'A Necessary Escape' ist der Soundtrack zum demnächst erscheinenden Film 'Dakar: Race Against The Desert'. Die physischen Formate umfassen CD, Vinyl und eine limitierte Farbvinyl-Edition in Curacao-Blau. Es ist der vierte Album-Soundtrack von M83 und wurde in Frankreich und den USA von M83s Anthony Gonzalez zusammen mit den regelmäßigen M83-Mitwirkenden Joe Berry und Clement Libes aufgenommen. Der Film erscheint am 12. Mai digital bei Universal Pictures und feiert seine weltweite Kinopremiere am 26. Juni in der MK2 Bibliothèque in Paris. Unter der Regie des französischen Schauspielers und Regisseurs Jalil Lespert wird hier die weltberühmte Rallye Dakar begleitet - ein Event, das seit 45 Jahren die ultimative Bewährungsprobe für Belastbarkeit, Können und Ausdauer im Motorsport darstellt. Das 9.000 Kilometer lange Rennen dauert 14 strapaziöse Tage durch raues Wüstengelände. Mit beispiellosem Zugang taucht dieser Film in das härteste Autorennen der Welt ein. Begleitet wird dies von einem wunderbaren Score den Gonzalez perfekt auf den Film zugeschnitten hat. Ambient trifft auf sphärische Klangcollagen und ist damit der perfekte Ausgleich zu den im Film dokumentierten Strapazen um die berühmte Rallye. Milky Clear Vinyl. Helen Marnie, Mira Aroyo, Daniel Hunt and Reuben Wu - formed in 1999 and sparked an entire movement in music pop culture powered by vintage synths and electro-rock engines. Originally released in 2001 by Emperor Norton Records in the US and Invicta Hi-Fi in the UK, ''604'' is the debut album from the Liverpool formed electronic outfit Ladytron. Named after the area code for British Columbia, the album features break-out tracks 'He Took Her to a Movie' (inspired by Kraftwerk's very own 'The Model'), 'Playgirl' and 'Discotraxx'.

Brera Groove returns with its second vinyl release, Brera Groove 002, a various artists collection blending late ’70s disco with the early shimmer of Italodisco. Brera Groove, curated by Tamati and inspired by the artistic soul of Milan’s Brera district, expands here with contributions from Luksek & Lucio Balla, The Rejected, and Lillo Carillo, each bringing their own twist to the sound. Grooves, rhythms, and sparkling synths drive an EP made for the dancefloors, echoing the elegance of clubs, cocktail bars, and the neon charm of 'Milano da Bere'.

Electrodynamique is back with five tracks that fuse past and future into a single, electric pulse. Born in his early years and rediscovered with care, these songs are raw, vivid time machines — bursting with wonder, heart, and unrelenting rhythm.

On the latest instalment of his VALA series, Finnish techno explorer Kaspiann tunnels into heads-down, mind-warping rhythm tracks of the highest order. Alongside his appearance on respected platforms such as Delsin Mantis and Optic Portal (alongside Spekki Webu), VALA affords Kaspiann the space to explore the depth and breadth of his sound with steely focus. The four tracks on VALA 4 are teeming with tactile textures and intricate detail that feel familiar and abstract all at once, perhaps best described by the titles that indulge in a little Finnish word play. ‘Sammalkämmen’, literally translated as ‘moss palm’, feels like a fitting reflection of the spongy mid-range matter on the opening track, while the humid, dense atmosphere of B1 cut ‘Suohunaja’ could indeed conjure a sense of ‘swamp honey’. From ‘Sienikieli’s tunnelling rhythmic intrigue to the intricately arranged, expressive percussion of ‘Niin Vain’, Kaspiann continues to broaden his vocabulary within the language of deep techno, triggering ineffable sensations from carefully sculpted sonic forms and strapping them to incisive rhythms.

Compiled from over 250 tracks created between 2017 and 2024, Juxtapose is Windu’s first ever release — a freeform, shapeshifting snapshot of sound. It is released by adventurous electronic music label topo2 on March 14, 2025.

The record is pressed on 180 grams of ICCS-certified bio-vinyl, housed in a heavy full-colour sleeve, and comes with a download-code to the full release and five digital-only tracks.

After offering the label a beautiful closing composition on its various artists compilation Reflection EP, Rotterdam live act, producer, and DJ Mata Disk returns to Polychrome Audio with LFH-Proxy EP. Featuring two original club tracks and their interpretations by producers Eversines and Jopie, this project further cements Julian Determann’s singular musical identity while opening it up to new dimensions and patterns.

A1. Life Force Harmonizer (“LFH”) opens the dance by capturing the sweet nostalgia experienced during club morning hours. Mata Disk’s sound palette is here in full display, the energy carried by sharp drum design and a propulsive bassline is lifted by melodious pads offering the track its tenderness. On the B1, Rotterdam producer Jopie creatively re-imagined these feelings, stripping down and reshaping LFH onto a track flirting with breaks and IDM progressions.

With Proxy, Mata Disk dims the light slightly, with a drum workout track to keep the dance alive. The very progressive and low-end focused build-up paired with a tension-building synthesized lead offers the A2 track a smooth build-up. De Lichting member Eversines elegantly switches the sound narrative, transforming Proxy into a dark electro-leaning tech house track carrying the same tension. Adding emotion into the mix with an anthemic melodic lead, Eversines’ Proxy Ziggo Mix serves as a perfect closer.

Mancunian-based record shop Haunted Dancehall is happy to reveal the first addition to its new label: Would You Kindly, a four tracks EP by rising talent Jibz, crafted in his Parisian home studio and designed for (haunted) dancefloors.

Digging into techno, electro and progressive territories, Would You Kindly kicks off with Flat Pillow, a dancefloor-tailored track with evolving drum patterns, thick basslines and a definitive haunting feel. Then, Inari offers relentless rythms along with energy-loaded synths, reminding us that the whole EP was first thought as a live jam.

On the flip side, Lane Gank gifts us with broken beats rythms and spatial soundscapes to take us in a videogame-like trip. Finally, the EP closes on Anaphylaxis, blending numerous influences to wreck clubs and festivals, and acting as a keepsake of the contagious energy of the whole release.

Syz launches his new label Vitalizm with VTLZM001, a 4 track sure-shot from its founder of wily club rhythms mutated anew through adventurous construction and intuitive dancefloor nous.

Club rhythms for the soul; a nourishing manifesto for the rave, and for Syz a vital spark through which energy and groove emanate. A prolific producer with a beloved back catalogue, he is no stranger to the sounds that embody the propulsive nature of UK club rhythms. Vitzalizm though is a new venture, his inaugural label founded on the promise of showcasing new and varied developments along the Syz sonic journey. It’s a wide-ranging ethos informed via a complex web of influences that continue to make afresh of club music, while also paying homage to the culture of yesteryears with small vinyl runs and limited lathe-cut dubplate specials.

On VTLZM001, the label’s inaugural release, its founder gets right to it. Down & Twist steps first with an all-round sexy affair, a 2 step mover that swivels deftly on its latin inclinations while updating the early 00’s garage template with fwd> attitude. Next, Bakayadaskunka writhes as a complex beast, busy through the broken beat while its tactile low end purrs and throbs within. Fidget goes faster, a tribal wonderland that pumps giddy yet nimble across its myriad of basslines. The Lizm sees us off, a supple percussive playground which swings playful and loose amongst a livewire of subs, weightless pads and a faint dub echo.

Dream Flight Records is back for another take off and journey into deep and tech minimal. Both of these sounds are late-night live jams recorded at Crystal Palace Studios, formerly home to Palace Vinyl, now a welcome part of the Brixton landscape and the evidenly aptly named 4:32AM have previously recorded on their label (Palace Trax) as well as the OOZ label. The A-side, 'Italia,' is a tight, bouncy tribute to classic Italo house brimming with energy and emotional warmth and on the flip is a deeper, more hypnotic groove elevated by a spontaneous vocal performance from rising star Lee Banton. 'Speaking In Silence' is subtle, smeared with synth colour and slow burning, an after-party classic in the making.

Debut album from French producer Sweetzak, half of the duo Rue des Garderies (whose album was acclaimed by some of the specialist media in 2024: Album of the Year by Inverted Audio ; Juno ; World of Echo ; Soundohm ...). An ambient epic of complex textures, sculpted with emotion and intuition.

Black Truffle is pleased to announce a new edition of Kassel Jaeger’s Fernweh, returning François J. Bonnet’s electroacoustic project to the label five years after the acclaimed Meith (BT069). Originally released on Giuseppe Ielasi and Jennifer Veillerobe’s impeccably curated Senufo Editions in 2012, Fernweh stands near the beginning of the gradual expansion of Bonnet’s approach after the austere acoustic textures of Aerae and Algae (both released on Senufo), leading to the lush, layered environments of recent solo works on Shelter Press and the epic electronic expeditions undertaken in duo projects with Stephen O’Malley and Jim O’Rourke.

A major work in the Kassel Jaeger oeuvre, stretching over two LP sides, Fernweh draws together synthesized and musique concrète materials into a drifting assemblage. Its title’s meaning is close to the concept of ‘Wanderlust’, fitting for this music that moves freely and unexpectedly between what Bonnet calls ‘climates’. Beginning with fizzing electronics whose rhythm of gradual approach suggests breaking waves, the clinical atmosphere is soon haunted by intangible traces of lived reality. Textures call up wind, water, insects, the crunch of feet on sand or the clinking of glasses, yet they can never be identified with any certainty. At times these concrete elements possess a vivid ‘closeness’; at others, the sounds shade into a formless distance. Though the listener forms no clear picture from the concrete sounds, these elements aerate the music, lending it their space.

Drawing from the rigorous formal language and conceptual apparatus of the French musique concrète tradition—with which Bonnet, as director of the GRM and researcher into its deepest archival recesses, is intimately familiar—the music of Kassel Jaeger is equally informed by how underground experimental music has rethought electroacoustic techniques, with Fernweh at times calling up the grit and grime of para-industrial eccentrics like Maurizio Bianchi or the Toniutti brothers, and at other moments suggesting the slow-moving grandeur of early Olivia Block. Subtle features of dynamics and rhythm act as connective tissue between the numerous ‘scenes’, with wave-like envelopes, rapid pulsations, and short, tape-loop patterns all recurring throughout the piece, shared ambiguously between electronic and concrete sounds. Amid these shifting, often inharmonic textures, the electronic elements sometimes cohere into melodic shapes and chordal patterns, cutting through the fog in distorted arcs or underpinning the layered surface with slow-moving harmonies. Like his friend and collaborator Jim O’Rourke, Bonnet displays a radical openness at odds with academic tradition, allowing unabashed emotion to coexist with rigorous experimentation. As Fernweh dies away with mysterious shudders, listeners are left at once moved and unsure of exactly what they just heard.

The PS7 label continues to impress a year after first launching with more soul-drenched sounds and lazy grooves. P Sol is again the NYC beat maker behind this 7" which kicks off with the deep, laid back swing of 'Trust'. A range of vocals, from backing tunes to r&b females and smoky males, all coalesce around a most organic groove with hooky pads. 'Harlem World (7" edit)' then has even more of a noodling funk bassline and deconstructed, slow motion groove full of hip-hop style conscious lyrics and serene string sweeps. Two real heart warmers which will likely sell out, just like all previous releases.
