The founder of Troublemaker Records, collaborator of Rádio Quântica, resident DJ at the “mina” party and also one of the faces behind the Planeta Manas space, has multiplied himself in live performances and brought a handful of news in recent years. “If I was simple in my mind, everything would be fine”, under Rotten Fresh label and “Love is Patient, Love is Kind, Love Will Make you Lose your Mind” by Sweet Love Making, a label that he jointly owns with Bleid , demonstrate Phoebe's bird's-eye view. This vision includes allusions to different languages of dance music, ambient music and other personal cosmologies that define him as an absolutely free producer.

Dima Disk is back in action & on the shelves with six tracks of dark & moody takes on jungle/breaks on freshly registered Surve Records. Our informants reported that the duo of Robert Nikolajev & Ragnar Rahuoja might have been sitting on this for a while.

We last heard of them on Rubadub’s white label series in 2017. The wait is easily forgivable though –– take “Maribo” with its propelling bass-engines, high flying synth stabs & hi–hat skelter for starters. Sweaty! Or “Pahakas” full of mischievous funk & rumble plus that firm “Woooh!” sample. Smokey, energetic dance equipment for you & yours.

Initially born in 2016 with a number of warehouse and DIY events, the Leeds based collective set sights on their label vision during 2017-2020 after opening a studio within the infamous Mabgate Mills.

The debut EP captures the tales of many hours of expression spent within Mabgate via four artists closely connected to the project.

Rising producer and Perspective boss Kepler brings a dreamy-tinged vision to the A-side, alongside the talented Midge Thompson bringing that lively Leeds energy. Residents Nikol and Keefy G mark their debut release on the flip side with two vibrant jams concluding this versatile EP.

The Berlin and Munich-based duo Medus & Niko S. offer a hybrid track with nostalgic elements of techno, breaks, and progressive house, capable of busting any dancefloor. Longtime Munich resident DJ and producer Dancing Lessons contributes a hypnotic tech-house infused tune with elements of breakbeat and electro, taking the listener on a personal journey through time and space. Munich's young and upcoming producer Johnmon and label owner of Powerloader Records chips in a proper 90s bomb with driving drums, dark, and quirky synths. An all-round tool suited for any dance floor situation. Finally, Vienna-based Doesntmatter polishes off the VA with an expertly crafted electro track. He is the veteran out of the bunch with various releases under his belt on labels such as Traumschallplatten, Reboot Prague, Vienna Underground Track, and Zone Focus.

For PT21 we welcome the mysterious duo, Carebears. After making an initial debut on our sister label OFFPath a few years back we knew it was only a matter of time before we welcomed them to the parent label with a full EP. Known for their raw analog sound this EP delivers exactly that. Punchy kicks, snappy claps and crisp hi hats are a staple throughout, interwoven with distinctive synth lines and infectious percussion elements. Label owner Niko Maxen rounds things off with a slick remix.

The first time Kaleidobolt’s faces have adorned an LP, they have been fused into a torpedoing biomechanical vehicle. Echoing The Birthday Party’s Junkyard or Motörhead’s Orgasmatron (…on acid?!), the illustration epitomises perfectly Kaleidobolt’s agenda of “hyperkinetic rock”. Their feverish, psych-prog sound is full of motion. It jerks around at different speeds, threatening to spin out of control and crash into flames at any given moment. What’s more, it isn’t taken too seriously. This is heavy and intricate music, yes. But as bassist and co-singer Marco Menestrina puts it, the Kaleidobolt attitude is “an ugly smirk more than an angry face with a fist.” On their fifth album since forming in 2014, the Helsinki-based outfit lean into their strengths as a formidable power trio. With their previous two records, 2019’s Bitter and 2022’s This One Simple Trick, they had thrown everything at their disposal into the recording with no expense spared on overdubs, effects and kitchen sinks. Produced again by Niko Lehdontie (Oranssi Pazuzu), Karakuchi comes from tightly rehearsed, live-in-the-studio takes. Kaleidobolt realise that greater sparsity can be a strength, and they’ve allowed their instruments extra space to breathe. It makes for their earthiest, purest and perhaps most authentic record to date. Karakuchi’s exuberant style emerges from the individual members’ contrasting listening habits. These span classic prog, Japanese city pop, noise rock, post-hardcore and historical podcasts. One record they can all agree is a masterpiece, the centre of the Venn diagram where all three members meet, is King Crimson’s Red. As for their new album’s title, that’s as suitable as the cover art. “Karakuchi” is the slogan of the Japanese beer brand Asahi Super Dry. Translated literally, this means “pungent to the mouth”. As drinkers of that product, Kaleidobolt acknowledge its parallels to their songs. “It’s very intense, right at the front, like at the first bite,” explains Menestrina. “And then it leaves your mouth feeling refreshed. The flavour doesn’t linger in your mouth, basically. It has a quick, hard finish. With a bit of a stretch, we thought that that could also be said of our music.” Karakuchi is Kaleidobolt at their hardest, fastest, tightest and super-driest. assoziieren könnte – mit dem einzigen Unterschied, dass die Musik vollständig und akribisch notiert war.
Seine Musik ist heute regelmäßig in Konzertsälen als publikumswirksame Zugaben zu hören, aber zum
Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme (2003) war sie noch relativ unbekannt. Marc-André Hamelin war einer der ersten
Fürsprecher Kapustins, und diese Aufnahme (praktisch Marcs meistverkauftes Album) trug wesentlich dazu
bei, die Musik des Komponisten einem breiteren Publikum bekannt zu machen. Gramophone schrieb bei
der ursprünglichen Veröffentlichung: „Alles auf dieser bemerkenswerten CD wird mit einer nonchalanten
Gelassenheit und magischen Fingerfertigkeit gespielt, die man sich von keinem anderen Pianisten vorstellen
kann.“

Ajukaja unfurls a new chapter in his Sunda School saga. This 7-inch vinyl breathes a spirit of deliberate carefree abandon, a poignant, mournful dissent against the world's pervasive shadows.

At the heart of the Sunda School chronicle sits the Yamaha Sunday school organ, residing in Ajukaja's island sanctuary on Hiiumaa. Its keys have served as the wellspring for previous sonic offerings by Tapes, Nikolaienko, and the collective spirit of LLL (Denzel, Nikolajev), all woven into the fabric of this distinctive series.

Erstmals steht Yannick Nézet-Séguin beim Neujahrskonzert am Pult der Wiener Philharmoniker. Der Kanadier, schon seit Langem dem Orchester verbunden, ist Chef der Metropolitan Opera in New York und des Philadelphia Orchestra. Er bringt im Goldenen Saal des Wiener Musikvereins neben populären Titeln wie "Rosen aus dem Süden" oder der "Fledermaus-Quadrille" fünf Novitäten, die dort erstmals erklingen - darunter auch Kompositionen der US-Amerikanerin Florence Price (1887-1953) und von Josephine Weinlich (1848-1887), die das erste europäische Damenorchester gegründet hatte. Das Neujahrskonzert ist eines der größten Events der klassischen Musik; es wird in über 150 Länder übertragen und hat über 150 Millionen Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer.

Das jährliche Neujahrskonzert in Wien ist seit mehr als acht Jahrzehnten, seit 1939, ein großes Ereignis, das im Fernsehen und im Radio übertragen wird und Millionen von Zuschauern in über 90 Ländern der Welt erreicht. Das Konzert wurde bisher von weltberühmten Dirigenten wie Herbert von Karajan, Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, Carlos Kleiber, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Seiji Ozawa, Mariss Jansons, Franz Welser-Möst, Gustavo Dudamel und anderen geleitet. Mit „Wenn es Liebe ist“ veröffentlichen Die Sterne ihr neues Studioalbum – ein Werk, das die Band einmal mehr als scharfsinnige Chronisten unserer Zeit zeigt. Zwischen Indiepop, Post-Punk und subtiler Elektronik verbinden sich gesellschaftliche Beobachtungen mit persönlicher Reflexion, Humor mit Haltung. Die Songs klingen frisch, direkt und unerwartet vielseitig – mal politisch, mal romantisch, immer mit dieser unverwechselbaren Sterne-Handschrift.

Neben deutschen Texten finden sich erstmals auch englischsprachige Stücke sowie zwei Songs mit Dyan Valdés am Leadgesang. Das Ergebnis ist kein Rückblick, sondern ein mutiger Schritt nach vorn – kompromisslos, lebendig und voller Energie.

AF1268 is thrilled to welcome Nikol, the rising soundscaper from Manchester, for its third release. After making his mark on various outings for MASS, his own label, and O.C.D., this installment sees him deliver his first solo EP in full force. Across four meticulously crafted tracks, he chisels his own path through modern minimal and electro, honing his eerie yet hallucinatory sonic signature.

This EP unfolds like a spectral journey where Halloween meets tech-house—haunted by ghostly high-pitched whistlings, piercing acid stabs, and hypnotic rolling basslines. It conjures the image of a sweat-drenched, crumbling club cave under a rainy full moon, where bodies sway in slow motion, lost between dreamlike introspection and raw, unhinged grooves.

When Niko Moon broke out with his triple-platinum hit “GOOD TIME,” the Texas-born, Georgia-raised singer/songwriter lit up the country scene with his larger-than-life energy and message of radical positivity. Since then, he’s earned a passionate following, major TV performances, and praise from outlets like Holler and American Songwriter. With AMERICAN PALM Deluxe, arriving right before his headline AMERICAN PALM Tour, Niko expands his latest LP with
two new tracks, “BREATHE” and “BARE FEET IN THE SAND,” furthering his mission of creating music that feels like a“mental vacation” filled with sun-soaked serenity and coastal escape.

“Breathe is all about finding that place where you can take a deep breath and let your worries drift away,” says Niko. “I find peace by the water, and I wanted the song to be a mantra of positive self talk and a celebration of the coast.”

Niko partly grew up in Georgia, spending summers on Florida beaches, an influence that shapes the concept-driven AMERICAN PALM. Written during his THESE ARE THE NIGHTS tour with producer Danny Majic and songwriter David J, the record blends coastal sounds—ukuleles, nylon-string guitars, ocean waves—with organic beats and a touch of ‘90s hip-hop, nodding to his Atlanta roots. The result is a seaside getaway in album form, equal parts carefree, romantic,and life-affirming.

Tracks like “I LOVE THIS BEACH” and “YOU, ME & A BEACH” capture that spirit. The latter, a love song linking his wife and the beach as his grounding forces, helped cement the record as his first concept album. “SANDBAR” delivers a euphoric summer vibe, while “SANDCASTLES” reflects on life’s impermanence. “KING OF THE ISLAND” is a family
milestone—co-written and sung with his father, Cris Cowan.

Niko’s journey began early, inspired by his dad, a truck driver and drummer who introduced him to John Prine and Emmylou Harris. Niko picked up drums at eight, guitar at fifteen, and started playing in bars while working construction. A chance encounter with Zac Brown led to songwriting cuts like “Homegrown,” before Niko launched his solo career with “GOOD TIME,” a No. 1 hit on both Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts. From the start, he committed to making only positive music: “In a way a song is like a mantra, and I want mine to carry optimism and encouragement.”

Following his award-nominated and critically acclaimed 2023 album Until Then, Danish guitarist and composer Rasmus Oppenhagen Krogh now presents his fourth album as a bandleader. "The title refers to the pillars that life and existence rest on," Krogh explains. "The moments, feelings, and meetings that form us as human beings, and that follow us the rest of the way. Snapshots that become defining for how our life develops." Musically, Pillars balances clear song structures with rich, intricate harmonic foundations. Krogh draws on influences from jazz, indie, rock, film scores, electronic music, and pop, creating a genre-fluid universe in which the ensemble"s improvisational voices shape each piece. Krogh"s guitar takes the lead, acting as a melodic guide, while the production - crafted alongside longtime collaborator Rasmus Juncker (Yör, Anna Roemer, Little North) - adds depth and texture, highlighting the album"s bold and multi-faceted sonic identity. "8 Automated Works", the first full release by Componium Ensemble, an "indeterminate chamber music" ensemble helmed by Spencer Doran of Visible Cloaks. The project is inspired by the long history of automated musical instruments, beginning with the ancient Greek Archimedes and further developed by the Banū Mūsā brothers in 9th century Baghdad, who "first perfected the concept of a programmable, automated musician: a mechanically controlled flute which used hydraulic water pressure and a system of arrangeable punchcards using a visionary proto-MIDI structure", as Doran explains in the liner notes. This mechanical music-making was extended a millennium later with the use of aleatoric principles by the European Dietrich Nikolaus Winkel, inventor of the self-composing Componium mechanical music system. Doran continues this lineage further, using the possibilities of digital technology and its ability to automate a huge range of virtual instruments and introduce aleatoric elements, moving beyond human impulses and limitations, allowing "new shapes to emerge". Dedicated also to Noah Creshevsky, pioneer of what can be considered cyber-human music, Componium Ensemble features a wide and intriguing range of instruments including prepared piano, bowed harpsichord, celesta, bass clarinet, flute, cello, Balinese tingklik, and more, often in multiple groupings. Despite this variety of instrumentation and the seemingly formidable theoretical underpinnings, the music is very accessible and attractive, spacious and fresh, with a light touch and a sophisticated melodic sense which will appeal to pop fans as well as classical/contemporary music listeners. Naya Beat Records is proud to present its release Naya Beat Volume 1: South Asian Dance and Electronic Music 1983-1992. This is the first in a series of compilations and full-length album reissues dedicated to uncovering hidden electronic and dance music gems from the overlooked ‘80s and ‘90s South Asian music scene.
The compilation features future classics from India, Pakistan, the U.K., Canada, Guyana and Suriname released between 1983 and 1992. From East-West’s dancefloor filler "Can't Face The Night (Club Mix)" to Remo’s balearic masterpiece "Jungle Days" (off his seminal album Bombay City!) to other disco, synth-pop, and balearic dancefloor bangers from artists like Babla & His Orchestra, Sheila Chandra, Bappi Lahiri and Asha Puthli to name a few, this double album includes highly sought after, previously never reissued and otherwise impossible to find grails.
The double album has been mastered by multi Grammy-nominated Frank Merritt at his mastering studio The Carvery and includes some killer remixes and edits by Naya Beat co-founders Turbotito and Ragz.
Turbotito and Ragz have this to say about the release: “We’ve spent the last year meticulously remastering some of the coolest finds from our collection and have had the honor of working in close partnership with many of the original artists. Tigeryouth hat das "Akustik" und "Singer-Songwriter" vor dem "Punk" gestrichen und macht wortwörtlich "Alles neu". Markiger, emotionaler Punkrock (kein Deutschpunk) im druckvollen Sound und vielen melodischen Ohrwurm-Momenten. Die Bandbesetzung steht Tigeryouth absolut bestens.

A powerful transatlantic convergence, Live at the Blue Note New York captures Theon Cross’s electrifying U.S. debut at the legendary club—one of the first jazz albums recorded there in over two decades. Featuring standout performances by Isaiah Collier, James Russell Sims, and Nikos Ziarkas, this live set channels deep musical chemistry into a bold, spiritual statement of modern jazz.

New Environments & Rhythm Studies finds Andrew Pekler returning to the humid zones he explored on previous albums such as Sounds From Phantom Islands and Tristes Tropiques. Split between longer immersive compositions and shorter glimpse-like sketches, these 12 tracks feature new juxtapositions of Pekler's familiar palette of synthetic field recordings, warm, undulating electronic textures, shifting percussion patterns and serene melodies.

As with much of his recent work, Pekler's compositions here are structured around the beguiling effect of synthetic and non-synthetic sounds mirroring, mimicking and modulating one another. The teeming atmospheres within tracks such as Globestructures, Cymbals In The Mist or Globestructures: Option II are, despite their seemingly anthropogenic nature, entirely synthetic. Elsewhere, the lopsided grooves of Cumbia Para Los Grillos or Fabulation For K are derived from recordings of crickets and other insects which Pekler loops and uses to trigger electronic percussion – producing a pleasantly skewed rhythmic base for the fragments of melody which are layered on top. The six Rhythm Studies also follow the same principle – a playful interweaving of the organic and synthetic.

New Environments & Rhythm Studies is a further attempt to re-describe past tropes which laid claims to authentically represent music and sound from beyond the Western world (exotica, ethnomusicology, field recording) as undertakings of the imaginary.
