Athens of the North is proud to present Milton Wright's stunning alternate version of the now Classic Miami soul LP 'Friends & Buddies'. An altogether more stripped down, folky soul affair than its highly respected, much sampled brother is now available on Vinyl, CD and Digital for the very first time.

Shelved at the last minute then re-recorded and overdubbed, only a few promo copies of this early version escaped from the studio and are deep in the collections of the very few previously in the know.

The master tapes burnt in a fire at T.K Disco in Miami in the early 80s so even the label has not heard this in 30 Years. Many reissues of the second version of Friends & Buddies LP have come and gone, but Milton's original vision has remained hidden until now.

As searingly honest and stunningly soulful as any seminal Marvin Gaye or Terry Callier LP, it stands tall amongst its exceptional peers as one of the true pillars of quality 70s soul.

The track "I'm So Crazy" by Par-T-One vs. INXS (a remix of INXS's "Just Keep Walking")

is widely praised in dance/electronic circles for successfully fusing classic rock attitude with driving house beats,

retaining the iconic guitar and vocals while adding powerful drums,

making it a timeless and energetic club anthem that captured the spirit of the original for a new generation.

Produced in 2001 by the Italian electronic duo Par-T-One (Sergio Casu aka Sergione and Andrea Pareo),

reviews highlight its infectious energy, inspiring guitars, and effective dancefloor appeal.

The song has been classified as "Punk House" because the video depicts people performing the Pogo move and Michael Hutchence's skinhead-like vocal style.

The song also features samples of Dennis Parker's "Like an Eagle" and "I'm So in Love."

The single reached number 19 in the UK singles chart and the video (directed by Sam Brown and Paul Gore,

who later found success directing videos for James Blunt and The Bravery) won and was nominated for various awards

in the Short Film category and Best Promotional Video.

2026 re-release remastered by Gianni Bini at HOG Studio

Over a decade has passed since this was released, and it has truly aged like fine wine. This release features 2 timeless cuts from the mind and soul of intrusion, mixed and recorded near the heart of Detroit. This was beautifully remastered by dub innovator and pioneer, Stefan Betke POLE @ scape mastering in Berlin, DE. The recordings were pulled from the session masters conducted by Bazza @ Alchemy Mastering in London to ensure a perfectly balanced mix and preserving the soul and spirit of the original tape master. The first incarnation of "A Gentle Embrace" came in the form of three extended reshapes from cv313 & variant and now we're proud to offer the original work on beautiful crystal/silver mixed clear 150 gram wax! :)

On side A the most pristine of dub techno is on offer here, this is Detroit techno stripped down to its most minimal core. A gorgeous subtle ambient soundscape exploring the deepest end of dub and house with gentle surges of organic elements, field recordings and modular movements simply out of this world. The "Reduction" mix on side B captures those chilling glacial soundscapes, trademark basslines and mesmerizing gaseous atmospheres subtly layer into the mix. Otherworldly to say the very least, this is music to swim in, breathe in and to pray to - for the spirit and the soul. Essential!

To be excluded, ignored or worse not allowed usually end in a “FUCK YOU’ The inspiration for this record came from those who had the talent,had the drive, had the chops but were ignored back in the late 60’s, 70’s & 80’s because they didnt fit into what major record companies of their day were looking for! So finally they just “Did it
themselves! We are talking Wendell Harrison & The Tribe, Marcus Belgraves and Mad Mikes jazz mentor Robert “Bobby” Barnes and an even later inspiration Larry “Mr. Fingers” Heard. No better way to upset
and dethrone major record companies than to…….. start a movement that said “fuck you” to the commericial “Smooth Jazz” that was sucking innovation, experimentalism and the soul right out of Jazz and making it a household easy to digest pre-packaged PRODUCT!! This is the track that has influenced other hi-tech jazz groups and artists such as Timeline, Boulevard des Airs, Innerzone Orchestra, Jazzanova, Spiral Deluxe, Los Hermanos, Ian O’ Brian and many others. Despite building their careers out of strikingly different musical places, both dBridge and Radioactive Man have taken influence from the field in which each other operate. dBridge (Darren White) was part of the iconic drum & bass outfit Bad Company and he helms one of the scene's most solid and quality imprints in Exit Records and Radioactive Man (Keith Tenniswood) was born from the acid house scene and the off kilter electronics of his Two Lone Swordsman projects (alongside Andrew Weatherall) which led him to create his decidedly UK take on Drexciyan electro. It's by no means a stretch to learn that both producers have crates that contain their favourites from each genre but they've also found a mutual respect and connection in the studio over the last few years, leading to the dBRm moniker for Craig Richards' The Nothing Special label.

Echospace are proud to announce the fourth ep from the forthcoming cv313 album, "dimensional space". The title track "Seconds To Forever" was originally planned to appear on Echospace 010 but due to the nature of old Ampex tape, the age of the tape resulted in terrible shedding and was unable to be restored but as a result was remade and remodeled for this special limited release in clear vinyl.

Maceo Plex teams up with Gabriel Ananda to deliver the momentous 'Solitary Daze'. An awe-inspiring piece of music; Maceo and Gabriel have pulled out all the stops in creating this anthemic masterpiece. A sure fire dancefloor destroyer! The original is also deftly remixed by Barnt and by North Lake.

The A Side features North Lake's infectious deeper remix whilst the flip features Barnt's epic revision of the original. Both of which create fantastic versions of the original version, taking it off into new stratospheres. Another great single from Ellum, who seem to be going from strength to strength.

The breakthrough dance collective of the year bar none! Having made a name for themselves creating the evilest drum&bass music the world has ever seen, in recent months Noisia have been seen DJ-ing at house clubs, releasing singles with prominent house labels and most recently remixing for the likes of Robbie Williams! However, it wasn't long before they decided to go back to the dark side and join forces with good friend Mayhem (USA) to come with something more disgusting than ever, oh and they got KRS-One to provide the vocal!

A truly breathtaking intro bursting with evil foreboding sets the scene, before Noisia and Mayhem unleash the darkness with their signature drum programming alongside futuristic never heard before beats and breaks. Be sure to wait for the hip-hopesque interlude that features the immense vocal talents of none other than KRS-One. If you're not nodding your head by that point, you best check your neck isn't broken!
