Featuring a balanced mix of inspired originals and well-chosen covers, Carey’s fourth studio record has only grown in stature as new generations discover its magic. This new limited edition box set celebrates Carsten Nicolai’s beloved interactive installation, bausatz noto, currently featured at The Vinyl Factory: Reverb exhibition at 180 Studios.

The exhibition features an expanded version of Nicolai’s artwork bausatz noto (1998) – an interactive piece centered around four Technics SL-1210 turntables and a selection of colored vinyl records. Visitors are invited to select and play the records, each of which has been cut with 9 or 8 unique locked grooves on each side. As Nicolai explains, “the different colors indicate different sound material, from the very abstract to the graphic” that users can loop and layer to create infinite permutations and combinations.

Previously released as a sold-out signed edition with a hardback book, this 2024 box set edition brings the installation into your own space. Comprised of twelve 10” colored vinyl records, each featuring 18 or 16 unique locked grooves (9 or 8 per side), the concept remains the same: Nicolai provides the tools to build your own soundscapes.

The records are sleeved in twelve custom-made archive folders, housed in a handmade box with artwork. Limited to 1000 copies worldwide.

Peter Brötzmann: tarogato, contra-alto clarinet, bass saxophone Paal Nilssen-Love: drums, gongs, percussion 2nd Volume of the perfect pairing Brötzmann & Nilssen-Love, recorded at Zuiderpershuis in Antwerp, August 2015. The music is less frenzied and aggressive than we're used to, as the musicians shared their exploration of new tools with a more contemplative approach. To be sure, both Brötzmann and Nilssen-Love summon the usual energy here and there, but it's a genuine revelation to hear them feel out new sounds in real-time, whether it's the former caressing the rheumy nasality of the contra-alto clarinet, or the latter reveling in the sustained resonance of his new gongs. Still, even if they were trying out new tools, their rapport and level of engagement was just as strong and deep as ever. Colliding schedules prevented them from ever wrapping up the production on the album, but they began planningfor it during the pandemic. Sadly, it fell to Nilssen-Love to shepherd the project at home, but it was worth the wait. This duo album represents a major statement from both musicians. Ashram Sun’, Surya Botofasina's much-anticipated album follows his hugely acclaimed debut ‘Everyone’s Children’ and his first offering since his contribution to ‘New Blue Sun’ and global touring alongside André 3000. It is an ode to Surya’s upbringing and musical teachings in the tradition of Swamini Turiyasangitananda - aka Alice Coltrane, by the spiritual jazz colossus Herself, at Her Sai Anantam Ashram in California. ‘Ashram Sun’ is a deep listening, spiritual masterpiece with close collaborators Carlos Niño and Nate Mercereau, and is produced by the prolific Carlos Niño, whose vision has become a pivotal point for contemporary progressive jazz music.

Ashram Sun features appearances from musical luminaries, including multi-instrumentalist Angel Bat Dawid, Los Angeles saxophonist Randal Fisher, vocalist Mia Doi Todd, as well as collaborations with vocalist MidnightRoba and acclaimed harpist and vocalist Radha Botofasina, among others. The album continues to expand on and conversate with the innovative spiritual-jazz configurations of recent works by Shabaka Hutchings, André 3000 and Carlos Niño —all of which Surya plays on. This evolution follows from his debut album ‘Everyone’s Children’, also produced by Niño, which was one of the earliest offerings of this fresh, spiritual approach. As the keyboardist on André 3000’s New Blue Sun and an integral member of André’s touring group, Surya has already directly brought the legacy of Alice Coltrane/Turiyasangitananda into this rich new current in creative music.

The music on Ashram Sun is tuned into these wavelengths, consolidating a new jazz lineage with energies directly from the source. The album blends improvisation in the creative music tradition with washes of cleanly spiritualised keyboard work, atmospheric percussion, and sanctified vocalisation. As Surya Botofasina explains, "Swamini (Alice Coltrane) and the Ashram have taught me that the only place worth going to, is within… I am always going to be an Ashram Sun."

Acclaimed musicians Nitai Hershkovits and Daniel Dor will release their highly anticipated album, “The Garden Suite”, on Circus Company. Following their previous collaboration on Daniel Dor’s debut album, “Four Petals”, this new project sees the duo exploring uncharted musical territory with an innovative, Moog-based sound.
Inspired by the groundbreaking work of synth pioneer Malcolm Cecil, “The Garden Suite” marries electronic textures with the richness of orchestral sound. Drawing from a vast range of influences, including the works of Benjamin Britten and Fredrick Delius, Hershkovits and Dor meticulously composed each track, layering Moog synthesizer melodies to emulate various instruments from the orchestra - from French horn to percussion, guitar, brass, and woodwinds. The result is a sound that is lush yet light, deeply textured yet not dense.
“The Garden Suite” marks a significant evolution in the partnership between Hershkovits and Dor, with their new compositions shifting from the rhythmic focus of “Four Petals” to a more texture-driven approach. The album showcases their ability to create genre-defying soundscapes, blending Daniel’s rhythmic system, “The Flower,” with lush, ambient layers of sound created on the Moog.
Nitai Hershkovits, known for his extensive work in jazz and classical music, began his musical journey as a clarinetist before transitioning to piano at the age of 15. His early passion for improvisation and jazz earned him several jazz competition awards in Tel Aviv. Nitai’s career highlights include his fiveyear tenure with the Avishai Cohen Trio, and his numerous projects as a solo artist, including work with ECM and his band Apifera.
Daniel Dor, a drummer and multi-instrumentalist, was born into a family of musicians in Tel Aviv. He began exploring rhythm at the age of 10, building his first drum set out of household objects. His innovative rhythmic method, “The Flower”, gained attention with his debut solo piano album, “Four Petals”, which led to his collaboration with Hershkovits. Daniel has performed with notable artists such as NOA, Avishai Cohen, and Chano Dominguez, and regularly lectures on rhythmic symmetry and music.
With “The Garden Suite”, Hershkovits and Dor offer a unique listening experience that challenges traditional genre boundaries. Their seamless fusion of rhythm, melody, and texture creates a soundscape that is as experimental as it is captivating.

Im September 2022 begeisterten BLUE ÖYSTER CULT ihre Fans mit einer einzigartigen Trilogie von ausverkauften Shows, die jeweils einem ihrer
ersten drei Alben gewidmet waren.
Gründungsmitglied Albert Bouchard hatte an allen drei Abenden einen besonderen Auftritt und verlieh dem historischen Meilenstein eine
nostalgische Note. Fast drei Stunden lang lieferte die Band an jedem Abend ein fesselndes Set, das sich durch die gesamte erste Albumtrilogie zog und
die Fans mit einer Mischung aus Fan-Favoriten, Deep Cuts und klassischen Hits verwöhnte. Die Atmosphäre war elektrisierend, und das Label
Frontiers hat die Magie eingefangen und veröffentlicht jeden der Abende als individuelles Package.

Die Chronologie von Schnitzlers Solo-Veröffentlichungen in den 70er und vor allem in den 80er Jahren gleicht einem Buch mit sieben Siegeln. In zeitweise sehr kurzen Abständen brachte Schnitzler seine Musik teils auf analogen Kassetten, teils auf LPs heraus, nicht selten als "private releases", das heißt in eigener Regie und ohne Hilfe eines Labels oder professioneller Vertriebe. Das gelbe Album beispielsweise erschien 1981 als LP auf dem Label der Kunstgalerie von René Block in Berlin, nachdem Schnitzler bereits eine Reihe anderer Tonträger auf diversen Labels herausgebracht hatte. Tatsächlich ist die Musik des gelben Albums aber bereits 1974 als "The Black Cassette" in wahrscheinlich sehr geringer Stückzahl von Schnitzler selbst vertrieben worden. Das gelbe Album hat den Untertitel "12 Stücke aus dem Jahr 1974". Schon das deutet auf etwas Neues hin, denn bis dahin gingen Schnitzlers Stücke grundsätzlich über die ganze Platten- bzw. Kassettenseite. Hier versucht er sich nun erstmals an einer kürzeren Form. Außerdem neu: Schnitzler lässt auf mehreren Stücken nicht mehr nur automatische Klangprozesse ablaufen, sondern benutzt seine Keyboards offensichtlich auch, um "mit der Hand" gespielte melodie- ähnliche Improvisationen in seinen musikalischen Kosmos zu integrieren. Die eigentlich so kristalline, anorganische Kunstwelt Schnitz- lers wird damit um ein organisches, fast menschliches Element berei- chert. Durch die Musik des gelben Albums weht ein durchaus laues, freundliches Lüftchen, zum Glück meilenweit entfernt von den senti- mentalen Plattitüden der gebrauchsfertigen Ambient-Musik der 80er. Das gelbe Album ist nicht nur durch und durch freundlich, sondern es dokumentiert auch einen wichtigen Schritt in Schnitzlers musikalischer Entwicklung. Das späte Erscheinen als LP (1981) und die fehlenden diskografischen Angaben ließen diesen Gesichtspunkt etwas in den Hintergrund rücken. Aufmerksamen Hörern und Schnitzler-Kennern war jedoch sofort klar, dass das Album eine besondere Wegmarke darstellte, die einen deutlichen Weg in die Zukunft wies. Schnitzler hatte begonnen, sich aus dem Korsett der orthodoxen Konzeptkunst zu befreien, um in lichte Weiten unentdeckter musikalischer Gebiete vorzustoßen.

The last great rock LP from Nigeria's post civil war underground. Be Nice to the People was recorded in 1977 by Fela producer Odion Iruoje as he chased the runaway success of high school band Ofege. The Western world was in the throes of peace, love and flower power as Nigeria descended into civil war in 1967. The rock scene that developed during the following three years of bloodshed and destruction would come to heal the country, propagate the world-wide ideal of the modern Nigerian, and propel Fela to stardom after the conflict ended in 1970. The members of Question Mark were children when the Nigerian civil war ended and by the time they recorded their only album in 1977 they were college students, chasing rock n' roll dreams as Afro-beat turned to Afro-disco. Theirs is a fiery reminder of a once vibrant scene.

sind mehr Gitarren zu hören, hier und da nimmt es einen leichten progressiven Schlenker, aber alles immer im Sinne des Songs. Dazu mit einer
unglaublichen Authentizität für eine Zeit, in der alle Bandmitglieder noch nicht einmal geboren waren. Wer authentischen Achtziger Sound mag und

In der Hoffnung, Sun Konkurrenz zu machen, startete Meteor 1952 vielversprechend mit dem in Chicago aufgenommenen R&B-Hit 'I Believe' von Elmore James. Ein zweiter Hit, diesmal im Country-Bereich, 'Daydreamin' von Bud Deckelman Ende 1954, verlieh Meteor jedoch neues Leben und weckte Lesters Interesse an Aufnahmen von Rockabilly-Künstlern, insbesondere jetzt, da der Newcomer Elvis Presley bei Sun seinen Durchbruch hatte. Meteor's Studio war dazu da, seine Geheimnisse zu bewahren, und darin lag die Magie. Niemand wurde jemals bezahlt und niemand wurde zu einer zweiten Session eingeladen. Irgendwann im Sommer 1957 machte Lester Bihari das Licht aus, schloss ab und ging, ohne sich die Mühe zu machen, die Master und irgendwelche Unterlagen mitzunehmen, und machte das Label mit dieser letzten Drehung des Schlüssels zum Mythos. Die unfreiwillige Wahrheit von Meteor Rockabilly ist: Man ließ die Musik für sich selbst sprechen, ungeschönt und frei von kommerziellen Zwängen.
