Psych Pop & Folk in Venezuela, 1968-1976" features infectious Latin rock rhythms and timeless folk melodies across 15 ultra-rare tracks-most of which have never been reissued until now. The golden age of Caracas pop started in 1965. It replaced the wave of cloyingly romantic song writing as fresh talents leant into richer and more complex styles: folk-rock, psychedelia, soul, hard blues, symphonic pop, Latin rock etc. Singer-songwriters, experimental electric guitars and jam sessions all appeared on the scene, creating music that became increasingly refined and free. The industry took a while to catch on to this new trend and leave behind the teen idols and dream lifestyles. By the late 60s, there was a long list of new bands in the capital city. Young people finally found their voice. Let's set off together to discover the magic of Caracas in the late '60s!

In the spring of 2020, Ben Cook _ a.k.a. Young Governor, Young Guv, or just Guv _ was holed up in the New Mexico high desert, his U.S. tour having been abruptly covid-cancelled during a southwest swing. He and his bandmates were living moment to moment in something called an Earthship, a solar-rigged adobe structure sustainably constructed with, among other things, recycled bottles and tires. And out there in the serene vastness, as a short ride-it-out stint turned into a nine-month sojourn, Ben was writing music, slowly, little by little, mostly at night while the others slept. By the New Year, almost in spite of himself, he had created a new album, two new albums actually, and through the ordeal he was forever changed. In a place he never expected to be, under circumstances no one could have predicted, and in the face of physical isolation, emotional desolation, and existential dread, Ben created GUV III & IV, a collection of songs dedicated and testifying to the eternal healing power of love _ how to find it in the world, in others, and most importantly, in himself.

Kasse Mady Diabate, a key figure in Malian music, left his mark on history with his gentle yet powerful voice, earning him the nickname "the golden voice of Mali". A respected Mandingo artist, he was known for his ability to touch souls with melodies and texts steeped in depth and tradition. As a griot, he carried the musical heritage of his people with dignity and talent. The album title song, Toumaro (A bientôt), written by his daughter Hawa Kasse Mady Diabate, is part of this heritage, celebrating love and gratitude. After Kasse Mady"s sudden death in 2018, Hawa continued the album her father had started, offering a poignant tribute to his legacy and a beautiful way to connect with him spiritually through music. Hawa herself is an iconic figure on the Malian music scene, particularly as a member of Trio Da Kali, the griot "super-group" whose album Ladilikan with the Kronos Quartet was a true masterpiece. Toumaro is a testament to the richness of the griot tradition, carried on by artists such as Hawa as well as Lassana Diabate and Madou Kouyate. Their collaboration on Toumaro with renowned musicians underlines the importance of passing on cultural and musical values, while renewing the genre through contemporary arrangements.

Born as Diana Reches, Diane Denoir made her debut as a singer in 1966, backed by Eduardo Mateo on guitar. Influenced by Françoise Hardy and Astrud Gilberto, along with her own unique style, she performed a special blend of chanson française, bossa nova (sung in Portuguese, English, and French), and jazz. By then, Mateo was already a well-known guitarist in the Uruguayan music scene and a sought-after arranger. He was also beginning to establish himself as an incredible songwriter, connecting different musical universes in unique ways. The two formed a fruitful artistic partnership that lasted until the early seventies. This album, originally released in 1998 on CD, is a compilation of various unreleased recordings from different sources (concerts, radio and TV recordings, homemade tapes) made between 1966 and 1968. It is a unique document that showcases their incredible musicianship and creativity in their early years. The duo swings from bossa nova classics like "The Girl from Ipanema" to the rhythm and blues of "Fever," including chanson française standards like "Le lendemain" and "La Dernière Valse." The album also features earlier versions of the three best-known Mateo songs performed by Diane: "Y hoy te vi," "Esa tristeza," and "Mejor me voy," all of which were inspired by Diane. Inéditas unveils a new dimension of South American music from an unforgettable era.

Established in 2022, Warm Exit is a post-punk quartet hailing from Brussels, Belgium. The "Oganesson Remixes EP" follows the 2025 release of "Oganesson", which was the first new song released by Tortoise since 2016. The EP includes the original version of "Oganesson" alongside five new remixes of the track created by collaborators and friends of the band, including poet and activist Saul Williams, prolific mastering engineer Heba Kadry, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, indie music icons Broken Social Scene, and International Anthem labelmate Makaya McCraven. The "Oganesson Remixes EP" is released ahead of a new album by Tortoise, which will be released in fall 2025 via International Anthem.

After the dissolution of his band, The Cardinals, in 2009 and some much-needed R&R, Ryan Adams returned in style in 2011 with his 13th studio album. Ashes & Fire, produced by Glyn Johns and preceded by one of Adams’ most popular singles, ‘Lucky Now’, entered the UK chart at number nine (his best showing) and in the US at number seven. It features significant contributions from Norah Jones (piano and backing vocals) and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty ‘s Heartbreakers (keyboards) and is widely regarded as one of the artist’s best and most consistent efforts. Indeed, here in the UK BBC Music described it as, "an album that delivers more and more with every listen,” while NME called it, “an album worth celebrating now”; an assessment that still applies 14 years on.

Nach der limitierten EP "The Grand Designer" im Juni 2025, präsentiert Adrian Sherwood nun mit "The Collapse Of Everything" sein brandneues Werk, gleichzeitig sein erstes Soloalbum seit 13 Jahren und das vierte seiner langen Karriere. Auf diesem sorgfältig konzipierten Album lotet der Meisterproduzent und Mixologe mit seinem stets experimentierfreudigen Sound neue Grenzen aus. It also includes a 16-page booklet and sleevenotes from Victor Krummenacher. The LP is being reissued on dark green vinyl, with an alternative dark green cover to match. Featuring the cult classic "Take the Skinheads Bowling", the album showcases Camper Van Beethoven"s unique blend of folk, punk, ska, and absurdist wit. Beloved for its playful, offbeat charm and eclectic instrumentation, "Telephone Free Landslide Victory" cemented the band"s status as pioneers of alternative music.

Nach dem frühen Tod von Adam Schlesinger durch COVID-19 im Jahr 2020 dachte das IVY-Trio nie, dass es ein weiteres Album geben würde. Aber die Band hatte einen großen Fundus an unfertigen Songs und Demos in einem Lagerraum in Rhode Island aufbewahrt, der bis zu den Anfängen der Band zurückreicht. Obwohl sie sich nie wohl fühlen würden ein Album unter dem Namen IVY ohne Adam zu veröffentlichen, wurde ihnen klar, dass sie das nicht mussten. Adam hatte seine Parts bereits geschrieben und aufgenommen - er ist auf jedem Song zu hören. Das Trio holte sich auch Freunde ins Studio, die über die Jahre an Ivys Platten mitgewirkt hatten, um diese Songs zum Leben zu erwecken. "Traces of You" enthält alles, was wir an Ivy lieben und immer geliebt haben. Könnte da noch mehr kommen? (Ja, das könnte es.)

Johnny Davis and Reggie Hudson were American songwriters stationed at a G.I. base in Germany when they composed "Expand Your Mind”, a
song they originally wrote for Marvin Gaye but decided to put out on their own. Davis and Hudson stayed on in Germany where their music
careers flourished.

Johnny Davis, who handled the lead vocals, became one of the real voices of Milli Vanilli years later. Recorded in 1985, featured here is the original 12" version of "Expand Your Mind" including the original instrumental version.

Recently I was approached by my old friend Travis Millard to make some original music for Freedom Finger - a crazy space-shooter video game he had been developing with Jim Dirschberger and Wide Right Interactive game studio. I was able to land 6 instrumentals that pop up at various points throughout the gameplay.As the game was being rolled out, the idea arose to have me do 3 more tracks - this time fully fleshed out songs with lyrics mostly inspired by Freedom Finger's gameplay. These tracks would accompany some brand new levels that would be made available as downloadable content for the game.We have decided to release all of the music I have done for Freedom Finger as a 10" vinyl EP available through Rhymesayers Entertainment. This includes the 3 full length vocal tracks, as well as the 6 shorter beats that loop throughout the game. Some of these tracks also feature additional instrumentation from my friends and frequent collaborators, Grimace Federation.Furthermore, Jim has directed a video for the song Drums on the Wheel - featuring Freedom Finger gameplay, and some brand new visuals drawn by Travis and animated by Steven Gong.The game is an absolute blast, and I hope you enjoy this music. Dann wurde ihm klar, dass sie das vielleicht gar nicht sein müssen. "Diesmal konnte man alles verwenden, wenn es gut klang und man es richtig machte", sagt er. Die erste Single und der Titeltrack von "Cutthroat" greifen diese Idee auf und machen daraus den vielleicht besten Song, den shame je auf Band gebracht haben. Es ist ein Knäuel kaum zu bändigender Attitüde, verpackt in drei Minuten Indie-Dancefloor-Hedonismus. Er führt auch meisterhaft in die lyrische Perspektive des Albums ein: eine, in der selbstsichere Arroganz und tiefe Unsicherheit zwei Seiten der gleichen Medaille sind. "Ich habe viele Stücke von Oscar Wilde gelesen, in denen sich alles um Paradoxe dreht", erklärt Steen. "In 'Cutthroat' geht es um diese ganze Idee aus 'Lady Windermere's Fan': 'Das Leben ist viel zu wichtig, um ernst genommen zu werden'." Auch diese freche Selbsterkenntnis ist wichtig. So sehr shame die Seifenblasen des Getöses und des Egos zerplatzen lassen wollen und uns ermutigen, in den Spiegel zu schauen und uns zu fragen: "Wer den ersten Stein wirft...", so sehr verstehen sie auch, dass das Leben im Grunde genommen oft lächerlich ist. Das Ergebnis ist ein Album, das in den Idiosynkrasien des Lebens schwelgt, eine Augenbraue hochzieht und die unangenehmen Fragen stellt, die so oft taktvoll übergangen werden. Aber die einzige Antwort, die "Cutthroat" mit durchschlagendem Erfolg gibt, ist, dass shame im Moment nie besser klangen.
