Philipp Gorbachev presents his latest 5-track EP "Nichego Ne Ponyal" on System 108. Philipp Gorbachev is amongst Moscow's most renowned dance music artists. The musician, DJ, and live performer is also known as the resident of MUTABOR, a member of ARMA17 and the System 108 community. His previous releases on Comeme, Trip, ARMA, and his own PG TUNE label contribute to a big variety of music genres: full live bands, church bell music, and techno. The new EP, which translates to 'I understood nothing' is an ode to isolation, where one's personal state of solitude simultaneously clashed with a global pandemic lockdown. The record was produced in the process of a fleeting stream of thought, and rather than relying on the use of automatization and the digital, it consists of recorded instruments. Drum machines, live drums, drum pads, keyboards, accompanied by bewildering vocals - all create an enticing audio tale that embodies the ethereal state of today's existence. Whilst being confined in the new secluded and virtual reality of the world, the artwork was devised via Facetime by photographer Nick Gavrilov, and just like the EP, it depicts the act of creation as such; Gorbachev's kitchen transformed into a temporary art studio where the interchange of imagination roamed free. The 'Nichego Ne Ponyal' EP is a result of Philipp Gorbachev's collaboration with System 108 and is the 3rd vinyl release of the creative platform, which is recognized for delivering outstanding events in Moscow's electronic music scene.

Als Musiker reichte ihm ein einziges Album – The Golden Age –, um damit ein deutliches klangliches und visuelles Zeichen zu setzen und neben unglaublich viel Kritikerlob auch unzählige Fans für sein Projekt zu gewinnen. Und jetzt, nach einer gut fünfjährigen Reife-, Konzentrations- und Experimentierphase, geht er noch mit seinem neuen Album S16 einen Schritt weiter. If you do not know the basics, you cannot do the math - Belgian underground DJ mainstay Red D is starting Red Basics as a means to provide an outlet for his solo work. Forever inspired by a wealth of music from around the world the city of Detroit is where he always ends up and that is exactly the inspiration you will hear on this maiden release of the series. ‘Red Basics 1’ is a deep percussive house excursion with hints of Patrice Scott and Marcellus Pittman and ‘Red Basics 2’ moves into Robert Hood-styled gospel techno territory. Detroit love is where it’s at!

Minimal, elegant and supercharged with latent energy, Cop Envy & DJ Plead’s ‘Hinged’ EP consists of 3 tracks written over the course of two Melbourne summer nights. Luscious drums, sparse melodic elements and midnight-hued atmospheric flourishes are masterfully sequenced for maximum DJ enthrallment and dancefloor enjoyment. The release exudes depth and a natural balance of both artists’ respective styles that belies their long-standing friendship :) :) :) Rounding off a year that saw well-received solo EPs from both Cop Envy and DJ Plead (on Hypercolour and Nervous Horizon, respectively), their collaborative debut ‘Hinged’ will be released digitally and as a limited hand-stamped 12” vinyl on Friday 8 November.

With "Steamy!" Jukka Eskola Soul Trio reaches its second album on Timmion and delivers another sure-shot for the soul jazz thirsty masses. As with his first self titled debut, this troupe of premium Finnish jazzers turns all the relevant corner stones of soulful and progressive jazz, never running too far up the deep end, but always harnessed with expressive sensitivity and professional cool. It's like the 1960's and 1970's global jazz movement got condensed into a radiant ball of hipness, heady and completely unpretentious.

In addition to the two single releases "Tiny B" and "Stick Of A Branch" Soul Trio dip their groove jazz chops into numbers such as "Five On Three", the shuffling "Jongo Street" and the fatback funky "Steamy". There's also a strong strain of Brazil on several tracks from bossa nova to richly percussive rhythms. On the over 7 minute long "Smash" they mellow out into a beautiful mood that sounds like John Patton swinging with a bunch of European cats. There's even a few studio tricks that we'll leave for the listener to discover.

Calling the Soul Trio a group of virtuosic players is an understatement as all of them have been working at it on a professional level since the 1990's. Trumpetist Eskola and drummer Teppo Mäkynen were both a part of the Helsinki nu jazz movement of the time, which later evolved into the now iconic Five Corners Quintet, while organist Mikko Helevä has hammered his Hammond in underground Finnish jazz funk groups for as long as his two band mates. Together they cook up a stew, which is like a bowl of perfect bouillabaisse, rich with flavour and with nice bits to chew on.

This classic DANNY STYLES track was originally released on LUCKY SPIN RECORDINGS and the masters have long been lost. Danny has managed to find the original disks and has painstakingly recreated the original using those old AKAI S1000 & ATARI disks with a borrowed ATARI 1040STE and AKAI S1100 (Thank to Peter Argyle for this!). There was also a previously unreleased mix of LIFE IS A ROLL on the disks which has also been brought back to life and can now be heard for the first time in 25 years.

Rivertones - the recorded music of Caught by the River - have repressed their classic 2012 Dylan Thomas-in-dub 7" Under Dubwood by the Dubwood Allstars.

Although Under Dubwood might seem an incongruous mix - the words of Dylan Thomas, the voice of Richard Burton and the studio sounds of King Tubby - the resulting single actually makes perfect sense - a gloriously woozy psychedelic skank that places Llareggub somewhere just outside downtown Kingston, JA. Since its release five years ago, Under Dubwood has been a staple on BBC6 Music and was used as soundbed music for the BBC's coverage of Dylan Thomas' centenary in 2014. It remains hugely in demand from the Caught by the River shop and has been sold out for the last eighteen months. The identity of the Dubwood Allstars remains a mystery to all at Rivertones.

On the B-side of the Under Dubwood 7" is River Theme by the Time and Space Machine (aka acid house stalwart Richard Norris of the Grid and Beyond the Wizard's Sleeve). River Theme is a hypnotic, fuzzed-up garage groove that's equal parts Dirty Water Club and Trash.

Coming out strong to whip us all into shape we've unleashed Isabella and she'll leave you "Spun Out". Isabella has done tracks for Jacktone, Embalming Lately, Borft, S1, Peder Mannerfelt Produktions. She uses hardware, live, to produce unhinged techno. Now she has done one for Schmer, which had already lost its hinges decades before.

Since 2015, Ciel's monthly radio show "Work In Progress" in Montreal has been highlighting the best and weirdest in underground electronic music produced by women. She has released tracks on Junted (Marshall Applewhite's new imprint), the benefit compilation Power Puerto Rico, and a three- track EP on Peach Discs which landed on numerous year-end lists from Fact Magazine, Mixmag, and Resident Advisor. She provides Schmer with the pristine sounds of "Bad Luck Comes in 3s".

Hiroko Yamamura is the Classic Chicago ride or die style DJ/producer influenced by The Warehouse, technology, and straight up techno, its no wonder she has been named one of Chicago's top 10 DJs by XLR8R magazine. Finally Schmer stops messing around with the Chicago sound and puts the real thing out with Hiroko's "Babyayez" track.

Experimental Housewife is Evelyn Malinowski, a longstanding DJ and maker of music.(Run The Length Of Your Wildness / Jacktone Records / Perfect Location / Juxtatextureall) Now based in San Francisco, she partakes in multiple open collaborations, like the one with the highly skilled DJ and producer Andrew Bowen aka Bilaga´ana. "Free Ends" was created, a track with grit yet full of innocent meandering. Its the cherry on top of our Schmerlicious cake.

Gilles Peterson says: "If a Cuban record had come out on Sleeping Bag Records in 1982, I think it would've sounded a bit like this. It's an eccentric middle ground between Latin-styled pop and disco".

Reissued from the Spanish version of this awesome Cuban records with a unique picture cover. Probably one of the best 70's Areito releases, for sure ahead of his times. The entire record minus two tracks of 10 total are all upbeat with afro-latin breaks, dope choral vocal arrangements and chunky bass and conga lines, but don t sleep, the lower bpm songs are great mellow gems. Hi5 is the latest prank from A Different Jimi, aka Jimi Siebels. It's is a bitchy chicago house smasher in a surprisingly refreshing kinship to New York's hard bop of the 1960s, without ever being in danger of becoming acid jazz. Because in order to create his own definition of jazz-infected-house, Jimi makes no use of already overstrained rare groove samples, but a classic range of instruments and musical friends who he invites to recording sessions in his studio. So we hear RVDS (It's / smallville) at the piano, Hayo Doin (Die Boys / Deichkind) on drums and last but not least DJ Björnski (dérive) on guitar. And yet everything comes together to be pushing electronic music. Hi5 is like the joy of a child over a bucket of water on a hot summer day. And after the refreshment the B side reveals a deep disco pearl in brilliance, plain beauty and a warm, vespertine elegance, that has been created due to the cooperation between a different Jimi and Björnski, the dérive label tycoon himself. 'Hi 5 & Sweet Fancy Moses' is a vinyl-become-south-sea-island in an ocean of tears of joy.
