IN GLASS - SCRATCHING THE SURFACE

Phara returns with a second project under his In Glass alias. In 'Scratching the Surface', we're light years away from the heavier, more instructive dance records that have become synonymous with Phara's style. In this EP, the Belgian artist reaffirms his celestial, delicate sound in four tracks that delve further deeper into the emotional soundscape proposed in the first EP.

'Sally' begins the project with the most dance floor oriented of the four tracks, proposing an intoxicating blend of styles that bloom throughout its six minutes. Soft pads and bright keys twinkle along a cradling rhythm as In Glass delivers a truly musical piece that sifts through memories. Percussion is then taken out of the equation as 'All Things (424 Version)' comes and lands softly on the center stage. Lush, ambient waves come lapping at the shore of 'Scratching the Surface', describing nothing but space and serenity - a breath from everything. The dreamy tone of 'All Things' oscillates along reassuringly into the B side, keeping the tempo low and the sound design organic. Here, we step into In Glass's world of dub techno and adjacent sounds that defined his first record last year. 'Plateau' rises slowly from the wax with a round low end and suspended chords that hover high above. Opening stabs over a harmonic bassline make a head massage of a track that sways along. The raw emotion behind In Glass's music is inviting, flashing by as ethereal synths open and close to install a personal, meditative experience of electronic music. The percussion remains discrete, allowing the harmonic information to wash over the listener into the last track of the EP. He concludes with 'My Idle Hands', pressing further into the dub techno sound that echoes through a cathedral of memories. Blurry shapes pass by over a more determined rhythm section, confirming the intimate nature of In Glass's music. The music wanders along, its head in the clouds but with a full heart, telling stories of being lost and finding home.

Crystal Distortion - Better Than Drugs Vol 1

Network 23 Recordings proudly unveils its first full digital album release since its revival in partnership with Triple Vision Distribution. It will also release as 3 Vinyl EP's over the course of this year.

Better Than Drugs, the latest album from Crystal Distortion, delivers a high-impact sonic snapshot of both personal upheaval and the turbulent state of the world today. Framed by flashes of media soundbites old and new, the album tackles themes ranging from gentrification in Landlords Hooked On Crack (Breakbeat Version) to the right to protest in Got2StopThem, and the mass manipulation of society in The Chicken Strikes Back.
Launching with a hard-techno surge, the record moves fluidly through a spectrum of tough, mid-tempo rhythms, accented by breakbeats, electro-leaning syncopations, and bass-driven cuts like StepGPT-all while staying firmly rooted in dance-floor intent. Designed for movement and built for impact, Better Than Drugs is a versatile, high-energy release ready to ignite any setting.

Crystal Distortion is a pioneering force in the underground electronic music scene, known for fusing hard-driving techno, breakbeat energy, and improvisational live performance into a signature sound that helped define the European free-party movement. His work blends raw analog textures with relentless rhythmic experimentation, creating high-intensity sets that feel both chaotic and meticulously crafted. As a long-standing member of the Spiral Tribe collective, he has influenced generations of producers and performers, pushing the boundaries of what electronicmusic can be in both form and context.

Byard Lancaster, Keno Speller - Exactement LP 2x12"

At the beginning of the 1960s, at the Berklee College of Music, Byard Lancaster met some feisty friends: Sonny Sharrock, Dave Burrell and Ted Daniel. It is easy to see why he rapidly became involved in free jazz. Once he was settled in New York, he appeared on Sunny Murray Quintet, recorded under the leadership of the drum crazy colleague of Albert Ayler.

In 1968, the saxophonist and flutist recorded his first album under his own name: It’s Not Up To Us. The following year he came to Paris in the wake of... Sunny Murray. He would come back to France in 1971 (again with Murray) and in 1973 (without Murray for a change). This is when he met Jef Gilson, the pianist and producer who encouraged him to record under his own name again. On Palm Records (Gilson’s label), he would release four albums: Us, Mother Africa, Exactement and Funny Funky Rib Crib.

The recording of “Exactement” required two sessions in the studio: February 1st and May 18th 1974 – in between the two dates, Lancaster recorded, alongside Clint Jackson, the excellent Mother Africa. Two names appear on the cover of “Exactement”: Lancaster (Byard) and Speller (Keno). Byard Lancaster wanted to be precise, moving regularly from one instrument to another: first on piano, which was the first instrument he learned. On “Sweet Evil Miss Kisianga”, his inspiration is first and foremost Coltrane (even if leaning more towards Alice than John), this announces the storm to follow.

It is Lancaster’s horn-playing which really stands out: on alto (the sound of which is transformed by an octavoice on one track, "Dr. Oliver W. Lancaster") or soprano saxophones, as well as on flute or bass clarinet, the musician walks a tightrope making the most of all the risks he takes. Using the full register of his instruments, he has fun with the possibilities.

Then, Lancaster invokes or evokes Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy and even Prokofiev, before going into a danse alongside Keno Speller on percussion. Above all, he has a unique sound. Byard Lancaster, on whatever instrument he plays and by continually seeking, always ends up hitting the right note... ends up by playing exactement the note he had to play.

Sucata Tapes present the debut album by I'A'V, a conjuration born from an invitation extended by gnration in Braga to Inês Malheiro, completed Violeta Azevedo. Three inescapable figures amidst the portuguese scene, whose precious body of work resonates here in ineffable style.

A blessed triangulation of artists, each with a fully formed vision and a path forged across multiple fronts, I'A'V trace a course of dreamlike songs that blend into a long and volatile poem, where a rarefied electronic landscape of arpeggios, glassy textures, and ruptures seeps into the lyricism of Casellas's cello lines and Azevedo's flute breaths, guided by the Voice.

At times stripped bare, at others soaked in a torrent of post-human effects, settled on Malheiro's expressiveness and elevated by the Azevedo. Volatile Poem, recorded during the mentioned residency, unveils mysteries and conceals realities in a fluid sequence of communal ascension moment

Definite Grooves - Alive EP

The British duo Andrew Eggleton and Daniel Hird, better known as Definite Grooves, return to Groove Culture with a new vinyl release that is pure energy for the dancefloor. Titled "Alive", this EP perfectly captures the essence of the label: delivering high-quality dance music curated with exceptional detail.

The record opens with the title track "Alive", a vibrant anthem that immediately sets the duo's intentions: solid grooves and infectious atmospheres. It follows with "Everyday (Move My Soul)", a track that, as the name suggests, hits all the right notes thanks to an impeccable rhythmic section and irresistible soul-infused warmth.

Side B keeps the momentum high with "Feel It", a track designed to keep the club moving during peak moments, while the closing is entrusted to "Don’t Do Disco". Despite the ironic title, the track plays with sophisticated house sounds, reaffirming the technical mastery of Eggleton and Hird.

In short, "Alive" is a must-have for vinyl collectors and DJs looking for that distinctive, elegant, and powerful sound that only Definite Grooves can deliver under the Groove Culture umbrella.

Hyena - Heavy Metal Heroes
  • 1: The Evil Monk
  • 2: Tokyo Nights
  • 3: Rock Forever
  • 4: Twighlight

DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present Heavy Metal Heroes, a special split EP between Peru’s HYENA and Japan’s RISINGFALL, on CD and 12” vinyl formats. Heavy metal is living a global explosion, driven by underground bands that keep alive the legacy of those Heavy Metal Heroes who created eternal anthems. This titular mini-album brings together two bands separated by a great distance but united in an undying thirst for true metal. From Cajamarca, Peru’s HYENA return after touring worldwide in support of their DYING VICTIMS debut album, About Rock and Roll. Carrying forward the spirit that defined their first record, the Peruvians deliver two brand-new tracks as the first strike from their forthcoming second album. Raw and bloodthirsty, the band bring their turn-of-the-‘80s style to a boil here, more anthemic and charismatic than ever. From Tokyo, Japan’s RISINGFALL continue their ascent with new material following 2022’s DYING VICTIMS debut album Rise or Fall and last year’s self-released EP Dungeon’s Call. After their performance at Germany’s Keep It True Rising Festival, the band has established itself among today’s true torchbearers of heavy metal. Their two brand-new tracks here bring a dazzling display of old-metal values filtered through that uniquely Eastern lens. Heavy Metal Heroes stands as a statement of real underground heavy metal: forged in tradition, carried across continents, and kept alive by those who remain faithful to its sound and spirit. In support of the release, HYENA and RISINGFALL will join forces for a co-headlining triple strike of shows in Tokyo in June

LOST IN KYIV - WE'RE ALL GOING TO BE FINE

Over the course of more than a decade, the French quartet Lost in Kyiv have refined a sound that fuses cinematic ambition, electronic precision, and visceral live energy into something unmistakably their own. With their new album, `We're All Going To Be Fine', they push that identity further than ever; sharpening their production, intensifying their dynamics, and embracing a darker, more immersive sonic architecture. Lost in Kyiv's music has always thrived on tension between the organic and the synthetic. On `We're All Going To Be Fine', that integration reaches a new level of clarity and depth. The writing and production process was long and exacting, allowing the band to refine every transition and tonal detail. Songs unfold with architectural precision, motifs are introduced subtly before expanding into vast, multi-layered climaxes. Dynamics are handled with patience and control, silence and minimalism are deployed as strategically as explosive crescendos. This careful pacing gives the album a cinematic flow and larger narrative in which struggle and compassion coexist. Guitars surge and recede in wide, panoramic arcs. At moments they shimmer and support, at others they thrash violently, accumulating layers of distortion and harmonic overtones. Acoustic instrumentation is interwoven with sequenced synth lines, pulsing arpeggiators, and carefully sculpted electronic textures that give the band's sound a sense of forward propulsion. Rhythm plays a central role in Lost in Kyiv's identity. The drums provide impact and structure, locking into intricate patterns that interact with bass-driven synth pulses. At times the groove feels almost mechanical, echoing the steady insistence of electronic music; at others, it breathes and swells with human elasticity. This interplay creates a powerful sense of movement, an impression that the music is always advancing, even in its most introspective passages. "We almost consider this album as the first record of a new version of the band. That's why we decided to use the name Lost in Kyiv now. We don't want to erase the past, but it really feels like a new direction. Artistically, I think this album marks the beginning of a new direction, louder and more metal-oriented than what we did before." Vladimir Spivakov, Alexander Malter, Dietmar Schwalke, Sergej Bezrodny - Arvo Pärt: Alina

Ellis Dee - Synthetic Disco / Atmosphere

This is a bit of a rare gem from the Ellis Dee. Back in 1995 he made the track 'Synthetic Disco' but for some unknown reason (I'll have to ask him and let you know) it was never released and remained a mystical track lost in time. The flipside 'Atmosphere' was only released as part of the Total Science 2 compilation that came out in 1996. Both tracks compliment each other beautifully and are both very much on a similar tip to his Norty But Nice 12" that we put out a few years ago. Deep but rolling drum and bass for the massive!

Darren Roach - Lovejoy EP

Veteran UK producer Darren Roach delivers Archivio Records third installment with a four track EP of certified dance floor gold, heavily inspired by a 2025 trip to NYC to visit the Brooklyn based crew.

A1: A Free Democracy pairs a booming bass line with edgy panned strings, trippy melodic elements and a series of politically relevant vocal samples to create a high energy roller, that continually evolves to keep your attention til the very end!

A2: Schizzle my Schnizzle is a warm, groovy, deeper take on the classic tech house sound, with fizzling percussion, sparkling melodies and catchy warping bass, reminiscent of vintage E.B.E. A sure fire after hours hit.

B1: Feel the Rhythm can best be described as a peak time bomb, laced with dubbed out reggae vocals, a big rolling bass line, lush chords and punchy, driving drums. No dance floor can resist this one!

B2: The Train of Thought defines the term chugger. A serious DJ tool, with booming bass, crunchy hypnotic drums, wigged out melodic elements and field recordings of real New York trains recorded during Darren’s trip. A one way ticket to party town!

Darren’s been on fire lately and this release continues his run of red hot records. If you’re looking for a multi-purpose tool kit of high quality tech house gems, look no further than the Lovejoy EP.

GLEDD - My Church Is On Fire LP

Although he's released on numerous labels since debuting almost a decade ago, Eduardo Barbi aka Gledd returns to his own reliable imprint Saint Wax. On his fourth vinyl missive for the imprint, My Church Is On Fire, the Italian producer delivers a quartet of cuts that happily boast samples from vintage gospel cuts. It's a simple idea, brilliantly executed, as proved by the righteous, spiritual, organ-rich stomp of opener 'Let It Shine', featuring guest lead vocals from Steve Salmaso. Elsewhere, 'Mama Don't Preach' is a whirlwind of sampled gospel soul vocals, expansive piano solos and chunky deep house beats, 'Be Real' is a heavily electronic slab of gospel-house deepness, and 'Back on My Stay' is a locked-in, late-night delight with an effortlessly soulful finish.

M-HIGH - Dark Web Pinger

"Life & Death has been a bucketlist label for me since day one. I've always been inspired by the way DJ Tennis approaches music and the whole philosophy around the label. What always stood out to me is the variety in the releases. One record can be deep and emotional, the next one raw and club-focused, but it still feels like it belongs to the same world. That balance is something I am always chasing in my music. Next to this: in a world that is focussed more and more on short term wins and commercial performance, i really can tell that Tennis still values the art and process of making music the most, which is something i really appreciate"

I remember hearing him play at Circoloco in Ibiza and later in the Loft in Amsterdam and thinking: 'fuck, I should've send him the tune I made last week.' When I came back home, I immediately put together a pack of tracks to send to him. Two were released as part of the Fabric release, and 4 of them are on this EP.
For me, this release is a next step in my career, and I'm happy and proud to be part of a label that is both legendary and super relevant in 2026."
