■ In den frühen bis mittleren 60er Jahren war Gene McDaniels ein erfolgreicher Gesangstar. Er andete in den Charts mit den Singles "A Hundred Pounds of Clay", "Tower of Strength" und "Chip
Chip". McDaniels war jedoch ein nachdenklicherer und politisch bewussterer Mensch, als seine Hits vermuten lassen würden, und nach der Ermordung von Martin Luther King verließ er Amerika, um in
Europa zu leben und sich auf das Songwriting zu konzentrieren. Als er 1970 in die USA zurückkehrte, nannte er sich Eugene McDaniels the Left Rev. Mc D und seine Musik nahm eine scharfe Wendung in
eine neue Richtung.

over the years- their son, producer/ performer/ and engineer, Shooter Jennings, mixed the album.

Steve hat sich ursprünglich mit Escape Music zusammengetan, um den Leadgesang für das Boston-Tribute-Album (ESM 081) zu liefern, auf dem er 'Amanda', einen der Höhepunkte des Albums, sang. Steve arbeitete auch mit Steve Morris von "Heartland"-Ruhm zusammen, um vier "Shadowman"-Alben aufzunehmen, die alle in der Rockgemeinschaft hoch geschätzt werden. If ever a title was justified, then 'Queen of the Country Blues' is the bare minimum that should be afforded to Memphis Minnie, a lone female voice in the maledominated country blues scene whose musical legacy is nothing short of remarkable. Minnie transcended both gender and genre and her recording career spanned from the late 1920s heyday of country blues to the cutting-edge Chicago scene of the 1940s & 1950s, where she helped pioneer the roots of elctric blues, R&B and rock 'n' roll.

This collection highlights the formative years of Minnie's career as part of the duo and includes accomplished blues numbers such as 'Memphis Minnie-Jitis Blues', probably based on personal experience, as well as 'Bumble Bee' their first recorded song and one of Minnie's most successful of her hundred or so songs that she recorded before retiring in the mid-1950s.

Speaking about her new concert album, Lyytinen said: "When playing live, you've got one moment to get it right, and then the moment is gone. There is no correcting stuff later, so it is very raw and exciting to play and sing at the same time. The adrenaline runs through your body, and everything around you affects your performance."

The release marks Erja Lyytinen's fourth live album, and follows on from Songs from the Road, Live in London and Lockdown Live. The album is the first concert release from the gifted guitarist to capture the post- Covid live experience.
