Editrix is a Massachusetts-rooted trio known for their wild, gnarly take on experimental rock. Blending jagged guitar riffs, unpredictable rhythms, and bursts of cartoonish eccentricity, the band creates a sound that's both chaotic and compelling. Composed of singer and guitarist Wendy Eisenberg, drummer Josh Daniel, and bassist Steve Cameron, Editrix thrives on musical risk-taking, often veering into noise-rock territory with a playful edge. On their latest release, The Big E, Editrix unleashes their fangs, resulting in a demonic wall of scuzz. But for as intense as Editrix sounds, the act is convivial and easygoing _ ingrained in deep friendships and speedy, yet jovial recording sessions. Editrix's most pummeling moments seem to be founded on a heartfelt connection, adding emotional resonance to their most feral noise. In the three years since their second LP Editrix II, Eisenberg, Daniel, and Cameron have thrived in individual states of motion _ in and away from music. New York City-based Eisenberg is an accomplished solo artist in the avant-garde realm, receiving recent acclaim for their album Viewfinder (released by American Dreams in 2024). They are also a prolific collaborator, performing in a handful of projects alongside the likes of romantic partner more eaze, Bill Orcutt, David Grubbs, and others. Cameron relocated from Massachusetts to New York City around the same time Editrix II came out, taking a slight step away from music to return to school. Daniel is the only member of Editrix left living in Massachusetts, and performs with the eclectic bands Landowner, Hot Dirt, and The Leafies. Due to Editrix being scattered, the band's new album, The Big E, found them toying with a fresh process. Editrix was quick to write off the idea of collaborating remotely, as the act relishes the warmth of happy accidents that only happen in person. The Big E sparked with Eisenberg, Daniel, and Cameron compiling a list of albums they each admire to establish a self-professed "vibe" up front. King Crimson, My Disco, and Horse Lords were a few key touchstones that shine through, their grounded grooviness balancing erraticism. Eisenberg also found themself infatuated with `70s outlaw country and Van Dyke Parks production. The Big E is titled after a comedic bit between band members, sharing its name with a prominent regional fair in Western Massachusetts, although the title-track aptly features massive E chords. When held up alongside Editrix II _ which found the act toying with Finnish death metal and harsh noise _ The Big E feels settled in its skin. Editrix recorded The Big E with legendary tech death producer Colin Marston (Krallice, Behold_, Dysrhythmia) at his soon-to-be-shuttered studio in Queens. Though these tracks sound toiled over and technical, they are very spontaneous. The majority of The Big E was captured live, with a handful of overdubs added after the fact and came to life over the course of four focused, but rewarding days. Eisenberg uses zen words like "meditative" and "evocative" to describe Editrix's methods, but the end result is crunchy, intricate, and impressively baffling. Easygoing as the band's operation may be, The Big E is a strong jump forward for Editrix inching them towards the center of the avant-rock constellation.

Pluto, although not necessarily one of those bands who spring immediately to mind as having been a seminal influence on the weaving of rock music’s tapestry, remain an excellent, if little-known and much underrated band.

The band’s only album Pluto (originally released on the Dawn label back in November 1971) has, during the latter half of the ‘90s, become a much sought-after item in the ever-expanding underground/progressive sector of the record collectors’ market. Conceived
initially by guitarist Paul Gardner and taking their name from the Disney cartoon character, they were formed in North London in 1970. The key members were Gardner and Alan Warner, two highly experienced campaigners from widely disparate musical backgrounds.

The album is a nice mix of hard rock, progressive rock and blues rock elements. The song writing is pretty solid and there are no fillers included. This lone Pluto LP is easy to recommend for those who like the early 70’s hard rock bands.

This is a tribute & was made during a place of sadness & grief for two amazing humans we lost last years, Rob Maguire on 18 december 2023 & Lea-Rose Besson aka Radical Softness on 15 February 2024.

They were the most unconditional loving persons I ever met, sharing love, breathing love, teaching us so much about being better everyday, leaving us as their mission on Earth were completed.

Still, the ones who stay, stand still. With only our memories to remember their souls, being infused by their aura of life forever. Its from those people when you feel instantly good around, making you feel comfortable, loving yourself more, accepting yourself & being vulnerable while powerful.

From all over the world and especially in Berlin, many of us where impacted so much by their kindness and souls, offering us a space to be heard & seen, when so many of us couldn't. We all know that it was such a privilege to knew them & shared wisdom with and timeless experiences, being kids around old souls, teaching us how to love beyond time & space.

Its from this place that most of the tracks of this EP were created, fighting for resilience through dark times. I felt the need to make them this tribute while healing from pain to find love in myself and others. Being grateful for everything that happens in life even if it never last.

Gaman, from the Japanese means, perseverance. That illustrate never giving up on ourselves, our dreams, our life, keep shining one day after the other, because being alive is the most unique privilege we will ever have.

While everything is temporary, music still belong, making them heard a little bit longer through vibrations.

Ungläubig wurde ich gefragt, ob ich die tatsächlich noch nicht mal live gesehen hätte. Es schien, als hätte der Biermetalgott sein Prüfzeichen schon vor Jahren an No Shelter vergeben. Und so steht also fest: hier kann nix schiefgehen. Und so überzeugt auch "Remission/Resolve" nach "Rest In Death" (2020) und "Erasing Life" (2022) in allen Belangen - wenn man ein Faible für Bands wie Trap Them, Nails oder Entombed hat, wird man hier sicherlich ein diebisches Grinsen ins Gesicht bekommen. Aufgenommen in der Tonmeisterei hämmern No Shelter in 12 Akten mit dem ganz großen Holzhammer auf unseren Nervenenden rum - es finden tatsächlich ziemlich viele Spielarten modernerer Extremmusik ihr Plätzchen im Oevre der Jungs - langsam, zerstörerisch kaputt, Malmend, rasend, im D-Beat-Galopp fräsen sie sich in den Gehörgang. Es ist eine tiefe Verbeugung vor den End 80er/Anfang 90er Schwedenmetal-Freunden, ein Hohenlied auf den HM2-Zerrer, der eine ganze Generation junger Deathmetaler in Schwingung gebracht hat.

Featuring some of GG's best work like "Scars on My Body, Scabs on My Dick" and a cover of Charles Manson's "Garbage Dump". His second effort for Homestead was 1988's Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies, a fan favorite that introduced some of the most popular numbers in his later repertoire.

Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet (WMQ) - one of the most charismatic groups on the European jazz scene - returns with Live Spirit I, a new album recorded at the iconic Witold Lutoslawski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw. The release features four brand-new compositions alongside electrifying new takes on WMQ classics, including a stunning 20-minute version of "Polka", the title track from their best-selling record.

Alice is a vocal harmony trio made up of three persons, joined by a cheap synth and limited virtuosity. Together, they craft a kind of future folklore that’s part funny, part apocalyptic — half-soft, half-harsh, half-sad, half-simple, half-complex, half-controlled, half-Yvonne Harder, half-Sarah André, half-Lisa Harder.

Since their last album L’Oiseau Magnifique, Alice have spent time on the road — in cars, in trains, out in the open. Accustomed to writing outdoors, they slowly stitched together a collection of new songs. After two years of performing in clubs, bars, stairwells, carpentry workshops, activist agricultural fairs and roadside shoulders, they took their Oiseau Magnifique just about everywhere. Reloaded, originally released in 1995, was produced by Gossard and multiple Grammy winner Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine). The album’s first single, “Dizzy,” was featured both in the film The Basketball Diaries, and on its soundtrack—sitting alongside tracks from The Doors, Soundgarden, Jim Carroll, and The Cult. CMJ New Music Monthly wrote that the “alterna-rock promise of Wonderful Virus—their debut in no way hints at the leaps and bounds by which the band seems to have grown, or the unexpected paths Reloaded follows.” Finally, 30 years later, Reloaded gets reintroduced, remastered on white vinyl and is also included on the double CD Dizzy: The Medicine Label Anthology. Its missing status on wax has been rectified, and Reloaded is ready to be loaded onto your turntable.

You are The Kid, a lone warrior on a journey to cross the Wasteland in search of hope. What you will find on your way, however, is a land riddled with scoundrels and creeps, which you’ll have to go through – sometimes quite literally – to survive. Propelling this madness is an incredible soundtrack by Le Matos returning to the wasteland they helped create in 2015. They cherry-pick influences from the best of electronic music from the past forty years; John Carpenter, Vangelis, and Tangerine Dream are all touchstones, but so are Daft Punk or Justice, all put through an 80's synthpop blender. Australia’s Winston Surfshirt shares his fourth studio album, WINSTON, gifted to the world on July 25 via Sweat It Out. The semi self-titled record is complete with 11-tracks of doting adoration and tidbits of love told through the playful, unique sonic fusions that Winston does so well. Seamlessly sliding between smooth R&B tones and hip hop inflections to juiced up disco-house, WINSTON delivers an homage to his foundational sound while refining a new chapter in territory untouched. As the name suggests - this record is Winston to its core, more than ever before.

As part of Ace 50 BGP has hooked up with our old friends at Concord Music to reissue one of the most important albums in our story. In 1987 as the dance jazz scene morphed into acid jazz Billy Hawks ‘Oh Baby (I Believe I’m Losing You)’ was filling the dance floors where either Gilles Peterson or Baz Fe Jazz were playing.

The Prestige Records album, “Heavy Soul!”, that featured the track, was impossible to find, and frustrated DJs were desperately trying to find a copy. BGP - the Ace label that the two DJs helmed - reissued the album and put the in-demand track onto a 12 inch single. With supply sufficient it became a club smash, crossing over to become a mod classic and one of the most important cuts from our scene.

In the ensuing years the track's status has remained undimmed and the album has never turned up in significant numbers, and yet it has never been reissued since. With an attention to detail that has always been the Ace way, we have carefully mastered the record to be as close as possible to the sound of the original Van Gelder mastering of 1967, and created and accurate representation of the album and label cover art.

Hawks never lived to be rediscovered, but through our musical detective work we tracked down his brother and found out as much of his story as feasible and we also unearthed a couple of pictures. The Virginian born organist with the amazing voice was a fixture on the North-Eastern lounge bar circuit, which was the entertainment backbone off Black American music at the time, and his full story is told on the illustrated inner sleeve that comes with this release

Originally released In July 1970 “Wil Malone”, a typically idiosyncratic supper-club/chamber pop take on the singer/songwriter genre that was so in vogue at the time. Featuring such earnest/facetious nuggets as 'I Could Write A Book' and 'At The Silver Slipper', the album has many admirers these days.
The original release is considered a rare collector's item, with some original copies fetching high prices. This reissue on Morgan Blue Town is available as a limited edition 180-gram yellow coloured vinyl pressing.

999 were one of the true punk rock originals came together in November 1976. 999 quickly became a cornerstone of the scene in the UK, releasing their debut single ‘I’m Alive’ in July 1977.  Within a couple of years, they were touring the USA extensively, building up a significant following Stateside and earning them some action on the US Billboard Album Chart. Throughout the late 70s and early 80s, a series of classic singles alongside the albums ‘999’, ‘Separates’, ‘The Biggest Prize in Sport,’ and ‘Concrete’ kept the band’s star in the ascendancy.
‘Live at The Basins Nightclub’ recorded in June 1987 catches the band firing on all cylinders.

One of the biggest underground rap songs of the 2010s, “Look at Wrist” (ft. iLoveMakonnen & KEY!) is the viral internet sensation that made Awful Records and Father some of the most exciting names in hip-hop. The song took the media by storm, earning praise from publications like The Fader, Pitchfork, and Billboard, and capturing the attention of stars like Tyler, the Creator and Drake.

Ten years later, Father is celebrating the single that launched his career with a special edition picture disc featuring “Nokia” (ft. iLoveMakonnen & Richposlim) on the B-side—a track that has never been released on vinyl before. The record includes Father’s signature artwork on the front and an homage to the Nokia cellphone on the back. This picture disc is a must-have collector’s item for rap fans. Limited to 500 units.

For our 100th Eccentric Soul 45, Numero returns to our Ohio roots with three replica 45s from the Capsoul universe. Marion Black’s timeless two-sider “Who Knows” b/w “Go On Fool” made a few blipsupon its 1970 release, but has taken on a life of its own soundtracking prestige TV and car commercials around the globe and finally going gold after 65 years. We discovered Ron Harrington’s “Because You’re Mine” demo amongst the Capsoul tapes, a demo cut for founder Bill Moss that never escaped greater Columbus. The mid-tempo harmony joint “It Happened To Me Again” adorns the flip, with a lo-fi funk backbeat tossed in for good measure. For our 100th Eccentric Soul 45, Numero returns to our Ohio roots with three replica 45s from the Capsoul universe. Marion Black’s timeless two-sider “Who Knows” b/w “Go On Fool” made a few blipsupon its 1970 release, but has taken on a life of its own soundtracking prestige TV and car commercials around the globe and finally going gold after 65 years. We discovered Ron Harrington’s “Because You’re Mine” demo amongst the Capsoul tapes, a demo cut for founder Bill Moss that never escaped greater Columbus. The mid-tempo harmony joint “It Happened To Me Again” adorns the flip, with a lo-fi funk backbeat tossed in for good measure. Sometimes when artists from different musical worlds come together, they create something that feels revolutionary. SAMANTHA E ADRIAN, the collaborative album by Brazilian actress and singer Samantha Schmütz and American composer ADRIAN YOUNGE, captures that magic by blending musical influences from Brazil and the United States with a deep, soulful take on the '70s. Bubba Ho-Tep is a 2002 American Comedy Horror film written, co-produced, and directed by Don Coscarelli (Phantasm). It stars Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead 1 & 2, Army of Darkness) as Sebastian Haff, a man residing in a nursing home who claims to be the real Elvis Presley.

The film also stars Ossie Davis as Jack, a black man who claims to be John F. Kennedy. While the novella of the same name by Joe R. Lansdale and the film revolve around an ancient Egyptian mummy terrorizing a retirement home, Bubba Ho-Tep also deals with the deeper theme of aging, identity, mortality, and existentialism. The film also features a cameo by Reggie Bannister from Coscarelli's Phantasm series. Buoyed by the eclectic cast of musicians, from the undeniably potent collaboration with The Assembly of Light Choir as led by now longtime The Body collaborator Chrissy Wolpert, to guest contributors that include members of Dead Times, Fang Island, Lichens (aka Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe), Human Beast, and many more. Manslaughter 777 are powerhouses of forward-thinking rhythmic music and production. The duo, composed of drummers/programmers Lee Buford (The Body, Sightless Pit, Dead Times, Everyone Asked About You) and Zac Jones (MSC, Nothing, Braveyoung), combine their prowess as percussionists and producers into beat-centric music that delights in turning unexpected sounds into razor sharp rhythms. Buford and Jones, along with engineer/producer Seth Manchester of Machines with Magnets (The Body, Model Actriz, Liturgy), have collaborated for nearly two decades, consistently shattering genre boundaries and redefining the role of the studio in the process. "Unsent Letters" - ungeschriebene Briefe: liegengeblieben im Schreibtischwirrwarr oder der "Wenn, dann da-"Schublade bezeugen sie vergangene Lebensphasen, regnerische Nachmittage, Zweifel, Experiment und unfertige Gedankengänge. An den Rändern gekräuselt und angeraut, lange vergessen, kommt irgendwann der Zeitpunkt, an dem wir sie doch wieder wie einen Schatz heben und entdecken: hier gibt es Geschichten zu erzählen. So oder so ähnlich erging es Pete Astor. Der ist Musiker, Autor und Dozent. Er war Frontmann der Bands The Loft und The Weather Prophets auf dem Label Creation Records und schrieb Songs, die den Sound des Labels und das aufkommende Indie-Genre maßgeblich prägten. Seitdem hat er eine langjährige Solokarriere verfolgt und Musik auf verschiedenen Labels wie Matador, Heavenly, Warp, EMI und Fortuna Pop veröffentlicht. Er ist Senior Lecturer in Music an der University of Westminster. Neben umfangreichen Tourneen produziert er auch gemeinsam mit David Sheppard als Ellis Island Sound Platten und veröffentlicht sein Spoken-Word-Elektro-Pop-Projekt The Attendant zusammen mit Ian Button (Go Kart Mozart, Death in Vegas) auf dessen Label Faux Lux. Seit 2017 ist Astor beim angesehenen Label Tapete Records unter Vertrag, das auch Künstler wie Robert Forster, Lloyd Cole und Comet Gain beherbergt - neben vielen anderen großartigen Acts. 2025 ist ein Jahr, in dem Pete Astor seine erste Band The Loft wieder aufleben ließ. Die Band hatte sich 1985 getrennt und nun gerade ihr Debütalbum "Everything Changes Everything Stays the Same" fertiggestellt. Wie der Titel andeutet, ist die Band einerseits in der Vergangenheit verwurzelt, blickt aber unbestreitbar nach vorn in die Zukunft. "Unsent Letters" stammt aus einem ähnlichen Kontext: Es enthält Songs, die Astor bereits während seiner Zeit bei The Loft schrieb, die die Band aber nie spielte - zusammen mit Liedern aus seiner vierzigjährigen Karriere, die nun endlich das Licht der Welt erblicken.
