After the last press by Swoy, we're happy to scream that we've reached the 8th level with a massive release by the Italian crew Unknown Collective made by the mind of Fulvio Ruffert.


Fresh from a lot of vinyl release this year and here we can feel their capacity and flexibility in the studio. First track "Func" is a minimal - deep house influenced track with a cool bassline fit for heating the dancefloor. After the original version we have the remix from the famous French duo: Politics Of Dancing. They put their proper touch into the track by giving a rough sign to the bassline. On the B-side we find another original track; "Zolfo" is a Chicago-House-Acid track that remember us the sound of the big Brian Harden. The last but not the least is the collaboration with mister Earlydub: Loquace. This one is a massive and fresh work bringing you inside a tunnel without any escapes.

Hailing from the heartland of British techno, Sheffield’s John Shima is one of the leading lights of UK electronics. His beautifully crafted sounds have graced a host of imprints including Distant Worlds, Exalt Records and, of course, FireScope. It is to the latter that Shima returns with his long awaiting debut album, The Lonely Machine.

John Shima is a master melody weaver, with this first LP attesting to his deftness of touch. Celestial chords and star gazing synthwork permeate this ten track odyssey. The musical heritage of Shima’s hometown, the elegance, majesty and subtlety of British electronics, is invoked from the needle drop. A range of influences come to the fore in this 2LP. Skirting around the edges of astral ambience and tonal texture are nods to industrial history, the rasp and resonance of rhythms in “Empires”, with the inspiration of Detroit surfacing in the future funk of “Phase Distortion” and “Linear.” Dreamscapes are painted in delicate hues, the fragile movements of “Accepting”, with brooding works adopting thicker basslines and ruffled notes as with “Distrust.” Nevertheless, it is the incandescent brightness of Lonely Machine that truly shines. Radiant pieces of elating electronics, complex and joyful compositions that chime with unbridled hope and open-hearted optimism.

Always one to explore, Shipwrec have set sail and discovered a new isle of musical experimentation. Phainomena is a terrain for ambient introspection, dream-filled drone and stunning soundscapes. An old friend returns to the fold to inaugurate this venture, Julian Edwardes. Seven works of abstract immersion coalesce to create "Consonance." The Dutch artist journeys into far-flung realms and worlds, sweet silken synthlines and juddering noise being his transportation tools of choice. Off-centre echo and muted delay swirl in these audio planets. Mountains, oceans, unending skies are conjured as notes bulge, expand and disperse. Wildlife buzzes, chirps and trills in this land of sonic undulations, plants are given musical form with modulated ruffles as bleeps of cloud scud across an expanse of frequencies. An album of brilliant brightness, shifting shapes and unearthed undercurrents where expression is as ephemeral as it is eternal, a sentiment captured in Rob van Hoesel's sublime cover work.

Idiosyncratic producer DMX Krew offers up four playful acid-tinged tracks for the Malekko Phase Mod EP, released through eclectic Spanish label/club night/promotion agency, Fanzine Records. The vinyl-only release is the first output of 2019 for the Coruna based imprint currently celebrating their 10th anniversary and is the follow up to C44's bizarro-techno Res Publica Populi Romani EP, and Dijuma's dubby and atmospheric Cold Tracks EP.

For DMX Krew's first Fanzine release the eccentric producer adopts a much lighter and brighter sound, in line with his recent records on Hypercolour and his classic output on Aphex Twin's Rephlex Records. The EP also comes hot on the heels of the prolific producer's latest album, Glad To Be Sad - twelve wavey cuts of vigorous electronic funk released in March through Hypercolour.

Kicking off the A-side with "Maleko Phase Mod", DMX Krew immediately conjures an effortlessly enjoyable mood. From the opening bars, a bouncing synth line is met with a classic acid house beat - prominently featuring the requisite skipping snares, rustic rimshots and phasing percussion that gives this track its distinctly Chicago feel. Meanwhile, shimmering chords fill the track with sunny warmth and enthusiastic energy.

Next up, "Smoke Stack" matches a groovy acid bassline with vintage drums, clusters of claps and a mischievous marimba-esque lead. Don't let the whimsy fool you, however, DMX Krew is a master craftsman at sequencing intricate synth lines and programming complex drum patterns.

On the flip, "Low Star" imbues DMX Krew's familiar elements bubbling bass, sparkling synths, and a pumping groove with a twisted 80s lo-fi essence. Crunchy claps, distorted hats, and tumbling toms keep the track bouncing at a frenetic pace, while a glossy lead contrasts with solemn pads to create a mood at once exuberant and earnest.

Closing track "Suspicion Ruff Mix" once again finds the producer riding a classic jacking 80s house beat, filling any gaps in the groove with crashing cymbals, rolling snares, and cascading claps. With his squelchy bass, vibrant lead, and oddball melody, DMX Krew concludes the Malekko Phase Mod EP with a sense of effervescent joy undeniably his own.

We are please to announce our second release with Freddie Lager aka Red Astaire, Sweden’s Hip Hop DJ/Producer extraordinaire! 90’s Baby features Olivia Ruff, originally from Hawaii and now based in the Bay area. The track is a tribute to some of that 90’s tunes that Olivia grew up on and features her smooth vocals bumping along nicely to Red’s dope beats. Limited edition of 500 – don’t sleep!

iggatunez debuts on Times are Ruff and splits a 12inch with the label owners. Both share a Berlin connection through their studios located in the same building, something unknown at the time the first contact was made. Unsurprisingly that became the theme for this joint effort of music. Both sides contain serious dancefloor intended tracks, in signature style of the label, where beats and groove take the lead, but keeping the soul.

Mark Is Releasing A New Ep Called Integriert Euch Nicht. It Features Two Tracks Taken From His Berghain Debut And A Freshly-composed Drum & Bass Missile. 'fucking Sick Of Myself Since Day One (hot Desk Mix)' And 'hats Off To Herr. F' Were First Performed At Mark's 2018 Berghain Live Set During Ostgut Ton Nacht. The Former Is A Breakcore-adjacent Call To Arms For The Self-loathing, The Latter An Antarctic Shiver Of Predator- Mode Idm-illektro. 'integriert Euch Nicht (commercial Jump Up Mix)' Features Singing From Blackest Ever Black Alum Silvia Kastel. Mark Wrote The Vocal Parts With Sine Waves Before Kastel Recorded Each Tone Individually, Creating Microtonal Clusters In The Vein Of Luigi Nono. The Sax-like Sounds Are Wilted Woman Playing The Aerophone, An Electronic Woodwind Instrument. Otherwise, It's Mark's Most Deliberately Straight Ahead Drum & Bass Track To Date, Trading The Beat Science Of Former Releases For A Stubbornly Boneheaded Approach In Line With The Title's Message. Integriert Euch Nicht Is Something Of A Spiritual Successor To Last Year's Tech/gentrification/real- Estate-investment Themed Integrier Dich Du Yuppie And A Ruffer, More Floor-focussed Elaboration Of The Techniques Tested On His Unterton Debut The Least Likely Event Will Occur In The Long Run. Cement returns with its second story - this time delving deeper into the dub techno abyss on the A-side with Montreal veteran Mateo Murphy's banger "Black River". It has peak hour written all over it with its full-on sound and tantilising dub atmosphere; a dark flowing bassline builds into a droney crescendo. Next Sonitus Eco of Silent Season, his label HAAV and the crucial Verdant delivers a coup de grace of dub techno. Stripped back with an effective 808 pattern, his tenacity with pads and atmospheric space echo gives "Ruffcut" its character and leaves you wanting more.
On the flip side, the elusive CMNT returns for another arpeggio-laden journey. With a constant kick and airy hats pattern, occasional stabs, melodic notes and some random human voices give texture to "White Heat".
Finally, label founder Caspian Rabone's electro moniker Fourmatic, drops a spacey electro workout "Ectosketch". Playing with tonal rhythms, the track unveils awkward synth hooks and metallic strings to keep things edgey.

It took a while before it was this. It was a place to find clothes made by people lost in a minefield of ideas who liked to party. It was a place for temporary visions that turned out to happen and were then forgotten. It was always a place to find a new circle of friends. A place for expression where the throttle had been loosened and we all careered into the next day and the day after that. We all need to meet in the flesh away from the pixels and connect our first thoughts. Somewhere to ruffle our own feathers and take off on a phantom flight. It has been all this and it still is. Only now there is a record label to try and actually document a little of all of that. Welcome to Sameheads.

Six acts whose sweat is in the carpet and who all owe more than seven euros to the place for one reason or another. Six songs that electrify a new way to no wave. Alter follow on from the bilingual dark ambient theatricals of Liberez with this four track EP from veteran Hamburg producer Christoph De Babalon.

As an affiliate of Digital Hardcore, Fat Cat and the recently founded V I S, CDB has tirelessly explored the intersections of breakcore, illbient and drum and bass. His work is at once uncompromising yet stylish - broken, punishing rhythms collide with dreary, doom-laden melodies and those eerie in-between spaces of vintage Unit Moebius or Deutsch Nepal. With Hectic Shakes he delivers a meditation on the 'inner abyss', the sort of abyss that lulls the listener into his sound world with next to no resistance.

'Shakes and Shivers' fixates itself on deceptively playful grooves with eerie, nightbus-to-nowhere atmospherics whilst opening cut 'Harakiri' manages to distort familiar jungle tropes into something even die hard devotees of the sound will find fresh. The EP closes with what we can only describe as a homage to 90s ambient techno in a ruff, post-hardcore fashion. Skittering drums weave in and out of longing, futurist synth lines and enough breakdowns to satisfy the dance floor.

Dublin's Pear label return with the new EP Soma from Donabate legend Bryan Mooney (aka DJ
Moonbeam) under his New Members alias. 3 spaced out & illimitable club cuts make up this
latest dancefloor offering on the 6th release from the year-old imprint.

The title track has been a sought after, certified Pear party anthem; timeless dancefloor alchemy
rolled into 9 minutes of dub tech(no) club magic. Yep, 'tis a big one.

B Side swerves left and then some. Good Morning drifts along effortlessly, buoyant with minimal
garage swing and touched ever so slightly by late 90's french deep house-isms (surely destined
to soundtrack many sunrise sets for the next while). Eclipse then consummates this extended
affair with a nod to the hardcore continuum through a ruff'n'rugged jungle number, dashed with
Mooney's signature dreamscapes.
