Never one to rest, our pal The Revenge has been busy as always. His latest LP as 6th Borough Project Find Your Rhythm' recently dropped on Roar Groove, he created a beautifully delicate remix of Auntie Flo's Waiting for a (Woman)", had a change of scenery relocating from Scotland to Denmark and his collab EP with Dirt Crew, flush with Nachtbraker remixes was one of our biggest records of 2016! Amongst the action he's taken the time and a more in yer face' approach to write us his latest EP, a four-tracker of proper club tracks. Every Night' brims with raucous disco energy. The French Filter House' reminiscent gem's strings shimmer and funk horns hit heavy, a jam destined to wear holes in shoes. Grit' attends to the easy-going Disco grooves we love so much from The Revenge, plenty of shake and soul it's overflowing with good-mood energy. B-side opener Never Learn' gives us a glimpse of the darker end of The Revenge's spectrum. Subby toms rumble, tweaked out synths bleep and slide and delayed key stabs shift the party into smoke hazed, underground rave mode. The closing track Krokodille' brings that Bass n Electro gritty booming sound! The acidic lead wraps around sturdy drums. Straight forward with plenty of kick, what an ending to a high quality EP!

This 8 track acoustic guitar album is a big change for the experimental musician Maurizio Abate. After many years of psychedelic albums in which improvisation was combined with a creative recording process, he composed an entire album based on a more traditional method: acoustic guitar solo.
During winter 2014 he organized a series of italian screenings preview of the documentary ' In Search of Blind Joe Death: The Saga of John Fahey' and that occasion encouraged Maurizio to experience the guitar solo language.
After playing these compositions at live shows, Maurizio decided to record the tracks in an almost definitive way, nevertheless the live interpretation of the songs is always different and mutating.
He recorded alone in his house between Christmas 2014 and new year's day on a reel tape recorder, performing acoustic guitar and, in a couple of songs, electric guitar and harmonica. "Loneliness, Desire and Revenge" it's an intimate and confidential album, it evokes moods and emotions of the musician during the past 2 years.

Just before the end of the year Mute. finally returns on the mighty Symp.tom imprint after a very long absence. Luckily, all that lost time wasn't in vein as he delivers a stunning release in his own unique style.

Jeff Mills does the dance a favour with remastered and unreleased cuts of some all-time classic.

Mills presents a previously unreleased version of the savage “Suspense” from his Drama EP AX006, 1993, alongside the haunting synth pads and fizzing 909 hustle of “Gamma Player” from Millsart’s Humana AX012, 1995 on the A-side.

The flipside features a fresh cut of the bleeping, intrepid deep-space sound design of “Transformation B (Rotwang’s Revenge)” from his Metropolis soundtrack, and the hypnotic energy of “Hydra and Synergy,” as used in his Exhibitionist 2 (2015) mix.

From the mists of 1989 comes The Landlord with this monolithic slab of rave history - 'I Like It'. Instantly recognisable, those widely sampled piano stabs, that bassline.... it's all there. Produced by Canadian super-producer and Big Shot Records label owner Nick Fiorucci this much sought after rave anthem was highly prized and coveted by those in the know back in the day, no-one had any idea as to how huge the record would become as it soundtracked every dancefloor, warehouse, field and loft from '89 onwards, this is it, the real deal! Enter: The Maghreban. One of R&S Records contemporary artists and an unashamed Hardcore / Jungle / Breakbeat enthusiast, he seemed like the perfect remixer. Maghreban's mix is respective of the roots and the legacy of 'I Like It', referencing some of it's later sampled incarnations in a clever and knowing way, a true DJ tool that has been road-tested and checked in clubs across Europe and beyond, his epic 'Revenge Remix' shows a deep understanding of the history of these particular records and how they work on the dancefloor. The Sound of Now...mentioned in 'The Return of Jack Slade' by Derrick Morgan was the sound of 1969/1970 and that sound was the sound of Jamaican Reggae.The look at the time was the Skinhead fashion borrowed heavily from the Jamaican Rude Boy style.
The Skinhead movement started around 1968 and by the following year of 1969 became the style and fashion of many British teenagers.The uniform of the Skinheads consisted of boots,braces and jeans and the upbeat Reggae sound seemed to match the style perfectly.
Never before has a music matched a look more perfectly than that of the Skinhead/Rude Boy and Jamaican Reggae sound.

All the garage and 2-step workouts I made were inspired by hours and hours of listening to Horsepower Productions, Zed Bias, El-B, Darqwan... I studied them. This tune in particular inspired by Benny Ill himself. Ill Bent was never released, I always held back some exclusives for my sets. No one had it. Benny Ill remixed the track in fine style, both Straight up and with a Fat Larry spin. We were talking, Benny and I, and he mentioned he used to live in Brooklyn. So he submitted Is It Safe, a tune he made while living not far from where I live now in NYC, to conclude the EP. Heavy! German duo Avidus bring their spellbinding style to Crosstown this March. The pair have conceived a four track EP that serves to showcase their unique sound.

Avidus have produced a mesmerising EP that submerges the listener in an intriguing sonic soundscape. On title track XII prominent drums arise alongside dramatic strings that create a track full of suspense. Psalm 23 opens with an ethereal vocal sample that bleeds into a high-octane beat that's pacing and intense. On the flip, Lux is a dreamy and emotive number, calmer than its predecessors with a breathtaking breakdown, whilst last year's Revenge Of The Whales gets a rework for Crosstown.

Hailing from Kiel in North Germany Fritz Wagner and Marc Wolf, aka Avidus, have forged a strong partnership over the years. Fritz began producing music in the late 90s, making Hip Hop beats and pop music before moving on to house. During his early years, Marc produced backing tracks for hardcore bands before DJ'ing at illegal, outdoor raves. He started his own night ENDVR at Kiel's Luna Club, where he invited guest such as Âme, Roman Flügel, Barnt and Marcus Worgull. Their diverse musical tastes and influences are apparent in their music, which refuses to be confined to any one genre. The duo launched their own imprint Empore Music in 2014 that has charted releases from Johannes Albert amongst others.

The wondrous rarity that is Hipnotic 'Are You Lonely' gets the rework treatment form four masters of the re-edit, each with their own trademark sound.

First up to the operating table, Opolopo increases the tempo edging up to the 118-mark adding a characteristic juiced up bass synth that oozes smoothness and swapping the flute melodies with cosmic synth lines that sparkle in the darkness.

Greg Wilson & Che Wilson tackle edit duties next in classic Wilson style. Again, opting to move into peak-time tempo territory, they begin with a stripped back, spacey intro that sees elements added one by one from a bumping bass and panning pads to rough snares and crisp claps. It wouldn't be a Wilson edit without a double dose of tape delay, the duo dropping the vocals and synth lines expertly in and out for maximum dancefloor flavour.

Back down to the original pace on the B side, The Revenge offers up a slick, late-night redub treat. Only a handful of components are involved as he chops and changes the bass and synth lines to provide a mesmerizingly chuggy groove whilst dropping in choice vocal echoes that makes Hipnotic, even more hypnotic. Last up, Yam Who brings those strutting guitars further forward in the mix whilst adding some delicate piano touches that offer an elegant enhancement to the original.

Solomon Citron's debut, a non-existing cinematic movie soundtrack called; "Kampu-China".

On the 4th January,KingUnderground Records are releasing "Kampu-China" on a 6 track vinyl EP, streaming and download.

Solomon Citron was born in Rostov-on-Don in the south of Russia. He's a professional musician and talented multi-instrumentalist.

Paying homage to his childhood memories of 70s action movies, he decided to create a soundtrack for "Kampu-China" - a fabricated, fictional movie. Behind the closed door of his home studio in Russia, Solomon composed the soundtrack in just two weeks, using only his imagination and the make-believe storyline as his inspiration.


The film is set on an imaginary world, where the mythical country Kampu-China lies. Shootout scenes, kung-fu fighting, crime pursuits, betrayal and revenge make this movie a classical action movie of the 1970s.

The soundtrack was composed using 3 instruments; guitar, bass and drums which has captured the sound and atmosphere of that era of movies.

Solomon grew up listening to hard-core metal and punk rock, as he got older he delved into all sorts of indie music and these days is a big fan of "old school" hip hop which all helped influence "Kampu-China".

Loosewomen are core members of the Grade10 Record label, with vinyl releases, cassettes and remixes under their belts they have now arrived with a new two tracker.

This record has been described by piers as a updated early 90's UK house sound but they like to think of it as more just the music that comes out of the MPC when they sit down at it. Saying that the echoy vocals, loose breaks in the back ground and big kick can stick you in a northern wood out side on a summer evening pretty quickly, Unstable At The Stables also has a loopy synth line running through it and Jupiter's Revenge is a bit bleepy so maybe their right.
