Featuring virtuosos of "Contemporary Armenian" music such as Bei Ru, Lara Sarkissian and Armen Ra, as well as shedding a light on the independent music scene in Yerevan, "YERAZ" is an exercise in ethnomusicology. Classical songs and instruments collide with the full spectrum of electronic-based music from ambient to techno and everything in between, building a mosaic inside of a specific cultural context. The double-LP is split between Angeleno artists (Sides A and B) incorporating folk instruments and melodies to reinterpret the "Contemporary Armenian" idea outside of the established pop landscape, and Yerevani artists (Sides C and D) emulating popular musical trends of the West through their native lexicons. Critique will be donating 100% of its net profits from sales of YERAZ to Kooyrigs, a non-profit organization providing resources for women and transparent aid to the Armenian homeland.

Here, the narrative pivots toward groove and immersion between Detroit-rooted sounds, jazz-infused flair, glitchy futurism, and deep dub meditation. This chapter highlight the label’s love for movement, texture, and long-form atmosphere.

Side A opens with Fireground’s “Aquaria”, a sexy, bouncing techno cut carrying old-school Detroit spirit and harmonic fluidity: funky yet refined, shaped by the Italian duo’s live-set mentality, live improvisation and vintage synthesisers. Human Safari’s “Havanas” follows, merging jazz and techno through a standout trumpet solo and lush groove work, carving out a vibrant, genre-crossing mood that feels both bold and effortless. Closing the side, 1morning’s “You Heard Me The First Time” delivers early-2000s techno DNA with a modern edge: glitchy rhythms, unpredictable sequencing, and a playful sense of tension-and-release.

Flipping to Side B, Macedonian master Stojche leads with “Perpetual Sin”, a dub techno lesson in restraint: evolving through spacious layering and emotional subtlety until it fully envelops the room. The record closes with Z.I.P.P.O & Mareena’s “Moonchild”, a tribal, dub-infused deep techno immersion where percussive drive meets meditative energy—an internal journey built for big systems and late hours.

'Honesty Flowers' is the fourth studio album from Italian multi-instrumentalist Alessio Ferarri under the Upupayāma moniker. An epic double album set due for release May 29th 2026 on Fuzz Club, 'Honesty Flowers' finds Upupayāma's ever mind-blowing brew of organic psychedelic rock meets global grooves at its most percussive, lively and distorted. Equally hedonistic and heady, it courses through rhythmic funk grooves, doubled-down scorched fuzz riffing, winding motorik jams, tranquil drones and pastoral acid-folk across its seventy minute run time. A six-piece band live, where things take a more ever-evolving improvisation-based approach (see their recent 'Live At Fuzz Club Festival '25' LP), on the recordings Ferarri writes, plays and records everything himself – guitars, keys, flute, sitar, and an arsenal of percussion all feature. Never not working on new music, Ferarri started laying down these new tracks in his home barn studio in a small mountain village overlooking the city of Parma before its 2024 predecessor 'Mount Elephant' even hit the racks. The result was mixed by Chris Smith at Kluster Sounds (Kikagaku Moyo, Wax Machine) and mastered by Joseph Carra (King Gizzard, Babe Rainbow, ORB) On the new record, Ferarri says: "Honesty Flowers was born from listening to lots of funk music from all over the world, lots and lots of African music, and from listening to myself as I spent whole nights playing all kinds of percussion instruments. I would fall into a sort of trance and play the same rhythm for hours on congas or on a djembe. It's an album that was born above all from the beauty of being able to narrate the unknown and recognise yourself in it, which could translate into telling stories and bringing them to life.

Arriving fully formed, virtually without warning – no prior demo recordings existed, at least not publicly – this Swiss quartet evinced an ages-old sound that was wise (and wizened) well beyond their young years. Already, MEGATON SWORD knew the mystery of steel…and wielded it with a startling confidence. And no one knew just how high they could fly, only that they were just getting started. Now, with the arrival of their imminent debut album, Blood Hails Steel – Steel Hails Fire, MEGATON SWORD are marching into the halls of greatness, with no one to stop them. Singer/Songwriter Joshua Ray Walker’s made a name for himself with poignant, human portraits of flawed, fascinating characters. Now, on his latest album, Ain’t Dead Yet, Walker’s telling a more personal story – his own. “Human beings are super multi-faceted, and part of the reason I wrote about characters in the first place was because I could explore things about myself that I didn't feel comfortable exploring if I were to admit that it was really about me,” Walker says. “All my songs are about parts of me, I just didn't try to stick them on another fictional character this time.” Beneath the album’s flippant title resides some of Walker’s heaviest storytelling yet. Three years ago, when he started writing Ain’t Dead Yet (his sixth studio album, to be released May 29 via Thirty Tigers/East Dallas Records), Walker hadn’t yet received the cancer diagnosis that rearranged and threatened his life (he currently has a clean bill of health). But that year was still uncommonly fraught with mental, physical, and career stresses. Pulling the songs out of the can to finalize them for the album – including re-writing and re-working almost all the songs – Walker, who was then undergoing and recovering from cancer treatment, was surprised by their prescience.

Ihr zweites Studioalbum, „The Bestiary“, erschien Ende 2025 und wurde von Kritikern und Fans hoch
gelobt, wodurch die Band in bisher unbekannte Bereiche der Heavy-Musik vorstieß.

Paul McCartney kehrt mit seinem 18. Studioalbum The Boys Of Dungeon Lane zurück und präsentiert
damit sein bisher persönlichstes Werk. Das Album vereint seltene, bisher ungeteilte Erinnerungen mit neuen
Liebesliedern und gibt intime Einblicke in seine Kindheit im Nachkriegs Liverpool sowie frühe Begegnungen
mit John Lennon und George Harrison. Als einer der prägendsten Songwriter unserer Zeit blickt er auf die
Jahre zurück, die sein Leben und die moderne Popkultur formten.
Der Albumtitel verweist auf die „Dungeon Lane“, einen Ort seiner Jugend, an dem McCartney viel Zeit
verbrachte und der für die Zeit vor dem Ruhm steht. Inspiriert von der ersten Single Veröffentlichung „Days
We Left Behind“ fängt das Album die emotionale Essenz dieser Erinnerungen ein.
Die physische Veröffentlichung erscheint am 29. Mai auf Vinyl und CD und erzählt mit großer Ehrlichkeit
die Geschichte hinter einer der bedeutendsten Ikonen der Musikgeschichte.

Das neue Projekt von Joe Lovano trägt den programmatischen Namen Paramount Quartet – und tatsächlich
versteht der Saxofonist diese Formation als künstlerischen Meilenstein. „Mit diesem Quartett sind wir an
einem einzigartigen Ort angekommen“, erklärt Lovano. „Es ist etwas ganz Besonderes, etwas Neues. Und
diese ‚cats‘, sie spielen mit einem globalen Bewusstsein.“ Zu diesen „cats“ zählen der Gitarrist Julian Lage,
der Bassist Asante Santi Debriano sowie der Schlagzeuger Will Calhoun, der auch durch seine Arbeit mit
der Rockband Living Colour bekannt wurde. Gemeinsam schlagen sie ein neues, abenteuerliches Kapitel
in Lovanos weit gespanntem Œuvre auf. Anlässlich der Tournee, die der Aufnahme vorausging, würdigte
die Financial Times das Konzert in London mit den Worten: „Lovanos jüngstes Projekt, das Paramount
Quartet, fügt einem modernistischen Kern Anklänge von Americana hinzu und erkundet dieses Terrain mit
Freiheit, Fokus und Feuer.“ Die klangliche Palette des Albums ist ebenso facettenreich wie die beteiligten
Musiker unterschiedlicher Generationen: kraftvoll und extrovertiert in manchen Momenten, intim und
zart in anderen. Neben Eigenkompositionen Lovanos finden sich eindrucksvolle Interpretationen von „Lady
Day“ – einer Hommage von Wayne Shorter an Billie Holiday – sowie von „First Song“ des Bassisten Charlie
Haden. Aufgenommen wurde das Album im Februar 2025 in Südfrankreich, produziert von Manfred Eicher.

Singer-Songwriter Kurt Vile meldet sich mit seinem zehnten Album zurück – dem dritten bei Verve Records.
Der Titel ist eine Liebeserklärung an seine Heimatstadt, in der er nach wie vor lebt und einen Großteil seiner
Musik aufnimmt. Stilistisch bewegt sich Vile zwischen Indie-Rock, Folk und psychedelisch angehauchtem
Lo-Fi. Bekannt wurde er zunächst als Mitglied von The War on Drugs, bevor er sich erfolgreich als Solokünstler etablierte. Seine Songs wirken oft wie lose Gedankensplitter, getragen von repetitiven Gitarrenfiguren
und seiner entspannt-nasalen Stimme.
Musikalisch knüpft “Philadelphia’s been good to me“ an Viles charakteristischen Sound an: klirrende
Gitarren, hypnotische Passagen und Texte, die zwischen rau und melancholisch pendeln. Dabei zeigt sich
ein Künstler, der sich trotz langjähriger Karriere eine bemerkenswerte Eigenständigkeit bewahrt hat. Vile
selbst versteht das Album als Rückbesinnung – entstanden größtenteils im eigenen Studio und geprägt von
einem warmen, unmittelbaren Klangbild.

Don Williams, bekannt als „The Gentle Giant“, steht wie kaum ein anderer für die ruhige, zeitlose Seite
der Country-Musik. Mit seiner warmen, unaufgeregten Stimme und einer beeindruckenden Karriere voller
Klassiker hat er Generationen geprägt – Songs wie „Tulsa Time“ oder „It Must Be Love“ sind bis heute
fest im kulturellen Gedächtnis verankert und reichen weit über die Grenzen des Genres hinaus.
Mit Epilogue: The Cellar Tapes erscheint nun eine besondere Sammlung bislang unveröffentlichter Aufnahmen, die einen intimen, fast schon privaten Blick auf sein Schaffen erlaubt. Die Songs tragen diese
unverwechselbare Gelassenheit in sich, die Williams so einzigartig gemacht hat, und fühlen sich gleichzeitig
wie ein leiser, würdevoller Nachklang seiner Karriere an. Ein Album, das weniger laut überzeugen will,
sondern durch seine Ehrlichkeit und Wärme – und genau darin seine größte Stärke findet.

Ital Tek's new album 'Mind Abandon' takes a different direction from his recent run of releases, embracing a more human touch in contrast to the dense, world-building drone of his previous albums and film work. This time, he set out to compose away from the computer as much as possible _ working more instinctively and allowing himself to get lost in the music. Alan found the most natural starting point was his own voice, processing vocals into shifting pads and textures. His guitar sits at the centre of much of the record, joined by live, hand-played percussion and effects, often captured in quick, spontaneous performances. The result is an album of spacious, contrasting dynamics, with textures pressing against each other and rhythmic elements fighting to surface from glutinous, layered sound. "It feels like a very introspective record for me," Alan says. "Losing my sense of identity/self as part of the process - the increasing effort to calm my mind and embrace humanity/imperfection in the music. This path made sense as a jumping off point for a lot of the music to be vocal or guitar experiments - singing in ideas and then processing to become less identifiable." The album feels carved and three-dimensional, weaving industrial and shoegaze influences with the darker edges of post-rock. Subtly embedded in its architecture are traces of dubstep dynamics _ a sound that remains part of Alan's DNA. Opening track "The Ice Is Thin" is driven almost entirely by live guitar and keyboard, awash in reverb. On "A Hidden Path," everything apart from the drums stems from processed vocals and guitar, with a fleeting appearance from his daughter's toy ukulele. It unfolds like the beginning of a journey _ vast and cinematic _ nodding to the widescreen tension of Ennio Morricone before building into a towering wall of noise. "Killswitch" disorients with pounding kick drums crafted from twanging acoustic guitar, pushing through layers of static-charged chords. "Undertow" spirals outward on looping guitar figures set against a pulsing Rhodes. "Misted," built around a rare four-to-the-floor beat, uses guitar as a driving rhythmic device, opening with a bassline that wouldn't feel out of place on a The Cure record. "Imagined Landscape" introduces icy keyboard textures that foreshadow the dark closer, "The Pull," where an arpeggiated bassline reminiscent of DAF underpins unnerving, internalised sound design that feels as though it's scratching from within. Mind Abandon closes on a heavy, stalking note _ fresh sounds drawn from the body and the heart.

Nachpressung. 2025 und sechs Jahre nach ihrer letzten Veröffentlichung meldeten sich Seattles Great Grandpa mit "Patience, Moonbeam" zurück - ein ehrgeiziges und tief bewegendes Album, das beinahe nicht zustande gekommen wäre. Ein Jahrzehnt des gemeinsamen Musizierens pausierte, während die Bandmitglieder sich in verschiedene Richtungen entfernten, aber wie bei jeder guten Beziehung, die auf gegenseitiger Liebe, Vertrauen und einer gemeinsamen Geschichte aufbaut, fand das Quintett wieder zusammen, verwarf die meisten Ideen für Songs, die sie zusammengestellt hatten, und begannen die Arbeit an ihrem bisher besten Album. "Patience, Moonbeam" entstand langsam durch einen großzügigen Demoing-Prozess. Mit weniger Zwängen und mehr Kontrolle hatte die Band die Möglichkeit, zu experimentieren und sich Zeit zu nehmen. Das Ergebnis ist eine Sammlung, die sich selbstbewusst und vollständig anfühlt und anhört. "Patience" basiert auf einer ,Politik der offenen Tür" beim Schreiben und Aufnehmen, "Moonbeam" ist das Ergebnis der nahtlosen Zusammenarbeit aller fünf Mitglieder, die zur Entstehung des Albums beigetragen haben. Das Ergebnis ist eine Platte, die wie ein Pendel von schwer bis zart, von verspielt bis gewichtig schwingt und eine klangliche Illustration der Schmerzen und Freuden des Lebens in elf Songs. Was unter dem Ansatz einer Küchenschüssel leiden könnte kommt stattdessen brillant zusammen, ein Beweis für die musikalische und spirituelle Verbindung der Band. Mit "Patience, Moonbeam", hat Great Grandpa ein triumphales Dokument darüber, was passiert, wenn deine Mitmusiker zu deiner gewählten Familie werden.

Kaum zu fassen - Gimp Fist sind nun schon seit 21 Jahren eine feste Größen der britischen Oi!-Szene. Das Trio hat sich als eine der angesehensten Street-Punk-Bands Großbritanniens etabliert, mit einem einzigartigen Songwriting-Stil fernab der üblichen Klischees, treffsicherem Gespür für mitreißende Songs und eigenem Sound, in Europa ebenso beliebt wie in Großbritannien. Und ihre Street-Punk-Hymnen füllen jedes Jahr den Empress Ballroom mit einer Kapazität von 3.000 Plätzen beim Rebellion Festival in Blackpool. Die Band stammt ursprünglich aus Bishop Auckland, County Durham, und hat seit ihren Anfängen im Jahr 2005 elf Alben, ein halbes Dutzend Singles und drei EPs veröffentlicht. Auch wenn es nicht immer leicht ist auch Anerkennung bei der größtenteils auf London fokussierten Musikpresse zu finden, haben sie doch eine treue Anhängerschaft in UK und ganz Europa gewonnen und sind vor allem dem Publikum des Rebellion Festivals bekannt, wo sie seit 2008 jedes Jahr auftreten. Zwei Jahre nach dem letzten Album "Losing Streak" erscheint nun das 12. Album "Take the Power Back", produziert von Jamie Wilson, mit insgesamt 15 brandneuen Titeln. "Wir haben das Gefühl, dass wir auf diesem Album viele unserer Einflüsse und Stile miteinander verschmolzen haben, ohne dabei das typische Gimp-Fist-Feeling zu verlieren", sagt Sänger und Gitarrist Jonny.
