Alle 12 Songs des Sleep Token Debütalbums 'Sundowning' sind sorgfältig aufeinander abgestimmt, verfolgen damit einen emotionalen Faden, setzen gleichzeitig dabei individuelle Meilensteine. Der Nachfolger von City of Evil, Avenged Sevenfold's viertes Studioalbum, das selbstbetitelte Album im schlichten Weiß mit Logo, debütierte auf Platz 4 der US Billboard 200 Chart und Platz 24 in UK. Mit dem Fan-Favoriten "Afterlife", "A Little Piece of Heaven" & "DearGod", wurde das Album mit dem Kerrang!-Awards als Album des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Das Album ist auch auf Kerrangs "666 Alben You Must Hear Before You Die" aufgenommen. Für Fans von Metallica, Slipknot & Bullet For My Valentine. Avenged Sevenfold (abgekürzt A7X) ist die amerikanische Heavy-Metalcore-Band aus Huntington Beach, Kalifornien, die 1999 gegründet wurde. Das aktuelle Lineup der Band besteht aus dem Sänger M. Shadows, dem Rhythmusgitarristen Zacky Vengeance, dem Leadgitarristen Synyster Gates, dem Bassisten Johnny Christ und dem Schlagzeuger Brooks Wackerman. Avenged Sevenfold sind bekannt für ihren abwechslungsreichen Rocksound und teilweise für ihre dramatischen Bilder auf Albumcovern und Merchandise-Artikeln. Die Band trat mit einem Metalcore-Sound auf ihrem Debütalbum Sounding the Seventh Trumpet in Erscheinung und setzte diesen Sound bis zu ihrem zweiten Album Waking the Fallen weitgehend fort. Der Stil der Band hatte sich bis zu ihrem dritten Album und ihrer ersten Veröffentlichung bei einem Major-Label, City of Evil, zu einem traditionelleren Heavy-Metal-Stil entwickelt. Mit dem selbstbetitelten vierten Album erkundete die Band neue Klänge und feierte einen anhaltenden Mainstream-Erfolg, bevor ihr Gründungsschlagzeuger Jimmy ,The Rev" Sullivan 2009 starb. Trotz seines Todes machten Avenged Sevenfold mit Hilfe des Dream Theater-Mitglieds Mike Portnoy weiter und veröffentlichten 2010 ihr fünftes Album Nightmare, das an der Spitze der Billboard 200 debütierte und ihr erstes #1-Album war. Die 2003 gegründete schwedische Band "The Baboon Show" veröffentlichte am 21.10.2011 ihr Album "Punkrock Harbour" als LP und CD erstmalig in Deutschland. Etwas verwunderlich ist das schon, vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass dies bereits das 4 Album der Band aus Stockholm ist. Zudem wird es zum ersten Mal eine Vinylveröffentlichung der Band geben. Umso besser, dass es nun endlich soweit ist. Es wäre schließlich eine Schande dieses außergewöhnliche Album dem hiesigen Publikum vorzuenthalten. Strotzen die 11 Tracks der Platte doch vor Spielfreude und Energie. Der Band ist anzuhören, dass sie ganz genau wissen, was ein guter Song braucht und wie dieser zu klingen hat. Überflüssige Spielereien sucht man auf der Platte vergeblich. Und wieder stellt sich die Frage, wieso so viele großartige Bands aus Skandinavien kommen? Auch live wurde die Band bereits zu einem der besten schwedischen Live-Acts gewählt, was wir in jedem Fall unterschreiben können. Wer sich selbst davon überzeugen möchte, kann dies bei einem der Deutschlandkonzerte im Oktober diesen Jahres tun. Mehr sollte an dieser Stelle nicht schwadroniert werden. Hört Euch das Album an und urteilt selbst.

The Quireboys trafen 2022 auf ein kleines Orchester! Ein Abend, an dem klassischer Rock auf klassische Musik unter dem Dach des legendären O2 Forum Kentish Town traf. Bei diesem Meilenstein in der Geschichte der Quireboys wurde die Band von einem Streichquartett und einem Bläsertrio begleitet, die dem bewährten Sound der Gruppe eine neue Dimension verliehen. Gemeinsam interpretierte das erweiterte Ensemble der Quireboys Stücke aus dem umfangreichen Backkatalog der Band neu. Ein ziemlich einzigartiger Abend. Zum Glück haben The Quireboys die Erinnerung an dieses einzigartige Live-Erlebnis in ihrem neuen Konzertalbum mit dem Titel ,Orchestral Quireboys Live" festgehalten. Auf dem Album mit sechzehn Titeln spielt die fünfköpfige Band live Fan-Favoriten wie ,There She Goes Again", ,I Don't Love You Anymore" und ,7 O'Clock", aber auch versteckte Perlen aus dem Repertoire der Gruppe. Fleetwood Mac released five back-to-back multi-platinum albums between 1975 and 1987, an astonishing feat that drove them to become one of the best-selling bands in the world.
On March 28, these classic albums will be reissued on crystal-clear vinyl as a 6LP boxed set as well as a 5CD set. This collection includes Fleetwood Mac (1975), Rumours (1977), Tusk (1979), Mirage (1982), and Tango In The Night (1987).

A Paradise In The Hold is an album of yearning. It’s about Ivor Novello Award winning Yazz Ahmed’s dual heritage, drawing on traditional music and folklore as well as her own personal experience as a British-Bahraini woman. A sweeping epic where tradition meets innovation, she melds ancient rhythms with contemporary musicianship. The record is a tribute to the sorrowful songs of Bahrain’s pearl divers, the strength of Arab women, and the celebratory rhythms of women's traditional drumming circles, while also telling the story of Yazz’s own decade-long voyage of selfdiscovery. The album also marks Yazz’s first foray into writing lyrics, in both English and Arabic, bringing a new dimension to her expansive sound. The project features an impressive roster of collaborators, including vocalists Natacha Atlas, Brigitte Beraha, and percussionist Corrina Silvester. With A Paradise In The Hold, Ahmed delivers a groundbreaking fusion of tradition and innovation, creating a contemporary jazz project that is set to make a lasting impact on the genre

Freerange Sounds - which shouldn't be confused with Jimpster's deep house label Freerange - is reissuing its first release from back in May 2022 here. It's a dark garage outing from 9TRANE that kicks off with 'Keep It Moving' (feat Riko Dan) with edgy vocals, late-night urban menace and some crisp drum patterns. The fantastic Bakey dub mix brings more pruning basslines and withering pads while the instrumental is stripped back and more haunting. Last of all is 'Hear This' which leans on the Burial style of ghostly production but with a more fulsome low-end and prickly percussive brew riding the beats. Serious tackle for sure.

Almost a year after his last outing on Dungeon Meat, Borren is back with more hefty slabs of hardcore house and garage fusions. 'Space Mode' kicks off with shuffling beats and low sling bass that can't fail to amp the party. 'UKTD Gangsterloop' is another naughty and smiling cut with characterful samples and filthy bass. There's some nice and trippy melon to 'Warp Garage' that makes it perfect for those inky blue late night hours and 'Zeer Zakelijk' shuts down with chunky drum funk and rolling bass that is so deep it rattles foundations.

Merv keeps it super deep here with a trio of supremely tasteful techno cuts doused in dub culture. 'Sliver' is first and awakens the sense with some gentle rattling chords that sound like distant thunder rolling in with a storm. 'Embrace' is airy, with big kicks and frosty pads shimmering across the airwaves and crisp hi-hats cut right through. 'Strain' is last up on the flip and is an elongated journey through some sugary melodic pixelations, a frosty dubscape and hints of melancholia. All are perfect for those late-night and intimate back room sessions.

It is a huge honour to announce the publication of Peter Brotzmann’s final concerts on OTOROKU. When we invited Peter to do a residency at Cafe OTO back in February 2023 we had no idea these would be his last ever shows and he played with such power it would have been hard for anyone present to believe he would never play publicly again.

Recorded over two nights this grouping of Jason Adasiewicz on vibraphone, John Edwards on bass and Steve Noble on drums feels especially resonant and personal to Cafe OTO. The first time Peter performed at the venue back in 2010 it was in a trio with John and Steve, (released as The Worse The Better kick starting our in-house record label) so it feels fitting that the last shows he ever played here should also have that trio at its core.

The quartet last played together at OTO back in 2013, (released as Mental Shake on OTOROKU), and Brotzmann humbly opened the return of the group saying, "it's a pleasure to be back” before launching straight into a long blast on the alto sax, swiftly met by the relentless energy and engagement of Adasiewicz, Edwards and Noble.

There are moments of tenderness to Brotzmann’s playing that feels specific to this small group - one that cuts across three generations - and in a space that’s come to feel like home. Of course, there is dizzying, forceful, singleminded playing, but even amongst a relentless chorus of cymbal splashes and busy vibraphone clusters the lyrical, spacious moments are savoured and held onto. As he remarked at the end of the group's first visit to OTO, “the Quartet is, for us, a great adventure.”

Peter clearly wanted to play to the end. Did he know these might be his last shows? We will never know. What is clear is he wanted to go out in style and on his terms. For anyone in the room at the time or listening to these recordings it’s clear he achieved that.

It was Peter’s wish that these recordings should be made public and he was due to finalise the cover design on the week he passed away. We would like to thank Peter’s family for working with us to fulfil Peter’s wishes to release this material but more than anything we would like to thank Peter himself for all the extraordinary memories, his generosity and all he has given the music. On a personal level for us, like so many, he meant a huge amount and we miss him deeply.

The Quartet will be released as a complete recording on 2CD and as a special edit version on 2LP. Both feature artwork by Peter Brotzmann and UNTIET and are complete with photographs by Dawid Laskowski.

Techno legend Cari Lekebusch debuts on Mind Medizin with an 8-track double pack of underground Techno.

Stockholm-based sound architect Cari Lekebusch has helped to shape the sound of the underground over the last two-plus decades. He has long been at the heart of his native scene alongside peers such as Adam Beyer and Joel Mull and heads up his own H. Productions label while also serving up his timeless sounds on cultured outlets such as Drumcode and Planet Rhythm.

Opener 'Mind and Matter' opens with quick, compelling drum programming and trippy synth details peeling off thebeats. Muttered vocals bring a dark intensity as the percussion also adds layers of tension. The fantastic 'Freakout' isanother classically inclined and linear techno banger with thudding kicks and futuristic synth lines weaving in and outof the beats. There is no let-up in the pressure with the excellent 'Ninguno es Uno' keeping it deep, driving and late night, this time with squelchy acid lines adding character. 'Heritage' shuts down with a hypnotic blend of shimmering
cosmic synth lines and pulsing deep techno drums that keep the mind and body fully locked in.

This second half kicks off with 'Cause and Effect', a bustling blend of scuffed-up kicks and snares, glitchy hits and jangling synth sounds that bring great looseness to the driving grooves. The funky 'Handkante' delivers flailing percussive patterns and wisps of synths that spit out of the mix next to a drunken synth lead. 'Strulgubbe' keeps the pressure on with more muscular drums, this time underpinned by darker bass and unsettling synth twangs. The fantastic closer 'Tuli Taivaalla' offers up a serene sound that is backed with sustained chords and marbled with edgy vocals.

ZY THE WAY 中庸’s debut album Then and Now 溯 is out now, blending ancient Chinese poetry with jazz, improvisation, and global influences. Inspired by the Shijing 詩經, China’s earliest poetry collection, the album bridges history and modern sound. Collaborating with scholar Dr. Annie Luman Ren, it explores themes that transcend time. The band has earned two Global Music Awards and international recognition, with standout tracks like Blue Collar 子衿 and Agile 還 making waves. Two tracks from the album were remixed by Mark de Clive-Lowe and DJ Spinna, bringing a fresh perspective. The limited-edition vinyl drops in Spring 2025—a must-have for collectors.

SUNAGA tatsuo (sunaga t'experience)
DJ and Music Producer. Basing his activities around his own club ‘Shibuya Organ Bar’, holds regular club nights throughout Japan. Apart from his own mix CDs such as the ‘Organ b. SUITE’ which many say is in a class of its own, has produced remixes for the ‘Soul Source 2: Jackson 5 Remix’ and Yasuharu Konishi’s ‘Punch the Monkey’. He began his own label ‘AFTERS OR’ in 1998,acting both as artist and producer. Releasing records under the alias of ‘Sunaga t experience’ on avex/cutting edge records, the ‘It’s you’ 12 inch made record sales of 7,000 records, an incredibly large number in the vinyl market. His name is known in Europe through such labels as IRMA and SCHEMA records, and has remained in the forefront of the industry since the beginning of the Tokyo club scene.
