating imaginary worlds through teeming, densely layered arrangements of modulating synthesis. He's previously delivered spellbinding albums and EPs to respected labels like Astral Industries and Hypnus. On SAIBAI2, Perrone ably blurs the lines between percussive, textural and melodic parts, letting voices bend and warp as each sound evolves through the labyrinthe lattice of his constructions. This is electronic music so dynamic and ever-shifting, it sounds positively sentient, and yet there's a strong emotional sentiment that binds these fantastic visions together as sincere expressions from a grounded, human perspective.

This is the first new Andy Boay album since 2013’s In The Light. I recorded it in January 2024 to a Yamaha MT8X 8-track cassette recorder in my room at the New York Center for Creativity & Dance in the East Village of Manhattan.

I mixed it in June 2024 with Joe Santarpia and Roberto Pagano at the Idiot Room in San Francisco. The three songs on Side A (“HBM,” “If I Ever Come Off,” and “You’re In The Air Now”) were initially arranged over several live performances using a multi-track looper. When I then sat down to track them to my tape machine, I meticulously sang and played out all repeating parts, layering and ping-pong-bouncing each doubled take to another tape-track. In this way I hoped to maintain the hypnotic quality of the looped parts while keeping them organic, singular, and fleeting. Side B is a triptych of more carefully arranged pop songs: a tremolo & mod-delay elegy to youth called “Careless,” bookended by two variations on the same theme — the stark, mellotron prayer of “One & One” and the lonesome after-hours funk of “I Want More”. The line “You took that walk for the two of us” has a dual meaning. In 2011, my friend Spencer Gilley took a long walk through Montreal while listening to demos I’d recorded.

He described the experience to me as magical, ecstatic, inspiring. His encouragement from that moment still echoes every time I sit down to write or record. Less than a year later, I met Florida musician Thomas Fekete. We formed a deep, brief friendship that lasted until his death in 2016. Thom entered my life during a chaotic time and helped me find direction and courage. He took me on a tour that shifted the course of my life. We bonded over surviving cancer as young men, Florida’s noise scene, and the strange lives we led as touring guitarists (he in Surfer Blood, me in Mac DeMarco’s band). Thom could always warmly anticipate all of my joy, humor, and curiosity—and all of my pain, anxiety, and fear. In this way, it felt like he was also taking that walk for the two of us—gently guiding me down a path he had already traveled. Andy Boay (Andy White) began playing and recording music as a teen in Orlando during the early 2000s, exploring noise, psych, and pop in bands and solo projects.

He has played in the duo Tonstartssbandht with his brother Edwin since 2007. He spent six years playing guitar in the touring band for Mac DeMarco. Andy Boay’s music taps the euphoric and the sorrowful, both onstage amongst friends and strangers, and tracking alone at his 8-track in the studio. These days he lives and works in the East Village neighborhood of New York City.

French techno pillars Scan X & Electric Rescue deliver a masterclass in elegant machine soul on Lost In Time. When Manu Le Malin teams up with Kmyle, the result is as sharp as it is cinematic: Little Big Man pulses with dramatic tension, balancing raw emotion and restrained fury. Elsewhere, Oniris & Benjamin Rippert reconnect with the melodic techno spirit of the label’s early days on Sonate, guided by a craftsman’s sense of harmony.
For the machine lovers, Legowelt & Cuften resurrect the spirit of early electroclash on Liar, a carnal fusion of analog synths and DIY attitude. And for the diehard dancefloor devotees, KiNK finally releases a cult track from his live sets: Give Me, a breakbeat-meets-vintage-house stormer tailor-made for those late-night sweats.

This anniversary compilation reaffirms the label’s openness to new generations and hybrid sounds, while paying tribute to the techno roots that shaped its foundation. Like the festival itself, it embodies sincerity and collective energy — a small manifesto linking generations, aesthetics, and territories, celebrating roots without nostalgia and the future without bending to trends.

At last, we get doused from the source; four priors of reissued gems and newer beauts now land us at the quintus maximus: the inaugural Spray on Spray. It’s large and in charge, as we pull back the velvety curtain to reaffirm the exquisite curator is just-as-exquisite a melody maker. OT Rails adjusts the prog antenna to broadcast 3 anthems from the great big dance satellite in the sky, including a collaboration with French cuties Baraka. You’ve had your trad, now dance!

The title track struts along its psychedelic catwalk with a sexy house swagger, unlocking a wobbly stack of pineal-tickling melodies en route. The angels soon sing in positiva harmony, before the piano-lude calls for a tight embrace with those closest to you on the dancefloor. Raise those hands aloft, you know what’s coming; that hard house’d snare roll soon erupts and, before you know it, you’re soaring like the white dove you are. Why does it feel so good?

Spray then switches channel to Ceathair, coaxing the prog spirit from the motherland as the psilocybinised breaks wisp through the undergrowth. The vibe is bouncy, as the diva croons and bassline sings, before the vista opens and the sprayed piper summons you home. Open that third eye, súil eile.
Our swan song is reserved for Baraka and Spray, conjoining their tech trance powers on Think Of Me. The trio up the pace for the grand finale, rolling the tight groove from the off while igniting its hybridised trance rump with hypnotic fervour. The friendly mantra floats heavenly above throughout, absorbing you in a semi-lucid ecstatic state. It’s a whirlwind of dancefloor energy from beginning to end, and Spray wouldn’t have it any other way.

Nach Norden ausgerichtet, europäisch, offen, persönlich und melancholisch - das sind alles Begriffe, die sich mit Kari Bremnes" Musik verbinden lassen. Und immer mit einer großen Nähe zu den Menschen und ihren Schicksalen. Die vielfach preisgekrönte Singer-Songwriterin, für die einzelne Genre-Schubladen immer zu eng waren und sind, schreibt seit fast vierzig Jahren Songs, die auf neunzehn Soloalben veröffentlicht sind. Derzeit hat sie ein größeres Publikum als je zuvor, in ihrem Heimatland und weit darüber hinaus. "Immer noch hier" bedeutet der norwegische Albumtitel Ennu her in der deutschen Übersetzung und nach vielen Jahren der Veröffentlichungsstille von Kari Bremnes und in unserer - laut Kari - "beängstigenden und unbeherrschbaren Welt" haben diese Worte einen wohltuenden Klang. So wohltuend und schön wie Karis "glasklarer und doch warmherziger Gesang" wie Audio über das letzte Album sagte. Viel ist über die Künstlerin von den Lofoten geschrieben worden - hier kommt sie selbst zu Wort und führt uns in ihre Gedankenwelt zum neuen Album ein: "Sechs neue Songs. Diese Geschichten sagen viel darüber aus, was mich derzeit beschäftigt. Es gab sie schon eine Weile, bevor sie ihre Form und ihre Musik gefunden haben. Es hat Spaß gemacht und war nervenaufreibend und herausfordernd, sie bei all den Wendungen, Rückschlägen und Fortschritten zu begleiten. Jetzt fühle ich, dass es an der Zeit ist, sie aus dem Haus zu holen."

Hot on the heels of Luv (LuvLuv) comes a sublime new Drum Chums from midland's madlads Wrekin Havoc.
Over the years we've shared great tunes, fun times and A-grade dance floor debauchery with these permanent party people (our first encounter almost exactly like that Spiderman pointing meme) so it made more sense than we usually do to invite them aboard the V*nga bus for some Balearic-Disco edit excellence.

Things kick off with the sexy throb of 'Shine A Light', a stonewashed funk workout complete with Paisley guitars, Troutman bass grunts and some big time blue-eyed soul vocals. It's a bit like an extended and unheard collaboration between George Michael and Tears For Fears recorded immediately after a particularly heavy night at Future. Unsurprising perhaps that this one's been getting a whole lot of love from DJ Harvey.

'Mars Bar Party' grabs you by the hips from the first bar of its swaying Mediterranean house rhythm, then tugs at every single one of your heartstrings with melancholic pads and a silken vocal croon. Fuuuuuuckin' hell! Sorry, was totally bewitched by the primal power of piano house magic - it's like John Rocca was in the room for a second. Armed with an awesome arrangement and clocking in at ten massive minutes, this may be the ultimate Balearic house journey.

If all this wasn't enough to have you stocking up on 5-HTP and sinus rinse, those crafty cats close the set out with the shimmering disco euphoria of 'Leccy Meet Her'. The bottom end pulses endlessly, Cowley synths trill and a crystal clear Vox soar above, sending us far off into mirrorball orbit. If this isn't a hit at Horse Meat, we'll neck a bottle of poppers and never eat a tomato again.

Each and every track Wrekin Havoc touch is a pearler, but we're particularly chuffed with ourselves for snapping this top trio up.

Peripheral Minimal records is proud to present it's latest release: Cold Colors / Xiu "Tristesse" 7". The single comes from a cassette released by Vocoder Tapes in 2013. It will be limited to 250 copies on black vinyl.

The two tracks on the 7" are beautifully constructed minimal wave / synth tracks, that are simultaneously melancholic and uplifting, perhaps for comparison we could think of: Figure Study, Xeno & Oaklander or Selofan.

Cold Colors is Frédérick Barbe who hails from Bordeaux. He has released material on several well-known labels, including: Lux Rec, Oráculo Records, Waste Editions, Nocta Numerica, F.I.R., Romance Moderne, and now Peripheral Minimal.

Xiu is Oksana Rodionova who is based in Milan but originates from Estonia. "Xiu's music is a synthesis between retro-pop and futurist synth waves. It delivers spacy looped electronica, groovy rhythms, linear lo-fi synth washes, softly dreamy pop melodies sometimes admitting dramatic tones and mysterious textural ambiences. The conceptual background deals with thematics related to dystopia, occult arts and mystic beliefs."

The recordings were made between France and Italy during the "Loneliness" E.P. sessions 2013 / 14.

ASMR for Suicidal Thoughts' marks Varg2™ back in collaboration with Chatline, an enigmatic figure long in orbit of Northern Electronics. Recorded live to tape, the record resists comfort. Contained within are two harrowing demonstrations that drag on emptiness, anxiety, and abject pleasure. And though terse and severe, that very void becomes the vessel for its mottled meaning.

Unopen to exploration, 'ASMR for Suicidal Thoughts' locks the listener into its own saturated atmosphere. Stripped back and unchanging, and suffocatingly cold at the best of times, funereal melodies pepper cyclical noise so brittle it can barely repeat itself. Disturbingly intimate glints of memories are passed over out of reach, yet with the alarming immediacy of déjà vu. The sensation amounts to no more than this.
