- A1: The Reggae Panther
- B1: Panther Dub
A brand new collaboration between established saxophonist and flautist Sarah Tobias and veteran Jamaican producer, drummer and one-time member of the Cimarons.
`The Reggae Panther’ is a cover version of one of the most distinctive instrumentals and melodies of all time.
Dropping in a jazzy reggae style backed with a raw-to-the-bone stripped-down dub cut, mixed by Dougie Wardrop.
I Wanna Run Barefoot Through Your Hair is the third solo album by Christopher Owens, ex-frontman of seminal indie rock band Girls (Father, Son, Holy Ghost peaked at #37 on Billboard). After losing his bandmate, getting into a motorcycle accident, and bouts of homelessness, he left San Francisco for NYC and returned to Girls’ home label True Panther. Inspired by life (and love) to write music again, Owens is finally ready to share IWRBTYH, a record about his journey back to the center of himself.

Built on the powerful songwriting of Christopher Owens and ethereal production of Chet "JR" White, Girls recorded Album in a mix of bedrooms and studios in their adopted hometown of San Francisco. The resulting 12 tracks evoke a narcotic, sunny afternoon in Dolores Park, yet promising the eventual hangover of summer's departure. Album is self-described as "honest, loose, ethereal, obnoxious, perfect." It’s a sincere tribute to the majesty of great pop music and healing power of rock and roll.

The long-awaited second full-length from San Francisco band Girls is spontaneous and stripped-down in a gorgeous, largely minor-key record. Father, Son, Holy Ghost is enlivened by flashes of innocent pop and given depth by its wealth of influences and will to face sadness. Peaking at Billboard #37 after its release in 2011 and claiming #82 on Pitchfork’s “200 Best Albums of the 2010s,” Father, Son, Holy Ghost both comes alive and cements its legacy with the timbre of Christopher Owen’s voice.

Elaine Brown has led a life of distinction. Appointed in August 1974 by Huey Newton from his exile in Cuba to be the one and only female leader of the Black Panther Party, Elaine has pursued a career of community service that continues to this day. But her debut 1969 album Seize the Time leaves one wondering what would have happened had she not put her musical career second. She was first discovered as a performer while singing Thomas Dorsey’s “Precious Lord” at the funeral service for Panther Bunchy Carter. Afterwards, Panther’s Chief of Staff David Hilliard had her audition for him accompanying herself on piano. That session led to her composition “The Meeting” (about an encounter with Eldridge Cleaver) being adopted as the Black Panther Party National Anthem, and an album was commissioned. Elaine enlisted Los Angeles jazz legend Horace Tapscott and his PanAfrikan Peoples Arkestra to arrange and back her, and Seize the Time was born—which the Black Panther Party’s newspaper called “the first songs of the American revolution.” Blending influences ranging from Bob Dylan to classical, and anchored by Elaine’s powerful delivery of her deeply-felt lyrics, this album will stir your blood whether you agree with its politics or not. Now, with the cooperation of Elaine Brown herself, Seize the Time sees its first-ever American LP reissue, complete with original “uni-pak” packaging featuring lyrics and liner notes, plus an insert with new liner notes by Pat Thomas, author of Listen Whitey!
