Ohne die Möglichkeit, live aufzutreten und auch privat von den vielen Einschränkungen betroffen, verlagerte sich der Fokus von DISILLUSION in den letzten zwei Jahren voll und ganz auf die Band sowie auf die Aufnahme ihres vierten Albums "Ayam". Der Effekt ist hörbar: "Ayam" klingt tiefer, noch vielschichtiger und ausgereifter als seine hochgelobten Vorgängeralben. Der Detailreichtum in der Musik der deutschen Avantgardisten ist jedoch nie ein bloßer Selbstzweck, sondern die Komplexität dient immer dem Song und dem "Malen" von Bildern für das große Kopfkino. Während DISILLUSION enger zusammenrückten, kamen auch alte Gewohnheiten auf den Prüfstand. Um etwas Neues auszuprobieren, überließ die Band den Mix ihres neuen Albums erstmals anderen Händen und Ohren als den eigenen. Die Wahl fiel auf den renommierten Produzenten Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, MOONSPELL), was sich einmal mehr als wahrer Glücksgriff entpuppte. Die geradezu magische Fähigkeit des Schweden, die Eigenheiten einer Band deutlich herauszuarbeiten, verlieh DISILLUSIONs ohnehin schon einzigartigen Sound einen hörbaren Feinschliff. So wurde beispielsweise der Gesang in ein klangliches Rampenlicht gestellt. DISILLUSION gründeten sich im Jahr 1994 in Zwickau um Sänger und Gitarrist Andy Schmidt herum. Die Ostdeutschen schafften das seltene Kunststück, sich bereits mit der Veröffentlichung ihres Debütalbums "Back to Times of Splendor" im Jahr 2004 einen exzellenten Namen im Bereich des progressiven Melodic Death Metal zu erwerben. Mit dem folgenden Langspieler "Gloria" (2006) gelang der Band ein Quantensprung und eine rasante Evolution in mehrere Richtungen gleichzeitig. Als zuletzt "The Liberation" im Jahr 2019 erschien, beschrieben Kritiker das Album als logische Fortsetzung von "Back to Times of Splendor". In den Songs spiegelten sich 15 Jahre zusätzliche Erfahrung in Andy Schmidts musikalischer Entwicklung wider. "The Liberation" kombinierte die besten Qualitäten von DISILLUSION: Das perfekte Zusammenspiel von massivem Metal verschmolz mit Momenten purer Euphorie aber auch ruhiger Introspektion, die eine klangliche Achterbahnfahrt voller leidenschaftlicher Emotionen erzeugte. Mit "Ayam" segeln DISILLUSION erneut zwischen den Sternen zu neuen Konstellationen der harten Gitarrensounds. Dabei bleiben die deutschen Avantgarde-Pioniere ihrem generellen Kurs treu, werfen aber auch immer wieder den Anker aus, um funkelnde neue Klangwelten zu erkunden. "Ayam" bietet eher eine aufregende Evolution als radikale Revolution. Dieses Album ist ein goldenes Ticket für die außergewöhnliche musikalische Reise des Lebens. Stargeigerin Anne-Sophie Mutter und Cellist Pablo Ferrández, einer der vielversprechendsten Newcomer der Klassik, veröffentlichen ein gemeinsames Album mit dem Doppelkonzert von Brahms und dem selten zu hörenden Klaviertrio von Clara Schumann bei Sony Classical am 4. November 2022. Die Einspielung erscheint als CD, Vinyl und digital.Anne-Sophie Mutter hat für diese Zusammenarbeit mit ihrem Protegé, dem Cellisten und Sony Classical Exklusiv-Künstler Pablo Ferrández, das Konzert für Violine, Violoncello und Orchester a-moll op. 102 von Johannes Brahms mit der Tschechischen Philharmonie und dem Dirigenten Manfred Honeck sowie das rare Klaviertrio g-moll op. 17 von Clara Schumann mit dem Pianisten und langjährigen musikalischen Partner Lambert Orkis aufgenommen. Das Album ist ab dem 4. November 2022 bei Sony Classical erhältlich.Cellist Pablo Ferrández, der für sein hochgelobtes Debütalbum "Reflections" bei Sony Classical den Opus Klassik-Preis 2021 als "Nachwuchskünstler des Jahres" erhielt, war Mitglied von Anne-Sophie Mutters handverlesenem Ensemble Mutter's Virtuosi. Anne-Sophie Mutter zählt seit ihrer frühen Zusammenarbeit mit Herbert von Karajan, mit dem sie 1983 auch ihr erstes Brahm Doppelkonzert aufnahm, zweifellos zu den Größen der Klassik-Welt. Neben ihrem überragenden Können und hohen Ansehen hat sie sich stets dafür eingesetzt, neue Generationen von Streichern zu fördern und zu unterstützen, beispielsweise in der von ihr ins Leben gerufenen Anne-Sophie Mutter Stiftung zur Förderung von musikalisch Hochbegabten, darunter auch Pablo Ferrández.Das Doppelkonzert von Johannes Brahms nahmen beide Künstler live in Prag im Januar 2022 mit der Tschechischen Philharmonie unter Manfred Honeck auf, nachdem sie bereits in Madrid und Oxford mit demselben Werk aufgetreten waren. Das Konzert ist ein Kammermusikwerk mit symphonischer Wirkung, eine anregende Mischung von musikalischem Miteinander, wie auch Konfrontation. In der Zusammenarbeit mit Pablo Ferrández erlebte Anne-Sophie Mutter eine "frische, aufgeschlossene und neue" künstlerische Partnerschaft mit einem Musiker, der ihrer Meinung nach "an der Spitze" der neuen Generation von Cellisten steht. Clara Schumann, künstlerisch untrennbar mit Johannes Brahms verbunden, war eine weibliche Komponistin in einer Männerwelt und wurde oftmals und für lange Zeit übersehen. "Beide bewunderten sich künstlerisch und Johannes Brahms fragte sie oft um Rat", so Anne-Sophie Mutter. Ihre menschliche und künstlerische Beziehung verband und inspirierte sie. Für die Geigerin spielte bei der Auswahl des Repertoires auch die Vielfalt eine wichtige Rolle, um auch eine von der Musikgeschichte vernachlässigte Komponistin ins Rampenlicht zu rücken. Clara Schumanns Klaviertrio g-moll von 1846 ist eines ihrer besten Werke - ein Stück voller Turbulenz, beeindruckender Komplexität und tiefer Sehnsucht, das Anne-Sophie Mutter und insbesondere ihren regelmäßigen Klavierpartner Lambert Orkis zu einer neuen Dimension musikalischer Konversation animierte. Die Studio-Aufnahme entstand in München und ist unvergleichlich in ihrem Fokus auf Clara Schumanns individueller Musikalität."Es inspiriert mich, mit Pablo solch ein musikalisches Gespräch zu führen", sagt Anne-Sophie Mutter über ihre Arbeit mit Pablo Ferrández. We couldn't be more delighted to have him on board the good ship Soul Flip for our eleventh 45 release. First up for the Djar One treatment is Mary Wells' Northern-leaning stomper, "Can't You See (You're Losing Me)". Already a dancefloor bomb, Djar One ramps up the energy still further to devastating effect. On the flip, he takes on the seldom-heard original 1965 version of "Uncle Willie Good Time" by The Astors with similarly superb results.

The renowned trio of Keiji Haino, Jim O’Rourke and Oren Ambarchi return to Black Truffle with their 11th release, “Caught in the dilemma of being made to choose” This makes the modesty which should never been closed off itself Continue to ask itself: “Ready or not?” Demonstrating once again their commitment to continual experimentation in instrumentation and approach, the record begins with a long-distance collaboration made in response to a commission from New York’s Issue Project Room in 2021 during widespread lockdowns and travel limitations. A unique piece in the trio’s extensive body of work, this side-long epic finds Haino performing on metal percussion, O’Rourke on electronics and Ambarchi on gongs and bells. Initially dominated by rapid patterns on resonant, high-pitched tuned percussion, the piece sets Haino’s dynamic and dramatic performance against a calm backdrop of cycling electronics, thrumming gong strikes and hanging bell tones. The performance develops a heightened, intensely concentrated atmosphere reminiscent of Haino’s classic Tenshi No Ginjinka or his Nijiumu project; when Haino moves to clashing hand cymbals in its second half, the piece’s ritualistic energy suggests aspects of the music of Tibetan Buddhism.

The remainder of the double LP documents the trio live at Tokyo’s SuperDeluxe (the location of all but their very first recording) in a wide-ranging set recorded in December 2017. The concert opens, in another first for the trio, with Haino on drums, O’Rourke on Hammond organ and Ambarchi on his signature Leslie cabinet guitar tones. Haino’s explosively untutored approach to the drumkit will be familiar to some listeners from the radical duo iteration of Fushitsusha heard on Origin’s Hesitation. Setting flurries of rapid activity against moments of silence, his drumming here at times suggests Milford Graves in its tumbling toms and thudding kick-drum propulsion. Accompanied by O’Rourke’s organ and Ambarchi’s guitar, which in their shared use of long tones and shifting modulation speeds almost blend into a single voice, the opening sections of this performance are some of the most magical music the trio has committed to tape thus far.

After an interlude of spoken vocals in both Japanese and English, Haino makes a dramatic entrance on guitar. Against O’Rourke and Ambarchi’s increasingly intense electronic backdrop, Haino unleashes a stunning passage of slowly moving chromatic melodies and sudden shrieking explosions bathed in distortion and reverb. By the time we reach the third side, the guitar/bass/drums power trio is established and lurches into a passage of massive, lumbering rock that threatens to fall apart at every beat, O’Rourke’s strummed chordal work on six string bass creating a harmonic density equivalent to a second guitar. An abrupt edit throws the listener in media res into a frantic locked groove grounded by fuzzed out bass patterns and caveman drums. As Haino moves through a variety of approaches, from massive edifices of stuttering fuzz to ominous swarms of feedback, the trio eventually stumble into a kind of Harmolodic military tattoo, Haino’s guitar weaving and slashing across the rhythm section’s irregular accents. When James Pepper met Riccardo Paffetti (Black Loops) a bromance was quick to bloom. After touring the Berlin-based Italian across Australia, the two soon realised they not only loved each others company but records too.

Following Black Loops maiden trip down under, the dudes stayed in touch and led to Pep crashing on Riccardo’s sofa bed for a week in Berlin. The duo went to work in the studio, brewing up some gems that were released on classy imprints Neovinyl Recordings and Haŵs.

It was on Paffetti’s most recent trip to Oz (well before the world shutdown) that brought about their most anticipated tracks to date. Bunkering down in a Marrickville studio, the cross-continent pairing got up close and personal with some neat hardware. Experimenting with an array of compressors, a TR8 and the Elektron Analog Four MKII ‘Three Drops’ EP was born.

The EP is a lively affair. A rampant message to club folk far and wide. Founded on lo-fi percussion, a crunchy kick and echoed key sections ‘Three Drops’ throws a flurry of punches. Varied combinations of electro, acid and techno rolling together just right. Here we have a welcome jab of adrenaline. You can almost visualise the duo grinning from ear-to-ear, as they bring in each piece of machinery.

'Three Drops’ made its live debut at Pepper’s recent Boiler Room in Sydney and has since taken the interwebs by storm. Hundred’s of ID requests later and the time is right to share this gem as the clubs open back up across the globe.

The B side and new single has arrived in ‘Arp Love’. A frantically beautiful dose of techno. Soaring risers make way for pulsating chords and shimmering TR8 patterns, as we’re led deep into a clubby rabbit hole. In signature Black Loops style, a spoken word sample on the disappointment of love breaks the piece in two.

For a burgeoning Sydney producer like Pep it must be truly amazing to co-write alongside Riccardo - an artist who’s clocked tens of millions of streams worldwide, claimed Deep House Artist of The Year (2017) via Traxsouce plus released weaponry on revered labels such as Shall Not Fade, Toy Tonics, Gruuv and Good Ratio.

We’re grateful James Pepper and Black Loops got together. These two on tracks makes sense.

The rise and fall of the self and how the abyss can be a turning point for some and a passageway to oblivion for others. It is blunt and to the point, just like countless aspects of life.”

Bristol native Daffy returns to Shall Not Fade with his second solo EP, focusing on the darker aspects of 4x4 garage.

The title track typifies Daffy's unique and forward-thinking take on UKG. The dynamic chant of a dancehall MC is ramped up to invigorate a UKG stomper, the product: a rude, flavoursome track which evokes Spooky and Riko Dan's "High Power". Serious. The aptly-named "Darker Days" is more reminiscent of El-B with cool-toned low end growls before "Take It Easy" and "Warped" bring things to an energetic close with a stomping 4x4 rhythm and warped bassline which nod to old school speed garage.

Brain Feelings is the debut EP from South London band moa moa. With glitchy synths, pulsing drums and catchy choruses, moa moa are proving that pop can be weird and accessible at the same time; the perfect psychedelic soundtrack to the comfortable tedium of life.

2021 saw moa moa ramp up the excitement around them with a pair of exquisite singles including the kaleidoscopic pop of ‘Drive’ – which features on forthcoming EP ‘Brain Feelings’ – and their Speedy Wunderground single ‘Coltan Candy’ which came out to rapturous acclaim from 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens, Don Letts, and Shaun Keaveny, and publications including NME, DIY, Paste Magazine, and Brooklyn Vegan.

The band’s debut EP ‘Brain Feelings’ explores states of emotional suppression and emotional unintelligence. James says, “I often feel that, when balancing every aspect of my life, I don’t have time left to process and express my emotions. The feelings just get stuck in my brain, making me feel insular, disconnected and less able to participate in the world.

Bogotá’s UNIDAD IDEOLÓGICA sound is pure high intensity hardcore. The eight songs on their debut 12” clock in below 15 minutes and not a single second is wasted. Their sound is very bass and drum driven, full of breakneck, pummelling relentless beats which do not rest for a second, setting a claustrophobic atmosphere for the noise to grow. Feedback ladden guitars at times verge on BM, which brings RAW POWER, EXECUTE, GISM and DISARM to mind, creating the perfect background for a raging vocalist full of venom to sing about fear, control, technology, and the rampant neoliberalism destroying their land and literally killing as we speak. In a natural departure from their intoxicating signature new-wave-jazz-funk sound, STR4TA present the double side 12” vinyl - “When You Call Me/Night Flight” available 8th July 2022.

'GUILI GUILI' is a double AA side 7" single, with an additional remix by Art Of Tones on the digital version.

French slang for "tickle", 'GUILI' is an epic disco-funk piece inspired by the likes of Azymuth, Herbie Hancock and Marcos Valle, but incorporated with Souleance's trademark sounds of fuzzy bass-heavy electronica, synths and samples, giving the track a fresh contemporary twist. Meanwhile, the (digital only) Art Of Tones mix ramps up the disco elements heavily, incorporating some vocals, strings and horn stabs to create some sure fire heat for the summertime. The flipside 'TORO' is a much more tweaked-out, synth-heavy bomb, influenced by artists such as Prince, Parliament and French electronic club music. All tracks mark the evolution of the duo into a full live band, whilst remaining true to their sonic mission of producing music crafted especially for the dancefloor.

The band have been performing live at various festivals and venues across Europe, with upcoming appearances scheduled at the Pura Vida Festival, Greece in August and Jazz à Vienne in July.

Group Theory: Black Music is a stunning new statement from South African drummer and composer Tumi Mogorosi who is one of the foremost drummers working anywhere in the world, with a flexible, powerful style that brings a distinctive South African inflection to the polyrhythmic tradition of Elvin Jones, Max Roach and Art Blakey.

"A Ragged Ghost" is the eighth full-length album from electronic producer Jonas Reinhardt. Following albums on Kranky, Not Not Fun, Constellation Tatsu, and more, his debut release for Trouble In Mind brings together 11 new pieces that explore themes of life & death, netherworlds, and the liminal spaces in between. Taken together as a single narrative, the album offers a stirring exploration of mortality and immortality in what Reinhardt describes as 'a dance of religious syncretism, navigating spaces between the living and the dead'. "A Ragged Ghost" finds him synthesizing influences organically from familiar teutonic strains to the intense austerity of early 21st century electronic pioneers such as Biosphere and Susumu Yokota. A whisper of the Italo-disco-esque romps of Jonas' 2012's "Foam Fangs" EP & 2013's "Mask of The Maker" LP merge with his more kosmische leanings into a sinister, slightly funky, but also studious suite that at times feels like a lost sound library record from the KPM archives. Openers "Ape & The Universal Axis" and "In Lotto Commodore" decidedly sound like a selection from a lost film score while others like the bubbling "Sly Tomb" recall the works of Roedelius or Vangelis' serene soundscapes. Meanwhile, fans of the electro-ambience of Manuel Göttsching's strobe-light, proto-house (on his seminal "E2-E4") or the pulsing insistence of John Carpenter's visceral non-horror scores (i.e. "Escape From New York" or "Assault on Precinct 13") will find a lot to love about songs like "Tumb Tumb" and "Wretched Orchestra of Armistice".

Set for worldwide release on Friday, May 27, via long standing German record label Embassy One, UUUU is the seventh full-length studio album from WhoMadeWho. A beautifully crafted record featuring thirteen original productions.

Black Truffle is pleased to announce World in World, the latest solo offering from prolific Berlin-based guitarist-composer Julia Reidy. Where the recent trilogy of LP releases – brace, brace (Slip, 2019), In Real Life (Black Truffle, 2019), and Vanish (Editions Mego, 2020) – focussed on increasingly lush electronic settings for Reidy’s propulsive fingerpicking and auto-tuned vocals, arranged into wide-ranging side-long epics, World in World finds Reidy refocusing on the core elements of their approach while simultaneously pushing into challenging new areas. Comprising nine pieces ranging between two and seven minutes in length, the album’s opening title track promptly introduces the distinctive palette of just-intoned electric guitars, subtle electronic processing, and voice that is rigorously explored throughout. Where much of Reidy’s guitar work on previous recordings explored rapidly pulsed cycling figures, here notes often hang in the air in a more spacious, lyrical fashion. The elasticity of rhythm and non-linear repetition of pitches initially suggests improvisation until the listener becomes aware of the precise arrangements of spatialised lines. At times, World in World suggests classic bedroom electric guitar works of the 1990s such as Loren Connors’ Airs or Roy Montgomery’s Scenes from the South Island; like those works, Reidy’s possesses a wonderfully live ambience, with frequent pedal clicks adding to the music’s powerful sense of intimacy. In Reidy’s case, however, the yearning, melancholic mood of Connors or Montgomery is tempered by the unorthodox guitar tuning, which at points produces a unique and uncomfortable effect somewhere between the hyper-precision of Harry Partch or Lou Harrison and Jandek’s slack-stringed descent into the void. While World in World plots out its terrain with a bold single-mindedness that allows some pieces to appear almost as variations on a common theme, subtle changes in emphasis distinguish each track. Tactile percussive interjections skitter across the tremolo tones of ‘Paradise in Unrecognisable Colours’, while ‘Ajar’ ramps up the role played by the electronics, with glitching pitch-shifted and back-masked textures threaded through the guitars and thickly harmonised vocal layers. Ranging from autotuned melodic lines to buried murmurs, Reidy’s voice is a frequent presence throughout these nine pieces, at times creating the impression that a more conventional series of songs lurks underneath the chiming microtonal guitars. On the stunning ‘Poised’, whispers and distant, ghostly wails surround the layers of guitars, at times suggesting the foggiest outer reaches of Liz Harris’ Grouper. Both rigorously experimental and emotive, World in World is undoubtedly Julia Reidy’s finest work yet.

In ”Hands” - auch bekannt als ’Nine and a Half Songs For Nine and a Half Fingers’ - stellt die Künstlerin sich selbst ins Rampenlicht und spricht Themen an, die manchmal viel schwieriger zu bewältigen sind, nur um dann optimistisch und heil daraus hervorzugehen. Dazu gehören Fragen des Vertrauens, des Alkoholmissbrauchs, der Stagnation, der Selbstzensur und der Selbstverbesserung, von denen einige durch
persönliche Erinnerungen an entscheidende Momente, die sich in den letzten zwei Jahren angesammelt haben, angesprochen werden. Jedes dieser Themen wird jedoch von einer Stimme vorgetragen, die mit Freude, Einfallsreichtum und Einfühlungsvermögen gesegnet ist.

Venom is the 2018 superhero film which features the Marvel Comics characters Eddie Brock and Venom. It’s the first film in Sony’s Spider- Man Universe (SSU) and is directed by Ruben Fleisch. Venom follows the story of failed reporter Brock (Tom Hardy) who is bonded to an alien entity, giving him superpowers as long as they share the same body. The being takes a liking to Earth and decides to protect it. The film was a box-office success and in 2021, the sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released.

Its score is composed by Ludwig Göransson, who worked before with Ruben Fleisch on the successful Black Panther, for which he received the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media and the Academy Award for Best Original Score. The Swedish composer has also scored films such as Tenet and the Rocky franchise entries Creed and Creed II. As a record producer, he has received an equal amount of acclaim, having produced for Adele, Chance The Rapper, Travis Scott and Childish Gambino, including Gambino’s iconic hit “This Is America”.

Venom is available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered copies on “Black Clouds” coloured (crystal clear & black marbled) vinyl. The album is housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with a silver foil finish, includes a printed innersleeve and an exclusive fridge magnet.

Toma Kami returns to Livity Sound for a third EP of provocative, experimental club gear. At the helm of his own Man Band label the French producer continues to explore a hybridised style which favours fractured beats, playful samples and occasional psychedelic flourishes.

Compared to the busier sound of previous releases, minimalism informs Toma’s approach on LIVITY053 as he sits his crunchy drums and weighty low-end in a tangibly spacious mix on ‘Amapicante’. Even within a stripped-down context, his unique approach shines through as ‘Later To The Bone’ progressively ramps up in scratched and scuffed sonic interference and ‘Mzecal’ trips over its own fragmented found-sound drum formations.
