Ignite’s A Place Called Home 25th anniversary edition on vinyl with bonus tracks out in March 2025 Svart Records is proud to reissue the Californian melodic hardcore band Ignite’s album A Place Called Home. Previously released on vinyl only on its original release date in 2000 on TVT Records, A Place Called Home will finally be available on wax again on March 21st, 2025. Formed in Orange County in 1993, Ignite's sound is hard to pin down. Their music contains elements of punk, hardcore, alternative, and even heavy metal. Their 30-year career has produced several classic albums with A Place Called Home being their commercial breakthrough album, combining the spirit and muscle of hardcore and the catchy tunes of west coast punk rock. Sixteen songs loaded with great hooks, compelling, socially conscious lyrics, and the heaviness that hard music fans love. The band’s bassist and founding member Brett Rasmussen comments the reissue: "When I found out that the guys at Svart Records were licensing A Place Called Home for a vinyl reissue I was beyond stoked. This album will finally be available again, after being out of press for so long, and this time there will be colored vinyl! I'm really looking forward to spinning this reissue and I'm happy that it will be available for our fans to enjoy again on a turntable." The authorised Svart Records 25th anniversary edition of this modern genre-defining classic contains three bonus tracks previously only available on the European CD version of the album and comes with an insert. Formed in Oakland just before the pandemic's onset in late 2019, SPY has built on the foundation of bands like Bad Brains and Poison Idea rather than following the current wave of metallic hardcore. They’re set to unleash their latest EP, Seen Enough, on Closed Casket Activities, out February 21. No song on Seen Enough ever overstays its welcome, instead embodying what makes hardcore frenetic. Burning through six songs in under ten minutes, every track is a testament to the energy the band has built up through relentless touring. SPY worked with Jack Shirley at Oakland's Atomic Garden to record the EP. Shirley captured their essence by recording live to tape, eschewing the modern practice of individual tracking in favor of a more immediate, visceral approach that better represents their explosive live show. That in-room chemistry is immediately apparent – songs like "Stay In Your Lane" maintain the texture and grit you'd get at a show in between every huge riff. Seen Enough doesn't hide what it's about: society's continued descent with diminishing hope for course correction. From the jump, SPY has followed in the lineage of Bay Area punks like Dead Kennedys and Ceremony in both attitude and awareness. Their latest offering maintains the critical edge of their earlier material while expanding their lyrical scope, delivering a streamlined punch that hits hard through its runtime. By staying true to themselves, SPY has carved out their own niche in the modern hardcore landscape. After touring with legends and contemporaries alike including Gel, Full of Hell, Ceremony, Municipal Waste, Sunami and playing basically every fest worth caring about including Sound and Fury, Outbreak, Sick New World and LDB, 2025 is set to be a monstrous year for SPY.

Armagedda’s debut album, “The Final War Approaching”, is a hateful slab of youthful fervour. Originally released by the iconic cult label Sombre Record in 2001, this is black metal distilled to its purest, most unadulterated form. While drenched in lo-fi minimalism, the production is absolute perfection for the material. The piercing guitar leads cut through a dense fog of reverb, while the prominent bass and drums impart a malevolent force – all of which culminates in a sinister authenticity, inimitable and true.

Armagedda’s “Ond spiritism” (2004) is held in the same regard as the iconic releases by black metal contemporaries such as Funeral Mist, Watain, and Deathspell Omega. Boasting one of the best productions ever to emerge from Necromorbus Studio, the unique tonal quality of the guitars casts a hollow, haunting resonance – impeccably conveying the wistful, folk-infused dissonance. Creative basslines weave through sinister melodies, seamlessly integrated with the minimalist yet masterful percussion.

Its sound veers away from raw black metal intensity, opting for expansive, dreamy
atmospheres. Damian Anton Ojeda's signature approach tempers the harshness of
black metal's usual bleakness with a delicate sense of beauty and melancholy. The
album builds around shimmering guitars and lush soundscapes, creating a sense of
longing rather than the frostbitten aggression typically associated with the genre.
A key characteristic of "I Want to Be There" is how the screamed vocals--reminiscent
of depressive black metal--are mixed to blend seamlessly with the instrumental layers.
This intentional obscuring of vocals, pushed toward the back, transforms the vocals
into another textural element rather than a dominant force. This aesthetic decision
diffuses the emotional weight usually carried by extreme metal vocals, steering the
listener away from despair and toward introspection.
The balance between black metal's darker elements and post-rock's ethereal qualities
gives this record its emotional depth. The opening and closing tracks, "In the Distant
Travels" and the title track, lean more heavily on black metal structures but never fully
embrace the genre's typical harshness. Instead, the fuzzy guitars and crashing
cymbals are imbued with hope and uplifting energy. The post-rock influence becomes
more pronounced in tracks like "I Want to Be With You," which forgoes black metal
vocals entirely in favor of a choral atmosphere, evoking a serene and heavenly quality.
Ojeda also demonstrates his talent for creating immersive soundscapes, drawing
comparisons to *Sigur Ros*. Both artists employ sweeping melodies that evoke
feelings of transcendence. Still, where *Sigur Ros* tends to embrace more overtly
uplifting and sentimental tones, Sadness anchors these grand moments in
melancholy, avoiding overindulgence. The album is a delicate dance between light and
shadow, making the listening experience emotionally rich and layered.
While it may not have the raw emotional punch of *Deafheaven* or the nostalgic
charm of *Alcest*, *I Want to Be There* stands as a polished and thoughtfully
composed entry into the post-blackgaze genre. Ojeda's ability to fuse the weightless
hypnosis of black metal with the airy beauty of post- rock results in a sound that is
both familiar and new. Sadness offers a captivating and often beautiful exploration of
blackgaze, making the album a worthwhile listen for fans of atmospheric and
introspective metal.

A quintessential, timeless piece of death metal
In 1997, long-running Polish death metal act VADER - currently celebrating their 40th anniversary - made an important step towards international recognition by releasing “Black To The Blind”, their third studio album, which includes live staples like ‘Carnal’ or the savage title track. Honed from playing way over 250 concerts in the mid 90’s and sharing stage with Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Morbid Angel, the quartet became true road dogs with a dedicated following up until today and perfected their intense and catchy, Slayer-meets-Morbid-Angel on steroids brand of death metal. “Black To The Blind” has been remastered and features an updated layout as well as the original cover art. A quintessential, timeless piece of death metal!

T. Gowdy returns with a major statement and luminous stylistic expansion on his third album for Constellation. Trill Scan is an exquisite suite of songs literally and figuratively about alchemy, where Gowdy melds his background in choral and medieval music with his trademark analogue electronics. Following the acclaimed Miracles (Bleep Album of the Week / Albums of the Year 2022), Gowdy's bar-raising new LP centers human voice for the first time. Choral set-pieces and solo lead vocals, along with his own lute playing, are novel elements in Gowdy's work, and draw on strains of Middle Ages polyphony and the Baroque "broken style" to further distinguish Trill Scan from anything in his discography to date. Gowdy sees "the modal language of medieval Europe as a less distant cousin to indigenous traditional music practice" compared to a Classical-colonial "patriarchal order of tonality that honours a system of domination." The 12th century Notre Dame School of choral music and 17th century style brisé each carry tonal materiality, heterodox technique, and cultural-historical symbolism central to Trill Scan's conceptual and compositional alchemy. Gowdy coheres these beautifully into his palette of serpentine slowburn electronics, a minimal analogue-driven techno shaped by aleatory strategies and tinged with post-punk grit. Gowdy's sound has been aptly described as "gently transportative, flickering like a busted halogen lamp" and his overriding pursuit of psychoacoustic immanence likened to "getting your brain massaged" and praised as "blissful work that bristles with effervescent energy, like brain waves coming in and out of focus." Trill Scan expands this sonic sensibility with more conspicuous harmonic complexity, stylistic variety, and humanistic narrative arc. Alternately sacramental and intimately personal vocals, sometimes wordless and sometimes lyrical, are worked into superlative instrumental tracks, yielding a warmly immersive concept album that's equally Gowdy's most musical. Gowdy sings explicitly of alchemy on the hypnotic album centerpiece "Novus Lumen" with lyrics that gesture at these medieval processes of material investigation. The tension between the scientific and esoteric is crucial; the separation and synthesis of physical substances in medieval alchemy maps onto his fixation with the interplay between the materiality of sound and psychoacoustics. Gowdy follows the Jungian interpretation of classic alchemical texts as an historical bridge to theories of the psyche, where consciousness itself is treated as materiality and similarly subjected to methodical analysis and experimentation, to deconstruction, dissolution, transformation, reintegration, metamorphosis. Song titles like "Arislei Bone" and "Materiadiscipuli" further reference these mythopoetic throughlines from medieval alchemy to modern psychology. Gowdy chooses disruptive forms from the history of Western music that symbolize and prefigure the modern psychological subject and its struggle for/against order, even as they also evoke liturgy and the Renaissance court. The sacramental adds a potent dimension to his pursuit of psychoacoustic activation, meditation, and transcendence, as choral passages intersperse with electronic drone and pointillism throughout the album. His gorgeous Fennesz-meets-lute rendition of the Baroque composition "Courante" by François Dufault offers idiomatic salon-secular counterpoint. Album closer "Strewn" is bookended by a final recurrence of choral invocation, with pulsing earworm motorik techno in between, over which Gowdy whisper-sings a dreamlike vision quest of mythic-alchemical imagery: "as I washed my eyes they turned to metal / and the memories melted to the metal / the metal of my heart." A mesmerizing final song that explicitly invokes Gowdy's search for materialized abstraction and substantive musical immanence wrought from his own psycho-therapeutic subjectivity, and encapsulates the album's turn towards more harmonic, historicized, and humanistic elements. CRYO is the first album by the duo of cellist Nikos Veliotis (GR) and pianist Alex Zethson (SE). Veliotis is best known for the pioneering electronic group In Trance 95, MMMD and his collaboration with Giannis Aggelakas of the rock group Tripes. Zethson is a member of groups such as Goran Kajfes’ Tropiques, Martin Küchen's Angles, Fire! Orchestra, Vathres, and more. The duo met in Athens when Tropiques played at the legendary record store, gallery and concert venue Underflow, where Veliotis was invited for an opening solo set. The day after, the duo entered the Athens studio Artracks and created CRYO, consisting of two long pieces in which the duo explores slow forms and waves of sound, with the piano's bass register creating rumbling clouds and sparkling overtones that the cello blends into and transforms. Together, they’ve crafter an organically undulating, intense, heavy and dark drone music. The album was meticulously mastered by Mell Dettmer, who has collaborated with drone metal bands like Earth and Sun O))).

recorded a demo and in 2012 their first full length "Musinee Doom Session, Volume 1",
recorded by Danilo "Dano" Battocchio, was released for the Turin-based Escape From
Today (EFT050) and for the young Roman label, Heavy Psych Sounds (First non Black
Rainbows release, HPS005). In 2013 a split with Lento from Rome came out and Tons
began to plow the European venues, opening the stage for bands like Bongzilla,
Unsane, Church of Misery, Napalm Death, Pentagram etc ...

In 2015 the drummer Marco Dinocco left the band and was replaced by Andrea
Peracchia (Dogs for Breakfast/Slaiver). Paolo Paganelli (Woptime/Linea77) was also
added as lead guitarist. In 2018 the second full length of the band "Filthy Flowers of
Doom" was released for Heavy Psych Sounds Records, which would bring Tons again
around Europe in 2018 and in 2019. In 2021 they released a split record with the
mighty Bongzilla followed by a European tour together in 2022. On 7th October 2022
the band released a brand new album called "Hashension" and a repress for the 10th
anniversary of their debut album "Musinee Doom Session, Volume 1" with remastered
audio and a new cover artwork.

During these years Tons played in many important Festival, such as Desert Fest
London and Antwerp, Sonic Blast, Frantic Fest, Venezia Hardcore and HPS Fest.

The new crushing four track record entitled 'Instruments of torture', shows that Deformer still takes the lead when it comes to originality. Deformer has collaborated with some musical giants before and this time teamed up with Death Metal icon David Vincent (Vltimas, I Am Morbid), who previously shook up the music industry with Death Metal legends Morbid Angel. Featured on two tracks, David's signature grunt goes hand in hand with Deformer's musical carnage. This is not just groundbreaking, it's legendary!

Deformer producer, Mike Redman, is considered a musical maniac, known to be an artistic freethinker and has never watered down the Deformer concept. Where its foundation is still Hardcore Jungle, Deformer has always added various music genres into the mix making Deformer a genre of its own, even before terms like 'Breakcore' existed. Many of the more popular names in the field acknowledge that Deformer has always been a great source of inspiration. Where David Vincent made a blueprint in Death Metal, Deformer definitely did that for Hardcore Jungle/Breakcore.

Maltuka aus dem norwegischen Bergen sind eine aufstrebende Thrash-Metal-Macht, die mit ihrer Vier-Track-Debüt-EP „Black Rite“ für Furore sorgen wird. Gitarrist/Sänger Viljar Brunvoll und Schlagzeuger Mats lernten sich 2016/17 bei Psykopath kennen, mit denen sie zwei EPs aufnahmen und mehrere Konzerte gaben. Als sich diese Band auflöste, arbeiteten die beiden weiter gemeinsam an Demos, die schließlich zur Gründung von Maltuka führten. Mit Einflüssen, die von Metallica und Slayer über Nuclear Assault bis zu den Teutonic-Thrash-Legenden Sodom und Maltukas schwarzmetallischen Landsleuten Immortal reichen, verleihen die Musiker der bewährten Thrash-Formel eine individuelle Note. Die Songs von „Black Rite“ drehen sich um spirituelle und okkulte Themen, die der Musik Tiefe und Atmosphäre verleihen. Das Cover der EP, das auf einem Gemälde von Kim Diaz Holm (Sólstafir, Vreid) basiert, spiegelt die dunklen Themen der Songs wider. Und während sie als Einführung in Maltukas Sound dienen, hat die Gruppe ehrgeizige Pläne für die Zukunft. „Diese EP zeigt unseren härteren, direkteren Songwriting-Stil“, bemerkt Viljar. „Unser erstes Album wird dynamischer sein und eine breitere Palette an Einflüssen und Sounds bieten.“ Mit „Black Rite“ setzen Maltuka ein mutiges Zeichen, indem sie Thrash Metal eigenständig interpretieren, aber auch seine Wurzeln hochhalten. Stainless starteten offiziell im Jahre 2022 in Portland, Oregon. Aktuelle und frühere Musiker waren vorher bei lokalen Underground-Bands wie Black Breath, Long Knife, Lebenden Toten, Halt, Bellicose Minds, Nightfell, Malikili und Ripper aktiv. Das erste Lebenszeichen der Band war die in Eigenregie gepresste 7" Single "Snakebite"/"Too Hot To Steal". Nun erscheint als Nachfolger das Mini-Album "Nocturnal Racer" mit dem Titelstück sowie "Shot For Shot", "Believer" und "The Evil Lies". Die vier Songs wurden 2023/24 in den Red Lantern Studios (Portland) von Larissa Cavacece (Gesang), Mira Sonnleitner (Bass), Joe Sugar (Drums) und Jamie Byrum (Gitarre, Gesang) eingespielt. Mittlerweile ist Joe Sugar durch Terrica Catwood von der Band Time Rift ersetzt worden. "Ich würde uns als Hardrock oder Heavy Rock bezeichnen", weiß Gitarrist und Sänger Jamie Byrum. "Es gibt zwar viele Elemente des Heavy Metal in unserer Musik, aber es wäre wohl missverständlich, uns als reinrassige Hevy-Metal-Band zu bezeichnen. Die erste Single war im Gegensatz zu "Nocturnal Racer" noch viel mehr im Blues verwurzelt." Frontlady Larissa Cavacece, die von Kanada nach Portland gezogen ist, prägt mit ihrer messerscharfen Stimme irgendwo zwischen Leather Leone und Wendy O. Williams den Sound von Stainless nicht unwesentlich. Jamie Byrum: "Ihre Einflüsse gehen weiter als Chastain und Plasmatics. Allerdings weiß ich, dass sie es ehrt, in einem Atemzug mit den beiden genannt zu werden. Larissa besitzt einen Goth-Background, schwört aber auch auf Crust-Bands wie Amebix und Sacrilege. Des weiteren ist sie ein großer Bowie-Fan und liebt den Rock der Siebziger. Passenderweise hat ihre Karriere als Sängerin in einer Plasmatics-Coverband begonnen." Laut dem Gitarristen/Sänger sind "Sex, Schlangen, Motorräder, schnelle Autos, Rock 'n' Roll, Standhaftigkeit, das Böse und Heavy Metal geeignete Themen für Stainless." Davon wird es in absehbarer Zukunft wohl noch mehr zu hören geben, denn Stainless arbeiten derzeit am Material für ihr erstes vollständiges Album.

Britny Fox is the eponymous debut album by American glam metal band Britny Fox, originally released in 1988. It was met with critical acclaim and near Platinum sales. Their lead single "Long Way To Love" made heavy rotation on MTV and the band won Metal Edge magazine's Best New Band award in 1988. Britny Fox was formed in 1985 in Philadelphia, fronted by lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist "Dizzy" Dean Davidson. Other band members included Billy Childs on bass, and two former members of the band Cinderella; Michael Kelly Smith on lead guitar and Tony Destra on drums. Their debut album remains their most popular work to date. Britny Fox is available as a limited edition of 750 copies on white coloured vinyl and includes an insert.

“We all grew up playing heavy music. For me personally, listening to artists like Swans, Godflesh, Neurosis and Kiss It Goodbye in my 20s was cathartic in a lot of ways. Identifying with people that have a similar world perspective, who are channeling their angst and frustration into the creative outlet of art and music — that was important.”

Josh Graham isn’t just talking about his decades-long career in heavy music, which has included A Storm of Light, Battle of Mice, and many years as the one-man visual department for Neurosis. He’s also talking about the formation of Guiltless, his new band with bassist Sacha Dunable (Intronaut), drummer Billy Graves (Generation of Vipers) and guitarist Dan Hawkins (A Storm of Light).

Guiltless released their debut EP, Thorns, via Neurot Recordings in early 2024. Crushing and cheerless, it seemed to welcome the apocalypse looming on our collective horizon. “The EP had a pretty narrow focus starting from my ideas,” Graham explains. “With this record, my main goal was to really collaborate with Sacha and Dan and Billy because those guys are great songwriters. The new album is meant to open up the sonic palette and explore more territory.”

That new album is Teeth to Sky, the band’s first full-length. Even more pulverizing and focused than its predecessor, the album’s collaborative songwriting approach was paired with an adjustment to the lyrical content.

You can hear it on “One Is Two,” which channels a tightly controlled Meshuggah churn through the more visceral lo-fi approach of Kiss It Goodbye or Swedish noise rock legends Breach. On “In Starless Reign,” Guiltless blend dissonant black metal and thundering doom while Graham invokes humanity’s inability to see the forest through the trees. Then there’s the bruising title track, which combines the gnarled sensibilities of The Jesus Lizard, Cherubs and Barn Owl into a rumination on Mother Nature’s revenge.

Teeth To Sky was recorded remotely by the members of Guiltless—except for the drums, which were recorded by Travis Kammeyer (Generation of Vipers) at Fahrenheit Studios in Johnson City, Tennessee. The album was mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City in Salem, Massachusetts, and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon.

Waxwork Records is thrilled to release PHANTASM Original Motion Picture Score by Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave. In celebration of the iconic Horror film's 45th Anniversary, this special triple LP features the complete score sourced from the original 1979 master tapes for the first time in any format, a full LP of never before released cues from the Phantasm score recordings sessions, and the newly re-mastered original 1979 score album.

Directed by Don Coscarelli, Phantasm has become a horror classic due to its surreal and unconventional storytelling. Filming on weekends over the span of a year, and working with a budget of only $300,000, Coscarelli and his crew created a bizarre, gorey, and entirely original horror film. Some of the most famous aspects of the film, like the floating silver orb, come directly from Coscarelli’s dreams, which give the film an even more ethereal feel. Composers Fred Myrow and Malcolm Seagrave were inspired by the horror scores of Goblin (Suspiria) and Mike Oldfield (The Exorcist) to create the haunting sounds of Phantasm. Myrow and Seagrave were working with synthesizers in the early days of the instrument. Says Coscarelli, “The synthesizers we used back then were so primitive that you couldn't repeat something; you would program the synthesizer, which means setting all of these dials to create a sound, and you went back and tried to get it again and forget it - it was impossible.

"I recently received notice that our long-term film storage vault in the basement of the historic Howard Hughes Headquarters building on the corner of Romaine and Sycamore in Hollywood was being permanently closed. During the process of moving out our negative materials, I came across the original three reels of Ampex 456 analog tape used in the Phantasm score recording sessions. Listening now to the score, including the outtake tracks, I am impressed with how inventive and adventurous Fred and Malcolm were in their approach to scoring Phantasm."

If you’ve followed the global shenanigans of heavier music over the past decades, you know the name Marko Hietala.
And if you don’t, I strongly suggest you go back down the dark rabbit hole and do your homework again. There is no doubt about it: Marko Hietala has been synonymous with quality for more than four decades. Hietala has not only shaped, but also defined the sound of harder rock, as a founding member of the heavy metal band Tarot, as an essential member of the supergroup Sinergy (next to extreme talents such as Alexi Laiho) or as one of the key figures of world’s biggest symphonic metal band Nightwish. Needless to say, his thunderous bass lines and rich vocals have been echoed in the world’s most famous venues, such as Wembley Arena and legendary festivals like Rock in Rio.
However, despite all the achievements, new conquests are coming at a steady pace... Just recently, Marko Hietala has appeared in a starring role in the TV series Vain elämää, which has gathered millions of viewers in Finland.
When it comes to an endlessly talented artist with a strong musical flame in his heart, an eponymous album is always just a matter of time. In the case of Marko Hietala, it took a while, but better late than never: his long-awaited first solo debut, Mustan sydämen rovio, finally arrived to grace the spring of 2019 (later reissued in English as Pyre of the Black Heart) Guess what? schlug die Band mit einer weiteren, fieseren Veröffentlichung „Sicker Than I Thought! Und sie haben ihr Spiel um Längen gestrafft und sich auf die
Speed/Thrash-Seite des zuvor gezeigten Konglomerats konzentriert. Auch die Soundqualität hat sich verbessert, die Produktion ist ausgefeilter und
verleiht den Gitarren ein artikuliertes, scharfes Klicken. Mindestens die Hälfte der Zeit mosht die Band ohne Reue, entfesselt vehemente Headbanger,
rührt Moshpits links und rechts an und versucht, der Kampfeslust ihrer Kollegen aus der NYHC-Szene in nichts nachzustehen.

„Stricken By Might“ hin und wieder erwähnt wird. Wenn ein Album so viel Metallic Steel in sich trägt, können wir definitiv verstehen, warum viele
Fans dieses Album lieben. E-X-E steckten mitten in der Thrash-Explosion fest, ein wenig zu spät für die „No Rules“-Veröffentlichungen von 1985 wie
das Debüt von Agent Steel, und das war vor den frühen 90ern, als es schien, als müsse jeder eine perfekte Produktion haben. Verstehen Sie uns nicht
falsch, auch wenn wir Alben wie „Victims Of Deception“ von Heathen oder „By Inheritance“ von Artillery lieben, sehnen wir uns oft nach ein wenig
Rohheit, einer amateurhaften Note, die sagt, dass diese Jungs einfach nur Spaß haben. Das Debüt von E-X-E erfüllt all diese Kriterien mit Sicherheit.

Das zweite gefühlvolle Dark Pop Album des legendären Schlagzeugers Dave Lombardo und der Singer-Songwriterin Paula Lombardo.

Die Beziehung von Dave und Paula Lombardo ist wie geschaffen für eine romantische Komödie. Man stelle sich vor: Der Mann, der die Messlatte für Heavy-Metal-Schlagzeuger höher gelegt hat, hat ein Rendezvous mit einer schönen Frau, deren musikalischer Hintergrund darin besteht, dass sie in Las Vegas als Backgroundsängerin für bekannte Bands gearbeitet hat und in Nashville als Singer/Songwriterin Fuß fassen wollte. Zum Glück für die Welt hat sich ihr musikalischer Bund in Venamoris manifestiert, deren Ipecac-Debüt To Cross Or To Burn (erscheint am 28. Februar) weit davon entfernt ist, vorgefasste Meinungen zu zerstören, während es fesselnde neue Möglichkeiten aufbaut.

Natürlich sind die Qualitäten des unermüdlichen Dave Lombardo als Weltklasse-Schlagzeuger bekannt. Aber während er die Blaupause entwarf, die das Thrash-Metal-Schlagzeugspiel definieren sollte, hat er seine Finesse auch auf Solo-Schlagzeug (Rites Of Percussion von 2023, ebenfalls auf Ipecac), Hip-Hop und klassische Musik angewandt, und er hat grenzüberschreitende Aufnahmen und Auftritte mit jedem gemacht, von John Zorns Ensembles bis zu den Punk-Ikonen Misfits und Mr. Bungle. To Cross... ist ein weiterer Meilenstein in seiner bewegten Karriere, in der er seine klanglichen Fähigkeiten um Gitarre, Bass und bemerkenswerte Produktionstechniken erweitert hat. „Das einzige, was mit den vielen Schlagzeugen, die wir zu Hause haben, mithalten kann, sind die vielen Gitarren, die Dave hat“, sagt Paula lachend. „Also spielt er auf diesem Album ziemlich viel Gitarre.“

Paula ist eine wahrhaft dynamische musikalische Kraft mit beeindruckenden stimmlichen Fähigkeiten, Geschick am Klavier und am Synthesizer und einem ausgeprägten Gespür für verführerische Texte, Melodien und Arrangements. Mit 18 war sie Backgroundsängerin in der Enklave des Entertainers Wayne Newton in Las Vegas, wo sie lernte, mit dem Druck umzugehen, wenn man mehrere Auftritte an einem Abend hat und jeden Tag Perfektion verlangt wird. Sie verließ Vegas und ging nach Nashville, um ihre Musikkarriere fortzusetzen, aber, wie sie selbst sagt, „es war einfach nicht das Richtige“.

Der Name Venamoris leitet sich vom lateinischen vena amoris („Liebesader“, die angeblich vom linken Ringfinger zum Herzen verläuft) ab. Die erste öffentliche Aufnahme von Venamoris war „The Gift“, ein Weihnachtslied, das die Lombardos auf Bandcamp veröffentlichten. Kurz darauf erschien ihr Debütalbum "Drown In Emotion", das sich durch Paulas Singer-Songwriter-Vibe auszeichnet, als wäre es 1975 zwischen den Deep Cuts von Carole Kings "Tapestry" und "Heart's Dog And Butterfly" aus dem FM-Radio gezupft worden.

Gästen und Mitwirkenden. Die 16 neuen Tracks erzählen in 3 Akten die
Geschichte von zwei jungen Metal-Fans Maƽot und Mark, die in den
Bann des mysteriösen Doctor Anastasia Dark geraten.

Löanshark wurde 2017 als Power-Trio im Herzen Barcelonas gegründet und kann als aufstrebender Stern am NWOTHM (New Wave Of True-Heavy-Metal)-Himmel gesehen werden, gleich neben ihren spanischen Kollegen von Hitten, Savaged oder Iron Curtain. Nachdem ihr Sänger und Gitarrist Lögan Heads (Ex-Alkoholizer) beschloss, von Sardinien (Italien) nach Spanien zu ziehen, traf er den Bassisten Aless Oppossed (Ex-Crimson Storm) und bald darauf wurden sie durch den Schlagzeuger Angel Smolski (Ex-Raptore) ergänzt, um traditionellen Heavy Metal zu spielen, wie er in der ersten Hälfte der 80er Jahre gespielt wurde

Gitarren? Wer braucht schon Gitarren im Heavy Metal? YEAR OF THE COBRA können locker darauf verzichten - zumindest auf die mit den dünnen Saiten, die vor allem zum Herumfummeln taugen. Frontfrau Amy Tung Barrysmith holt aus ihrem Bass einen derartig fetten Groove und satte Heaviness heraus, die als Raketentreibstoff mehr als ausreichen, um den dröhnenden Zwillingsmotor aus Doom Metal und psychedelischem Sludge ihres selbstbetitelten dritten Albums anzutreiben. "Year of the Cobra" ist eindeutig aus der Saat seiner beiden Vorgänger, "...in the Shadows Below" (2016) und "Ash and Dust" (2019), erwachsen - und übertrifft sie noch. YEAR OF THE COBRA konnten ihr Songwriting verfeinern, kommen noch mehr auf den Punkt und punkten mit eingängigen, aber dennoch superschweren Melodien, die exakt auf die stärksten Aspekte der Band zugeschnitten sind. Nach mehr als 20 Jahren ist das gefeierte vierte Album von NIGHTINGALE, "Alive Again", wieder erhältlich, und zwar remastered (CD/LP) von Songwriter/Frontmann/Produzent Dan Swanö (Opeth, Katatonia, Oceans Of Slumber). Ursprünglich nur auf CD im Jahr 2003 veröffentlicht, beginnt mit "Alive Again" die Entwicklung der härteren Rock-Tendenzen von NIGHTINGALE, die eine Brücke zwischen 70er Jahre Rock, AOR, Prog und Metal schlagen.
