Mancunian Hidden Spheres has showcased himself as one of the most innovative producers out there, releasing across the likes of Lobster Theremin, Rhythm Section International and his own imprint Fruit Merchant, all of which have been the perfect outlets for his inspiring blend of house and jazz. Church now features as the latest addition, who continue their stellar discography with 'Words Can't Explain', a collaborative EP which sees Hidden Spheres alongside singer-songwriter and guitarist, Oscar Jerome.

The collection begins with the original mix, lowering you into slick jazz guitar licks and echoing vocals, before Hidden Spheres provides a tight groove to lock around the melodies in fine form. The hybrid creation of jazz meets house binds perfectly as warm keys hang effortlessly in the air and popping guitar lines carry you onwards, supporting the sublime vocal from Oscar.

The dub version opens up room for the guitar licks and synth top lines to take centre stage, a real opportunity to marvel at the arrangement here.

The famous Jamaican record producer Duke Reid founded record label Treasure Isle in the 1960s. Some of his best production skills can be found on the compilation album Here Comes The Duke. Showcasing the talents of some of the giants of the rock steady era, the recordings, all issued during the latter half of '68, demonstrate just why the Duke is widely regarded as the king of the rock steady sound. The grooves are thoughtful and the brass section adds the right attitude to the different songs.

Time for some completely fresh business from a relative newcomer to the scene, though we're sure the name Cosmonection will be on your radars soon enough. The Parisian producer knocked us off our feet with a beautiful debut back in March this year on the fledgling Pont Neuf imprint. His '10 Feet Before The Horizon EP' was loaded with the just the kind of spaced- out, synth-heavy deep late night house that gets us all aquiver over here, so when a demo popped into the inbox we were all over it like a donkey on a waffle.

Here we present you with the Menorca EP; three blissed-out synth jams which explore the space between Balearic euphoria and Detroit futurism. On the title track a mournful Moog lead takes centre stage floating over a rising chord progression whilst punchy 909 drums bring the groove to the dance floor.

Next up, You picks up the pace for a deep and dubby house workout where soft focus pads converge with clattering percussion. Fragments of chiming melody bouncing around the stripped back groove.

Flipping over we have Light which shows Cosmonection at his most musical, layering up arpeggiating synths lines through a slowly building intro until a heavy groove with hefty kick joins the scene. The arrangement ebbs and flows as the rhythm drops out, rising synths creating anticipation and tension. This track feels like an ambitious fusion of musical styles and textures with 90's ambient colliding with Underground Resistance and coming up with a fresh sound for 2018 in the process.

Rounding off the record we have Delusions regulars, DJ supremos and all- round good guys Session Victim taking the reins on a remix of You. Keeping the warm, feel-good pads, the German duo inject a new found shuffle to the groove, bringing a wide-screen sensibility which adds a sublime yet dance-floor pleasing dimension to the release.

Abstand is a duo project by Martin Brugger and Simon Popp, both members of the Munich-based jazz group Fazer. On their debut 12 Opek they provide off-kilter polyrhythmic percussion psychedelia, layering live and unedited drum tracks blended with sparse electronics that add a subtle Middle Eastern tint. On the B side we're treated with a remix by Stefan Schwander aka Harmonious Thelonious. The Salon des Amateurs denizen serves us a pulsating and more club-leaning take showing why he can always be trusted with turning live percussion into bold, hypnotic jams for the perceptive clubgoer. The Munich-Duesseldorf axis has once again been proven fertile and we will likely hear more coming out of that connection.

For Fans Of Hot Chip, J-pop, Dada. Perlita Is Responsible For 'sex Instruments', The First Ever Song Made Entirely Out Of Sounds Produced By Sex Toys, Including Guitars Played With Vibrators, Bass Notes From Anal Beads And Strokers For Rhythm. Caballo Rojo ("red Horse") Is The Second Album By Perlita, A Band From Cádiz, Spain, Once Described By A British Critic As "a Hot Chip Fronted By Freddy Mercury". For The Follow-up To Their 2016 Debut Cangrejo Yeti ("yeti Crab"), The Threesome Have Come Up With A Titanic Piece That, Mood-wise, Jumps Around And Gallops Between Pop, Flashes Of Andalusian Folkloric Music, Drum Machines, Japanese Voices, Synths And Verses By Spanish Poet And Nobel Prize Laureate Juan Ramón Jiménez, Among Many Other Things.

The 8 track album features new collaborations with DJ Phil, Gantman, DJ Paypal, and Sirr Tmo, and a previously unreleased classic from 2013, co-written with DJ Rashad. WFM will be available in Vinyl and digital formats on September 7th 2018. Listening to WFM, the first thing that jumps out at you is Heavee's masterful use of synthesizers and sound design. You get the sense that these elements have been lovingly crafted during countless hours of sonic experimentation and invention in the studio. As Heavee explains, the primary focus on synths represents a departure from his usual creative process: 'Usually in my method of production, synths or sounds come somewhat close to last, likely after I find structure or rhythm. Basically, it's not something I particularly go for first, but this time around they became the building blocks'. Heavee has made a conscious decision to challenge himself, adopting a different approach to his past productions. In doing so, he moves away from the familiar sampling techniques which characterised his earlier work: 'I am a child of the last days of ghetto house culture as it shifted into juke/footwork. My parents, aunties, and uncles played house and ghetto house music at family functions, BBQs and house parties. That's my roots and where I came from. However, on this record, I chose to stray away from vocal samples, to give myself room to grow in different areas.' Heavee finds his voice in emphatic fashion on Cloud Ride feat. DJ Phil. His lyrical content and flow are on point as the track flips seamlessly from hip hop to footwork and back again. DJ Phil features on 3 tracks in total, a reflection of Heavee and Phil's close friendship and musical connection. As Heavee explains: 'Phil's studio is a safe space for me. Whether he is in the room or not, I don't feel weird about trying something that might be silly, taking it to the next level, or coming from a place of pure inspiration. Phil has historical, musical and cultural knowledge relevant to Chicago. He shares a lot of invaluable knowledge with me' WFM features It's Wack a classic collaboration with DJ Rashad that still sounds fresh today. Heavee remembers how Rashad would always stay connected, even during his relentless touring schedule: 'We'd get calls no matter where he was. We would talk about everything! He ALWAYS had new info; what new music was popping, scenes that were really accepting or supportive of what we were doing, blends that made the party go off, sites, adventures and just fuel us with support from him and give us living proof of the global support that was to come and the journey that was ahead of us.' Although Heavee makes music with the dancefloor firmly in mind, the sheer quality of his music transcends that space. So sit back and enjoy the next chapter in the Teklife story. Last spotted tomfooling as Tryck & Ton with Edvin Edvinsson, and prior to that as Tiedye on Mike Simonetti's Italians Do It Better imprint, subversive Swede Anton Klint makes his debut on Simonetti's latest label 2MR with two more vitally trippy, heavily dub-informed originals.
'Mun' chugs at a stately 107. Rippling in places, squiggling in others, there's an unabashed FX weirdness bubbling and popping over the insistent shimmering dubwise groove. Tweaking, freaking but running at such a smooth temper there's space between the chaos, Anton is balancing some heavily hypnotic alchemy here.
'Strupe' takes things even lower and slower. A dusty bluesy chugger, unhurried-yet-relentlessly building with a great sense of cosmic drama, listen and marvel as more elements are precision introduced throughout the seven minute trip. A masterclass in modern day honkytonk.
Remix-wise we're thrusted into the later hours with a technoid twist from Andre Laos. Maintaining Anton's original's trippy charm and measured pace but re-amping it with grittier foundation, teasing risers and an insurgent synth strike, it's the perfect complement to one of 2MR's most singular releases to date. Open wide.

Cong Burn go deep on their third record with Freerotation affiliate Duckett making his first appearance on the label and Chekov following up his recent contribution to Timedance. The heady A-side opens with Chekov's 'Spring' which has spent the last few years popping up in sets from Lena Willikens, Call Super and the Hessle Trio. Duckett's 'Lost In Israel' rolls through its first half carried by complex arpeggios before its layers are broken down and evaporated. On the B side Lack provides a extended and dubbed out DJ tool sounding like if Kowton released on Workshop. Haddon's 'Anabiosis' ties this batch together having first appeared on Cong Burn's debut CDR back in 2015 - since then it has become a go-to opener, closer and after party ender.

The boy wonder from down under, Slamb, delivers his first solo EP, packing three booty poppin' summer jams. Skillfully blending boogie and r&b samples on top of his slamming house beats to bring about that infinite pleasure just in time for a hot summer.

The long awaited debut release from Melbourne based producer / personality Mousse is here! Until now, Mousse aka Simon Barry has kept his craft close to his chest and we finally hear the result of years of hard studio labour in the bungalow. Barry has been a crucial part of Melbourne's dance community for the past five or so years, co-hosting the legendary disco party 'Misty Nights' with Danny Hotep as well being a fixture at The House De Frost and Animals Dancing parties.

On the A side we have the anthemic 'Sex and Acid' and 'Big Fat Party Popper' two raw house tracks with links to early Chicago classics. Xen & Yovav return to Malka Tuti in 2018 with full thrust and eyes to the future. After being responsible for the first 2 releases on the label, this time the enigmatic singer and the influential producer collaborate and deliver 2 original songs. Hayom Etmol is a 100% good vibe diy post-punkish poppy song with a flowing synthetic bass line, balearic guitar riffs and dreamy vocals. The B-Side, Shavit, is a vocal led song, with a repetitive guitar bassline and, trip guitar riffs and a minimalistic drum machine. low fi in its production Shavit feels as if it has been dug out of an abandoned 80s record store in the outskirts of Glasgow or Amsterdam, with a strong cold wave feel to it.
