After finding their feet with a couple of remixes for Before I Die, Talking Drums ditch their sea legs and swap the pirate booty of their cult edit series for a five-track EP of original productions, each swimming in LinnDrums, digital chimes and synth-vox sunshine. Summer sounds abound as the crew refract house, disco, ambient and dub through shimmering sea glass, bringing the beach to the bar, club, garden or grotto.

Inspired equally by tropical Sceneries (but Not Songs), Ecco the Dolphin and Echoes of Wally, as well as a few tall tales about trendy whales, this 16-bit caper makes a splash from wave top to bikini bottom. Written and produced as a cohesive EP over three sun-baked weeks in 2025, and stitched together with field recordings and found sounds from Sicily, rural France, Japan and Singapore, Pier Pressure sees each track flow into the next: distinct seas that make up one larger ocean.

Opener ‘Fashionable Whale’ surfaces with mystic motifs and dreamy pads arcing above the spray before a purring low end and drum-box shuffle plunge us into Balearic house depths. A rippling breakdown, bookended by insistent arps, provides respite from the rhythm before the low-tempo pulse returns to take us home. Sticking with Zone 2 cardio, ‘Salmon Hats’ serves wonky disco at Valium pace, its beatific vox and glittering sequences underpinned by a hip-swivelling bassline and topped with a future-primitive melody. After drifting into dream house for a sunset lull, it’s back to the beat and the enduring question of how best to dance on a lilo.

‘Mangrove’ offers an intertidal intermission as tuned percussion finds a place among the cicadas and lapping waves, gently unfolding into an RPGambient ode to humid languor. Refreshed, albeit ailed by a sunstroke haze, we’re back on the dance floor with the optimistic motifs and jolly polyrhythms of ‘Flutti Di Mare’, an uptempo, Afro-adjacent house workout designed to inspire mile-wide smiles. Then the EP sails off into the sunset with the fathoms-deep delight of ‘Squid Dub’, a Cousteau-coded cod-reggae stepper with digi-dub bass, pound-shop marimba and all manner of THCtinged FX. Don’t be deceived by the loose and limber opening: a solid sequencer emerging at the midpoint sees the Squid squeeze every bit of bump out of the finale.

Born and raised in the birthplace of House Music, Paul Johnson was known for his raw, soulful, and infectious sound, that helped shape Chicago's house scene and inspired generations of DJs worldwide in particular he was a massive inspiration to Daft Punk and the 'French Touch' scene. Releasing a vast amount of music throughout the 1990s for some of the most consistently underground dance labels including legendary Chicago imprints Cajual, Relief and Dance Mania he finally gained global fame with his 1999 hit “Get Get Down,” a dancefloor anthem that topped charts across Europe. Despite facing physical challenges, including losing both legs in accidents, he remained an unstoppable force in music—touring, producing, and uplifting others with his resilient spirit and signature groove.
Originally released in 1996 Feel The Music was Paul's second album for Peacefrog Records. Containing some of the classiest house music to hail from the Windy City. Up next is 'Modulate', a collaborative force of the highest order between Sean & long-time friend Black Sonix. Expertly fuzzying the lines across Deep, Soulful & House is somewhat of a speciality for the duo respectively and there’s bags of all 3 intertwined throughout alongside a hefty sprinkling of sun-kissed, Latino-inspired pianos.

'Still Standing Here' kicks things off on the B-side and begin in March 2022 as vocalist Madeeha recorded an accapella vocal idea in a phone voice message, quietly singing into her phone to avoid waking the neighbours. She sent the idea to drum & bass producer from Bristol, DJ Mixjah, who then approached friend Sean McCabe with the idea. Together they produced a hypnotic afro-tinged soulful backing track to fit with the voice message, with an intention to re-record it in a studio environment. Sean and Mixjah soon realised that the music they had created blended perfectly with the sincerity, intimacy & rawness of Madeeha's heartfelt performance in the original voice message and decided to stick with it. A firm fave for Atjazz, Crackazat , DJ Spen & Emmaculate.

Wrapping things up is 'You Don’t Know', a slick & energetic dancefloor bubbler from London based producer/DJ ‘David Bailey’ and Canadian soulful songstress ‘MissFly’. David Bailey is a firm favourite amongst the London house music community. He’s produced standout releases on labels such as Idris Elba's 7wallace, Makin Moves, Good Vibrations Music, Rhemi Music & Unquantize. MissFly is known for her soulful serenades and ability to write songs 'on the fly' in the studio. She has carved out an impressive discography on soulful house nuggets such as '1972,' 'Wanna Love You' and 'Thankful'

Jacksonville returns with Heavy & Gold, a powerful five-track EP rooted in the raw energy of underground house and analog machine funk. Bella Boo lands on Aus Music with a mix of party-starting and heart-racing house jams

Swedish artist KURT. brings her characterful style to the title cut

Bella Boo has lit up the house world since breaking through in 2018. She has become a Studio Barnhus mainstay with a sound that is both emotional and energetic in the way it contrasts light and dark. It's built on solid grooves with fresh sound designs and has taken her to dj everywhere from Panorama Bar to Printworks. Her debut LP, as well as follow-up EPs, have seen her nominated for several Swedish Grammys and seen her profile grow around the world. KURT. is a rising star from Stockholm with an electric sound that blends club, r&b, pop and soul. It's high on attitude and laced with her own provocative vocals. She guests on opener 'Shake Down', which is a chunky, bass-first rhythm packed with character: hints of jungle breaks, heat-damaged synths and blasts of gloopy bass all bring the fun before KURT.'s vocal motifs - which are variously sultry, whispered and visceral - inject even more heat. The Regrette Rien Mix takes on a late-night feel with sustained chords and a silky smooth vocal from KURT. that turns you inwards. Bella Boo then goes solo for the super vibey 'Atlas', a deep, cruising house cut with catchy percussion and lush, layered bells. The golden chords and shimmering pads are immersive and expansive as the bass powered on. Legendary is a bold title for an EP, but is fully justified in the case of this new 12" from Silver Walker, which gathers some of house music's best and most proven talents. Jon Dixon opens with the light, fluttering house stylings of 'Five 15', which have sax motifs adding a touch of classy hi-tech jazz. Dallas man JT Donaldson follows by folding jazz phrasing into a swinging, deep house framework with understated finesse. On the flip, Abacus delivers 'A Gathering Of Griots' a warm, melodic cut bathed in sunlight and label head DFRA closes with a tribute to the great Mike Huckaby that is driving but soft, reverential and with a bittersweet energy.

Milan-based independent label WEorUS Records celebrates its 10th vinyl release with WU010, a four-track Various Artists EP bringing together four distinctive names from the international minimal and deep house underground.
Moving between deep, hypnotic house, micro-minimal grooves and darker after-hours territory, WU010 is a carefully curated selection built for the dancefloor, with each track offering its own take on rhythm, atmosphere and club functionality.
Chicago veteran DJ Jes opens the record with a deep, rolling groove driven by a solid bassline, hypnotic vocal cuts and enveloping synths.

The Memory

A flash of light hits your eyes. Your ears hear muffled bass. As bright white fades to amber, you find yourself in a familiar place. A place you have been to many times. Though the edges of your memory are no longer sharp, the shape of it all is in your DNA.

The smell of rusted metal, dirt-covered floors that once hosted workers, machines and industry mixed with spilled beer and the sweat of a thousand bodies moving to syncopated music. As your vision comes into focus, you’re back there.

A warehouse in the former industrial part of town. You’re surrounded by hundreds of strange but familiar faces, each of you dancing into a frenzy countless times under the moonlight — moving, jumping, laughing and connecting.

Sunlight pours through warehouse windows or appears over a distant horizon.
The DJ plays a song that completes the journey you all just shared. You are desperate to hold on to the feeling of the last song that lands you safely from the night and into a new day. The feeling is deep. Pure.
Especially when communal ecstasy is juxtaposed against the edges of the warehouse floors, the intimacy of city lofts, the spiritual nature of open fields or forests.

The Custodian

I spent just shy of two decades in spaces like that — as a raver in early 1990s Los Angeles, then a DJ, producer, label owner and head of Moulton Studios in San Francisco.
The Custodian Project is a memoir of a life lived deep inside the culture and business of house music from 1990 to when I stepped away from music as a full-time life in 2015 — told through music, stories and DJ events.
Each release of new music draws inspiration from feelings, emotions and memories of that life — different rooms, different eras. It is an exploration to understand and capture what those feelings were, and in some cases still are.

The Music

This EP is the beginning. 1990. When I first found the rave and re-ordered my DNA based on the sounds, songs and feelings of that era that can be summed up in the title track — Sunrise Through Warehouse Windows.
All three tracks here are an attempt to reach back and touch those mornings again. To put the listener back in the warehouses or open spaces where we would dance as the sun rose over the horizon.
To capture what I felt back in 1990 when the night transitioned into daybreak. Bodies moving in unison. People, places and music all connect. An era before algorithms.

Plastik People deals in house & garage done right. This latest drop is a split EP between Marc Cotterell and Dominic Balchin and opens with 'The Trumpet Track', which is exactly that. 'Baby Do You Feel Me' is unabashed vocal joy, while 'Oh Lord' sinks into deeper house with shapeshifting chords that keep you moving. 'Rhythm Of The Vibe' is a New York homage with shades of Kerri Chandler and we can't get enough of it.

MCRV020 – Byeffect EP marks Overt's return to MixCult Records with four refined Deep Tech House productions that showcase his versatility through four distinct moods, each crafted with dancefloor functionality and musical sophistication in mind. Designed for both daytime sessions and late-night moments, the EP balances warmth, groove, and timeless underground aesthetics.

Ready opens with uplifting energy and infectious rhythm, while Alias moves into deeper, hypnotic territory through rolling grooves and subtle textures. On the B-side, Thermal delivers a more driving atmosphere with elegant sound design, before the title track Byeffect closes the release with playful house grooves, memorable melodies, and effortless dancefloor appeal.

Throughout the EP, Overt demonstrates an exceptional ability to shift between different sonic landscapes while maintaining a cohesive identity built on positive vibes, fluid movement, and carefully crafted grooves. Byeffect EP is another strong statement from one of MixCult's veteran artists, delivering a versatile collection equally suited for intimate listening and sophisticated club environments.

Marc Cotterell makes no bones about the fact that he really loves the classic garage and jacking house sound. And don't we all, frankly. His Plastik People label is doing a fine job in keeping those vibes alive, but with updated designs that mean they aren't pure revivalist throwaways. This fifth various artists outing is another irresistible one that opens with the deep bumps of Chris Fry's 'Come To Me' and takes in the retro piano flair of Harvey Lowe's 'Swingin' Keys', Kid Mark's deep, New York style house cool and Claudio's more shuffling and sensuous 'Boomer'. All are well executed and therefore pretty irresistible tunes.

OLC003 brings another slice of late-90s South London tech house back into circulation, with a repress of Swag Records SWAG003 now brought home to the Online Collective catalogue.

“Takedown” from Dave Ivy opens with a distinctly 90s feel, built around analogue synths, punchy drums and processed movie vocals. Raw, driving and full of character, it’s a proper snapshot of the era.

“Diversion” sees Rob Pearson and Lee Humphreys developing their early collaborative sound, with lush Detroit-tinged chords, analogue drum rhythms and plenty of subtle detail. Even the slightly wonky vinyl noise was recorded by Rob and Lee themselves while miking up a wobbling record — a small touch that sums up the hands-on approach behind the track.

On “Checkout” Rob & Lee head into deeper and slightly cheekier territory, with a few familiar voices from a particularly strange night south of the border weaving through analogue hardware textures, resonant sounds and deep bass. A stripped-back late-night groove with plenty of attitude.

Three tracks from a very particular moment in UK tech house history now back with the original artists on Online Collective.

REBORN — Chapter I: The Big Bang is a conceptual double-vinyl album created to be experienced in sequence, with each track flowing into the next as one continuous journey. Moving through house, techno and electro house, the record gradually increases in energy while connecting cosmic creation to G. Felix’s own artistic rebirth. The physical edition contains the first 12 tracks of the chapter, but the story does not end with the vinyl. The sequence continues digitally through track 16.0, including a hidden composition positioned between 12.0 and 13.0. Inside the vinyl insert, listeners will find a QR code that opens access to exclusive material, visual content, behind-the-scenes information, the continuation of the narrative and Chapter II — The Dark Matter. Recorded in 1989, this is one of the rare and sought after recordings by Larry Heard. Never been available since 1990 and a departure from his more familiar style that he released as Mr Fingers, Fingers Inc. and The It). Gherkin has been an outlet for his more experimental and techno-orientated productions. 6 tracks on this record, and everyone seems to have their own favorite... but worth mentioning are the dramatic opener ''Meltdown'', the cosmic ''Saturn V'' and the incredible extra terrestial ''Strange Creatures''. Tracks that are the foundation of the house we live in! - essential!

'A Senegalese Griot singer, an Amsterdam improviser and a Puerto Rican jazz drummer find each other on an open playground, a stage built for improvisation, an old cinema now used for minute made story telling.

'Singer and percussionist Mola Sylla is in many ways a musical explorer. Born and raised in Dakar, Senegal, he grew up in the tradition of the griots. Griots play conveying stories – sometimes decorated with music, theater and dance – which all play an important role in West African culture. His rhythm and melodic compositions differ from the western agreed schedules and provide surprising twists.
'Puerto Rican drummer Frank Rosaly has been involved in the improvised and experimental music scenes since 2001 when he became an integral part of Chicago's musical fabric, navigating a fine line between the vibrant improvised music, experimental, rock and jazz communities.
'Oscar Jan Hoogland is the sound of Amsterdam in person. He is an instant composer and inventor of his own instrument by joining a clavichord, a keyboard instrument from the 17th century, to 220 Volt electricity. As the last student of the late pianist, composer and improvisor Misha Mengelberg he tears like a tornado through the Amsterdam jazz and impro scene.

The Temptations Get High on Psychedelic Soul: Cloud Nine Soars with Ambitious Arrangements and Production, Features Standout Vocal Performances and Instrumentation by the Funk Brothers

The Temptations’ Cloud Nine announced that Motown — and “The Sound of Young America” — would never be the same. Influenced by the emergence of cutting-edge rock and pop currents, as well as increasing sociopolitical turmoil, the album broke down barriers between rock, psychedelia, and soul while heralding the arrival of visionary arrangements and production techniques. Bookended by traditional R&B numbers, the 1969 record sent the Temptations in bold new directions and signaled the advent of psychedelic soul.

Sourced from the original master tapes, strictly limited to 3,000 numbered copies, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing, and housed in a Stoughton gatefold jacket, Mobile Fidelity’s 180g 45PM 2LP set presents Cloud Nine in audiophile sound for the first time on a domestic pressing. This collectible reissue bestows Norman Whitfield’s extraordinary production with the grand-scale dynamics, natural tonality, expansive openness, and low-end weight it deserves. The timbre of each of the five members’ voices is readily identifiable — even within the group harmonies — bestowing a realism never experienced outside the recording studio.

Making its debut on 45RPM, the album further benefits from the wide groove space by playing with greater separation and more realistic presence than prior editions. Everything from the brassiness of the horns to the dry snap of the snare comes across with reference-grade clarity and positioning. And since Motown’s renowned Funk Brothers backing band plays on many of the cuts, you’ll want to savor every note. The imaging, soundstaging, and organic bloom-and-decay of the notes make that possible.

Amid Cloud Nine, the instrumentation and architecture stand out as much as any element. Never before had a Motown album contained such ambitious patterns and complex passages. Seemingly conscientious of the departure from their past methods, the Temptations and Whitfield bunched together the tracks that mark a deep dive into psychedelic territory and counterbalance them with seven sterling soul cuts that dovetail with Motown tradition drenched with heartfelt vocals, swelling strings, and finger-snapping beats.

On the original 33RPM release, traditional Motown soul — laden with heartfelt vocals, swelling strings, and finger-snapping beats — occupies Side Two. These songs reveal an ensemble still very much on top of delivering pristine pop-soul material graced with romantic sweetness, persuasive insistent, and soaring highs. Re-energized after the departure of lead singer David Ruffin, who was fired for a variety of reasons in June 1968, the Temptations seamlessly meld with his replacement, Dennis Edwards, on one melodic gem after another.

The collective tackles five songs co-written by the legendary Motown team of Barrett Strong and Whitfield. Not the least of which are the smooth, shuffling “Why Did She Have to Leave Me (Why Did She Have to Go)” and deceptively simple, horn-spiked “Gonna Keep on Tryin’ till I Win Your Love.” On these tracks, as well as on a lush rendition of the ballad “Love Is a Hurtin’ Thing” and pleading, tender send-up of the Gerry Goffin-Carole King classic “Hey Girl,” Edwards and Paul Williams take turns on the lead with the estimable Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, and Otis Williams providing backing support.

All five vocalists trade-off leads on the simmering title track, a groundbreaking composition shot through with wah-wah-pedal effects, liquid funk, deep bass lines, Cuban percussion, saturated reverb, and gang choruses. Whitfield mines each member’s natural vocal range with spectacular results, keeps time with cymbals, and channels both the heated temperatures and escapist desires of a society embroiled in war, conflict, and experimental drugs.

Amazingly, the Temptations top themselves on the similarly revealing “Run Away Child, Running Wild.” Nearly 10 minutes in length, the song explodes R&B parameters and harbors a cinematic scope. Captured during a golden era for sonics and production, the Top 5 effort features remarkable tonal balance, instrumental separation, and organic naturalism. Those valued aspects come into supreme focus on this reissue, which plays with dead-quiet surfaces and a low noise floor.

The newfound clarity, openness, and imaging underscore the lasting appeal of Chapin’s tender deliveries, soulful timbre, and careful phrasing. Every word comes across with incredible realism, while his underrated guitar playing occupies its own distinctive space. Certified double platinum, Verities & Balderdash resonated with the times and public. “Cat’s in the Cradle” reached No. 1 on the chart on its way to being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Verities & Balderdash teems with situational devices and topical matters. Chapin observes everything from the polarization of the nation to changes in moral standards and cultural priorities. He investigates pressing themes without ever turning preachy or elevating himself above the matters at hand. On “Halfway to Heaven,” whose coda races to the finish and ranks as the most urgent moment on the record, Chapin inhabits the mind of his frustrated protagonist akin to an eagle-eyed novelist.

Conveying emotions that range from melancholic to carefree, Chapin is as much of a singer as a storyteller. He assumes the voice of multiple characters within a single narrative. During the quirky “30,000 Pounds of Bananas,” a tale based on a delivery-truck accident in 1965, Chapin alters his delivery, pronunciation, and diction to become an old man reflecting on the mishap and mess. The tempo, too, adjusts to match the speed of the vehicle Chapin describes.

Adorned with timely laugh tracks to reinforce the bittersweet humor, the stripped-down “Six String Orchestra” takes everything up another notch, with Chapin intentionally missing guitar notes or playing a broken passage to illustrate the failures of the hopeful protagonist who doesn’t have what’s required to make it as an artist.

Chapin, of course, did not have any such problem. The lynchpin of a career cut short by a tragic traffic incident, Verities & Balderdash is Exhibit A of the savvy craft, feeling, and perspective he lent to American music.

Her remarks attest to the enthusiasm and effort she invested in her third record, a 1985 work that quickly furthered Nicks’ profile and cemented itself as a piece of 80s pop lore.

This reference-grade reissue marks the first time they are all brought to light and conveyed with proper balance, dimensionality, and positioning.

Though Rock a Little doubtlessly has period characteristics of a mid-80s LP, Nicks and company spare no expense when it comes to distinguishing the music with expansive sonics distinguished with lush melodies, high-tech percussion, echoing vocals, sampled keyboards, and layers of sophisticated accents. The degrees of spaciousness, headroom, and dynamics are nothing less than inspiring, while the newly enhanced detail, texture, and clarity make the songs sing like never before. As for Nicks’ voice? Wait ’til you experience the transparency and depth.

Those advantages extend, of course, to the aforementioned “I Can’t Wait,” a statement-making opener shot through with modulating synthesizers, splashy drums, metallic guitars, and serious drama. Holed up in a massive studio, Nicks required just one take to nail her part, which she called “magic and simply not able to beat.” The singer-songwriter also distilled the reverberating emotional essence of the Top 20 tune, stating “when I hear it on the radio, this incredible feeling comes over me, like something really incredible is about to happen.”

The same can be said for nearly all of Rock a Little. Crafted by the likes of Songwriters Hall of Fame multi-instrumentalist/producer Rick Nowels, Heartbreakers organist Benmont Tench, bassist Bob Glaub, jack-of-all-trades Greg Phillinganes, and session-pro guitarists Waddy Watchel, Les Dudek, and Danny Kortchmar — along with another two dozen or so participants — the record spills with diverse ideas, shapes, and moods. Everything is in the right place, as evidenced by the swirling glide and sensual undertow of the slightly funky title track to the snapping rhythmic pace and big hooks of “Imperial Hotel,” one of Nicks’ standout moments.

“What was it she wanted?” Nicks queries on “No Spoken Word,” continuing a theme of contemplation that runs through the narratives. Nicks never lands on a definite answer, but hearing her explore loneliness, love, and the secrets we keep to ourselves proves continuously rewarding. Take her passionate performance on a cover of Chas Sanford’s “Talk to Me,” a Top 5 smash furthered by tasteful saxophone lines and understated folk elements. Immersive yourself in the grand sonic corridors of “If I Were You,” laden with Nicks’ signature mysticism.

Moreover, surrender to the gravitas of the closing “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You,” a piano ballad composed about the death of Joe Walsh’s three-year-old daughter. As Nicks asserts earlier on the album, she sings for things money can’t buy.

So, rock a little, yes, but dare to feel even more.

Armenian house, jazz and broken beat fusionist Henna Onna lands on wax for the first time here courtesy of Deeppa Records. Opener 'Shibuya Oiran' uses syncopated drum patterns and modal synth lines that pull from Eastern tonal references within a club framework. Kuniyuki Takahashi's fine remix extends the track with live-feel percussion and sustained chord progressions. 'Enoshima' then focuses on a steady groove with filtered melodic elements while Satoshi Fumi's remix increases rhythmic density with smartly layered drums and bass sequencing. These are sophisticated sounds for serious heads.

This latest project by Groovedesign Kollective is rooted in movement, thoughtful tension, joyful repetition and dreamy release.

The Groovedesign factor shapes itself in the opening track 'United Tribes' by repositioning intimacy over chaos, a life affirming sound that belongs to those magic early morning hours that really shape experiences. Belgian label De:tuned once again dives into the innovative world of Luke Vibert, reviving his legendary Plug moniker with 'Variety Magic', the first new Plug album in nearly 15 years.

Growing up just across the water from Italy, Clint Spiteri and Madeleine Baldacchino absorbed the shimmer of Italo disco long before Deadisko took shape. Their analogue pop celebrates the past while embracing the future. “1987” melts an addictive piano house groove with clean rhythms, a sleek and smooth sound with just a hint of romance. Cat-like, “La Costa” stretches before finding its funk-filled footing. Synth stabs are ruffled, teasing rhythm patterns opening avenues for melodies to bend, curve and race. The flip is introduced with the pop opulence of “This World.” Blue undercurrents are bolstered by Sean Kamati’s emboldening vocals, his smouldering voice accompanied by daring keyboard play. A collection that balances soulful vibes with modern an edge. Saison's "Can't Get Through" opens with deep textures and a classic house swing, while Piem, Saison & Kid Enigma's "Don't Stop" injects vocal fire and raw energy into the A-side. Flipping over, Matt Gillespie's "Need You Now" layers warmth and urgency into his take on the classic garage sound. Closing the record, Scott Diaz & Miss Yankey's "Intergalactic (Alternate Rub)" ventures into more garage territory with its atmospheric pull and soulful chords. A versatile package that brings together established names and rising voices in perfect balance.

Dan Piu and Grant's Theory of Movement project is rather sporadic - we last heard from it more than a year ago - but that only makes fresh drops all the more essential. This return to When The Morning Comes opens with the swirling ambience and deft house depths of 'The Geometry Of Leaving', which is a heady scene-setter before 'Suspended Motion' floats you amongst more airy pads. 'The Distance Between Things' has a joyful feeling of hope and optimism in the luminous keys, and the Acid version beefs it up for extra club impact. Artful sounds from two seasoned heads.

It's time to dip into the secret vault once more, and after the first two visits this year, we can't wait. The latest from this mysterious and so far anonymous new label and production crew is another scorching disco two-tracker. The opener on the A-side is full of excitable horns and funky guitar lines with irresistible hand claps and tracky grooves that roll for days. On the flip-side, 'Track 2' brings a vocal line that is brings a sing-along and uplifting vibe as it rides on busy, funky bass motifs with lovely slide in the hi-hats and more lush strings. It's a big-hearted and fulsome disco-house sound for when the whole floor needs locking in to a loved-up vibe.

Constant Black is one of the many, many labels that Burnski heads up. It's where he focuses on stripped-back minimal and tech house with a moody undercurrent. Kerouac is a mainstay in his orbit and here takes one side of a new 12" that opens with 'This Method,' a rigid thumper with an eerie edge. 'Produce To The Max' has a dark bassline and ghoulish vocal sounds, while 'Talking About' is a more light and bumpy percussive number. Mees Mattern takes care of the flip with the dusty, garage-y loops of 'Sloppy Tekniic,' rubbery bass minimalism of 'Reeses Pieces' and grittier '404 Not Found. Six fresh tools for rewiring a dancefloor.

Following the success of the first volume, "BOY Records - Timeless Technology 2 (1989-1993)" delves even deeper into the catalogue of one of Germany's most influential independent techno labels.

While the first volume focused primarily on the label's formative years and its pioneering tekkno traxx, this second chapter explores a broader spectrum of the BOY Records sound. Alongside overlooked classics from the 1989-1991 period, it extends the scope up to 1993, years in which the label embraced the rapidly evolving electronic music landscape.

As the sound matured, the raw energy of early German techno began to merge with harder techno rhythms, acid-infused productions, and the first waves of European trance. Featuring 24 carefully selected tracks, many of them long-forgotten gems, "Timeless Technology 2" captures both the diversity and forward-thinking spirit that made BOY Records a key player during the golden age of underground dance music, while documenting the label's continued evolution and lasting contribution to the scene.

This deluxe 4LP set is housed in a reverse-board printed gatefold sleeve and includes one BOY Records logo sticker.

Reptile Mob is proud to present 'Lost N Found' EP opening the vault to a long-awaited archive collection of unheard garage house tracks from Darlington-born and London-based producer Highrise. Unearthed from old hard drives, this EP captures a raw, unfiltered moment in UK garage, true to its name. Highrise is the alias of Dinn Warde, a name jungle heads know well as Dwarde. While he's been making increasingly large splashes on the jungle scene, his garage output as Highrise on labels like Practical Rhythms, Vibesey Records, Shuffle & Swing, and Fresh Milk Records has been equally on-point. Mexico's Rubinskee mixes up slapping house and techno on some of Europe's finest labels and has done so since 2011. His latest is an understated outing that veers into deep, melodic realms where warm textures meet precise machine-driven grooves, and it is inspired by solitary weekends in Sao Paulo. Opener 'Half Meal' rolls effortlessly, while 'Sigueme' brings a playful Brazilian swing and 'Too Many Days' adds a touch of melancholy. Don Alex Albert's hypnotic remix deepens the drive for the club while 'So Tight' is soulful low-end pressure, and the live version of 'Us Less' closes things with an intimate, organic feel.

Ste Roberts delivers his debut vinyl EP for the label — four seriously solid cuts of twisted, underground tech house.

The title track “The Washing Machine” is a driving peak-time workout built around Ste's trademark analogue synths, drum machines, rolling sub bass, sharp drums, bleeps and plenty of weird little twists and turns. It's already had plenty of road testing through Ste's DJ sets, including Houghton and fabric, and it does exactly what you want it to do on a dancefloor.

The A2 “Wong Kei” keeps things rolling with another slick and twisted piece of Ste's production. Clever sound manipulation and a seriously infectious groove make this another one that's going to work hard for Djs.

Over on the flip, Evasive boss Rob Pearson gets stuck into B1 “The Washing Machine”, remixing it into his trademark peak time tech, rolling sub-bass territory and adding a few extra mangled instructions for your increasingly misbehaving washer.

B2 “Shoplifting Like That, Yeah” brings Ste’s trademark electro/breakbeat sound into the mix, with tripped-out vocals, wobbling bass and a groove that’s already been causing a real stir in his live sets. Ste has been using it to open his shows, and it’s easy to hear why — a twisted, energetic way to get things moving.

Berlin's Hypersoft crew launch their new vinyl label with Clínica Electrónica by Italian DJ, producer and Evasione Digitale co-founder Andrea Dama. Following the start of their new residency at Panorama Bar, the label opens its catalogue with a strictly limited five-track EP recorded at Buenos Aires' legendary La Siesta del Fauno, bringing Dama's Berlin dancefloor sensibility together with the peculiar chemistry of one of the world's most extraordinary electronic music studios. Forged through extended jam sessions on an array of vintage analogue instruments, including the original Korg PS-3300, Moog modular and Yamaha CS-80, the spontaneity of the sessions translates directly into the finished tracks, where ideas mutate, collide and develop into unexpected forms. Switching gears between hypnotic, mechanical, groove-driven house, and stuttering, furious, off-kilter techno, Dama moves deep into more atmospheric territory, conjuring worlds that are at once lush, organic, paranoid and extraterrestrial. London-based RUKI joins forces with Japanese producer DJ Himitsu for a playful and percussive EP rooted in the natural world. DJ Himitsu’s polished productions collide with RUKI’s love for nature, creating an energetic and esoteric four-tracker.

Opening strong with the rainforest-infused rhythmic house of ‘Mint’, the EP then turns to the hypnotic percussion of its title track ‘Sometime’. On the flip, ‘Matane’ offers a buoyant, uplifting contrast in 4x4, while the low-slung psychedelic-infused breaks of ‘Door’ close proceedings in a surreal fashion.

LOS ANGELES—To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the celebrated Talking Heads and Jonathan Demme’s concert film Stop Making Sense, the set will be re-released as a 2LP and 2CD/Blu-ray set this summer.

Released last year, the sold-out Deluxe Edition of the soundtrack will return as a 2-LP black vinyl on Rhino and 2-LP crystal clear vinyl at retail. Both variants feature a 12-page booklet with liner notes from all four band members –Tina Weymouth, David Byrne, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison—and band photos. The 2CD/Blu-ray version includes the entire 28-page booklet from last year’s Deluxe Edition and a Dolby Atmos mix of the complete concert, mixed by Jerry Harrison and E.T. Thorngren, who also mixed the original release. Both will be available on July 26. Pre-order now.

The band appeared together for a sold-out screening and Q&A last night at the Pantages Theater, the same theater at which Stop Making Sense was recorded. They were joined by Blondshell, who performed “Thank You For Sending Me an Angel.” Another special screening with the band will occur in Brooklyn at the King’s Theater on June 13, with the Q&A hosted by Questlove and The Linda Linda’s performing “Found a Job.” The two events cap off a banner year of celebrations for what many consider to be the best concert film of all time.

The inspiration for Stop Making Sense came when director Jonathan Demme saw Talking Heads perform during the band’s 1983 tour for Speaking in Tongues. Afterward, he approached them with the idea of making the show into a concert film. They agreed and worked together over the next few months to finalize the details. Ultimately, Demme filmed three shows at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983 to create Stop Making Sense.

The concert film presents a retrospective of the band up to that point, with a performance that weaves together songs from all six of its studio albums. The show progresses methodically, opening with Byrne onstage performing “Psycho Killer” alone with a drum machine. After each song, he’s joined by a new band member until Weymouth, Frantz, and Harrison are all on stage with him. The group continues to grow throughout the concert as members of the stellar touring band are added: keyboardist Bernie Worrell, percussionist Steve Scales, guitarist Alex Weir, and backup singers Lynn Mabry and Ednah Holt.

The band performs 18 songs in Stop Making Sense, including its recent single at the time, “Burning Down The House.” That summer, the song was in heavy rotation on radio and MTV, helping the song become the band’s first top 10 hit in America. It was, however, a different song from Speaking in Tongues that was destined to deliver one of the film’s signature moments. Talking Heads would perform “Girlfriend Is Better” wearing the now iconic, oversized suit inspired by costumes worn in traditional Japanese theater. For good measure, a picture of David Byrne in the suit also graces the album cover.

Stop Making Sense focuses mainly on music by Talking Heads but does include a few songs recorded outside the band: “Genius Of Love” by Tom Tom Club, “What A Day That Was” and “Big Business” from Byrne’s 1981 album, The Catherine Wheel. Limited edition vinyl versions of both of these albums, along with Harrison’s The Red And The Black, were released for this year’s Record Store Day.

When it arrived in September 1984, Stop Making Sense was an artistic and commercial triumph. The film had people dancing in theatre aisles, and the soundtrack sold over two million copies. Just last year, the Library of Congress added Stop Making Sense to the National Film Registry in recognition of its cultural, historical, and aesthetic significance.

Weymouth praises Demme as a collaborator: “…Jonathan was a very enthusiastic, highly adaptive, and imaginative guy who was just as good a listener as he was a talker and collaborator. From the get-go you just got the impression he was as flexible as he was disciplined. Being team players, that boded well for a great relationship and a great film!”

Harrison says the film still holds up today: “To me, Stop Making Sense has remained relevant because the staging and lighting techniques could have been created in a much earlier time period. For example, Vari-Lights, lights with motors to re-aim them, had just come into vogue. Had we used them, there would have been a timestamp on the film, and it eventually would have felt dated...The absence of interviews, combined with the elegant and timeless lighting, created a film that can be watched over and over.”

Byrne says it’s interesting that this album was – for many people – an introduction to Talking Heads. “We had done a live album before this, but coupled with the film, and with the improved mixes and sound quality, this record reached a whole new audience. As often happens, the songs got an added energy when we performed them live and were inspired by having an audience. In many ways, these versions are more exciting than the studio recordings, so maybe that’s why a lot of folks discovered us via this record.”

Frantz recalls the sheer joy surrounding the entire Stop Making Sense experience. “I’m talking about real, conscious, transcendent joy… I’m talking about what the Southern gospel people call ‘getting happy,’ which means ‘to be filled with the Spirit.’ That is what happened to us onstage every night, and from my seat behind the drums, I recognized that this was happening to the audience too. Joy was visible in front of me and all around me every night.”

The title track Muv It sits at the heart of the release - a driving, hypnotic floor-burner that showcases Fröhlich's instinctive feel for rhythm and texture.
Alongside it, Get Up raises the energy further, bringing a higher-octane dancefloor urgency to the EP's middle section. Its dub counterpart Get Dub then strips things back - a spacious, reverb-drenched variation that lets the groove breathe and reveals the track's deeper, more meditative side.

The vinyl edition comes with an exclusive bonus track: Gruv It - a stripped-down, atmospheric rework of Muv It that trades hands up moments against a hypnotic rolling vibe.

Diso Gram is based in Barcelona and deals in global disco, nu-disco and edits with in-house production from we don't know who, but we do know they're skilled in the studio. 'Bobby' is a life-affirming opener with proud trumpets and classic disco vocals before 'The King' taps into a funky bassline and slapping hits that all feel wonderfully live. 'Me Enciendes' brings more strutting disco house with massive claps and falsetto vocals that will take any crowd to a better place and 'Tropical' closes the account with a more subdued, early evening dub-disco builder with Afro flourishes.
