SPFDJ steps up for her long-awaited debut EP, Heel Thyself, out Friday 7th November on Intrepid Skin.

A core figure in grassroots techno circuits, and an internationally lauded DJ, SPFDJ's ascent reflects a passion for music governed by love and grit in equal measure. At once providing a gleefully chaotic two-fingers to dance music's self-serious establishment, whilst also flexing an ever-expanding knowledge of its roots and potentials, her musical armoury is renowned the world over for inspiring debauchery and sweat-soaked hedonism.

As an artist whose journey has been defined by challenging the norms of electronic music, SPFDJ's rebel spirit is recognised locally and globally, but guiding this attitude is a vulnerability to the realities of the music industry, and the rise of conservatism that permeates every aspect of life. And whilst sensitive to the use of buzzwords like community, it's ultimately a respect for the people who keep these scenes alive that motivates her artistry.

In releasing this EP, she taps into a more vulnerable side. The title - a nod to internal healing processes, and a play on words to motivate queers and women to 'boot up for battle' against increasingly oppressive structures - shines a light on some of the values she holds up to electronic music culture. At once playfully chaotic and deeply energising, Heel Thyself spins us through a cyclone of kicks, punches, and noise.

Opener 'Cluster B Intro' is a tempo-twisting barrage of gabber led by a robotic vocal command, setting the scene for pretty much anything to happen. 'That Stiletto Track' kicks in like a tweaked out distortion of 90s trance before spiralling upwards into a storm of heavy breaks. 'F*ckboi' is hot n heavy electro - classic in its structure, but with the added industrial touch of hammerdrill synths and razor sharp percussion. Swinging into a bouncier state, 'The Hot in Psychotic' flings ricocheting rhythms through frantic claps, with a donk to keep things moving. Rounding things off, 'Mindless Counting' flies higher with pummeling drums lifted by a touch of euphoria.

A debut laced with both defiance and self-reckoning, Heel Thyself finds the rebel looking inwards - vulnerable, but sharpened and ready.

Gong Gong Gong aus Peking und Mong Tong aus Taipeh sind gleichgesinnte Duos, die für ihre cineastischen und rohen Klänge bekannt sind und transglobale Melodien mit unwiderstehlichen Grooves verbinden. Auf Mongkok Duel haben sich die Bands zusammengetan, um einen imaginären Soundtrack für einen verlorenen Kung-Fu-Film zu kreieren. Es handelt sich zweifellos um die musikalische Untermalung einer übernatürlichen Geschichte über Ehre, Intrigen und (natürlich) Rache. ,Mongkok Duel" knüpft an die langjährige Rhythm 'n' Drone-Kollaborationsreihe von Gong Gong Gong an und präsentiert die unverwechselbare Ästhetik beider Gruppen, indem es eine gemeinsame Sprache aus zyklischen Motorik-Rhythmen, sich entwickelnden Drones, texturierten Soundeffekten, knurrenden Gitarren und growlenden Bass-Hooks aufbaut. Geschrieben und live aufgenommen in den legendären Proberäumen der President Piano Co. in Mongkok, Hongkong, spielten die Bands auf den Instrumenten und Verstärkern des Studios, die noch aus der Gründungszeit der President Piano Co. im Jahr 1978 stammen. Die Aufnahmetechnik des Studios ist ein einzigartiges System, das vom Eigentümer Lee King Yat entworfen und eingerichtet wurde und dem Album seinen unverwechselbaren Vintage-Sound verleiht, ohne dabei an beeindruckender Klarheit einzubüßen.

Cintura Interna is João Hã’s new release for Sucata Tapes, a work shaped by accident, drift, and unlikely connections. Its guiding notion comes from “Música Careca” (Bald Music) — a strange term apparently used by Jean Dubuffet to describe his own sound experiments. Dubuffet wasn’t a musician, but he was bald; the phrase lingers as an apt description for music that is naïve without innocence: amateur bruitism, soft sound, raw and direct, where intention is left exposed to errancy.
The piece itself came together without project or plan, eventually forming what Hã calls an “accidental Frankenstein” — or perhaps Frankenoise. Built from recordings made more than 15 years ago on cassette and obsolete equipment, mixed with more recent material, Cintura Interna bridges time and decay, refusing diaristic or documentary framing.
As an unexpected detour, the release also includes a version of the garage classic Louie Louie.

A killer double-sided 7-inch single from DubXanne, led by the talented Guido Craveiro, transforming classic 80s hits into dub masterpieces!

This release features dub covers of two iconic tracks: The Buggles' 1979 global smash hit "Video Killed the Radio Star" and Kate Bush's 1985 hit "Running Up That Hill", both given a reggae twist.

This single is cut from DubXanne's 2023 album Popwave In Dub, a project helmed by Portuguese producer Guido Craveiro. The A-side offers a dub rendition of The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star", a song that became a worldwide sensation in 1979 and inspired countless covers. The B-side features a dub version of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill", a track that saw a resurgence in popularity thanks to Stranger Things Season 4. These familiar tunes are reimagined with brilliant reggae arrangements that breathe new life into the originals!

Honey Badger Records is pleased to announce the release of its 19th EP, NOLOVE EP, marking the label debut of Seoul-based producer and DJ, Nolove.

Recognised as an active presence within Seoul’s underground dance club community, Nolove has steadily built a reputation for her distinctive style and energy on the floor. On NOLOVE EP, she presents four original tracks shaped by the current momentum of the club scene—where minimal, crystalline synths and tightly woven percussion come together to form a sound that is unmistakably her own.

Das Kunsthaus Bregenz freut sich, ,Wish You Were Gay" von Anne Imhof anzukündigen. ,Wish You Were Gay" ist eine sehr persönliche Ausstellung, die mehrere neue Werkgruppen präsentiert, die eine Reihe von Kernelementen reflektieren und weiterentwickeln, die seit Beginn an das Repertoire von Imhof geprägt haben. In der Ausstellung untersucht Imhof Vorstellungen von Endlichkeit, Realität und Künstlichkeit, Zufall und Schicksal, Abwesenheit und Anwesenheit vor dem Hintergrund einer postapokalyptischen Isolation. ,Wish You Were Gay" umfasst brandneue Skulpturen, Gemälde, Klangarbeiten und eine Serie von sechs bisher unveröffentlichten Videoarbeiten, in denen die Künstlerin auf frühes Material aus den Jahren 2001-03 zurückgreift, einer entscheidenden Übergangsphase im Leben und Werk der Künstlerin. Mit dem Aufkommen von handlichen digitalen Camcordern, bei denen der Bildschirm zum ersten Mal gedreht werden konnte und die Vorläufer der heute allgegenwärtigen Frontkameras sind, nutzte Imhof diese neue Technologie als Spiegelaufnahmegerät, vor dem sie Bewegungen und Gesten ausführte, um die Szene zu beleben und zu gestalten. Mit ihrem Körper als Medium, zusammen mit anderen provisorischen Mitteln wie geliehenen Gitarren und Verstärkern, und der Aufnahme von Liedern und ihrer Stimme als Mittel, diese zu finden, schuf sie Kunst mit ihrer Gemeinschaft Freunden, Liebhabern, Mitarbeitern - und nutzte dabei die Rohstoffe des Lebens, wie es sich gerade entfaltete. Diese Videoarbeiten vermitteln ein unterschwelliges Gefühl der Dringlichkeit, verkörpern Kraft durch Beharrlichkeit und Präsenz, die sich in kontinuierlichen Proben und Improvisationen manifestiert. In den folgenden zwei Jahrzehnten verwebte Imhof diese Elemente - durch unzählige Spiegelungen, Verdopplungen und Variationen der Motive aus dieser prägenden Zeit - zu einer tiefgründigenPraxis der Bewegung, die den Körper in den Mittelpunkt stellt. Light in the Attic freut sich, Nancy Sinatras gleichnamiges Album von 1969 zu veröffentlichen. Diese neue Ausgabe und erste Vinyl-Neuauflage überhaupt von "Nancy" feiert eine der am wenigsten bekannten Phasen der verehrten Künstlerin. Nach drei Jahren im Rampenlicht und an der Spitze der Popmusik war Nancy Sinatra plötzlich in einer unerwarteten, aber irgendwie vertrauten Situation - ähnlich wie Anfang 1965. Sie war wieder einmal ohne Produzenten, ohne neue Songs und kämpfte darum, bei ihrem Label zu bleiben. Lee Hazlewood war Nancys Produzent und Duettpartner gewesen und hatte viele ihrer Hits geschrieben. Nach einer unglaublichen dreijährigen Erfolgsserie zog Lee plötzlich ohne Abschied nach Schweden. Nancy war überrascht und verletzt, aber sie machte weiter und entwickelte sich weiter. Sie fand einen Produzenten in ihrem langjährigen Arrangeur Billy Strange und entdeckte einen jungen Songwriter (und zukünftigen Superstar) namens Mac Davis, der ihr helfen würde, ihren Sound neu zu definieren. Dieses Album mit dem einfachen Titel ,Nancy" steht allein in ihrer Diskografie, versteckt zwischen ihren ikonischen Alben aus den 1960er Jahren und ihren funkigeren Werken aus den 1970er Jahren. It is easy to see why he rapidly became involved in free jazz. Once he was settled in New York, he appeared on Sunny Murray Quintet, recorded under the leadership of the drum crazy colleague of Albert Ayler.



In 1968, the saxophonist and flutist recorded his first album under his own name: It’s Not Up To Us. The following year he came to Paris in the wake of… Sunny Murray. He would come back to France in 1971 (again with Murray) and in 1973 (without Murray for a change). This is when he met Jef Gilson, the pianist and producer who encouraged him to record under his own name again.

On Palm Records (Gilson’s label), he would release four albums: Us, Mother Africa, Exactement and Funny Funky Rib Crib.



A few months after recording “Us”, Lancaster recorded “Mother Africa” along with Clint Jackson III, a trumpeter, partner of Khan Jamal or Noah Howard on other recordings.

On march 8th, 1974, Lancaster and Jackson headed up a group composed of Jean-François Catoire (electric and double bass), Keno Speller (percussion) and Jonathan Dickinson (drums).


Together, they create an immediate impression. From the first seconds of “We The Blessed”, they develop a free jazz which rapidly abandons any virulence under the effect of blues and soul based interventions.

When Gilson’s composition “Mother Africa” begins, listeners are transported into the studio, listening to the musicians setting up: chatting and joking… Then comes the melody: a dozen or so notes of a repeated theme which is accelerated and deformed according to their whims… The jazz played by the association Byard Lancaster / Clint Jackson III is rare: creative AND recreational. “We the blessed”, is apt listening to this again today!

This CD edition contains a bonus track, the magnificent “Love Always” that was originally released on the fourth (and last) volume of the Jef Gilson Anthology series released in 1975.


Recorded on 8th March 1974, it is a beautiful 15-minute-long modal jazz piece. Four notes from the bass (the relentless Jean-François Catoire, who makes up the rhythm section alongside drummer Jonathan Dickinson and percussionist Keno Speller), and the group is up and running!

On piano, Gilson shows the subtle tact of a sideman, leaving the lions’ share of the place to the horns. This allows us to hear the trumpet of Clint Jackson III and the alto (which sometimes sounds almost flute-like) of Byard Lancaster each staking their claim in a long hallucinatory march which moves from moments of direct exaltation to profoundly sensitive collective playing.

On the album, the trio works from the John Coltrane model; free jazz shook up by the timely contributions of the bassist, followed by a mesmerizing atmospheric music. Then, Lancaster delivers a sinuous solo path, which is a reminder of his unique tone. On the album’s companion single, the trio launches into great black music of a different genre which would lead the clairvoyant François Tusques to claim that Byard Lancaster is an “authentic representative of soul/free jazz”, to sum up this is Great Black Music!

Swedish DJ, producer and songwriter Johan Blende debuts on Hell Yeah with a journey to the heart of a grown-up dancefloor in the Med.

Blende is a master of mixing up retro 70s and 80s sound into modern dancefloor delights. He's been doing it for two decades on a wide range of cultured labels from Studio Barnhus to Eskimo, always with a rare charm and leftfield perceptive. With this EP, he taps into the magic of hazy afternoons turning into euphoric evenings by the sea.

'Off To Mallorca' jangles with taught bass notes and sunburnt vocals. Distant synths glow, the jumbled percussion injects just the right dose of ass-wiggling funk and this playful yet sophisticated cut builds toward a blissful rapture. 'Television' ups the ante with prickly acid panning about the mix over sleazy, low-slung drums. Tension simmers as edgy synth motifs stalk the groove and anticipation builds before the whole thing explodes into a cosmic disco payoff. It's raw, unpredictable, and perfect for when things start to get a little weird.

'Como No Brasil' gazes skyward and basks in a wash of shimmering melodies and breezy, wordless vocals that drift like clouds over layered, sun-drenched rhythms. It’s a dreamy, tropical float until a surprise acid storm rolls in and moves things from tranquil paradise to dancefloor hypnosis. Finally, 'Carousel Bagatelle' is a layered, late-night trip that feels both playful and introspective. Hypnotic synths swirl around screwy acid lines and supple, dubbed-out house drums that spin you into a daze.

Blende’s debut on Hell Yeah lands like a postcard from a perfect party - sun-dazed, acid-kissed and endlessly replayable.

Bassist, composer and producer Shay Hazan returns with his third solo album, "When It Rains It Pours", on Batov Records. Following the critical success of "Reclusive Ritual" and "Wusul" Hazan takes a bold step forward, shifting from the guimbri-led sound that established his reputation to a broader palette of bass, guitar, and synth-driven compositions.

Combining Bach with traditional Gabonese music, Lambarena pays tribute to Albert Schweitzer, a doctor and musician who settled in Lambaréné in 1913. Cold Steel's patented brand of aggressive, hardcore thrash metal takes no prisoners on 'Discipline & Punish'. To bring the album to life, the group decamped to Philadelphia and teamed with producer Arthur Rizk (Blood Incantation, Power Trip, Cavalera). In the studio, they drew on influences like Metallica, Machine Head, and Slipknot while sharpening and solidifying their own signature sound.

Pianist and singer songwriter Tilda Gebhardt creates a curious and immersive world on her debut "Come the Afternoon", a tender portrait of her upbringing in the bleak yet beautiful north west English countryside.

Telling tales that take us back to a 1936 premier of Swing Time, or inside a telescope where a man named Ernest lives, via the vast plains of the Australian desert - Gebhardt's unusual combination of playfulness, storytelling and profound reflection is carried along by her crystalline voice, and acrobatic piano.

Inspired in turn by the magic of moving images and nature, "Come the Afternoon" is like a collection of miniature films, chronicling Tilda's adventures on the fells of the langdales, hiding in the heather on the Trough of Bowland, and exploring the fields and valleys that surround her home in Lancaster.
