A stunning follow-up to his late 2018 release. Mostly recorded live at the Apollo Hotel Amsterdam in 1991. This is a compilation of the ''Apollo Hotel CD box'', that Ronald made himself, for family and friends.. BIG tip!

From 1986 until 1992, Ronald had a residency in the lounge of Amsterdam’s Apollo Hotel. He would play there 5 days a week, for 5 hours a day. In 1991, throughout several sessions, he recorded himself on a cassette recorder. The recordings were ranging from re-interpreted cover versions to multiple own compositions.

The Apollo was particularly known for its sophisticated and elegant crowd. Guests would come to meet in the lounge to talk business, or end the day with a drink at the bar - dancing was never an option.

Listening to the album, one must wonder how some of this music would go hand in hand with a place like that. It seems Ronald gets lost in music and returns in unequally balanced patterns. Lounge sounds meet drum computer rhythms, punchy baselines, distorted space noises, reoccurring clarinet interludes and improvised piano solos.

Back then, just as now, Ronald never liked to be the center of attention. He simply tried to interact with the surrounding as a provider of the mood - as he explains himself.

This fall „Nice Girl’s“ highly anticipated follow up to „Ipsum“ is finally going to be out. 2 years have passed since „Ipsum" was released, back then the wild 15 track long ride has been paraphrased as „mind boggling, tongue in cheek, spiritual & danceable“ by RA.
Ruby‘s second Album titled „UPP“ is more lighthearted compared to its predecessor as she moves away from the somewhat darker, earthy tones of „Ipsum“ to create a fun, quirky, bleepy and fast universe where pitched vocals meet breakbeats and cosmic melodies.

SAVED! is an apocalyptic revelation on the complex, sometimes ugly, always nonlinear process of healing. Herein, Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter documents an earnest attempt to achieve salvation through the tenets of charismatic Christianity, focusing on the Pentecostal-Holiness Movement, which dictate that one's closeness to God is demonstrated through transcendental personal experience. Sonically and thematically, the record is both a logical conclusion to and a significant departure from Hayter's previous work as Lingua Ignota. Mirroring her personal evolution away from pain, she sheds the moniker that made her successful for its unflinching expression of lived trauma and instead builds herself anew, claiming her full given name, determined to see value within. Musically, while she continues to use historical avant-garde technique and formal constraints superimposed over accessible frameworks, she also strips down her instrumentation and degrades audio to provide a sense of musicological antiquity. Similar to Lingua Ignota, the record is steeped in pathos, but now the wrath of God gives way to His deliverance: "His boundless love shall make you whole."

Für sein Album "Night After Night" hat Komponisten-Star James Newton Howard acht neue konzertante Suiten auf Basis der bekanntesten Melodien seiner poetischen Soundtracks aus seinen Filmen mit Regie-Star M. Night Shyamalan geschrieben. Ein All-Star-Ensemble klassischer Solist*Innen hat die so entstandenen neuen Stücke des mit dem Grammy ausgezeichneten Komponisten in den berühmten Londoner Air Studios aufgenommen: Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Geigerin Hilary Hahn, Cellistin Maya Beiser sowie ein Session-Orchester und der Chor "The New Voice" unter der Leitung von Gavin Greenaway. Zur Gestaltung seiner neuen Suiten hat James Newton Howard zentrale Motive und Themen aus seiner Filmmusik zu "The Sixth Sense" (1999), "Unbreakable" (2000), "Signs" (2002), "The Village" (2004), "Lady in the Water" (2006), "The Happening" (2008), "The Last Airbender" (2010) und "After Earth" (2013) verarbeitet. Das Klavier steht dabei immer im Mittelpunkt. Pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet ist auf allen Stücken zu hören. Hilary Hahn spielt die Solo-Violine, wie bereits auf dem Originalsoundtrack von 2004, in der Suite zu "The Village". Auch Maya Beiser hat das Cello bereits in der Filmmusik von "The Happening" gespielt und tut dies nun ebenfalls in der gleichnamigen Suite. The mysterious German steel pan outfit is working on their fourth studio album now and treat us to another must have two-sider to hold us over while they finish it. This one is sure to become another favorite among DJs worldwide. The A side finds BRSB taking on a huge hit with an eerie cover of Drake's "Hotline Bling". The intro melodica hints at the melody and when the beat drops and the top line plays on the pans all bets are off. The B side is something of a Big Crown family affair as Bacao covers "Murkit Gem" from El Michels Affair's Yeti Season album. Taken from the forthcoming debut EP ‘The Still Brothers’ Firm favourites with BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, Gilles Peterson, Huey Morgan and Lauren Laverne, Brooklyn’s The Still Brothers return with another double header. ‘I Wanna Be With You’ was created by The Still Brothers in New York much like their previous single ‘Wake Up’. Created in isolation, while much of the world was reeling from the effects of Covid and precautions were still in place, the basic tracks of the instrumental were laid down in a light hearted attempt to impart the joy and excitement of a live concert. The song was sent to collaborator Marina B., whose initial impulse inspired her to write the lyrics and an equally exciting melody. ‘Sungalz’ was created in the Summer of 2021 by The Still Brothers in New York. It began as a jam between Andrew and Evan which gradually evolved into a moody and relaxing piece. Marina B. contributed lyrics and a melody which evoke themes of dreaming and self-reflection. ‘I Wanna Be With You’ produced by The Still Brothers and mixed by St. Francis Hotel ‘Sungalz’ produced and mixed by The Still Brothers.

that It's Immaterial "write jolly good pop songs - In fact everything else here is just
as inspired and original as their recent hit."

smorgasbord of styles works, because the band members aren't being eclectic

Experimental Rock / Abstract Hip-Hop / Post Industrial music Pascal Bouaziz used to be the singer and leader of French rock band Mendelson, and "Bruit Noir" (Black Noise) is his side project. This is a completely new venture, a departure from everything he's done over the last 20 years, bringing together hard-hitting lyrics and biting sounds. Boaziz has improvised lyrics over music by drummer Jean-Michel Pirès, who has played with Bed and Married Monk, a blend of the stripped-down clarity of Pérec's A Man Asleep and the stormy punk of Suicide. Crossing the boundaries of the politically incorrect, Bruit Noir offers a raw, hard-hitting album, where the sincerity of the words blends with the intensity of the compositions.

For the last 15 years, Allah-Las have alchemically melded surf rock
washes with folk rock jangle and rock, building up their lauded music
podcast, Reverberation Radio, and record label, Calico Discos, in the
process - But a lot has changed since Matthew Correia (drums/vocals),
Spencer Dunham (bass, guitar, vocals), Miles Michaud (guitar, organ,
vocals), and Pedrum Siadatian (guitar, synth, vocals) first bonded over
psych rock vinyl in the back room at Amoeba Records in the late aughts
Zuma 85 signals the start of a new era for Allah- Las, and finds the band
reinventing itself in defiance of the algorithmic categorization and robotic sterility.
Recorded in the midst of the shift from the Old World to whatever branch of
reality we're on now, it's a return, too: The album will be released October 13th on
their own label, Calico Discos, in partnership with Innovative Leisure, which
released early defining statements like Allah- Las (2012) and Worship The Sun

12 new songs of love and loneliness in the modern world using jangly new wave
glory guitars and west coast classic pop melodies. Recorded skillfully and
completely analog by Michael and Brian D'Addario of The Lemon Twigs at their
studio in the East Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. Beach Boys harmonies
& a myriad of keyboards were added to the Uni Boys Power-Pop and Rock'N'roll
path giving Buy This Now! a fresh new slant.

OVERVIEW: This is essential. We don't just refer to the album title: this new record by multi-instrumentalist and producer Thysenterprise is essential material for lovers of spiritual jazz with a hip-hop edge. As described in the liner notes: "The spirit of Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, and Coltrane permeate the music here. At times, Thysenterprise and his guests meld the influence of the great jazz cannon with the rhythms of hip-hop."

'ESSENTIAL' moves with ease from spiritual sounds to hip-hop-infused head nods. The liner notes by writer John Morrison perfectly encapsulate the type of sonic trip you're in for: "While the improvisational heights that Thysenterprise and crew reach throughout the album owe a debt to hardbop and the avant-garde, there are beats and textures here akin to the work of Karriem Riggins or A Tribe Called Quest. The result is a truly contemporary sound that plays freely within the depths of human feeling."

'ESSENTIAL' is by far Thysenterprise's most personal album to date. From beginning to end, he pays a heartfelt tribute to his late father. The artist revisits and rearranges melodies from iconic jazz records that formed a profound connection between the two of them. Throughout the album, there are nods to songs that were essential for Reinier's musical upbringing. It shows that the saxophonist plays with heart and doesn't shy away from expressing grief and loss. Or as stated in the liner notes: "We play for pleasure, we play to understand ourselves and the world around us, we play to celebrate and remember our loved ones."

Renowned Dutch alto saxophonist Benjamin Herman joins Thysenterprise for intimate call-and-response on "Feedback of Silence." Next to that, Michael Moore graces "Happiness Is a Memory" with a heartfelt bass clarinet solo. Moore is part of the Han Bennink-founded ICP Orchestra. It's safe to say that Thysenterprise builds on that rich lineage of improvisation, playfulness, and distinct originality. On 'ESSENTIAL,' he takes that to new heights. The album comes beautifully packaged as a gatefold 2LP with vinyl-exclusive alternate takes on the D-side.

Demi Riquísimo and his Semi Delicious imprint return for their 15th edition with another versatile, club ready collection of cuts from old & new members of the label family set for a release on the 7th July.

The EP features contributions from regulars Lulah Francs, Jive Talk & label owner Demi alongside debuts from NairLess, Last Magpie, Corbi and Michelle Manetti.

The A-side kicks off with ‘All I Need’, a collaborative track from Demi & Michelle Manetti. A bouncing, progressive house number with some old school Italian flavour that sets the tone nicely for the EP. Corbi’s ‘Kraken’ is up next providing some driving, analog acid squelch to SEMID015. ‘Don't Make Me Wait’ by Lulah Francs & Nebari wraps up the Ice Cream side. Proto house style drum programming and bass are juxtaposed nicely to the psychedelic synth work and impeccable vocals from Lulah creating a unique and versatile track to close out the A-side. The B-side opens with NairLess’ ‘Swell’, a tripped out slice of balearic trance. The EP takes a slightly more heads down turn on ‘Release It’ by Last Magpie. A menacing track driven by a sharp synth line that you’re sure to hear over festival season. Jive Talk’s ‘Wizard’s Slippers’ wraps up the EP in their imitable style. Off kilter drums, unique bass and minimalism with the perfect amount of elements to pique the listener’s interest bringing SEMID015 to a close in style.
