Wade "Jimmy" Dyce was an original member of Cultural Roots. He was a vocalist and played a key role in shaping the sound of the group. Cultural Roots emerged as a four-part harmony group for producer Donovan Germain in the late 1970s, releasing « Revolutionary Sounds » and « Mr Bossman » which counts among ‘Jah Shaka's favourite tunes’. Then they released « Hell A Go Pop », one of the Greensleeves label’s lesser-known classics.

In the early 80's, Wade Dyce produced alone three songs at Chris Stanley's famous Music Mountain studio. Wade Dayce surrounds himself with the best musicians of the time, namely the Revolutionaries, but does not remember the exact formation apart from Sly Dunbar on drums and Bongo Herman on percussion. « Humble », « Money Mare » and « Hide & Seek » are three forgotten songs that can be described as killer roots from the middle of the 80s and which you can (re)discover again through this reissue on the original Moving On label. For this release, Jamwax worked with Parade Studio for this original and unique Disco 45 cover graphic creation.

Today, Wade, now sixty-seven years old, is living in Salem, Massachusetts, where he graduated in 2010 as a mental-health specialist. Long live to the Cultural Roots !

Juan Manuel Cidrón, hailing from Almeria (Andalusia), is a legendary Spanish synthesist who embarked on his musical journey in 1976. A veteran of analog electronic sounds, his early influences come from the Berlin School of the seventies (Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, etc.) and American Minimal music.

Cidrón has independently released 16 albums on his label, Extrarradio, with very limited distribution. ‘Juan Manuel Cidrón has always been immersed in music. As a child, he fell in love with a radio adorned with flashing lights – radio is now one of his professions. He was equally captivated by the music that enveloped him. With whatever little money he had as a child and during his youth, he would spend all his money on records and analog machines. Music is everything to him, and that’s why we understand his compositions as a celebration of life. The vastness that his electronic keyboards offer us is akin to the immensity of the desert, snow, and wind. Albums like ‘Tau’ or ‘Sonido Para Acciones’ belong to the realm of Spanish electronic music and are cherished by enthusiasts of sonic poetry. This vinyl edition holds a special place as it marks a return to analog, a medium Cidrón reveres and continues to embrace. ‘SLG3’ is a long-awaited double album with four lengthy tracks (one per side), available in a limited edition of 300 copies. It’s the first release exclusively on vinyl in over a decade (since ‘Patagón’ on Geometrik in 2012), considering that Cidrón has mainly released his recent works on CD.’The tracks S, L, and G evoke the personal perceptions that I could imagine for each of the three elements comprising our planet in all its forms, manifestations, and presences. The track ‘3’ evokes my unique interpretation of how an imaginary being from another world might perceive Earth – its discovery, journey to it, exploration filled with admiration, bewilderment, hope, and respect. All tracks were written, produced, and mixed by J.M. Cidrón between 2017-2019 at the Extrarradio Studio in Almeria.

KEY GLOCK is a protégé of Young Dolph & who rose to fame in 2017 with his mixtape “Glock Season.” The artist signed to Young Dolph’s label in 2017 and their collaborative album, “Dum and Dummer,” reached #8 on the Billboard 200. As a lead artist, Key Glock has since had one certified platinum single (“Russian Cream”) and 4 certified gold singles (“Since6ix,” “Gang Shit No Lame Shit,” “Mr. Glock,” & “Ambition for Cash”). His debut studio album, “Yellow Tape,” peaked at #14 on the Billboard 200, while the follow-up, “Yellow Tape 2,” rose to #7 on the same chart. A 5-track EP, “”PRE5L,” was released in November 2022 & included the hit track, “Jigsaw.” He is the cousin by marriage of Young Dolph, who sadly passed in November 2021. In a since-deleted IG post, Key Glock called Young Dolph “my lefthand man, my brother, my cousin, and my mentor.”

Through a musical collaboration between Italian musician Samuele Strufaldi and the villagers of Gohouo-Zagna in the Ivory Coast, a new album called Davorio released on Música Macondo Records, will raise money for a new community library and space in the village.

Davorio is the joint efforts of Samuele Strufaldi, and the Guéré musicians of Gohouo-Zagna, located in the Ivory Coast’s Guemon region. The record is a cross-cultural-conversation that tells the villagers’ stories through a modern musical language; one that blends together Guéré music, jazz, and electronica. More than just a record, Davorio is a story about the villagers of Gohouo-Zagna, with their lives, traditions, and cultures animated across the album’s 16-tracks. The profits from the vinyl and digital music streams of the project and the money raised from a Go Fund Me fundraising page, will be used to help construct a library for the villagers, that will provide them with the infrastructure to help further their culture and storytelling for years to come.

Die renommierte Singer-/ Songwriterin Katie Melua die Details zu ihrem kommenden neunten Studioalbum „Love & Money“ bekanntgegeben - ein atemberaubendes und höchst persönliches, insgesamt zehn Tracks umfassendes Werk, das einen tiefen Einblick gewährt, was innerhalb der letzten zwei Jahre in Katies Leben geschehen ist. Produziert von Leo Abrahams (Ghostpoet, Brian Eno, Regina Spektor), wurde „Love & Money“ im Sommer 2022 in Peter Gabriels Real World Studios aufgenommen, während Katie mit ihrem mittlerweile neugeborenen Sohn schwanger war. Das Album ist eine exquisite Sammlung von Songs, die wesentlich von Dankbarkeit und einer Positivität geprägt sind, die sich mit einer neuen Liebe einstellt. Darüber hinaus geht es auch um Selbstakzeptanz angesichts von einschneidenden Veränderungen und wohl auch um den Versuch ist, „die Überzeugung loszulassen, dass Glück weniger schwer ist als das Gegenteil".

This follow up album is made under adversely different conditions - the approach of war to their home city, the assault on their native land. Yet these men are making music happen in the midst of it, recording their artistic and emotional reactions as chaos unfolds around them. Deluxe limited edition vinyl LP of the unpublished Nenad Vilovic lost synth-masterpiece Prizma. The Yugoslavian and Croatian disco and pop chart-maker and once a Split International Music Festival headman (also in groups Grupa ST, Mladi Batali, etc.), producer of Dino Dvornik, Ambasadori, Oliver Dragojevic, Meri Cetinic, Leo Martin and many more, recorded this space-prog-electronica album in complete secrecy. It was refused in the 1980s by major Yugoslavian record labels for being too experimental, but it is actually a game changer in the field of socialist YU electronica. Miha Kralj, Laza Ristovski, Igor Savin and Kornelije Kovac now have company in the field of complex analog synthesizer concept albums, with this one being finally released by Fox & His Friends Records after 37 years of being shelved. Every instrument on this album has been played by Vilovic himself. This rare piece of vinyl is cut by Pauler Acoustics, mastered by Antony Ryan and features exclusive cover design by Eric Adrian Lee. The studio master is here presented in its entirety; no track was replaced or changed its order. This is how it was imagined to be released in 1985, when Nenad Vilovic played all instruments, produced, composed, arranged, recorded and even sang on the whole thing. However the title "Prizma" may suggest, this is not a structuralist concept album, but a conceptual use of his studio, instruments and musical knowledge. It mixes the ethnic, electronic, geographical and ambient roots of the crowned festival producer, hit-maker and fast-skilled studio musician who spent all of his money on new machines and his musical progress.

It has been one year since the world has lost one of it's most talented and gifted reggae singers, Apple Gabriel, one of the founders of Israel Vibration. We feel honoured and privileged to have been given the chance to work with Apple in 2010 on his critically acclaimed solo album Teach Them Right. There where plans for a follow up album but they unfortunately never materialised. As it was in the beginning so shall it be in the end.

Israel Vibration made some of their best music in the Tuff Gong studio in the early days. We went back there to work on this special musical tribute together with the Tuff Gong All Stars and with a contribution from sax maestro Dean Fraser. We recorded a brand new version of No Equality, one of our favorite songs from the Teach Them Right album. A solid roots tune full of cultural vibes, capturing the soul of Israel Vibrations early releases. The song is accompanied by a video that shows the story of the early beginnings of Israel Vibration as told to us by Apple. Long acapella shows on the streets of Jamaica to make some money to survive, before the band went on to become one of the most successful and inf luential roots harmony groups in reggae history. Rest In Power Apple Gabriel, your music will live on and continue to inspire many generations to come.
