More from mystery artist Surrogate, reportedly a veteran Detroit-based techno producer operating under a new alias for the first time in 20 years. As with the publicity-shy artist's recent debut on Misstress Recordings, the four cuts showcased on this EP combine crunchy, distorted and sometimes extremely lo-fi techno and electro beats with dubbed-out electronics, deep space motifs and subtle nods towards vintage rave culture. Canadian Deathcore pioneers DESPISED ICON celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2022, so it’s about time to re-discover the beginnings of the band! The group’s debut album “Consumed By Your Poison” (2002) and their sophomore album “The Healing Process” (2005) are now available again via Century Media Records, both on limited coloured 180g vinyl with new vinyl mastering as well as a bonus CD and also as Jewelcase CD with selected additional bonus tracks from the band’s 2008 DVD-show. “Consumed By Your Poison” is actually available for the first time ever on vinyl and “The Healing Process” comes with alternate, previously unreleased mix/mastering Yannick St-Amand. Deathcore at its very best!

The latest entry from Furanum sees label boss Dominik Muller and repeat contributor Tomohiko Sagae return from remix duties on the label's preceding long play release for a four-track split vinyl treatment of Fu020. On The Other Colours of Poison, acting apart yet seemingly as one, they both dispense with nearly any pretense of an introduction, epilogue, or abstract ambiences, and instead opt for a pure and dancefloor-bound effort of four-to-the-floor industrial relentlessness encapsulated in two compositions to a man.

Sagae notably eschews his signature noise-manifesto driven approach in favour of a compelling centering of groove as a prime determinant of musical force. The results of this approach are on display first in 'Tartrazine,' where a rhythmic mind-worm seemingly burrows it's way in, assimilating and holding the beholder in a frantic dance of oscillatory sway. Likewise, in 'Amaranth' an ineluctable sense of technoid acceleration is achieved, with each of the composition's successive loops driving the sense of propulsive sonic force relentlessly forward,
not unlike the turning of a violent accretion disk tearing matter apart.

As for Muller, he builds on his previous work to construct two reliable aural vehicles for the delivery of unrelenting and thematically oriented vehemence. 'Demut' is like a scene of surrender to an engineered and shifting collosus, overwhelming all attempts at its full apprehension as cogent reverberations puncture the surrounding temporal space. On the flipside, in 'Toxic Environment,' he captures the narratively framed pulse of a phrenetically beating heart, beating on despite all odds through sheer force of will and self-overcoming.

Bari's based Dj/Producer, Innocent Soul, brings his Disco, Italo and House influenced sound to French label Happiness Therapy’s eight release. Having previously teamed up with Black Loops on a few acclaimed productions on labels such as Toy Tonics, Rough Limited and Defected’s sub-division Classic Music Company, his biggest impact has possibly been with his DJing. Having found success and notoriety as a resident in Barcelona’s club scene, Innocent Soul, makes a bigger name for himself as a producer with his latest release ‘Poison’.



Opening up is title track ‘Poison’ a throwback to the 80’s dance music with an italo touch, driving percussion and mesmeric synths. This track highlights the diversity of Innocent Soul’s production style. The following track is ‘Don’t Make It’ a heart pounding, trance inducing progressive disco track with a prominent foot stomping kick drum, looping Afro-Caribbean percussion, rolling bassline and spacey synths. Next up on the release is a heater, ‘Feelin’ Love’ is a raw soulful house track with an infectious rhythm that gets your head nodding from the get go, beautiful female vocals with bright and uplifting melodies. Cooper, released in 1989. The album features the single Poison', Cooper's first top ten hit since 1977. It marked
a great success in Cooper's music career, reaching the

Tradition and experimentation are two familiar
territories that C'mon Tigre, a duo who find
their identity by working with musicians from
all over the world, can balance between very
well. As they did for their debut album (2014),
they have put together a multicolored collective
for their second record 'Racines', out on
February 15, 2019 for BDC/K7.
The title is a French word that means "roots",
referring to the musical roots in which C'mon
Tigre's feet, head and heart are immersed, and
from which their contaminated tracks sprout to
create unusual and original sound environments. In their new album the sounds of the
Mediterranean - the sea of their land -
intersect, intertwine and overlap with a
kaleidoscope of other sounds and a new
approach based - they explain - "on the type of
work we had done when we rearranged the first
album for live shows, by emphasizing the
synthetic part of our tracks". This time around
they did it from the very beginning: "The
composition of the pieces immediately included
the use of machines and synthesizers as a
basis for acoustic instruments. The goal was to
reprocess the terrain of Mediterranean
influences that was undoubtedly our starting
point".
Imagine a work in progress where bass and
guitars interact with woodwind, synths, percussions, vibraphones, dipping the listener into a
sensual and hypnotic musical journey. Sailing
from the Mediterranean basin and being guided
by the fascination for Africa and the Middle
East, C'mon Tigre give rise to a personal
language, made up of mixtures with jazz,
afrojazz, the rhythmics of hip hop, funk, 70s
disco. All without ever confining their songs to
one style, but pushing the exploration as much
as possible, into a dimension that every journey
worthy of this name should encompass. "With
the musicians we work with the exchange and
experimentation continue till the end, the
songs can take different directions at any time'.
The result is a mixed, cosmopolitan record,
which escapes from any label for the affirmation of a free attitude. The attitude that led

evocation to revisit in an absolutely personal
way

Techno Thriller joins the Unknown Precept fam with a brand new mini-album. The first following the release of their eponymous full-length album a couple of months ago. Based in Brussels, although now relocating themselves in Marseille, France, the four-handed formation has steadily been crafting cybernated Gothic music over the past years. Recorded a few months back while drawing its inspiration from dark dungeons and occult folklore, not without evocative titles, Enfant de Sodome feels as muscular and thrilling as their live performances usually imply. Compelling murky synthpunk and industrial machinery colliding in fervor and howls. Free falling tumultuous bass lines lacerated by ominous muffled groans. Bone-bending primitive techno music catapulted over the walls in the most urgent fashion. At the end, it very much feels like trying to dance on some sort of cryptic electronic body music in a heavy chain-mail.

Filled with sleazy funk, macabre synths, homemade electronic kitsch, anti-grape propaganda, and rewind-worthy dialogue excerpts, Psychos In Love is the ultimate lo-fi horror-romcom soundtrack adventure with a theme song so memorable you'll find yourself humming it every morning. After nearly a decade in the making, Zomby finally dispatches Mercury's Rainbow, his astonishing and uniquely formulated dedication to Wiley's series of Eskibeat releases, a.k.a. the cornerstone of grime.
Originally recorded over an intense couple of weeks while suffering from circadian dysrhythmia,
Mercury's Rainbow documents Zomby riffing on intricately hand-programmed arpeggios, using theories of colour and its relation to the sonic chromatic spectrum - the circle of fifths - to place an expressively avant spin on the Wiley Kat's slyding Triton squares and frozen, post-garage drum patterns.
Rather than simply imitating Wiley's foundational unit of grime currency, Zomby innovates with a structure of bewildering, modal styles, refracting 16 diamond-cut permutations according to a colour-sound spectrum of tonalities. In the process he effectively loosens up and liquifies the Eski riddim, rendering its bones and sinew in varying states of reactive, physical deliquescence or GIF-like micro-organisms.
For dancers and DJs, the fluid contours and viscous, displaced rhythmic anticipation of Mercury's Rainbow suggests myriad geometries for movement in-the-mix, and serves to single-handedly put to sleep a whole genre of also-ran, prosaic 'future grime' thru its methodical, inventively ground-up construction.
While it's difficult to say with certainty, if Mercury's Rainbow was issued at the same time it was created, it may have arguably altered the course of UK grime instrumentals in much the same way
Wiley's original template coined a whole new genre, essentially making it the last word in grime futurism, proper.

Pfirter and his label MindTrip are highly respected in the world of Techno. Being the main vessel for his own productions, it has also featured music and remixes by producers such as Chris Liebing, Lucy, Markus Suckut, Oscar Mulero and Developer, whilst also looking to support and break new artists. The fifteenth vinyl release is in charge of Italian talent Diego Amura who makes his MindTrip debut following releases on the likes of ARTS, Planet Rhythm and Konsequent. Having played alongside leading DJs such as Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Rødhåd, Sleeparchive and Dax J, his reputation is growing substantially with each gig and release. Diego's original tracks on the Automa EP incorporate a raw, analogue aesthetic, with a nod to the old school. Straight up jams ready for any dancefloor, they also have a feeling of menace and purpose from the twisted melodies. Jonas Kopp supplies the sole remix, who to many should need no introduction following his influential releases on Tresor, PoleGroup, Ilian Tape, CLR and many more. His rework concentrates on a more hypnotic flow, instilled with sparks of energy, funk and deep textures. This is MindTrip!
