BRUJERIA is an extreme Mexican-American metal band founded in 1989 in Los Angeles. Under cover of pseudonyms, its original members were the guitarist Dino Cazares ( FEAR FACTORY ), Jello Biafra ( DEAD KENNEDYS ), the drummer Pat Hoed, bassist Billy Gould ( FAITH NO MORE ) and singer Juan Bruno. BRUJERIA first appears as a terrorist group having kidnapped the bosses of Roadrunner Records in order to be able to release a record. This joke having been denied, the group appears as a parallel project that is characterized by the themes of satanism, terrorism, sex, rebellion, and politics. The group forges a reputation of psychopaths by playing on stage , with hooded or masked with scarves, titles called "Marijuana" or "Brujerizmo ( the word "Brujeria" which means "witchcraft" ). BRUJERIA is Mexican hence the name and lyrics in Spanish. Dino Cazares ( exFEAR FACTORY ) was the guitarist. The musicians of BRUJERIA keep their identities secret but it is known that ex-FEAR FACTORY's Dino Cazares, FEAR FACTORY's Asesino and Raymond Herrera, as well as Billy Gould, ex-FAITH NO MORE, have worked on guitar, drums and bass, Nicolas Barker ( ex-CRADLE OF FILTH etc ) takes also part of the butchery, just to name a few...

First Word Records is proud to present 'Nothing Leaves The House - The Anthology'. A vinyl-only album of 16 hip hop instrumentals from Mr Thing, kidkanevil, Tall Black Guy & Eric Lau. This is a collection of a long-out-of print series of beats from four of the most revered beat-makers in the underground scene.

This double-vinyl collection features four brand new tracks specially created for this 10 year anniversary release. The concept behind this project was originally birthed on Record Store Day 2012. First Word label founder Gilla explains "as we dipped in and out of London's Soho record shops, kidkanevil mentioned to me that he wanted to mine Mr Thing's vast record collection for samples. An idea formed to invite a couple of other beatmakers to join him and to press the resulting beats onto vinyl.

Mr Thing enthusiastically agreed to the idea with one stipulation: they could sample what they wanted, but the records had to stay within the walls of his flat. We quickly enlisted Eric Lauand Tall Black Guy to complete the quartet and 'Nothing Leaves The House' was born." The release came to fruition and was released a decade ago, for Record Store Day in April 2014. The quartet met up once again shortly after in another London record shop, to work on a follow up project.

For this one, Mr Thing brought one record for each producer from his collection for them to sample. They reciprocated by picking a record from the racks in the shop for him to use. 'Thing Leaves The House' was then released in 2015. Completing the trilogy of releases, the crew were invited to the legendary John Peel Archive to dig for samples there. After trawling the legendary Peel Acres collection, the producers individually selected sound snippets to create new beats from; this time under the stipulation that 'Nothing Leaves The Archive'. This double 7" release again landed on Record Store Day, 2016. Gilla says "10 years on from the release of the first record, and almost 9 years to the day since we were at Peel Acres, we are now releasing the 4th and final volume.

Whilst Mr Thing is still in England, the other three have travelled far and wide. Eric Lau is now in China, Tall Black Guy has returned to the US and kidkanevil has moved to Berlin. Our indie label budget didn't extend to uniting everyone from the different continents, so instead Mr Thing uploaded a folder of tracks for the trio to work from. With the previous volumes now long sold out, we've added the original beats to this anthology and have moved up from a double 7" to a double 12" LP. One side for each producer; four tracks made across 10 years." 'Nothing Leaves The House - The Anthology' is released on double vinyl, on Black Friday, November 29th 2024.

2024 has been a big year for the band with the release of their new album, Funeral Soundtrack #4 (available on Hopeless Records) and Epitaph Records are harking back to these two seminal vinyl releases from the band"s early days, just in time for Black Friday!

"Sorry Mom" (2017) ( on vinyl for the first time!) and "Make Room" (2018)- both albums will be available on black vinyl. DESTROY BOYS formed in 2015, when founding members Violet Mayugba and Alexia Roditis were just 15 years old, and each release has marked a period of growth and change. "Looking back, our first three albums marked the deaths of things," says guitarist Violet Mayugba. "They were soundtracks to our funerals, whether they were for our ages, our mental states. We"ve gone through a lot of changes as a band and as people." "The first one (Sorry, Mom) was our high school album," Mayugba explains. "On the second record (Make Room), we went to college and were saying goodbye to our childhood. On the third one, we"d just gone through COVID and, speaking for myself, I lost my entire sense of self and gained a new one." Now, at 24, Mayugba and Roditis are standing firmly on solid ground with more resolute and confident than ever in their place as musicians.

Agitator is a band that evokes strong emotions. Euphoric acclaim for debut album 'Jag trivs bäst där du är', released earlier this year, drew its energy from the band's ferocious sincerity and pedal to the metal-mentality. The influences from classic post-punk, techno and the noisy guitar scene of the 90s became in Agitator's interpretation something that felt more now than anything. Much more mechanical than the sleazy proto-punk of the Stooges, The Idiot was a huge influence on the post-punk sound of folks like Joy Division and Magazine. Endonomos is the brainchild of Austrian multi-instrumentalist, producer and session musician Lukas Haidinger, who was mostly known for playing extreme metal in bands such as Profanity, Nervecell, Distaste and many more, but as a longtime ‘doomer’, he finally brought his sinister yet melodic sound to tape. Of what started as a one man's urge to craft menacing yet epic death/doom ‘funeral’ metal, turned into a full group of dedicated musicians in 2021 with their debut-album “Endonomos” (2022) as a result. Along with some of his closest friends to accompany Haidinger on this adventure, namely Armin Schweiger (drums), Philipp Forster (guitars) and Christoph Steinlechner (guitars), Endonomos now releases the sophomore album “Enlightenment”, recorded, mixed and mastered by Haidinger in his DeepDeepPressure Studios. Zwei Jahre, nachdem sein Sohn Owen im August 2022 an einer Überdosis gestorben war. Das bekenntnissreiche Album ist zunächst eine Hommage an Owen, aber was Joyner hier ebenso großzügig wie berührend teilt, ist ein intimer Einblick in den Versuch, Unfassbares zu begreifen. "Wie geht es jetzt weiter?" Diese Frage hat Simon Joyner auf nahezu all seinen Alben als Ausgangspunkt seiner Songs versucht zu beantworten. Er schrieb über das menschliche Dilemma im Allgemeinen. Um schwierige Wahrheiten zu erzählen nutze er die Fiktion seiner Charaktere, die sich durch persönliche Krisen in einer unzureichenden amerikanischen Gesellschaft kämpfen. Etwas durchgängig düsteres lag über den Erzählungen, die im Wesen allerdings nie nihilistisch waren. Das Brüchige, das auch Stilmittel seiner Musik, vor allem seiner Stimme ist, war etwas, das es anzunehmen und auszuhalten galt. Um die Eingangsfrage zu beantworten, um im Leben zu Bestehen, um zu überleben, müssen wir wissen, wo wir stehen. Auf seinem neuen Album Coyote Butterfly fehlt erstmals dieser fiktive Charakter. Es ist sicher sein persönlichtes Werk. Dennoch bietet es einen universellen Aspekt und die Antwort auf Frage, wie es weiter geht, ist diesmal die Platte und der Prozess des Songwritings und der Aufnahmen selbst. Coyote Butterfly wurzelt im Schmerz des Vaters Simon Joyner über den Tod des Sohnes, der sich überraschend kurz nach Veröffentlichung seines 2022er Albums "Songs From A Stolen Guitar" ereignete. Zwei Jahre hat es gedauert, bis sich seine Trauer zu Liedern formen konnte. Joyner fand so ein Ventil für seinen Schmerz und einen Kanal, um die unzähligen Emotionen zu verarbeiten, die seine Erfahrung umkreisen. Umgeben von einer Reihe enger Freunde, darunter David Nance, James Schroeder, Kevin Donahue, Ben Brodin und Michael Krassner, ist das Album sparsam, aber nicht karg. Eingerahmt wird es von zwei field recording-artigen Instrumentals. Der Hörer ist eingeladen, sich mit ihm in solch eine Situation zu denken und das eigene Herz zu öffnen. Coyote Butterfly ist eine ehrliche, somit wunderschöne Beschwörung der Trauer eines Vaters, aber auch ein universelles Zeugnis für die Liebe und für das Leben, das nach einem Verlust weitergeht.

'Oase' ist das zweite Album des in Berlin ansässigen Progressive-Rock-Kollektivs Weite, und der Nachfolger des 2023 erschienenen Debütalbums der Band. Mit einer Laufzeit von fast einer Stunde nimmt das Album die Zuhörer mit auf eine komplexe und vielschichtige Reise, die vom Pioniergeist des Psychedelic Rock der 1970er Jahre inspiriert ist und Einflüsse aus "Canterbury Scene"-Prog, Krautrock, früher Electronica, Postrock und Americana vermischt. Man möge sich hierzu nur die über 10-minütige Vorab-Single 'Roter Traum' anhören.
Das neue Album zeigt Weites Fähigkeit, das Alte mit dem Neuen zu verschmelzen und einen eindringlichen, forschenden Sound zu schaffen, der von kontemplativ und pastoral zu riffig und düster wechselt, ohne jemals die Melodie zu opfern. 'Oase' zeichnet sich durch längere, weitläufige, atmosphärische Kompositionen aus, ist aber zweifellos kompositorisch durchdachter als das Debüt der Band. Mit dem Fokus auf Melodie, Textur und Stimmung - wenn auch nicht unbedingt immer in dieser Reihenfolge - kreieren Weite einen komplexen und meditativ klingenden Sound, der den Hörer einlädt, sich auf eine Reise durch wechselnde Klanglandschaften und sich entwickelnde musikalische Erzählungen zu begeben. Weite wurde im Winter 2022 in Berlin von Bassist Ingwer Boysen (delving) gegründet, der Schlagzeuger Nick DiSalvo (Elder, delving) und die Gitarristen Michael Risberg (Elder, delving) und Ben Lubin (Lawns) rekrutierte. Ursprünglich als einmalige Aufnahmesession gedacht, erkannten die vier eine offensichtliche musikalische Chemie und Gemeinsamkeiten und beschlossen, das Projekt in eine richtige Band umzuwandeln. Keyboarder Fabien de Menou (Perilymph) kam 2024 dazu. 'Oase' ist auf 180Gr. Pink-marmorierter Doppel-LP erhältlich.

High Hopes is 17 songs across 40 minutes on one slice of wax that, as advertised, sounds nothing like last month’s Ep, High Dreams. Here, rather than the long form dance form, is a continuation of the beat tape pacing from the last album, a collection of moments posing as ideas posing as a narrative stuffed with oddities and surprises that reward the close listen.
What’s heard on High Hopes is the Mole’s exploration of a love letter, from one person to a family, from the northern Pacific to the southern Atlantic, from a boy to a painted bird. Vancouver Island to Manantiales. The songs range from ambient sound bath and hip hop sludge, up to micro boogie and almost House before tumbling back down and forth again. Bubbling synths, MPCs swung out, samples chopped and chewed, bass and violins from Rick and Sophie, field recordings of birds and frogs and beaches, friends and family and fiestas. Did we mention the love ?! This album has got it all! Original collages from Antonio Carrau envelope this wax: jacket, sleeve and cookie. Antonio’s work is typified by playful combinations and bold statements about living in a embrace of analog and digital health. His co lages marry the corporeal world with an updated, digitalized age of reproduction, inducing feelings of gratitude for the simple everyday scenes we sometimes lose touch with when we forget to slow down. Good living, like breathing, requires inhaling as well as exhaling.

The Mole has been ‘recognized’ by the ‘global underground’ since his critically celebrated premiere album, As High As The Sky, but his earlier Eps (Wagon Repair, Philpot, Musique Risquee) got the attention of Top DJs, clubs, and festivals around the world first. His sound remains unique, fresh and deep: enjoying plays in a wide variety of spaces and places.
High Hopes is the Mole’s 5th solo album and his 2nd album for Circus Company (The River Widens) who have also proudly released two eps of Mole magic (Little Sunshine, High Dreams).

Due to the many quiet passages in the album, the groove spacing can be modulated and the needle can slow it’s progress towards the center/end resulting in longer sides with continued high gain and low distortion.

Gwen Dolyn releases her debut album "X-RATED feelings" on 22 November 2024, via Duchess Box Records. The album "X-RATED feelings", which contains the singles "ertrinken", "reiner wein" and "mies präpariert", was produced by Thomas Zehnle and Max Reiger. "X-RATED feelings" is about longing, mental health, feminism and relationships, love, loss and self-empowerment. The sound is a homage to the raw part of Neue Deutsche Welle and a combination of honest lyrics, grunge, pop sounds and extravagant outfits. Originally from the capital Berlin, Gwen Dolyn decided to leave the hustle and bustle of the city and now lives in Chemnitz. She is known as one half of the duo Tränen together with Steffen Israel from Kraftklub. The dark lord of the dance returns to Sneaker with the 'No Favours' EP, another ominous set of non-conformist shellers rough-cut from obsidian and set in steel.

We first broadcast our love of Christoph de Babalon's distinctively destructive, hard-boiled hardcore via the Evident Ware compilation back in 2020, but a longer release has been an ambition of ours ever since. From his early years on Digital Hardcore through his prolific return in the 2010s across a broad tapestry of underground operators, de Babalon has left a fascinating trail of albums, EPs and scattershot tracks behind him that feed into the cult fervour around his music.

As this EP demonstrates in reliably gritty fashion, the magic in the German producer's music lies in his ability to take the tropes of jungle and hardcore and subvert them through signal chains which owe more to noise and industrial than dance music. The structure of his tracks is equally maverick, pushing and pulling according to its own whims rather than following the dancer-centric energetic flow of a standard club record. Somewhere in this alchemy between classic ingredients and confrontational experimentation, he evokes the original chaotic spirit of hardcore when it seemed anything was possible within the music.

'For Nothing' is the perfect example — a tunnelling odyssey of ferrous atmospheres, roundhouse drums and bass bloated into the red on a force-fed diet of saturation. 'Total Deceit' turns up the pressure on the break chopping science de Babalon is capable of, teasing gamelan flurries and elegiac swirls that hit at the emotional depth he can wrench amidst such bludgeoning material. 'Jaded Memory' funnels Mentasm bass into a strange new form amidst staggering, tightly clipped drumfunk, leaving enough space for haunting ballroom reveries stretching out across the mid-section. That leaves it to 'Dearth Mill' to mop up with gloriously creepy detuned piano notes slopping over each other in between the most ferocious blasts of drums on the whole record.

A1 Northern Lights
Darkly, tense tones take center stage as Northern Lights kicks the LP off, introduced with an eerie synth before classic, striking old school breaks that aficionados will recall from the likes of John Bs Secrets drop, chopped expertly by our Spatial duo to create a quietly vengeful beat pattern with heavy kicks and a unique stuttering detail. Circling menacingly around the mix we are treated to swathes of choral detail, subtle vocal samples and shimmering ambience..

A2 Sunset on Mars
Showcasing the strengths of both producers through a delightfully rich atmosphere, Sunset on Mars opens with soothing echoed effects that ooze a welcoming sense of wonder. Delicate in composition yet still packing a punch, the breaks sit over a sumptuous deep sub bassline which carries our journey through simple key melodies, vivid mood-changing synths superbly to create a pure, wholesome atmospheric bliss.

B1 Totality
Dominant hats and cymbals surf the peaks of the mix early in Totality, detailed old school breakbeats quickly seizing our attention constructed with an effortless attention to detail. A stark, thick atmosphere is carved from a broad backdrop of sound blending vocals and synths, enveloping the listener with a dense, bleak soundscape that develops continually as the breaks roll on with memorable intent.

B2 Reincarnation
A deeply evocative, interstellar intro opens Reincarnation, generating images of lonely spacewalks with trademark Spatial aplomb. The vibe continues through a barrage of heavy analogue amens which crush the mix, edited with a chunky, commanding panache. The listener can picture pillars of isolation and thundering defiance dancing in duality as the elements weave their way fluidly throughout.

C1 Seraphim
Into an intense, epically atmospheric piece next as Seraphim channels the spirit of yesterday for a journey into the souls core via scene-trademark Hot Pants breaks, a moody 808 bassline and swirling atmospheric pads, melodies & synths. Layered with detailed FX demanding repeated listens to soak it all in, Seraphim is a special track which will take over your setlist and the journey home.

C2 Prism of Light
Sit back and relax to another slice of classic atmospheric bliss with Prism of Light, opening with a DJ-friendly hi hat intro before melodic synths generate an instantly unforgettable late-90s vibe. Hot Pants breaks drive us forward with a wondrously simple yet effective mix of 2 step and double kick edits, as blissful ambient washes and vocal hits are drizzled over the mix. Delightful.

D1 Harmonic Function A uniquely constructed beat pattern guaranteed to move you opens Harmonic Function, building up from rushing cymbals and hats intertwined with a fantastic crunchy, metallic half-time snare. Throw in a slew of mournful melodies and blanketed pad work around the mix and youre left with a superbly laid back yet danceable piece from ASC & Aural Imbalance, continually innovating in their music as ever on Spatial.

D2 Fade to Grey
Old school rhythms are on the agenda as our duo close out the album with a tense, meandering exploration through space, circling the planets through mellowed out beats before a layer of dense, analogue breaks are added to the mix as the atmosphere escalates. Exquisitely programmed vocals provide texture and feeling, while an understated bassline rumbling on below, completing a timeless collage of sound.
