Steve Lawler - Crazy Dream

When Steve Lawler first sent us 'Crazy Dream,' he told us that he had made the record 'specifically with Turbo in mind,' thus sending us on a quasi-lucid journey down a rabbit hole of self-discovery from which we have only recently emerged. Most labels would simply talk up a nuts-to-the-wall floor-filler with a killer 'White Horse' bassline from an acid house legend and be done with it, but the fact remains that if we forgo an opportunity to learn more about ourselves as dance music imprint, we are doing our fans a disservice whether they could possibly be expected to realize it or not. We hired a board-licensed Forensic Poet to parse the track's lyrical references to nothing being 'quite as it seems,' 'feeling naked and confused,' and rising above 'the push and shove.' What was he trying to tell us The poet assured us that all it meant was that Lawler admires Turbo and thought the track would be a good fit, and that we should put our clothes back on, wipe the confused looks from our faces, and stop pushing and shoving one another because everything was exactly as it seemed. We paid him his $25 and did as we were told. For the remixes, we took a track made especially for us and enlisted a diverse cast of Turbo All-Stars to spin it into a release for everyone, a proprietary practice we call 'Human Alchemy: The Future of Generosity™.' Finland's Jori Hulkkonen, Belgium's Charlotte de Witte, and Argentina's DJs Pareja trace a beautiful global triangle for lovers of acid bangers, stripped-down techno, and tripped-out weirdness, respectively. At Turbo, giving party people what they need is more than just a crazy dream. It's a crazy reality.

The seminal 1994 double album by the original PAINKILLER line-up BILL LASWELL, JOHN ZORN and MICK HARRIS on vinyl for the first time! Avant-jazz, grindcore, dub and ambient melt into eerie tracks of haunting atmospheres.

When PAINKILLER started in 1991, their first two albums "Guts Of A Virgin" and "Buried Secrets" (both released on extreme metal label Earache) were heavy attacks blending grindcore and free jazz that brought together the musical backgrounds of the three protagonists: drummer MICK HARRIS had just left grindcore legend NAPALM DEATH, JOHN ZORN explored new extremities with his NAKED CITY project while BILL LASWELL had as a member of roaring free jazz quartet LAST EXIT ( PETER BRÖTZMANN / SONNY SHARROCK / RONALD SHANNON JACKSON) proven that he was not only a visionary producer but also an accomplished bassist. But it is their 1994 double album "Execution Ground" that remains the opus magnum of the brilliant trio: ZORN's unmistakable shrieking saxophone, HARRIS' pounding drums and LASWELL's growling sub-bass lines were given heavy mixing desk treatment, resulting in extended tracks that are no less intense than their early works but display the full range of the musicians' skills. Soaked with reverb and delay, avant-jazz, grindcore, dub and ambient melt into eerie tracks of haunting atmospheres - even more so in the ambient versions of disc 2. Mastered and cut by RASHAD BECKER at D&M Berlin, "Execution Ground" is now available on vinyl for the very first time as 2x 180gr LP incl. a download code and insert in a limited edition of 500 items.

Defined as an independent entity, drawing its inspiration from the deconstructed walls of an imaginary and utopian society where music is king and artist is servant, Forsaken Cell is a Paris and Lyon based structure composed of a small ravers community, aimed to show an indie, radical and experimental face of the french underground scene. After showing a raw and anarchic vision of techno with Deikean's debut release, the Forsaken Cell keeps on exposing a radical and experimental face with, this time, a brighter and oniric aspect. This EP, debut of TheSolid System, presents itself as a fine mix of industrial and psychedelic textures inspired by the diversity and eclecticism ubiquitous in the rave culture. Thus this character, as discreet as he is, shows up at the scene: naked, assuming from the outset to be as much influenced by the bass music sharp rhythmic and dusty textures of industrial dub techno, that warm colorings and transcendent sounds of psychedelic music.

Kill Frenzy, our Belgian booty-loving Jean-Claude Van Damme look-alike returns with his latest ode to the female form. It never ceases to amaze us that the crew member with the tightest pants consistently turns in some of nastiest ghetto funk.

Whilst radio producers will be quaking in their boots, fans of his crunkin' creations will be singing 'Tongue n Lick' for months to come. A summer hit for the dirtybird crew its now set to make your winter walls sweat. Taking an even heavier path, Kill Frenzy brings together classical piano, lazer-edged synth, marching snares and a bulbous bassline on the epic, Naked Piano.
