DJ 3000 Redefines the Fusion of Detroit Techno and Albanian Identity on New EP Shotë
With over two decades of pushing boundaries, DJ 3000 returns with Shotë — a striking new EP that reaffirms his place at the crossroads of Detroit techno and global rhythm. Out soon on Motech Records, Shotë is a four-track, limited-edition release pressed onto 12” vinyl with vibrant jacket artwork that reflects both his cultural heritage and sonic evolution.
Named after a traditional Albanian folk dance, the title track Shotë anchors the record in deep, ancestral roots while remaining forward-facing, raw, and emotionally resonant. Shotë balances past, present, and future in equal measure.

Each track on the EP tells its own story:
• Shotë – a reimagining of a traditional Albanian rhythm, layered with tough grooves and hypnotic builds.

• Laya – built on hypnotic motion and rolling percussion, its haunting vocal textures hint at deeper rhythmic traditions.

• Lumni – from the Albanian word for “blessed,” it carries a spiritual weight wrapped in rhythm and resolve.

• Qilim – inspired by handwoven Albanian rugs, its detailed arrangement plays like sonic embroidery.

This EP is a continuation of DJ 3000’s mission: to merge deep roots with futuristic form. Shotë represents raw, focused techno that respects the past while refusing to stand still.

*Re-press of first-time 7″ release / limited 300 copies red vinyl / Shipping from 11 August* If you were part of a clubbing tribe in 1994 – any clubbing tribe – you will have danced to the Ballistic Brothers astounding ‘Blacker’. A track on a mysterious 12-inch that no-one could quite work out if it was a 12-inch single of a cheaply packaged album (it was in effect a 12 inch EP), but in the end it didn’t matter. It provided any DJ with a guaranteed dancefloor winner. A sly mix of beats and samples, it is nothing short of an anthem, and with the full cooperation of the group, we are making it available for the first time as a 7-inch single. The Ballistics – Ashley Beedle, Rocky, Diesel and David Hill – went on to record a further 12-inch EP and two full-length albums, making them one of the cult names of 1990s music. On the flip of this seven is one of their most popular cuts, what at the time was an LP-only track ‘Cubafro Con Amigos’, which has been specially edited for this release. Following the sellout of the first-time 7″ in 2023, we are excited to offer a repress. Limited to 300 copies and pressed on transparent red vinyl in a black disco bag!

The rediscovery of Terry Callier is of the high points of in the history of Acid Jazz Records, who present the reissue of the 7” version of the song that started it all - ‘I Don’t Want To See Myself (Without You)’. A true classic of the modern soul scene.

‘I Don’t Want To See Myself…’ was the final release from Callier, whose career encompassed recording for Prestige, Chess’s Cadet label and Elektra, before this one- off single on the independent Erect label.

Despite the record fetching huge sums by the 1990s, his career had been largely unexplored, until Acid Jazz founder Eddie Piller decided to track him down. After several attempts, Eddie finally found him working as a computer programmer, and in July 1990 Acid Jazz reissued the single.

Over the next decade Terry resumed his recording and performing career, releasing new music, and was finally recognised for his brilliance as an artist. In 2006 Eddie found himself once more in conversation with Terry and they agreed on releasing a 7-inch version of the single, with an edit created by Andy Lewis.

This single is long since deleted, and now sells for upwards of £30, so with the full co-operation of his daughter Sundiata and licensed from Terry Callier Music, it is set for reissue in March 2025, backed with ‘If I Could Make You’.

After a two-year hiatus from recording, the OC based band reconvened in 2023, returning to where it all started: drummer Lucas Ovalle"s garage. It was in this familiar environment that Ovalle, guitarist lead singer Josiah, guitarist Corbin Jacques,and bassist Seth Thomson learned how to be friends again and shared all the anxieties and revelations they"d endured on hiatus through crafting songs. Among the most important groups in hip-hop history, legendary Brownsville, Brooklyn duo M.O.P. has been the embodiment of hardcore rap for three decades.They’ve been signed to iconic labels like Roc-A-Fella and G-Unit, released one of the biggest rap singles ever in “Ante Up”, and did it all without compromising their sound or integrity. Back in 2014, Lil Fame and Billy Danze unleashed the acclaimed album Street Certified, executive produced by DJ Premier. Featuring appearances by Mobb Deep, Busta Rhymes, and Maino, the project is classic New York hip-hop, with the type of raw, unfiltered music fans have come to expect from the Mash Out Posse. After an initial white coloured pressing quickly sold out, Street Certified is now available on black vinyl for the first time ever, complete with redesigned artwork.

• Ralphi Rosario, one of house music’s original architects and a member of the legendary Hot Mix 5, brings his signature peak-hour intensity and timeless groove.
• Derrick Carter & Chris Nazuka, operating under their cult alias Red Nail, deliver a raw, stripped-back interpretation, dripping with analog grit and deep, jacking flavor.

This reissue isn’t just a nod to nostalgia—it’s a powerful reminder of house music’s roots and enduring spirit. Whether rediscovered or experienced for the first time, “Feel Love” stands tall as a classic slice of Chicago house, as relevant on today’s dancefloors as it was over 30 years ago.

LQ (label owner of Echo Chamber Sound/Run It Red) sent me a track he had done with Kloke called "2049" and as soon as I listened to it, I knew I had to have it for the label. It's the kind of tune where I hear it and it makes me wish that I was the one that had made it!

When I was considering producers best suited for remixing "2049", Equinox was the first that came to mind because I knew that he'd be able to build on the dark amen flavour of the original whilst taking it to a new place that still respects the vibe. They were up for it & so was he, so thankfully it all came together & here's the end result.

The maiden voyage for ANIMA's forthcoming label - ANIMA Records, debuts with a bang. Assembling a powerful group of artists including Arthur Robert, Glaskin, Red Rooms, and Temudo for its first release, the message is clear. This is not only a musical project, it's turning the page for the next phase of electronic music. Recorded as part of the same daydreaming puzzle as Unwishing Well, Still Clouds at Noon brings out the slowcore/sadcore elements that drift through The Reds, Pinks & Purples' melancholy catalog. Donaldson names '90s hometown San Francisco acts such as American Music Club and the more obscure Timco as pivotal to his guitar playing and development as a songwriter, both of which shine bright here. The slower tempo ballads on Still Clouds_ often culminate in heavy fuzz drenched codas and showcase the more abstract poetic side of Donaldson's lyricism. There's an inherent pop-sensibility always at work though, with ear-worm melodies appearing over intoxicating circular riffs. Formerly a Bandcamp only digital release, this white vinyl version is remastered and adds two unreleased tracks, one featuring Mark Monnone from Australian pop-legends The Lucksmiths on bass. A1. Onyeabor: a unique track full of vintage-sound synths, bright melodic lines, Moog-style arpeggios, and rhythms built on a CR78, layered with live drums, tambourines, and bass guitar. Disco funk samples and fx add texture, alongside heavy overdubbing. Inspired by early William Onyeabor aesthetics.

A2. Dark Horse: Dark Horse: an atmospheric arrangement of phase-y pads reminiscent of the peak Autonomic era, filtered through the abstract lens of artists like Actress or King Britt. The pacing and negative space give the tune a weighty but airy feel, punctuated by heavy toms and documentary-style foley. Soulfully cosmic.

B1. Loop Me: polyrhythmic arpeggios, swirling delays, unstable harmonic structure, and chromatic movement form a tense, shifting progression. Built around a single bell sample, the track is reshaped through layering, modulation, subtle changes in texture, and filtered transitions. A techno stepper.

B2. Geiger Scale: experiments with playful but controlled randomness, minimal structure and off-grid sequencing. The idea centres on a toy synth with loose notes and laidback groove formed of irregular, rhythmic patterns. Geiger Scale perfects restraint as the arrangement bubbles along with sparse melodies. Smokey and potent.
