Juan Pablo Torres was one of the best trombone players in the Latin-jazz community of the second half of the 20th century.
He was the director of Algo Nuevo and a member of Irakere, two of the leading exponents of Afro-Cuban jazz in the 1970s and 1980s. He has also directed various Cuban supergroups such as Estrellas de Areito and Cuban Masters.
Almost all of his albums were made for Areito de La Habana, Cuba.
‘Cuba Disco’ was the only album released in his name in Europe; recorded in Milan in 1984 and produced by Aldo Pagani. In Italy in the same year he participated in two records by Pino Daniele and one by Astor Piazzolla.
Accompanied by his faithful Gruppo Algo Nuevo, with the addition of some guests such as the Italian jazz guitarist Angelo Arienti, his traditional Afro-Cuban vein is contaminated by disco and balearic moments; as in the case of the magnificent ‘Bermuda Triangle’ which anticipates the current atmosphere of Nu Genea.

Released on Greensleeves in 1990 to glowing reviews ‘Blowing With The Wind’ went on to be Pablo’s most successful album since the seventies. The mix of nyahbinghi drumming and hardcore steppers was embraced big time by the new age sound-system culture bringing Pablo’s far east sound to a whole new audience. A successful tour of Japan followed where Pablo showcased Blowing With The Wind with a selection of his original rockers. Saft's X series signs up accomplished French house artist Pablo Valentino for a new EP that features Patchworks and includes a remix from Seb Wildblood. Valentino hails from East France but his work has made a global impact. He runs FACES Records and is A&R for the cult MCDE Recordings. Next to that he DJs around Europe and has produced both solo and as part of collectives such as Creative Swing Alliance and Hipster Wonkaz for labels like MCDE, Eureka and Room With A View.
Atmospheric opener "Look Deeper" is a rough and steamy deep house cut for cosy basements. The drums are raw and alive, the lead synth is haunting, and the keys bring a jazz feel while vocal coos add some serious soul. French jazz, soul and deep house artist Patchworks guests on "X Rousse", a freewheeling jam with loose-limbed drums and funky chords. It channels the spirit of Moodymann and is sure to bring heat to any party. The final original is "Bagaco"; a bubbly and percussive number underpinned by warm bass stabs. The dynamic groove never rests and raw claps amp up the energy throughout.

Pablo Bozzi is a Berlin-based French producer also known under the alias of Lapse of Reason and as ½ of projects like Soft Crash, Infravision and Imperial Black Unit. Bozzi, who has been long recognized for his ability to omit electronic music conventions with remarkable ease, returns to BITE with his second solo EP on the imprint. BITE020 serves as a further exploration of his signature Italo Body Music style. In the best traditions of so-called Bozzi Music, the EP is a stylistic hybrid rich with nostalgic synth lines, electro and new beat influences, while this time leaning even more into the hard-hitting EBM territory. All while staying true Bozzi’s playful and euphoric spirit, which resonates with so many dancefloor enthusiasts. Augustus Pablo's unique sound which was created around playing what could best be described asa child's musical toy, the melodica. It made him a very popular session player in the late 1970's and early 80's.It was not only his unique talent of playing the instrument but also his talents on a piano and the keyboard.
Pablo worked on a varied amount of sessions for all the top Jamaican producers but especially for King Tubby at hi studio in the heart of the Waterhouse district of Kingston Jamaica.
We have compiled a set of rhythms that have King Tubby and Phillip Smart at the controls and Augustus Pablo adding his musical flavour to the mix to make what we believe to be a great album...

Reissue of Augustus Pablo's Augustus Pablo At King Tubbys, originally released in 2005. The visionary musician and record producer Augustus Pablo made some of the most unique and individual recordings in the history of reggae. As with his friend and mentor, Jackie Mittoo, the man born Horace Swaby was of mixed Indian and African heritage, and although his middle-class background might have pointed him in a very different direction, the lure of Jamaica's sound system culture captured him at a young age, particularly after debilitating health problems saw him drop out of school.

Roman Flügel and Radio Slave remix KUSP ft Pablo:Rita on Rekids this November.
Arriving on Radio Slave’s vital Rekids imprint following 2020’s ‘Freedom of Fear EP’ on Rekids Special Projects, British duo KUSP deliver the captivating ‘Folding’, featuring vocals from Pablo:Rita and remixes from label boss Radio Slave and electronic music luminary Roman Flügel. A deviation from the duo’s upfront techno records, which have been supported by likes of Luke Slater, Regal, Truncate, and more, KUSP have crafted an emotive breakbeat jam featuring vocals from West London-based Pablo:Rita, the Crosstown Rebels affiliated duo formed of Annabel Simpson and Liz Cass.
Following the A1 is the ‘After Dark’ mix, which sees the duo head to heavier territories, stripping away the vocals and going for the jugular with crisp, pounding drums under the original’s melodic touch. On the flip, Roman Flügel brings his years of clubland experience to the table, introducing a wonky electro-esque
pattern, arpeggiated synth lines, before an ecstatic breakdown takes hold. For the final version, Radio Slave returns to his use of breaks and delicate atmospherics with his evocative, early-rave referencing ‘New Age Of Love’ remix.

Altin Asllani, Fabio Schoeni, Flavio Scano and Jan Jossi – four friends from Zurich with Swiss, Albanian, Brazilian and Italian roots, who have been sharing an ardent passion for music for more than a decade. With their third album 'Mount Angeles' they are now setting out to conquer all Rock enthusiasts beyond their country’s borders.
Their mutual love and enthusiasm for the rock music of the 70’s speaks to style-defining bands such as Deep Purple, Frank Zappa and all the progressive rock pioneers. For years, the band’s first choice for retreating and letting the artistic urge flow freely has been a 19th century house in the middle of the Swiss Alps, called Gasthaus Gruenenwald. The former train station and inn situated in Engelberg (which means nothing else than “angel mountain” in German, hence the album name), has become an essential part of the group’s songwriting process.
Mixed by none other than five-time Grammy Award winner Chris Lord-Alge from Los Angeles (Aerosmith, Muse, Foo Fighters, Green Day and many more) and finalized by Bill Skibbe at Jack White’s Third Man Mastering Studio in Detroit, 'Mount Angeles' presents the preliminary zenith of Pablo Infernal’s work.

In his own words Rising uon “mix-up the vibes a little more” from steppers like ‘Pipers of Zion’, revival reggae ‘African Frontline’ and the deep and heavy ‘The Day Before The Riot’. Recorded at Channel One, Tuff Gong, Dynamic & HC&F and engineered by Phillip Smart and Scientist.

In the spirit of global collaboration, Specials Worldwide’s first release comes courtesy of Vancouver’s own ZDBT & Washington, DC’s own Dreamcast. The collaborative “On Love EP" between the producer and singer/songwriter is a musical anthology of 2019 “love in this club” anthems, featuring the lead single “Take A Chance (On Love)” and B-Side “Time For You”.
The EP is the end result of a multi-day studio session in August of 2018 when Dreamcast was invited out to Vancouver for a live show with locally based imprint Pacific Rhythm. With immediate chemistry abound, the result was “Take A Chance (On Love)”, a beautiful permutation of R&B and Techno that melds the soulful vocals of Dreamcast with the peak time Techno of ZDBT (known for his work with 1800HaightStreet on labels like Lobster Theremin). B-Side “Time For You” is a slowed down, dubbed out one-take vocal with Dreamcast featuring his soaring vocal range over moody Techno chords, resulting in another ode to the pursuit of finding love in the club.
Rounding out the EP is a blissed out, Trance tinged take on “Take A Chance (On Love)” courtesy of Montreal based producer Project Pablo and an even deeper, dubbier version of “Time For You” by DJ Sports, the Danish producer and member of Århus based collective Regelbau.

Following his explosive Figure-EP just this recent summer, Juxta Position now reveals his more sublime side on these two technoid journeys. 8* Following recent excursions channeling the big room sound, Project Pablo returns with a sleeker, more refined EP for Technicolour.The resulting five tracks span upbeat opener 'Napoletana' - a rough and ready duet between a MFB 522 drum machine and Juno 106', through the swirling improvised piano loops of 'Last Day' - recorded in an hour just before he packed up his gear at the studio of fellow Montreal residents Braids and moved it all home, to the bumpy 2-step of 'Less and Less'. The Canadian producer has had a stream of quality releases via labels such as Clone's Royal Oak imprint, Spring Theory, Lone's Magicwire and most recently Ninja Tune's Technicolour imprint.
Pablo R. Ruiz was born in Chile and moved to southwest Detroit in 1999. He played drums in various hardcore punk bands throughout high school. DEMF and raves cultivated an interest in dance music that Pablo brought with him when he moved back to Chile in 2006. He began producing and DJing in underground clubs around Santiago. In 2016 Pablo returned to Detroit, purchased more gear and began producing a new body of work, all recorded straight to tape. The "Bad Hombre" EP is our selection of the fruits of his labor.

The more serious and leftfield off shoot under the labels wing this time inviting the introduction of two new label members on this 4 track VA. Toma Kami opens the A1 with the title Rivershells, a slowly erupting swirl of percussion and progressive drums. A real head turner.
The A2 comes from Pablo Marco with his second addition to Banoffee after his breakbeat power track on their Black Label Series Imprint earlier in the year. Murmuring vocals and a swirling feeling with 'All About' - sure fire dance floor reset button included.
The B1. comes from Liem & Eddie Ness, who's split EP with ac$ on the earlier released BP005 analog acid record was enough to invite a return appearance this time with leftfield 'Fujiyama', and welcoming of K-Lone previously known for his involvement on the powerful Bristol label, Wisdom Teeth with a down tempo track with warm spherical sounds.
